Walsall have made their 10th signing of the summer transfer window with the arrival of Harrogate Town winger Reece Smith on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
The 24-year-old featured in all but one of Harrogate's League Two games last term, having joined from non-league Maidenhead United where he came through the academy and spent four and a half seasons in the first team.
Smith, who played in Harrogate's 2-0 win at the Pallet-Track Stadium in the penultimate game of last season, said his move to Walsall felt like "a big step up" and added boss Lee Grant's plan to use him on the left or as a number 10 was "music to my ears".
Grant, who is putting the finishing touches to his first pre-season at the club having taken charge in May, described the deal for Smith as "another coup" for the Saddlers having been keen to sign him for "a very long time".
Walsall begin the new campaign in the Carabao Cup at Bristol City on 6 August before opening their League Two programme away to Gillingham the following Saturday.

Vinicius Junior has emerged as a leading transfer target for **** nal as uncertainty continues to surround his future at Real Madrid. The Brazilian has reportedly struggled to agree a new contract with the Spanish club over the past several months and has now entered the final year of his current deal.
Vinicius is widely regarded as one of the best players in world football and has continued to demonstrate his quality with consistent performances. Real Madrid are understood to be keen to keep him at the club, but they are reportedly unwilling to meet his current contract demands, leaving his long-term future unresolved.
According to The Telegraph, **** nal are interested in signing the Brazilian attacker and are prepared to offer him a salary of at least £400,000 per week. If such a move were to be completed, he would become the highest-paid player at the Emirates.
Although Real Madrid already pay higher wages than **** nal, the proposed deal would still represent a significant financial commitment from the Gunners. The club have already secured new contracts for several key members of the squad, yet Vinicius would reportedly earn more than all of them if he joined this summer.
The size of the proposed salary underlines **** nal's determination to strengthen their attacking options with one of the game's most highly regarded players. It would also highlight the club's willingness to invest heavily in a player they believe could make a major impact.

If you've read enough of my pieces, you know that I'm a very defensive person.
Defensive end of the basketball court, defensive unit in Football, digging and blocking in volleyball, pitching and outfield in diamond sports.
Love that defense!
So it gives me great pleasure to announce that Oregon Football will, at least on paper, field one of the best defensive lines the program has ever seen. Run-stuffers, quarterback-hunters, the whole shebang.

Tyson Fury will return to the ring on Friday, boxing in a warm-up bout for his long-awaited fight against Anthony Joshua.
In Thailand, where Fury has been training throughout the past year, the British heavyweight will face ex-world-title challenger Mariusz Wach, one day before Joshua fights Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia.
Should Fury and his “AJ” win these contests, they will finally clash towards the end of this year, with a November showdown at Wembley Stadium possible – if the fight begins in the early hours of the morning, apparently.
Some might say that Fury, 37, has already had a warm-up for his planned fight with Joshua; in April, Fury ended his fifth retirement and outpointed Arslanbek Makhmudov in Tottenham. But the former world heavyweight champion wants to go again, facing Wach in a fight whose proceeds will go to charity, according to Fury.
The big question, however, is if fans can watch the fight at all... Here’s all you need to know:

No matter what position of strength the UFC finds itself in, the promotion constantly faces questions about what the future looks like, and what fighters will be part of it.
There have been times throughout history when it has felt like the UFC had star names in hefty supply. At other moments, their well has seemed drained, and there's cause for concern about which athletes will carry the sport.
As the UFC sits in mid-2026, there's an argument to be made that the truly valuable names on the roster are in questionable supply. That means it's an important time to distinguish who will be the immediate faces of the UFC in the coming years.
That was a focal point of discussion between MMA Junkie senior reporter Mike Bohn and longtime combat sports **** yst Luke Thomas on "The Bohnfire" podcast, with the pair ranking their individual top 10 of the most valuable UFC fighters as of July 2026.
Check out the video above for the full discussion and rankings from Bohn and Thomas.

Texas A&M's appearance at SEC Media Days has come and gone, as third-year coach Mike Elko, alongside quarterback Marcel Reed, linebacker Daymion Sanford, and safety Marcus Ratcliffe, spoke to the media at length, covering nearly every topic imaginable related to the upcoming 2026 season's goals, while Sanford, who suffered a lower-body injury this spring, stated that he could return "soon."
While much of the focus geared towards Marcel Reed's goals of taking the "next step" in his development after his career year under center, the redshirt junior signal caller will be working with new offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins, who, despite his lack of play-calling experience, received an overwhelming vote of confidence from Mike Elko, who decided against an outside hire after Collin Klein departed to take over as Kansas State's head coach after two seasons.
Before taking over as Texas A&M's wide receivers coach ahead of the 2024 season, Wiggins served as former Alabama coach Nick Saban's WR coach and ******* istant head coach, while developing Heisman-winning wide receiver DeVonta Smith during the 2020 season and, most importantly, serving as Klein's Co-OC during the last two seasons.
On Wednesday, during Elko's Q&A portion of the event, the New Jersey native stayed true to his decision in elevating Wiggins, remaining highly confident that, with Marcel Reed back under center, paired with an elite wide receiver room and an equally talented running back rotation, Wiggins' transition should be much smoother than many expect.
"We ran a national search and talked to a lot of guys. One of the mistakes we make is that we ******* ume new is always better," Elko said. "He has a lot of experience at Texas A&M and in this conference. … I have a ton of confidence in who he is as a football coach."

Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola has outlined the club’s transfer plans for this window and pinpointed one position on the pitch that they “definitely need” to address with incoming players.
Liverpool have already signed defender Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes, although that deal was agreed back in January, and forward Victor Munoz from Osasuna this summer.
However, Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate have all left the club, while the likes of Hugo Ekitike, Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni are sidelined through injury. Transfer guru Michael Edwards has also left Anfield this summer, throwing a lot of their plans up in the air.
Iraola was reticent to commit to an exact number of signings when he spoke to reporters in Chicago as part of Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the United States but acknowledged that a Salah replacement on the wing was a non-negotiable addition.
“I think it is difficult to say a number,” said Iraola. “When the market is open, you have to be always open to new options to improve the squad.

The back injury that France's centre-back William Saliba (25) had been carrying since the later stages of the domestic season finally caught up with him as he was forced off during the first half of les Bleus' semi-final defeat to Spain.
Arsenal defender Saliba had been playing through the pain in order to help the Gunners to win their first ****** le since 2004 and, while the injury had been kept largely under wraps, once the domestic season was over it became the main concern for France ahead of Deschamps' squad announcement.
The national team's staff have largely managed Saliba's back problem well, resting him in friendlies and against Norway in the final group match and dispensing him from much of France's training sessions.
Saliba's performances throughout the tournament alongside Dayot Upamecano had been excellent, despite his showing some signs of discomfort on the poor pitch of the MetLife stadium against Sweden in the round of 32. The Premier League defender's ****** ured showings were a big reason why France had conceded only two goals (one of them in the Norway match) leading up to the semi-final.
However, with France 1-0 down following Spain's successful penalty, Saliba kicked the ball away and slowly lowered himself to the ground on the half-hour mark, saying that his back had gone. He was helped off the pitch looking understandably upset and was replaced by Maxence Lacroix. The Crystal Palace defender put in a good performance considering the difficult circumstances of his entry into the match, but could do nothing to prevent les Bleus' defeat.

PHILADELPHIA — Baseball’s uncertain future briefly hung over the otherwise grandiose MLB All-Star festivities on Tuesday morning as the league’s commissioner and the head of its players union detailed the divide over a potential salary cap.
A significant gap remains between the MLB owners, who are fighting to impose a cap once the current collective bargaining agreement expires in December, and the MLB Players **** ociation, which staunchly rejects one.
MLB recently began airing “Level the Field” ads to promote public support for a cap, which interim MLBPA head Bruce Meyer took issue with.
“I have watched, over the last few years, the owners, the commissioner’s office, try to convince fans, the consumers of their product, that the product is broken,” Meyer said in downtown Philadelphia, not far from Citizens Bank Park, the site of Tuesday night’s All-Star Game.
“The supposed stewards of the game have spent an inordinate amount of time trying to convince those same fans that they don’t have hope, or they shouldn’t have hope, or that the product that they’re paying to consume in record numbers is somehow broken. I think it’s perverse.”

Aston Villa appear to be moving quickly in the market as plans are put in place for life after Youri Tielemans. According to TeamTalk, Villa are braced for the Belgian midfielder's departure after Manchester United activated his £35million release clause, a development that would leave Unai Emery needing a fresh solution in the centre of the pitch.
The report states that Villa had been anticipating this outcome and have already identified targets. The standout name is Tottenham midfielder Lucas Bergvall, with the 20-year-old described as "a genuine target for the club". That is an eye-catching detail, particularly with Bergvall said to have "informed Spurs of his desire to leave this summer" and to be keen on a move to Villa Park.
There has been no approach yet, but the situation looks fluid. TeamTalk reports that "Tielemans' exit is expected to accelerate Villa's pursuit of another midfielder", which suggests the groundwork has been done and that movement could follow once the United transfer is formally completed.
Photo IMAGO
Bergvall is an intriguing option. Villa have already added Johan Manzambi, yet the search remains focused on a player who can bring structure and control. The report explains that Villa want "a midfielder who offers a more defensive and controlled profile", adding balance to the squad. That detail is important because it also notes that "the defensive side not a particular strength of Bergvall's".

The Charlotte Hornets made one of the offseason’s most unexpected moves by agreeing to ship LaMelo Ball to the Minnesota Timberwolves late last month.
After spending the first six years of his NBA career in Charlotte, Ball’s departure marked the end of an era, with Hornets head coach Charles Lee shedding light on how difficult the newly processed trade was to accept.
Charlotte enjoyed a huge improvement this past season, finishing 44-38 after winning only 19 games the year before. A season-ending 28-10 run that began in late January carried the Hornets into the play-in tournament, where they came within one victory of their first playoff berth since 2016.
However, the franchise ultimately chose a new direction this offseason, moving on from both Ball and Miles Bridges to prioritize building around Kon Knueppel, Brandon Miller, and the rest of its young core.
Speaking with ESPN during the second quarter of Charlotte’s NBA Summer League matchup against the Boston Celtics on Sunday, Lee addressed the team’s swift roster overhaul.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers knew this offseason would mark the end of an era. Franchise icons Mike Evans and Lavonte David both moved on, leaving behind massive holes in the locker room and on the field after serving as the faces of the organization for more than a decade. While many expected the departures to send Tampa Bay tumbling down the NFC South standings, one national outlet believes the Buccaneers are far from the division's weakest team.
Bleacher Report recently predicted the last-place finisher in every NFL division entering the 2026 season, and the Buccaneers weren't the team selected in the NFC South. Instead, the Atlanta Falcons were projected to finish at the bottom of the division, signaling confidence that Tampa Bay has enough talent to remain competitive despite losing two franchise legends.
General manager Jason Licht has spent the past several seasons building a roster capable of sustaining success instead of entering a lengthy rebuild whenever veteran stars depart. That approach will be tested this season, but the foundation remains in place. Baker Mayfield is coming off another productive yet turbulent-at-times season and still has one of the league's better offensive lines protecting him, led by All-Pro left tackle Tristan Wirfs. On the outside, second-year receiver Emeka Egbuka is expected to take on a much larger role following Mike Evans' departure, while Chris Godwin Jr provides a proven veteran presence in the receiving corps.
Defensively, Todd Bowles still has plenty of talent to work with. Vita Vea remains one of the NFL's premier defensive tackles, Antoine Winfield Jr. continues to anchor the secondary, and the additions of Alex Anzalone and first-round edge rusher Rueben Bain Jr. should help soften the loss of Lavonte David while adding more playmaking ability to the front seven. There are certainly questions surrounding the Buccaneers as they enter a new chapter without two of the greatest players in franchise history. Replacing Evans' production and David's leadership won't happen overnight.
However, Tampa Bay's roster still features enough proven veterans and ascending young talent to compete in the NFC South. If Bleacher Report's projection is any indication, the Buccaneers may be transitioning into a new era, but that doesn't mean they're headed for the bottom of the division.

F.C Barcelona are currently closing on on 24-year-old forward, Karim Adeyemi in a quickly developing transfer saga. Influencer and Barcelona shill, Fabrizio Romano, was the first to post the news earlier this week that Adeyemi would not be signing a new contract with Dortmund and instead looks set to join Barcelona.
Adeyemi joined Dortmund in 2022 and has been a divisive, but promising, player across his four seasons. He scored 36 goals across 146 games for Borussia Dortmund and was a key member in Dortmund's heartbreaking Bundesliga and Champions league pushes in 2023 and 2024 respectively. Pundits and club officials earmarked Adeyemi as the 'Next Wunderkid' throughout his time here but he failed to hit the heights as his predecessors. He had several games where it felt like he announced himself to the world only for it to be a hot-streak. The German forward missed out on the World Cup squad after only racking up 1,196 domestic minutes this season and doesn't appear to be a good fit for how Niko Kovac wants to play.
That being said, he's undoubtably a good player. Despite the limited minutes, Adeyemi averaged .83 goals + **** ists per game in the league this season. His ability to defend from the front, win aerial duels, and win fouls has been a key resource for Borussia Dortmund in hotly contested games. Most importantly, however, is that the Borussia Dortmund social media manager will lose 90% of their content after spamming everyone with Adeyemi memes for four years.
The final price is yet to be confirmed but Patrick Berger is currently reporting that Dortmund should only expect to get between €20m to €40m due to only having 1 year left on his contract. This price is far from the €80m that was touted seasons ago but unfortunately is better than seeing him leave on a free next season.
At least we'll always have that goal against Chelsea!

Anton Segner will become the first German-born All Black if the uncapped back row comes off the bench in New Zealand's Nations Championship match against Italy on Saturday.
The 24-year-old was born in Frankfurt and developed an obsession with rugby and the All Blacks after being introduced to the sport by two English schoolfriends.
He joined a local club that had New Zealanders as coaches and adopted Kiwi habits, asking his parents to make him pies and performing a haka, learned from YouTube, at a school Christmas concert.

Aged 15, Segner moved across the world to attend Nelson College, a state school that has produced a string of All Blacks, and progressed through New Zealand's age-grade teams before winning a contract with Super Rugby's Auckland-based Blues.

Michigan State basketball will officially be returning to your Thanksgiving menu this year.
Earlier reports from this offseason were confirmed on Wednesday when Michigan State formally announced an upcoming Thanksgiving Day matchup with Arkansas this season. The game will be played at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Mich., with tipoff scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET on November 26.
The game will be televised on CBS and follow the Detroit Lions' annual Thanksgiving matchup that kicks off earlier in the day.
In early April, both Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo and Arkansas head coach John Calipari stated this game would be happening -- which was a notable twist from the original agreement. Michigan State hosted Arkansas in a ranked matchup last year at the Breslin Center, and was originally scheduled to head to Fayetteville, Ark. this upcoming season as a the second-leg of a home-and-home series. That return game by the Spartans has now been postponed for at least one season now that the two will meet in the Motor City this year.
This is a super fun matchup between two teams that will start next season near the top of the rankings. This is one of many tough non-conference games for the Spartans this upcoming season, and will be a treat on Thanksgiving for Spartans to watch on the national stage.

Back in March, the Las Vegas Raiders and Baltimore Ravens agreed to a deal to send Maxx Crosby to Baltimore in exchange for two first-round draft picks. However, after a failed physical due to a serious knee issue, the AFC North franchise backed out of the deal entirely.
Several months later, Crosby is still a Raider, but the possibility of a trade remains. Here are three teams that could pursue the superstar pass rusher as training camp approaches.
Leading up to the initial deal, which ultimately fell through, no team was more often linked to Crosby than the Bears. Chicago took a massive step forward last season under first-year head coach Ben Johnson, winning 11 games and finishing atop the NFC North.
Their offense was electric down the stretch, thanks to major contributions from Caleb Williams, D’Andre Swift, DJ Moore, and rookie pass-catchers Colston Loveland and Luther Burden III. Unfortunately, they lacked that same level of firepower on defense, which proved very costly at times last season.
The Bears’ current pass-rushing group features Montez Sweat, Dayo Odeyingbo, and Austin Booker, while Gervon Dexter Sr. and Grady Jarrett operate on the interior. They also added defensive tackle Neville Gallimore this offseason.

Tennessee unveiled its new orange Adidas uniforms with more to come.
On July 6, UT released a video on social media that displayed orange Adidas uniforms in multiple sports, including football. New designs for white, Summitt blue and dark mode uniforms will be released July 7-9.
The official Tennessee Athletics account posted a teaser video on X of the orange Adidas uniforms for football, men's and women's basketball, soccer, baseball, softball and volleyball.
The video began with silhouettes of different athletes in front of a burning orange sun, before showing athletes standing in a spotlight to reveal more of the jerseys. The end of the video finally revealed the classic orange and white jerseys on different athletes in a brightly lit studio with a crisp white backdrop.
The women's basketball and softball jerseys had white and Summitt blue trim, and the baseball jersey had "Vols" in white script across the chest. The football jersey was the classic orange with large white numbers on the front paired with a white helmet with an orange "T" on the sides.
