The New Orleans Saints built a deeper, more balanced roster in the team's second offseason under head coach Kellen Moore. They made additions across the offense and defense that appear to have raised the team's ceiling ahead of training camp.
Keep in mind that these rankings weigh production, talent, depth, and upside. Positional value is not considered, as you can see from the highest-ranked position. This is strictly about the quality of each room.
Travis Etienne Jr. produced 1,399 scrimmage yards and 13 touchdowns with the Jacksonville Jaguars last season. Pairing him with Alvin Kamara and several capable backups makes this the roster's deepest room. Even a player of Kendre Miller's talent and upside is at risk of getting cut.
Kelvin Banks Jr., David Edwards, Erik McCoy, Cesar Ruiz, and Taliese Fuaga are a starting five that has no weak link other than injury and availability. This line, if it can stay fully healthy, has a top-10 ceiling. There shouldn't be any issues with time-to-throw for Tyler Shough.
Chris Olave is coming off of a season that saw him catch 100 passes for 1,163 yards and nine touchdowns. Now, Jordyn Tyson arrives via pick No. 8 in the 2026 NFL Draft. Adding Bryce Lance, Devaughn Vele, Mason Tipton, Bub Means, Ja'Lynn Polk, and others to this group — and that's what makes it fall into the top three.

Wakefield Trinity have signed hooker Mason Teague on a two-year contract ahead of the 2027 season.
Cook Islands international Teague will join from Queensland Cup side Burleigh Bears.
He will replace Tyson Smoothy as the Australian returns home to new NRL side Perth Bears.
The 23-year-old is the fourth player signed by Wakefield for 2027, following Cameron Smith, Roger Tuivassa-Sheck and Emre Guler.
"Wakefield are an incredibly strong club who are really going places and going well this year and I hope I can add to that upon joining," he told the club's website.

The Ohio State basketball program is starting to get a lot of attention from high school recruits, and the latest is a four-star guard out of La Porte, Indiana. At 6-foot, 1-inch, and ranked as the No. 9 combo guard and 55th overall prospect in the 2027 class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Joshua Tyson named Ohio State in his final six schools on Monday.
Also included in those six schools were Cincinnati, Clemson, Michigan State, Virginia Tech, and Xavier. There does not appear to be a leader in the race, and no timetable is available for a commitment, but the Buckeyes seem to be clearly making an impression.
The news comes just days after top-ten center in the 2027 class, Jaydn Jenkins, also had Ohio State as one of the schools he is considering, naming the Buckeyes in his top five. There are all kinds of disclaimers with this, of course. It's still way too early to get excited, and OSU is a part of a handful of teams, all with good pedigrees, so the competition will be fierce.

Shortstop Tyson LeBlanc signed with the Tigers for a $1.6 million bonus – approximately $85,000 over the slot value – as first reported by MLB.com's Jim Callis. The Tigers drafted LeBlanc in the second round of the 2026 MLB Draft at No. 61 overall on July 11.

Six months removed from a destructive knockout victory over Jake Paul, heavyweight superstar Anthony Joshua is back in the ring with eyes on a blockbuster clash against Tyson Fury later this year.
But before turning to Fury, Joshua must get past Kristian Prenga on July 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, his first bout since surviving a car accident in Nigeria in December.
"It’s no secret I’ve taken some time to consolidate and rebuild to be ready for stepping back into the ring and (this fight) is the next step on that journey," Joshua said in April.
While scarcely known on the heavyweight scene, Prenga is riding a 16-fight knockout streak. He has scored three-straight first-round stoppages, but against opponents with a combined record of 38-28-5.
"Anthony Joshua is a great fighter, but he made a terrible miscalculation in picking me as his opponent," Prenga said. "This is the kind of fight that changes everything in my life and his. I know they have big plans ahead after this fight. I know they are overlooking me. I’m happy about that. I will derail their plans and shock the world . . . ”

Former Anniston standout Roq Montgomery has found a fresh start.
After failing to see the field during his third year at Alabama, the 6-foot-3, 330-pound offensive lineman entered the transfer portal this offseason and landed at Western Kentucky, where he'll suit up for head coach Tyson Helton this fall.
Helton offered his first impressions of Montgomery on Tuesday during Conference USA Media Day in Arlington, Texas.
"He's a big man. He's a strong man," Helton said. "I say big men lead the way, and he's the definition of that."
Helton noted he was familiar with Montgomery dating back to his high school days at Anniston. As a senior, Montgomery was named the Alabama Sports Writers ****** ociation's 2022 Class 4A Lineman of the Year after leading the Bulldogs to an 11-1 record.

Anthony Joshua returns to the ring this weekend, as he boxes Kristian Prenga in a warm-up bout for his super-fight with Tyson Fury.
Joshua will face the Albanian, who is a relative unknown, in the Briton’s first fight since surviving a fatal car crash in December, which claimed the lives of two of his teammates.
That accident in Nigeria occurred 10 days after Joshua stopped YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul in Miami, a fight that “AJ” knows was not a comprehensive gateway to his all-British showdown with Fury.
So, 36-year-old Joshua (29-4, 26 KOs) will first face Prenga (20-1, 20 KOs), one night after Fury’s warm-up against Mariusz Wach. Joshua vs Fury is then due in late 2026, with a November date rumoured for Wembley Stadium – provided the fight takes place in the early hours of the morning, apparently.

It’s been a messy season in recent months due to the NCAA’s new “5 for 5” rules, which allow collegiate athletes to complete their journey at this level over 5 years.
With that rule comes a lot of changes: No more redshirting for a future star to sit and learn, and no more medical redshirts. It keeps everything pretty black-and-white from here on.
Well, even though it seems like there can’t be much confusion or anything wrong with that, we have seen numerous players who just completed their fourth year in college, suing the NCAA in an attempt to get an extra year of eligibility. When the new rules were passed, they were supposed to go into effect next year, meaning this last group of seniors who just finished their careers would be gone.
Kentucky Basketball fans are very familiar with one name in the group of players suing for an extra year of eligibility. Denzel Aberdeen, a former Kentucky guard from last year’s roster, entered the transfer portal and returned to Florida to seek an extra year and play a “super senior,” or fifth year, of college back where he played his first three seasons. Aberdeen would have an immediate impact on the Gators and would start right away for them, so Florida has their fingers crossed with that situation.
Kentucky fans do need to become familiar with another name that is in that group suing for a fifth year. A small forward transfer named Cade Tyson. It was reported by Dylan Blake on Tuesday afternoon that Kentucky would be pursuing Tyson, a potential fifth-year wing who would play real minutes for the program in the 2026-27 season.

Two world-title fights have been added to the undercard of Anthony Joshua’s next bout, as the British heavyweight faces Kristian Prenga on 25 July.
Joshua will take on Prenga in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in a warm-up fight for his long-awaited clash with Tyson Fury, which will take place at an as-yet-unknown date – potentially at Wembley Stadium in London.
Joshua, 36, will fight Albanian Prenga one night after Fury’s own warm-up bout, a contest with Mariusz Wach in Thailand.
And Joshua vs Prenga has solid support in the form of two world-title fights at the Jeddah Superdome, as Hamzah Sheeraz and Josh Kelly star on the undercard.
Sheeraz, 27, will defend the WBO super-middleweight ***** le against Simon Zachenhuber, having won the vacant belt in his most-recent outing – a second-round stoppage of Alem Begic in May, on the undercard of Oleksandr Usyk’s victory over Rico Verhoeven at the pyramids of Giza in Egypt.

In many ways, the story around the Cleveland Browns has remained the same heading into the 2026 season: What is the deal at the quarterback position? The offensive line has been upgraded, and the wide receiver room saw an update this offseason, while RB Quinshon Judkins and TE Harold Fannin Jr. are the bedrock of the offense's future.
The defense is looking to replace two key components: DE Myles Garrett and DC Jim Schwartz. Adding DE Jared Verse in the Garrett deal puts a lot of pressure on the young defensive end, while CBs Denzel Ward and Tyson Campbell are locked in as veteran cornerstones of a defense, along with youngsters Carson Schwesinger and Mason Graham.
As the offseason prepares to turn to training camp, ESPN's Daniel Oyefusi has listed Cleveland's three "lingering questions," including the obvious quarterback position. Verse and the Browns pass rush were the second question:
Cleveland, though, believes it is still well-equipped to field an elite defense after getting two-time Pro Bowler Jared Verse in return. Verse isn't in Garrett's caliber as a pass rusher, but he has still been one of the more disruptive edge defenders in his first two seasons.
Whether the team extends safety Grant Delpit and Ward also linger:

The second day of the 2026 MLB draft is underway, and this is where the Tigers can get some good value. Remember, Tarik Skubal went in the ninth round, and Kerry Carpenter was a 19th-rounder, so some of these guys have a chance to make big impacts in Detroit.
It's rare to see players picked in the first 10 rounds not sign, but the second half of the draft is a bit different. Slot values go away, and teams are allowed to offer $150,000 that doesn't work against the bonus pool. Anything over that number comes out of any underslot-signing savings in the first 10 rounds. Usually, you'll see a Hail Mary type pick in the final four or five rounds, and those players don't always end up being signed.
For a refresher, Detroit selected Coastal Carolina right-handed pitcher Cameron Flukey in the first round, Kansas shortstop Tyson LeBlanc in the second round, Florida Gulf Coast two-way Evan Dempsey as a right-handed pitcher in the competitive balance round B and high school shortstop Dominic Pellegrin (Holy Cross HS, LA) in the fourth round. The Tigers did not have a third-round pick due to the signing of Framber Valdez.
A 6-foot-3, 200-pound right-hander out of Louisiana Tech, Declan Dahl is an interesting developmental pickup for Detroit.
He spent two seasons with Seminole State (Okla.) at the JUCO level, compiling a 13-6 record, 3.36 ERA and 1.21 WHIP over 128.2 innings and 26 appearances (21 starts). Dahl threw four complete games in that time and had a 10.00 K/9 over that time, too.

LAWRENCE — Kansas baseball just saw Mathis Nayral be selected No. 402 overall in the 2026 MLB Draft, with him becoming the fourth player from the program to be picked this year.
The Toronto Blue Jays picked Nayral, a junior right-handed pitcher for the Jayhawks this past season, in the 13th round. Nayral arrived as a transfer from Cochise College, and became another junior college addition that's played well for coach Dan Fitzgerald at KU. With the Jayhawks, Nayral enjoyed a season that saw the program win the Big 12 Conference's regular season and tournament ******* les before going on to with the Lawrence Regional in the NCAA tournament.

Nayral, whose season with Kansas ended in a NCAA super regional in Lawrence, finished with a 4.96 ERA across 17 starts and 18 appearances. He had a 4-3 record. He also had 71 strikeouts across 69 innings pitched.
Nayral follows junior infielder/outfielder Tyson LeBlanc being drafted by Detroit in the seance round, junior right-handed pitcher Dominic Voegele being drafted by Baltimore in the third round and junior infielder/outfielder Brady Ballinger being drafted by Detroit in the seventh round. It's an impressive run for a Kansas team that's raised the level of expectations in Lawrence quite a bit in recent years. Now, Nayral has the chance to pursue a professional career.

The Braves had a whirlwhind day one of the 2026 MLB draft, taking five players overall who all are due to slot in the top 20 of the system immediately upon signing. Yet even going with likely over slot pitchers in the second through fourth rounds there is still a feeling they have the wiggle room to fit a bit of talent into day two of the draft. Today will run through rounds 5 through 20 of the draft, so be sure to stick around Battery Power for a rundown of the players drafted today and who we think will make the biggest impact.
5th Round (144th): LHP Wil Libbert, Ole Miss — Libbert had a rough junior season, but has above average velocity and a four-pitch repertoire. He's a bit more of a project than the typical college arm, but has a high ceiling than most 5th round college guys as well.
6th Round (173rd): RHP Tyson Grulkowski, Muskego HS (WI) — A big-bodied high schooler with plus feel for spin, Grulkowski is a projectable high school arm that proves the Braves are still spending money on day two. More from Matt Powers: https://www.batterypower.c...
7th Round (202nd): C Jack Brenner, Fond du Lac HS (WI) — Into the Wisconsin prep ranks again, the Braves grabbed an athletic catcher. The Braves have had good luck developing catchers in recent years.
8th Round (232nd): C Jacob Jarrell, Clemson — The senior signs are going to fill up the rest of the first ten rounds now. Jarrell has swing and miss issues but finished his senior season with 18 home runs and has real raw power. He is expected to stick behind the plate at the professional level.

The New Orleans Saints spent the offseason building around soon-to-be second-year quarterback Tyler Shough. Now, it seems their work is beginning to earn national recognition, as The Athletic's Ted Nguyen recently included New Orleans among five offenses poised to break out heading into the 2026 season.
"The Saints have quietly put together a strong offense through the draft," Nguyen wrote. "They drafted both their young, talented tackles: left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. this year and right tackle Taliese Fuaga in 2024."
Shough is the most important piece of the Saints' offensive foundation, though. The 2025 second-round pick finished second in NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year voting after helping New Orleans to win four of its final five games. Another year in Kellen Moore's offense should help Shough continue to develop, but improved protection might be even more important. The Saints finished 29th in pass-block win rate last season, while Shough ranked 41st among qualifying quarterbacks in pressure-to-sack rate.
Nguyen added: "With a season of development for Banks and Edwards playing inside of him, the offensive line should do a better job of keeping Shough clean, which is vital. If the Saints can protect Shough, he has a chance to produce like a tier 2 quarterback."

LAWRENCE — Kansas baseball just saw Tyson LeBlanc selected No. 61 overall in the 2026 MLB Draft, and he becomes the first player from the program to be picked this year.
The Detroit Tigers picked LeBlanc, a junior infielder/outfielder for the Jayhawks this past season, in the second round. LeBlanc, who transferred in from LSU Eunice ahead of the 2026 college season, has made the most of his opportunity at KU. A former junior college athlete, he proved he could thrive at the Division I level in the Big 12 Conference.

LeBlanc has been named an All-American, at different levels, by a number of organizations for his play at Kansas in 2026. That’s on top of the postseason and All-Big 12 honors he’s also received. He was a key part of why the Jayhawks were able to sweep the Big 12’s regular season and tournament championships, then win the Lawrence Regional in the NCAA tournament, and later host a super regional as well — where their season came to an end.
LeBlanc started all 63 games he played for the Jayhawks, and finished with a batting average of .341. He also had 87 hits, 69 RBI and 25 home runs. He led the team in batting average, hits, RBI and home runs, and has the chance to enjoy a lengthy professional career.

A: While the outside concern of a LeBron James "Last Dance" is appreciated, the NBA, and pro sports in general, are a world of potential distractions, between the type of documentary you mention and the non-stop influence of social media. But teams also are built better than ever to handle such supposed distractions. NBA teams have staffer after staffer after staffer ******* ignment to deal with such elements. You don't avoid greatness over concerns of distractions.

Lewis Hamilton has spent the better part of 2026 fighting a battle most viewers cannot see. While the cameras track his car around every corner, the variables costing him lap time aren't always coming from the **** pit.
