On Tuesday, July 28, Carter and the Eagles agreed to a four-year, $152 million extension, according to multiple reports. The agreement includes $106 million guaranteed, per reports.
The deal shatters the record for average annual value for a defensive tackle contract, which Jeffery Simmons set in June with his three-year, $105.8 million extension with the Tennessee ***** ans.
Carter is the second linchpin of the Eagles' line to sign a sizable extension this offseason after fellow defensive tackle Jordan Davis in March agreed to a three-year, $78 million pact.
Carter, 25, had two years remaining on his rookie deal after the Eagles in April exercised his fifth-year option.

Javier Báez is officially back with the Detroit Tigers.
Manager A.J. Hinch announced Tuesday on MLB Network Radio that Báez will be activated from the injured list, ending a lengthy absence that began April 29.
The veteran had been transferred to the 60-day injured list on June 11 before beginning a rehab ******* ignment with Triple-A Toledo.
Báez showed signs of life during his time with the Mud Hens, including a three-double performance that caught Hinch's attention.

ROME (AP) — Roberto Mancini has once again been tasked with revitalizing an Italy team in crisis, almost exactly three years after he bolted on the national team.
Italian soccer federation Giovanni Malagò announced Mancini as the new Italy coach on Tuesday, adding that Claudio Ranieri will become the new technical director after Paolo Maldini stepped down the previous day — just 16 days after being appointed.
The 61-year-old Mancini led the Azzurri to the European Championship **** le in 2021 but shockingly resigned as Italy coach in August 2023, taking over Saudi Arabia's national team two weeks later.
"Time was running out … I believed the person who should become the new coach of Italy is Roberto Mancini, for a whole list of reasons," Malagò said. "There will be a press conference tomorrow with both Claudio Ranieri and Roberto Mancini."

With the Washington Commanders rookies having already reported for the 2026 training camp, let's learn about Henry. Initially, it is perfectly understandable if no one in the Commanders fan base knew of Henry in his first two years of college. You see, he played for Jones College in Ellisville, Mississippi, a junior college in 2021 and 2022. Henry then transferred, finding a new football home at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).
Playing at UTSA from 2023-2025, Henry blossomed in his senior season, accumulating 1,045 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on 151 carries, averaging 6.9 yards per attempt. One of the things that Commanders scouts no doubt noticed about Henry was his development in his ability to break off an explosive run for big yardage. Henry produced five rushes of 70-plus yards in 2025. This was not only the best, but was three more than any other FBS player. Henry was named a first-team All-American Athletic Conference and was a Doak Walker Award semifinalist.
Standing 5-foot-9, weighing 196 pounds, Henry is not exactly Derrick Henry in stature. This is another reason Henry went undrafted in April's 2026 NFL Draft. When the seventh and final draft rounds had concluded, there was Henry still available, and the Commanders ****** ed him, signing him to an undrafted free agent deal.
The Commanders' running back room has Jacory Croskey-Merritt "Bill" and Jeremy McNichols returning from the 2025 team. Chris Rodriguez departed, signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a free agent. The game against York was a perfect start to the 2026/2027 season. Class weather, a regiment of the red and white army and a strong display on the pitch. As one of the many that travelled, it turned out to be a great day and really got me looking forward to the games to come.
Despite being on the wrong end of the result during our clash with Liverpool, there were still lots of positives to take and it didn't dampen my mood.
In fairness, that was mainly due to the magnificence of Enzo Le Fée. Is it possible to be addicted to watching a footballer play? If so, I think I am. How on earth did we have him in the Championship?
Seeing the Lads in action just brings me so much joy — as I am sure it does to us all, and I simply can't wait for the start of the season and especially the first home game against Fulham. Hopefully some more bright sunshine, seeing some new signings in action and the Stadium of Light in full voice.
After knee surgery in April, I missed out on attending the last few games of the 2025/2026 season.

U.S. airlines are grappling with soaring jet fuel costs again after the return of hostilities in the Middle East shattered the three-week-long U.S.-Iran 'deal to make a deal' and sent Brent crude oil prices soaring past $100 per barrel again.
The U.S. jet fuel market has been tightening since March, although there haven't been concerns about any shortages in America, unlike in Europe, which in April was supposed to run out of stockpiles within six weeks.
Europe didn't see shortages, but the global markets tightened, and prices spiked amid peak seasonal demand during the summer holiday travel.
U.S. jet fuel exports, and exports of all other fuels including gasoline and diesel, hit record highs this month as refining margins soared with crude supply still constrained at the Strait of Hormuz.
The result is spiking fuel costs that depress airline earnings and raise air fares for consumers.

Former women's basketball coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton says she has reached a settlement with the University of Virginia after her sudden firing on April 5, a week after leading the Cavaliers to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2000.
Details of the settlement were not made public. Agugua-Hamilton shared a statement about it on her Instagram account after the ****** ociated Press published a story about the settlement.
Agugua-Hamilton and her representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment. A spokesperson for Virginia declined to comment.
USA TODAY Sports previously reported that Agugua-Hamilton — widely known in and outside the program as "Coach Mox" — had been the subject of an internal investigation and there were allegations of staff mistreatment within the program, according to four people with knowledge of the situation.
According to a copy of Agugua-Hamilton's contract obtained by USA TODAY Sports, Virginia owed her a sizable buyout if she was terminated without cause. The contract stipulates that Virginia would have to pay her the remaining amount of her base salary, 80% of supplemental compensation, 80% of royalties and any bonuses earned, but not yet received. According to the figures outlined in her contract — which ran through the 2027-28 season — Agugua-Hamilton would have been owed about $1.3 million.

New vehicle sales in the Philippines declined by a further 8% to 37,231 units in June 2026, down from 40,483 units in the same month last year, according to member wholesale data released jointly by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers ***** ociation (TMA).
This was the sixth consecutive month of decline for the market, as economic growth in the country continued to slow. The latest government data show that GDP growth slowed to 2.8% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026, down from 3.7% in the second half of 2025 and 4.4% for the whole of last year. Higher fuel prices resulting from the conflict in the Middle East have added to existing economic pressures, including the fallout from last year's infrastructure corruption scandal.
Despite a sharp drop in household consumption in the first quarter, the central bank has raised its benchmark interest rate by 50 basis points to 4.75% since April, reversing a two-year easing cycle from a peak of 6.5% in mid-2024, to help rein in surging inflation resulting from the recent fuel price hikes.
In the first six months of 2026, the Philippine vehicle market was down by over 11% to 204,557 units, from 230,912 units in the same period last year, with sales of passenger cars and commercial vehicles both falling by over 11% to 40,503 units and 164,054 units, respectively. Sales of electrified vehicles, including battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and hybrids, surged by 132% to 31,351 units in this period, however, as consumers prioritized fuel-efficient vehicles amid rising fuel prices.
The overall market leader, Toyota, reported a 9% sales decline to 100,909 units year-to-date, followed by Mitsubishi with 36,321 units (-17%); Suzuki 9,262 units (-14%); Ford 7,435 units (-32%); and Nissan 6,921 units (-42%).

Call it a B-spec, call it a heavily revised AMR26, call it whatever you want – what Aston Martin rolled out at the Hungaroring for the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix is, by any reasonable engineering standard, a new Formula 1 car. Sixteen separate components were declared upgraded, mechanics broke FIA curfew to get both cars fitted in time, and the team reportedly flew spare parts to Budapest just to guarantee Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll could each run the full package. That is not a development update. That is a rebuild.
The backstory is by now well-documented and not particularly flattering. Adrian Newey didn't get serious work underway on the AMR26 until mid-March 2025, and the wind tunnel didn't see a model until mid-April – three months behind rivals who were already deep into the new regulatory cycle. The car that arrived at pre-season testing in Barcelona was overweight, paddock insiders estimated by somewhere between 10 and 15 kilograms, maybe more, and the Honda power unit was generating vibrations severe enough to rattle onboard cameras loose and leave Alonso and Stroll visibly fighting the steering wheel.
At the Australian opener, Alonso qualified 2.462 seconds off the pace. Both cars retired when the vibrations damaged the battery systems. It went largely sideways from there – one point across the opening ten rounds, tenth of eleven teams in the constructors' standings, behind only the expansion Cadillac outfit.
The nose is the clearest sign of how deep the changes go. Where the original AMR26 carried a wide, blunt front structure, the Hungary version features a noticeably thinner, more tapered profile – the kind of slender nose Newey has favoured since his early Red Bull years. That change alone cascades through the entire front end: new uprights, revised aerodynamic ducting, changed actuator mounting, and a completely reworked front wing with reshaped endplates. Per Newey, the forward section of the chassis was lightened to the point that it required a full re-homologation and fresh crash testing – which, depending on your definition, crosses the threshold from upgrade to new car.
Newey himself occupies both sides of that argument simultaneously. "The main structural elements remain the same – the chassis and gearbox architecture don't fundamentally change – but we've taken weight out of both, which required re-homologating and crash testing the forward chassis," he said. So: same architecture, new crash test. Make of that what you will.

Tennessee made some significant changes to its roster throughout the offseason and will look a lot different than it did in 2025, but it still has some questions to answer on both sides of the ball. In his preseason preview, ESPN's Turron Davenport outlines three key position battles to watch once camp kicks off that could have a major impact on the outcome of the 2026 season.
There's no slam-dunk favorite in the three-way battle between veterans Austin Schlottmann and Andre James and rookie Pat Coogan. Schlottmann has the upper hand, having played in Daboll's offense the past two seasons. But James, a late addition during minicamp, started 31 games for offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo with the Raiders in 2022 and 2023. Coogan has an outside shot at the job because of his top-level communication skills, but he has an uphill battle after being selected in the sixth round in April.
The late addition of James adds some more intrigue to this competition, which had the appearance of a two-horse race throughout most of the offseason. James did have his best seasons under Bricillo, and could surprise. Coogan has championship pedigree from his college days, and could eventually see some reps, definitely making it one of the positions to watch.
Veterans Cordell Volson and Jackson Slater are the primary competitors in this battle. Volson has 48 starts under his belt after being selected by the Bengals in the fourth round in 2022. He missed the 2025 season after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder last August. Slater enters his second season after being selected in the fifth round last year. He played 34 snaps last season, all of which came in the season finale against the Jaguars. Someone needs to emerge quickly to help solidify the right side, especially with questions surrounding Latham at right tackle.

The tournament director of the Canadian Open says changes need to be made to the "demanding schedule" of players after Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic pulled out of the Masters 1000 event.
Sinner, who beat Alexander Zverev to win the Wimbledon ******* le this month, said he had withdrawn from the ATP tournament, which takes place from 2-13 August in Montreal, to prioritise his health.
Carlos Alcaraz will also be absent from the Canadian Open as he continues his recovery from a wrist injury that has kept him out since April.

To be clear, a 12% price gain in less than seven months isn't anything to be disappointed by. It's just that because the stock rose 39% in 2025, 171% in 2024, and 239% in 2023, the investment community -- which has been primed to have persistently high expectations -- might be worried that slower returns are a sign of what's to come. It's impossible to know if this is the case, though.
Nvidia's business continues to fire on all cylinders. Revenue surged 85% year over year in the 2026 second quarter (ended April 26) to $81.6 billion, establishing a fresh record. Demand is off the charts, as hyperscalers keep spending aggressively to build data centers for AI training and inference. The innovation pipeline is robust, and the company's profitability is incredible.

During the Tuesday episode of Mad Money, host Jim Cramer discussed the major credit card networks as he noted that consumer spending remains resilient. He began by highlighting the broader economic data and noted that roughly 81% of Americans hold a credit card, averaging three to four cards per consumer, with cardholders using about 29% to 30% of their available balance. Even though the median household holds approximately $8,000 in cash, consumers continue to prefer credit over drawing down savings. Explaining how these consumer habits feed into the major card networks, Cramer noted:
All this is to say that the three big credit card companies, Visa, Mastercard, and American Express have a tremendous read on the state of the economy, and after a very rocky first quarter, these stocks have been steadily chugging higher since April.
Examining the daily chart of market leader Visa Inc. (NYSE:V) with the help of Bob Lang's (founder of Explosive Options) **** ysis, Cramer highlighted how the stock's recent technical breakout contradicts theories of a struggling consumer:

I mean, this is not what Visa's chart looks like when the consumer's being squeezed. When you look at the moving average convergence divergence, that's the MACD… That's an important momentum indicator that can detect changes in the stock's trajectory before they happen… This isn't a coincidence; this is predictive. It made a bullish crossover mid-June. That's what really got people excited... And it's one of the most positively reliable patterns there is out there. Sure enough, the stock's been on fire ever since the cross...
