AT&T is speeding up its plan to phase out long-standing services that customers keep canceling as demand for newer alternatives grows.
Several of these alternatives have seen strong customer growth in the third quarter of this year. According to AT&T's latest earnings report, the carrier attracted 379,000 postpaid phone customers during the quarter.
It also added 416,000 AT&T Fiber customers, up 44.4% year over year, and 280,000 new Internet Air (its fixed wireless internet service) customers, a 3.7% increase from the same period in 2025.

His death was announced late Sunday on his Instagram account. The statement from his family said that he "has passed away suddenly" and more details would be later announced.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner said in a report that Bauza died Sunday at his residence. The cause was hypertensive cardiovascular disease.

New York governor Kathy Hochul will today (Monday) launch an 88-person exploratory committee to report on the feasibility and challenges of a formal bid to host the Winter Olympic Games, according to people with knowledge of the announcement who spoke anonymously as they were not authorized to do so publicly.
The potential bid would see New York City and Lake Placid partner to host the 2042 edition.
Earlier this year, Gov. Hochul told The Athletic that "significant" meetings had taken place as she seeks to return the Winter Olympics to New York state for the first time since 1980, which is best remembered for the Miracle on Ice when the U.S. hockey team defeated the Soviet Union. Milan picked up a 3-2 victory over Atalanta on Sunday evening to keep their unbeaten start to the 2026-27 Serie A season alive, but newspapers in Italy have highlighted a 'growing problem' with the Rossoneri under recently-appointed head coach Ruben Amorim.
