After their late loss to Sassuolo last night, it is becoming increasingly difficult to see Juventus finishing inside the top four at the end of this season, according to pundit Roberto Pavanello.
The Bianconeri have been one of the top teams in the world for several decades and have done well to maintain that status, but since they last won the league ******* le in 2020, they have been far from achieving that feat again.
One thing Juventus have consistently managed to do is secure Champions League football, but last season they failed to achieve that. Many believed their failure was linked to the quality of their squad and the fact that Luciano Spalletti did not start the season as their manager.
He has now been given a new deal for another season and was their coach during pre-season, yet Juventus cannot beat Sassuolo in their fourth league game of the season.
It is certainly too early for the team to be struggling as much as it is at the moment, but their poor start has already created doubts about what they can achieve this season.

"We'll start by saying that we're sorry about what happened to [Manuel] Locatelli. His absence, though, spreads responsibility across everyone because he's always attentive to everything. This week I've seen a team that's very willing to fight against whatever it comes up against, a team that's trained very well.
"Because of the individual pressure players carry now, there's much more freedom on the pitch, so we've used different systems. Nothing changes without Locatelli in that sense. We can use any system because we have a squad that allows us to do that.
"[Weston] McKennie and [Andrea] Cambiaso are unlikely to be there tomorrow. Andrea will do a fitness test tomorrow morning. But [Pape Matar] Sarr will be available.

Davide Frattesi has long wanted to play for Juventus, and the midfielder was keen to join the Bianconeri during the last transfer window. He was reportedly willing to wait for the club to make a formal approach, hoping the move to the Allianz Stadium would eventually materialise.
Frattesi had previously rejected Juventus when he was playing for Sassuolo, but he was ready to make amends and believed the opportunity to join the Turin giants was one worth pursuing. Luciano Spalletti had also become one of the best managers he had worked with, adding another important factor to the situation.
Juventus had made enquiries about Frattesi and appeared interested in bringing him to the club. The midfielder was prepared to wait for them to make their move, while Inter Milan were also open to allowing him to leave during that transfer window.
However, the Bianconeri ultimately failed to follow up on their initial interest with a formal attempt to complete the transfer. Despite Frattesi's willingness to wait for Juventus, the club did not push the situation forward, and the opportunity eventually disappeared.
Instead, Frattesi moved to Lazio, where he has enjoyed an impressive start to the season. The midfielder has quickly established himself as an important player for the Eagles and has been in outstanding scoring form.

After the first matchday of Serie A, the talking points we've seen are the usual ones: refereeing decisions, the transfer market still being open, the post-match reactions where some vent by criticizing and others take little digs as a strategy.
The routine we waited for all summer, however, mustn't put us on autopilot, because something different happened: young Italians actually played. It seems unbelievable, but it's true: Mattia Liberali, Simone Lontani, Alessandro Romano (Swiss with dual citizenship), Emanuele Lulli, Alphadjo Cisse and Alessio Cacciamani took the field.
Some did so as starters, others came off the bench: for not all of them was it their absolute Serie A debut, but the wider public really discovered them just a few days ago. The comparison with the other top European leagues is still a long way off (to put it kindly), but at least we're trying: "Better something than nothing," as Gianni Brera would have said.
After an excellent pre-season with Milan and Ruben Amorim's imprimatur in a press conference, Alphadjo Cisse (without the accent, as he himself wanted to point out) made his debut at San Siro and scored the first Serie A goal of his career. He handled the ball well in traffic, pressed constantly and, above all, scored at the decisive moment.
During the summer he trained on his own in Montesilvano (Abruzzo) to get back into shape after tearing his adductor tendon, an injury that had cut short an excellent season with Aquilani's Catanzaro. Throughout July, Sassuolo and Torino wanted him on loan, but Amorim chose to keep him and throw him in. He is already repaying that faith.

Lazio have reportedly improved their bid for Andrea Pinamonti as they try to find an agreement with Sassuolo before the transfer deadline.
Although the club's campaign began last Sunday (with a shocking elimination from the Coppa Italia at the hands of Mantova), the Biancocelesti have yet to add a new striker to their ranks, even though Gennaro Gattuso had considered it the main priority of the summer transfer market.
The Aquile were on the cusp of signing Bamba Dieng, who arrived in Rome on Thursday, but the deal collapsed due to a knee issue detected during the medical. As for Mauro Icardi, he wasn't completely sold on the project, preferring to bide his time while waiting for other offers. Therefore, Pinamonti re-emerged as the main target to bolster the attack.
According to Italian journalist Damiano Er Faina, Lazio have raised their offer for Pinamonti, and they're now awaiting a response from Sassuolo. It should be noted that the Italian capital club can only afford to sign the 27-year-old on loan with an option to buy, but since the player's contract with the Neroverdi will expire next June, he would first have to sign a renewal.
Er Faina adds that AC Milan outcast Santiago Gimenez was never a serious option for Lazio. The Mexican is instead a top target for Porto, who are working tirelessly to recruit him.

Bamba Dieng is no longer set to sign for Lazio, as the first medical results detected a knee problem, preventing him from joining Gennaro Gattuso's ranks.
The 26-year-old is a Senegalese striker who has had a relatively modest career, but did enjoy a solid final campaign at Lorient (15 goals from 25 appearances) before seeing out his contract with the Ligue 1 side. The forward landed in Rome on Wednesday after reaching a surprising agreement with the Biancocelesti directors.
But as we reported this morning, Dieng had already failed a medical at Amed SK earlier in the summer, allegedly due to an issue in his knee. While Lazio were presumably aware of this issue, they still proceeded with the negotiations with the player.
According to several reliable sources in the Italian media, including Gianluca Di Marzio, Dieng's move to Lazio has been called off due to the first medical's results. The Sky Sport Italia correspondent believes the decision is almost final.
With Dieng ruled out of the equation, Italian journalist Damiano Er Faina believes Andrea Pinamonti is once again the big favourite to bolster the Aquile's attack. The 27-year-old Sassuolo striker is a profile admired by Gennaro Gattuso, who considers him the right candidate for the role.

Lazio are making an effort to sign Mauro Icardi, but the latter remains reluctant to tie himself to the project.
The 33-year-old was one of the most prolific centre-forwards in Serie A during his time at Sampdoria (2011-2013) and Inter Milan (2013-2019). The former Nerazzurri captain then had a three-year spell at Paris Saint-Germain, followed by four years at Galatasaray, but he's been a free agent since the start of the summer.
In recent weeks, Icardi has been widely considered Lazio's top target for the striker role alongside Sassuolo's Andrea Pinamonti. However, finding an agreement with the Argentine remains a tall order for Angelo Fabiani and Co.
According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Icardi and his entourage had initially expressed their openness to negotiate with Lazio officials, but they have now decided to put all talks on ice. While previous reports had mentioned a significant gap between the club's offer and the player's salary request, the Sky Sport Italia correspondent insists the striker's priority is the sporting aspect.
In other words, the former PSG man is keen to find the right project, as he believes he cannot afford to make the wrong choice at this relatively late stage of his career. Therefore, the striker is expected to bide his time and await other proposals before picking his next destination. It should be noted that free agents are allowed to join a new club even after the transfer deadline.

Lazio are struggling to meet Mauro Icardi's salary demands, so they continue to work on Andrea Pinamonti, who represents a more affordable alternative.
The Aquile's shocking Coppa Italia elimination at the hands of Mantova confirmed, beyond any reasonable doubt, the squad's desperate need for a new striker. Boulaye Dia was once again wasteful in front of goal, while Petar Ratkov has failed to earn Gennaro Gattuso's trust despite a promising pre-season.
The Italian capital side has already missed out on several profiles, including Carlos Espi, who signed for Real Madrid, and Franjo Ivanovic, who preferred RC Lens. In recent days, it has been reported that the club's shortlist has been reduced to two names: Sassuolo's Pinamonti and free agent Icardi.
According to Italian journalist Damiano Er Faina, Lazio are only willing to offer Icardi a yearly net salary of €2.5 million, while the Argentine hitman is holding out for €5 million. Therefore, the gap could be too wide to be bridged through negotiations.
The club realises that Pinamonti is the more plausible option. The 27-year-old is open to joining the Biancocelesti, but as Er Faina reports, Sassuolo must first find themselves a replacement. Lazio are hoping to sign the Italian striker on loan with an option to buy, but this temporary formula is only applicable should the player extend his contract, which is set to expire in June 2027.

Netting a sublime first goal for the club in Leeds United's emphatic 4-0 victory over FC Augsburg was defender Tarik Muharemović, acrobatically lashing a powerful overhead kick into the back of the net as the Whites rounded off their pre-season campaign in style.

Inter outcast Davide Frattesi is reportedly on the verge of joining Lazio on a season-long loan. According to Calciomercato, the Italian midfielder is set to sign for the Biancocelesti after the Lega Serie A unblocked his move to the Stadio Olimpico.
Frattesi has been on the fringes at the Giuseppe Meazza over the last two years. However, Inter refused to let him join Atletico Madrid last summer as Cristian Chivu vowed to help the former Sassuolo man reignite his career in Lombardy.
Chivu failed to live up to his pre-season promise, handing the 26-year-old just three Serie A starts in 2025/26. Tired of playing second fiddle to Nicolo Barella, Frattesi requested the transfer at the end of last season, and Inter are about to grant his wish.
Roma and Juventus had been keen on Frattesi, but the player is now one step away from joining Lazio.
Frattesi's contract at Meazza runs out next summer. Therefore, time is not on Inter's side, as they must find a way to cash in on their unsettled star quickly. Allowing him to move to Lazio on loan will reportedly pour around €5 million into the club's coffers.

Napoli outcast Lorenzo Lucca remains a target for Lazio, who are still keen to sign a centre-forward before the end of the summer.
In recent hours, several reliable sources in Italy confirmed the Biancocelesti's renewed interest in Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi. Claudio Lotito and co. are seemingly negotiating with the Nerazzurri, as well as the player's representative, Giuseppe Riso, whose stable could offer Lazio a solution for their attacking conundrum.
As Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla points out, Riso is also the agent of Andrea Pinamonti and Lorenzo Lucca, two strikers who are on Lazio's shortlist.

Sassuolo have reportedly stepped clear of their competition in the race to sign youngster Vasilije Adzic from Juventus and are hoping to close the deal in the early stages of next week.
According to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio and various others, Adzic has given his approval to Sassuolo and is likely to complete a transfer to the Neroverdi within the next few days.
The two clubs are set to discuss the final details within the next few days. Adzic is reportedly set to join on an initial loan deal with an option to buy permanently. There is already an agreement in place over a contract until the summer of 2031 according to Sunday's updates.
