Cincinnati Reds manager Terry Francona's future is drawing attention as the front office looks ahead to next season. The better approach is to separate disappointing box scores from genuinely concerning roles. Ja'Marr Chase and George Pickens hurt lineups in Week 1, but neither performance provided a good reason to panic.

Chase delivered the most shocking dud of the opening weekend, catching two of four targets for only 12 yards in Cincinnati's 33-27 victory over Tampa Bay. He finished behind Mike Gesicki, Tee Higgins and Chase Brown in targets despite entering the week as fantasy football's consensus top wide receiver.
The four targets were frustrating, but the result looks more like an outlier than a changing offensive hierarchy. Chase's 3.2 PPR points represented the second-worst fantasy performance of his career. He has also averaged 5.5 fewer fantasy points in September than during every other month, demonstrating that slow starts are nothing new.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers showed enough in their 33-27 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals to feel like they could have won. Instead, four lost fumbles, shaky pass protection, and defensive issues underneath turned a competitive performance into a 0-1 start.
Tampa Bay finished with 282 total yards, converted five of 10 third downs, and never punted. The Bucs also fought back from a 21-3 deficit and had the game within six points late, but the turnovers kept Cincinnati in control.

Baker Mayfield's game was almost a perfect reflection of Tampa Bay's afternoon. He completed 23 of 28 passes for 216 yards without an interception, added 30 rushing yards, and scored on a nine-yard run in the fourth quarter.
The number one problem for Mayfield was ball security. Mayfield fumbled three times and lost all three of them. One was returned 27 yards for a touchdown, another went through the end zone for a touchback near the goal line, and the third came on a fourth-quarter strip-sack while Tampa Bay was trying to complete its comeback.There is some living and dying by the sword with Mayfield. Part of what makes him unique is his willingness to fight through contact, extend plays, and create something when a play looks dead. When it works, everyone loves it. When it ends with the football on the ground, it looks reckless. Against Cincinnati, he pushed that line much too far.

Mackie became known for his glamorous designs after collaborating with Cher, dressing her on television and on tour. He also served as the costume designer for "The Carol Burnett Show," responsible for Burnett's entire wardrobe. Nicknamed the Sultan of Sequins, the Rajah of Rhinestones and the Guru of Glitter, Mackie's ostentatious, flattering looks became instantly recognizable over the course of his career. His popularity continued into the modern day, with his archive coveted by a new generation of stars.
For his stage and screen work, Mackie has been awarded nine Emmys, an induction into the Television Academy Hall of Fame and three Academy Award nominations. In 1999, he received a retrospective at the Museum at FIT. More recently, he won a Tony Award for the musical "The Cher Show" and a lifetime achievement award by the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
Fern Mallis, former executive director of CFDA and founder of New York Fashion Week, credited him with many of the red carpet trends we continue to see today.

I'm always here for celebrities who are wanting to get yolked, and if takes an Aperol Spritz or two to do it even better. Florence Pugh's been in Venice to promote Netflix's East Of Eden, but let's be honest, she really seems to be there for the content. Her latest was the weightlifting Aperol Spritz video I didn't know I needed.
Pugh was out in the Italian sun with a pal who was instructing her on her Aperol Spritz hammer curls. She opened up about how she sometimes leans forward to get those right, and you can hear her taking instruction in the background, with the filmer humorously noting,"I think you may need to take a sip of the left one to make sure they're even."

Known for his flamboyant, over-the-top and extravagant designs, Mackie created all the costumes for The Carol Burnett Show variety series in the '60s and '70s, and Cher's looks for her TV programmes, including The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour and The Sonny and Cher Show.
Mackie collaborated with the music legend many times over the years and famously designed her headline-grabbing outfit at the 1986 Oscars, where she wore a towering feathered headdress and a black midriff-baring ensemble.

Next year's Social Security cost-of-living increase looks like it will be 3.6%. The AARP made this forecast. The real figure will be released on October 14. It is based, according to The New York Times, on "the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers, or CPI-W. It averages the figures for July, August, and September. That may be fine for people who have a lot of money. For those who don't, it's a problem.
Most of the conversation about Social Security is that it will "run out of money".That happens in late 2032. It really doesn't run out. The payout drops to about 79% of the current total.
People choose one of three options. Social Security defines them as "early eligibility," which can start at 62. "Retirement" age is 65. People can get the largest payout possible if they wait until age 70.
Analysts have proposed several ways to "save" Social Security. Among those is to add two years to three retirement options. Another is to raise the wage level cap when people pay in. Today, for most people, that is $184,500 a year. The most controversial idea is that people who make a great deal of money after they retire should pay little, or nothing.
Is 3.6% enough? Almost certainly not. Over the next year, the CPI could surge. Energy prices will be a factor. So will food. And food prices are affected by energy prices. Seventy percent of all Us freight is moved by truck. Diesel is at its highest price ever. Some of that will be passed on to consumers next year.

I've used the word "penultimate" seemingly endless times in the last month or so, so here's one more. The WooSox capped off their finale in Lehigh Valley (Phillies AAA), finishing the PENULTIMATE series of 2026 in dramatic fashion despite outplaying the IronPigs for most of the game. Gage Ziehl had a gritty if not spectacular performance, pitching into the sixth and coming back from being taken yard in the fourth without his confidence shaken. All told, the 23-year-old righty struck out eight to bring his total to 126 in 116 innings pitched (96/85, respectively, of those being in Portland) and is really shaping up into someone to watch in 2027. The pitching staff as a whole issued zero walks despite being taken for nine hits, but the game never looked out of control save for when Noah Song came in to let two runs up in the sixth.
Luckily, though, the WooSox offense had a home run derby, sending five over the fence, including two from Allan Castro. That second one hoisted the WooSox from a deficit to a lead that Sam McWilliams wouldn't give up. Arias also hit his 24th home run of the season (and his 5th in Triple-A.)
Rain cancelled the last game of the season against Binghamton (Mets AA) in an anticlimactic fashion. But what a season it was for the Sea Dogs.
The season began with interested eyes watching Franklin Arias become an absolute hitting machine in the spring, along with Anthony Eyannson dealing, only for the former to be promoted to Triple-A and the latter dealt to Baltimore (or rather, Chesapeake) in the Adley Rutschman deal. Still, Brooks Brannon raked, the team had 8 walk-off wins and generally found ways to come up on top. The pitching staff headed by Hayden Mullins, in his own right a guy to watch, pitched a combined no hitter in April (but not a shutout). And Justin Gonzales looks formidable as an everyday outfielder a few years in the future. Overall, the cupboard is not as fully stocked as some teams, but there's some players to feel good about starting to make their mark in the mid-levels of the farm.

Despite contrasting rumours earlier this afternoon, Karim Benzema doesn't seem to be a particularly hot topic at Bayer Leverkusen.
When asked by BILD, club sporting director Simon Rolfes shut down the rumour, simply stating "our squad is complete."
This story emerged on Monday when DZfoot journalist Ilyes Kaddouri reported that there was contact between the two parties.
Benzema following Leverkusen's instagram page only added further fuel to the fire regarding a move to the Rhineland.
However, with Carles Martinez's squad well stocked in his position, it now looks like it was nothing more than an unreliable rumour.

Vale S.A. (NYSE:VALE) is considering making its debut in China's domestic bond market as soon as this year, with CFO Marcelo Bacci saying the company is preparing for a potential Panda bond issuance. The move would be strategically significant because China accounts for roughly half of Vale's revenue, making renminbi financing a natural extension of its relationship with its largest market. Bloomberg reported that Vale is still ****** sing the market, including whether it can obtain a maturity longer than the typical two-, three-, or five-year terms available to international issuers.
The timing is also favorable for Vale because China's Panda bond market is expanding rapidly. Reuters reported that foreign issuers have increasingly turned to Asian bond markets to diversify funding sources, while Chinese yuan bond issuance has reached record levels in 2026. For Vale S.A. (NYSE:VALE), the potential transaction therefore looks less like a necessity for raising capital and more like an effort to diversify its investor base, potentially lower funding costs, and build a longer-term financing relationship with Chinese investors.
The strongest bullish argument is that Vale S.A. (NYSE:VALE) could potentially lower and diversify its cost of capital by accessing a large pool of Chinese investors at a time when renminbi funding remains relatively inexpensive. Reuters noted that Chinese onshore and offshore yuan bond markets have experienced record issuance this year, with foreign borrowers increasingly using these markets to diversify away from traditional funding currencies. If Vale can achieve competitive pricing, a Panda bond could provide an additional funding channel alongside its established dollar financing, reducing its dependence on a single market.
The move could also create a better natural match between Vale's revenues and its financing currency. Because China represents approximately half of Vale's revenue, raising at least some debt in renminbi could provide a degree of currency alignment with its Chinese business exposure. More importantly, establishing itself as a repeat issuer could strengthen Vale's relationships with Chinese banks and institutional investors, potentially giving it access to another source of capital when global dollar markets become less attractive.
There is also a broader strategic benefit. China is actively expanding the Panda bond market and encouraging international companies to use it. Official Chinese data showed that more than 160 billion yuan of Panda bonds were issued during the first half of 2026, up 69% year over year, demonstrating that the market is becoming more established and liquid. Vale entering this market could therefore position the company early in a growing financing ecosystem rather than waiting until it becomes more crowded.

As I write this on Sunday night, all but one Week 1 game is comfortably in the books, and as is always the case on opening weekend, we encountered a slew of surprises. Some promising, others concerning and many that may have affected our outlook on a player or an offense. We're all doing our best not to overreact to one Sunday (and one Wednesday and one Thursday), but some of these shifting perspectives are bound to have permanent ramifications.

With that in mind, I've compiled the (first) full weekly fantasy football stock report. These are the most notable risers and fallers heading into Week 2.
Ankle sprain, schmankle schprain (sorry, editors). Ashton Jeanty looked incredible on Sunday and had absolutely no limitations on his workload. He handled 23 carries and had six catches, totaling 147 yards while scoring twice through the air. He totaled 74 rushing yards after contact and scored both of his receiving touchdowns from the 13-yard line. Translation? The second-year RB's upside is arguably somewhere in the Christian McCaffrey stratosphere. The one caveat to all of this, of course, is that he did it against the Miami Dolphins. We'll see whether things change in Week 2 against the Chargers. But for now, Jeanty looks fully healthy and completely dominant, and anyone who got him at the "ankle sprain discount" is doing cartwheels.
At just 61% rostered on Yahoo, Jalen ******* er was closer to being a waiver-wire player than a fantasy stud. Not anymore. The third-year wideout led the Panthers with nine targets, eight catches, 138 receiving yards and two touchdowns, finishing as the WR1 overall on Sunday (29.8 fantasy points). He ran the second-most routes on the team (32), behind Tetairoa McMillan (36), and averaged 13.8 air yards per target and 4.31 yards per route run. He made a very strong opening argument to be a 1B to McMillan's 1A this season. And while all of Carolina's numbers were inflated by this barn-burner of a game with Chicago, ******* er had flashed late last year and looks like a legitimate third-year breakout candidate. He'll be among the most-added players on waivers this week (despite starting at 61%) and should be at least a FLEX consideration until further notice.

Princess Diana's iconic "revenge dress" is heading back to auction. Meghan Markle is reportedly interested in buying it, but she could face some serious competition. A source claims Kim Kardashian is among several high-profile names determined to own the famous gown. With its royal history and emotional significance, the upcoming sale could become a closely watched battle.
Meghan Markle is reportedly hoping to get her hands on one of Princess Diana's most famous looks. The black Christina Stambolian dress is set to return to the auction block in December. Sotheby's expects it could sell for up to £220,000 (approxiamately $2,96,000).
The dress has a story almost as famous as its design. Diana wore it to a 1994 fundraising gala, on the same night then-Prince Charles allegedly admitted to infidelity. She stepped out in the daring off-the-shoulder number instead of following the more restrained royal style expected of her. The look soon earned its now-famous "revenge dress" nickname.
Now, according to New Idea, Meghan is supposedly considering a bid. However, she may have to beat some serious competition to take it home. A source claimed that Kim Kardashian is "determined to own this dress." The insider also named Salma Hayek and Lady Gaga as potential contenders. Several collectors from Qatar and Saudi Arabia are allegedly interested, too.
With that kind of competition, the final price could climb quickly. The source claimed Prince Harry and Meghan's budget could become "a huge problem" when the bidding begins. And apparently, the couple may not even agree on whether the dress should be theirs.

Every year, twice a year, New York Fashion Week is a feast for all of the senses. You find yourself craning your neck left and right at whiplash speed just to take in all of the sumptuous looks sauntering down the runway, ID'ing the supermodels, and hoping for a glimpse of the star-studded front row. If you're really lucky, you may find yourself backstage, where you have a chance to inhale the hairspray that holds the looks together and swatch the lipsticks that define them; or you may find yourself in a showroom, tentatively running your fingers across a hand-embroidered beaded gown. And you can't forget the afterparties, where you'll more than likely be treated to a caviar-encrusted chicken nugget and a bespoke designer **** tail.
It shouldn't be surprising, then, that it's difficult to stand out in such a flurry of beauty and creativity. But a handful of celebrities have managed to leave an indelible mark on NYFW history. Teyana Taylor and Julia Fox consistently arrive in some of the most head-turning looks in the crowd, while Lil Nas X's pink feathered headdress extended high into the heavens (and back into the second row) at Christian Cowan in 2013. Not too far off where we find ourselves currently, but with an awful lot of volatility and shifting, uncertain outlooks between these six months. The contrarian take of the session was oil. High crude, Lee argued, is actually constructive for U.S. equities. With the U.S. as a net exporter, our economic competitors are importers, and stalled global growth pushes investors toward growth stocks, which is about 80% of the U.S. market. On AI CapEx, he pushed back on the sticker shock, claiming roughly $700 billion a year is a fraction of the $60 trillion global labor market and small change against daily moves in gold.
Lee also made the case that software had bottomed at the time, that enterprises building their own tools inherit the maintenance burden software companies exist to carry, and that private credit is genuinely bad but not a GFC repeat, with the real fix being taking private companies public rather than pushing private product into retail portfolios. On crypto, his argument shifted from a perspective of digital gold to one of plumbing whereby Wall Street tokenizes ****** ets, and AI agents needing a settlement rail that handles fractions of a penny.
His parting advice was the oldest one in the book, dressed in new clothes: miss the 10 best days of each year and a 16% average return goes to roughly nothing. Danger and opportunity show up together. Staying invested is the perpetual drumbeat of advisors to their clients, but one that needs banging louder when markets feel much less certain.
