I'm always here for celebrities who are wanting to get yolked, and if takes an Aperol Spritz or two to do it even better. Florence Pugh's been in Venice to promote Netflix's East Of Eden, but let's be honest, she really seems to be there for the content. Her latest was the weightlifting Aperol Spritz video I didn't know I needed.
Pugh was out in the Italian sun with a pal who was instructing her on her Aperol Spritz hammer curls. She opened up about how she sometimes leans forward to get those right, and you can hear her taking instruction in the background, with the filmer humorously noting,"I think you may need to take a sip of the left one to make sure they're even."
She really looks like she's stretching and straining in the video, which amuses me, although I would ******* ume there's a fair amount of liquid in the glass and if you did enough of those you would, in fact, feel the burn. Americans Melissa Jefferson-Wooden and Kenny Bednarek won the 100m at the first World Athletics Ultimate Championship, the biggest track and field meet of 2026.
Jefferson-Wooden clocked 10.62 seconds, one hundredth off her personal best from winning the 2025 World ****** le. Julien Alfred, the 2024 Olympic gold medalist, was runner-up in 10.74, followed by 2024 Olympic silver medalist Sha'Carri Richardson in 10.76.

The last time Connor Zilisch raced in the CARS Tour, he was still trying to prove he belonged on an oval.
When he returns Friday night at Florence Motor Speedway, he'll do it as a NASCAR Cup Series driver.
Zilisch will make his first CARS Tour start since 2024 in the No. 8 Red Bull-backed Late Model Stock for JR Motorsports. It will be his first CARS Tour appearance with JRM, adding another layer to a return that looks much different than his first trips through the series.
Before Zilisch became one of NASCAR's rising stars, Late Model Stock racing was part of his education.

Aug 24 (Reuters) - Iran said it had blacklisted 45 tankers that had broken its rules for crossing the Strait of Hormuz, and would take action against any vessels ‌transferring loads with them, escalating its threats over the key waterway six months into the war.
The named ‌vessels could be fined, detained and have their cargoes confiscated, according to an X post late on Sunday from the Persian Gulf Strait Authority, a new body set up by Iran to manage the strait.
The warning was issued within days of the U.S. threatening Iran with "the toughest sanctions in history", and Iran saying its response to any new U.S. threats would be "devastating".
The restricted list includes very large crude carriers, liquefied natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas tankers, and clean product vessels, among others.

Last October, Malcolm Rogel, the Seattle Mariners' vice president of fan experience, started seeing videos of Florence, Italy's historic buchetta del vino — wine windows carved out of holes in the wall that originated in the 16th and 17th century. Knock on an ancient set of tiny, non-descript wooden doors during operating hours, and get sold a libation in one of the most unique ways possible. Rogel texted Megan Murray, the district manager at Sodexo Live, which operates concessions at the Mariners' T-Mobile Park, and asked if this concept could be replicated at the stadium.
Over the cold, rainy offseason, Rogel and Murray went to work on bringing this idea to life. Rogel's father-in-law built a wooden door in the shape of home plate. His close friend's son welded a door knocker in the shape of the Mariners' classic trident logo. Murray toured the ballpark with Seattle's liquor control board to get approval for the concept and the location of the door, which opens up to sinks and closets in the back and counter ***** e with enough room for up to seven staffers to safely work within the location's tight confines.
On opening day, the Mariners' Sea-cret Door was born as a speakeasy selling one specialty ***** tail per game, with the concept spread strictly through social media influencers and word of mouth. There's been no team advertising and no mention of the door on radio or TV broadcasts all season — the door's location purposefully kept secret to create a sort of scavenger hunt for fans searching for it at the park.
While it took until the seventh inning of the first game for the drink special to sell out its roughly 100 orders, now the offering is bought up within the first hour or so, with a full queue forming in about 12-15 minutes. Yet Rogel and Murray decided early on that the door wouldn't be open every game, and would probably only operate during about 30 of the team's 81 home games. And when the door isn't open, the M's bolt a storage bin in front of the wall to preserve its location and identity.

South Carolina senior transfer wide receiver Jayden Gibson and sophomore wide receiver Jayden Sellers each endured season-ending, lower body injuries this week in practice.
Gibson spent the last four seasons at Oklahoma, appearing in 22 games (one start) with 15 catches for 387 yards (25.8 avg) and five touchdowns for the Sooners.
Sellers appeared in seven games (two starts) in his first season with Gamecocks in 2025. He had 22 catches for 337 yards (15.3 avg) leading all Carolina freshmen. The Florence native had four catches for a season-high 127 yards in a win against Coastal Carolina, hauling in a 75-year touchdown pass.
"I am extremely disappointed for both of these young men," USC coach Shane Beamer said. "I know how hard each of them has worked over the spring and summer in getting ready for 2026 to help our team. Today, women's football is a real sports phenomenon, followed by millions of fans worldwide, but it hasn't always been the case. It all started on the 7th of May 1881, when the first recorded ladies' football match took place in Edinburgh between England and Scotland. Come the 1890s, women's club football gathered momentum. Local women's football clubs were being formed (some by women factory workers) with the aim of competing in matches and competitions.
In 1895, Alfred Hewitt Smith and Nettie J Honeyball formed the BLFC (British Ladies Football Club). The president of the club was Lady Florence Dixie, a celebrated Scottish author, who ruled that lady players should wear practical clothing, including shin pads, football boots, and bloomers.
During WW1, with many of the menfolk called up for National Service, women were increasingly being employed in factories, many of which were dark and dingy. Sport was a way of offering women workers the opportunity to improve the standards of their health and wellbeing, to boost morale and increase levels of productivity.
Unlike modern ladies, they didn't have the opportunity to go online and check websites telling them about all possible ways of entertainment. Today, players can visit expert reviewers of, say, legal Polish casinos and choose the place to spend time with a favorite game. Back then, workers, whether men or women, chose among what was offered by employers.
Football was a popular choice, and in 1917, munitions factories created the Munitionettes' Cup, the final of which saw Blyth Spartans Munitionettes defeat Bolckow, Vaughan & Co 5-0. On December 5th, 1921, the FA banned women's football.

Mastantuono is set to join Fiorentina on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid. This is not expected to include an option to buy and there will not be an automatic extension of the loan in the event of European qualification, despite some reports suggesting that there might be earlier this week.

Fabio Paratici's busy summer continues with Fiorentina's 7th incoming transfer of the season (9th if you count the loan redemptions for Marco Brescianini and Giovanni Fabbian). The DS has gone back to familiar territory again and grabbed rightback João Mário on loan from Juventus. According to LaViola.it, it's a €1.8 million initial fee and a €9.5 million option.
I wasn't particularly high on this move when the rumor broke a couple weeks ago and I'm no higher now. João Mário Neto Lopes is 26 and has 3 caps for Portugal but I don't see him as anything more than a depth piece. He's got the requisite pace and technical ability to look very good in a YouTube compilation, sure, but his disastrous defending means that he struggles to make a positive impact over 90 minutes.
A Porto product, João Mário moved to the Juvenuts last year for €12 million but suffered a Mattia Vitiesque trajectory: unable to get on the pitch for either Igor Tudor or Luciano Spalletti, he was loaned to Bologna in January but failed to elbow past Nadir Zortea for minutes under Vincenzo Italiano and the Oscar Mayers declined his option. I can't imagine he'll shoulder past (sigh) Alex Jimenez in Florence. His arrival also sounds the death knell on Dodô's time with the club.
That's enough negativity for now. João Mário should be Perfectly Fine as a low-cost backup. If he pops, another €9.5 million won't feel onerous at all. After all, this is a guy in his athletic prime with plenty of Champions League experience. The worst-case scenario is that he rides the bench for a season and then returns to Turin. My fervent hope, however, is that he bursts into the team and starts all 38 Serie A games, wowing everyone with his two-way play and cementing himself in Fabio Grosso's XI because that would mean noted creep Jimenez wouldn't be playing for this team.

Fabio Paratici has wasted no time stamping his mark on this Fiorentina squad. He's brought in 5 new players already and more are coming. That's good news: the Viola needed to refresh a stale, ailing group. What I'm interested in, though, is the senior players the new sporting director has sold. No, I don't mean outcasts like Lucas Beltrán and Amir Richardson and Alessandro Bianco. I don't mean unfortunate salary casualty Robin Gosens. No, I mean all the academy-trained talent in the system.
Until the Viola create a B-team, it will lose a crop of academy kids every summer. Most of them never had a chance of breaking through to the first team. For the handful who might have the quality, finding an acceptable path within the club is difficult. The most common outcome is what happened to, say, Eduard Duțu last year: a promising young defender, he ended up on 7 loan deals before leaving Florence for good last year without ever making a senior appearance. Guys like Luca Ranieri—loans to Foggia, Ascoli, SPAL, and Salernitana before breaking through—are the exception. It's rare for to see one of these youngsters take that final step.
Young players matter to fans in a way they don't to the club itself. For fans, every 17-year-old who dribbles a 3rd-tier defender in preseason becomes a future star. That's not just luxurious thinking. We need that fantasy—the academy contains untold riches—because it reinforces two narratives that sustain us, especially through the lean years. First, we get to believe that we know ball and can identify buried talent because that allows us to think of ourselves as knowledgeable, superior, and in control of something over which we actually exert no control. Second, we get to think that Fiorentina is doing something better than other clubs, allowing us to enjoy vicarious success and prove to ourselves that there's a reason to support an organization that constantly falls short.
The other bit is that fans connect with kids they've watched grow up more than they do with senior players brought in on the open market. There are Borja Valero exceptions, of course, but in a vacuum, we'd all prefer an academy product more than a player of equal talent who transferred in. It demonstrates that the club's process is successful. It also provides a connection to the city: every time you see a kid like Tommaso Martinelli post a picture of himself as a child in the Curva Fiesole, it reinforces the depth of feeling the locals have for the club in a way that nothing else can.
Fiorentina has enjoyed unprecedented success at youth level in the Commisso era. Daniele Galloppa led the kids to their first scudetto in 43 years, adding that trophy to 4 Coppe Italia and 2 Supercoppe since the 2019-2020 season. Fiorentina announced its roster for preseason training and the biggest news is that Robin Gosens is not on the list. The veteran leftback’s status was always uncertain this summer and this confirms that he’s on his way out. Sure enough, Nicolò Schira reports that Schalke’s expressed interest in bringing the 32-year-old to the Veltins-Arena.
This news ****** s me out. Gosens seems like a lovely guy and has been a huge part of Fiorentina’s squad both on and off the pitch since he arrived on loan from Union Berlin in 2024. He was one of the side’s most important players under Raffaele Palladino, finishing as the 3rd-leading scorer (8 goals, 9 ****** ists) and making an even bigger impact than those numbers suggest; he finished 3rd in our player of the season poll and fully deserved it.
This past year, though, was as tough on him as it was on everybody else. Never the most mobile player, his struggles to stay in front of quicker opponents were amplified by the miserable defensive ecosystem around him and a hamstring injury that kept him out for 2 months. His teammates’ inability to keep the ball meant he didn’t have time to rumble into the box to create danger at the back post and Paolo Vanoli eventually dropped him in favor of the more dynamic Fabiano Parisi.
Here’s where the character of the man came into play, though. Instead of sulking, Gosens encouraged and coached up his guys from the bench, looking more like a player-coach than a substitute at times. When Parisi went out with a cruciate ligament injury, the Goose didn’t miss a beat and slotted right back in. His leadership, attitude, and overwhelming Germanness (in the best possible way) helped get the club over the line and into safety.
The problem, of course, is his salary. As the 3rd-highest earner at the club last year, he was always in Fabio Paratici’s crosshairs. Leaving him off the ritiro roster is pretty cold but unfortunately, them’s the breaks for a professional athlete. Gosens isn’t washed by any means but his characteristics aren’t the ones Fabio Grosso needs in the squad this year and so off he goes despite his stated desire to stay in Florence.

Mexico fans gathered across Southern California on Sunday night after the national team fell short in its World Cup matchup against England, with some celebrating the team's tournament run by spilling into the streets with flags and fireworks.
In Santa Ana, AIR7 flew over fans around 9 p.m. as they set off fireworks, waved Mexico flags and shook each other's cars in an apparent celebration of the team's effort. Car shaking is a recent trend that has become popular in Mexico during the team's World Cup run.
In Huntington Park, police closed the intersection of Mountain View Avenue and Florence Avenue as people spilled into the streets. Video posted to the Citizen App showed at least one person being detained.
In Lynwood, a large crowd packed Plaza Mexico to watch the game before taking the celebration into the streets. Police set up a perimeter as a precaution. The celebrations lasted more than two hours after the game's final whistle.

Fabrizio Romanò reports that Fiorentina's on the verge of signing Tottenham Hotspurs defender Radu Drǎgușin on loan with an obligation to buy next summer for a total of €20 million, as well as the player's €5.1 million salary this year. Alasdair Gold believes the total fee is closer to €25 million and the purchase will be triggered by the Drǎgușin meeting certain performance objectives; Spurs will also get 10% of the next transfer fee for him. Nicolò Schira chimes in that the centerback's contract will run until 2031.
Fabio Paratici loves nothing more than raiding his previous club for talent so this comes as no surprise. There was reporting in late May that Drǎgușin was of interest to the Viola brass but the rumors died down over the past month. It makes sense for everyone, too, as the 24-year-old never found his feet in London, making just 48 appearances over 3 seasons since his €20 million move from Genoa in 2023 and being linked to the exit for quite some time, although an ACL injury in 2025 knocked him out for some of that span.
Despite his struggles for Spurs, Drǎgușin's a good player. He has all the physical characteristics you'd want—size, strength, quickness—and he's good on the ball. Despite his athleticism, he struggles in a high line as he doesn't always see the whole pitch and is ****** e to losing forwards darting in behind, but that might have also been a structural issue with Ange Postecoglou's paper-thin defense. Leaving the Premier League for the slower Serie A should suit him, especially since Fabio Grosso's worked with stylistically similar players at Sassuolo.
Drǎgușin joins too many other centerbacks in Florence: Luca Ranieri, Marin Pongračić, Pietro Comuzzo, and new signing Viery will all expect to play significant minutes, minutes that aren't available for a team not in Europe. Pongračić had some good moments at the World Cup and is almost certain to move this summer, leaving Paratici to sort out which of Ranieri and Comuzzo he wants to keep; expect to hear plenty more about this positional group in the coming weeks.
For now, though, we can be fairly excited about Drǎgușin despite his Juve connections. This is a fairly young defender with 30 caps for Romania, experience in Serie A and the Champions League, and the full package of talent. He's pricey, sure, but this is a good gamble on a player the DS knows well. Centerback isn't Fiorentina's most desperate area of need but Paratici's committed to tearing this thing down to the foundation and rebuilding it.

The transfer axis between Juventus and Fiorentina is heating up again, with a deal that collapsed only a few weeks ago now firmly back on the table.

Brazilian defender Viery has arrived in Florence to undergo his medical tests with Fiorentina before completing a €15m deal from Gremio.
Fiorentina are about to confirm their first summer signing as 21-year-old Gremio defender Viery landed in Rome this morning to undergo medical tests and sign his contract with the Tuscans.
Viery travelled to Florence after landing in Italy's capital and is currently undergoing medical examinations at the club's training centre, Viola Park.
Fiorentina already shared the pictures of their next purchase on social media.

Reports in Italy claim that Paris Saint-Germain are set to welcome another young Italian goalkeeping talent to their squad as 18-year-old Alessandro Longoni is set to move to the Parc des Princes at the end of his time with Milan.
Longoni, who has been based with the Milan Futuro side in 2025-26, is set to leave the Rossoneri set-up at the end of his contract this summer and already has an agreement in place to join PSG according to reports from Calciomercato.com.

Monday’s report claims that Longoni is keen to leave San Siro and that he is disappointed at how things played out for him on a personal level in his final year with the club.
The youngster is said to be upset by the fact that his colleague Matteo Pittarella, also 18, was promoted to train with the club’s first-team instead of him while he was left to play and train with the Primavera and Futuro sides, despite being part of the Italy U17 squad that won the European Championships earlier this month.
