Marc Ehudin had to wait more than seven hours on Sunday to see if he had reached the match play portion of the U.S. Senior Amateur Championship at Baltimore Country Club in Lutherville.
The wait is over — temporarily.
Ehudin, a Pikesville native and Gilman graduate who now lives in Potomac, learned he will take part in a playoff to determine whether he will be among the top 64 golfers in the match play round. He and 12 others will compete for three spots on Monday at 7:30 a.m. beginning at Hole No. 9 on the East Course.
"To not know where I stood the entire day and then find out, 'OK, I've got to kick it back into gear tomorrow and focus and get ready to play again,' I've got some mental adjusting to do tonight, but I will be very excited tomorrow," said Ehudin, who turned 63 last Monday. "This is a really new experience for me. Didn't get this far two years ago. So a mixture of wishing I had done better yesterday and excitement for what could be tomorrow. We'll see."
Ehudin carded a 5-over 75 on Sunday after opening with a 6-over 76 on Saturday for a two-day total of 11-over 151. That put him on the bubble until about 7 p.m. when he learned he was tied for 62nd.

Chicago Bears rookie wide receiver Zavion Thomas introduced himself to the rest of the NFL in the team's preseason finale against the Tennessee ******* ans, where he made plays on offense and special teams that should have Bears fans excited.
But it was the very first play on offense for the Bears where Thomas showcased what he can develop into in this Ben Johnson offense. Thomas pulled a double move on a ******* ans defender to break free, where quarterback Tyson Bagent found him downfield and Thomas used his speed to separate from a second defender down the right sideline for a 97-yard touchdown.
Thomas ended the game with five catches on five targets for 140 yards and one touchdown. He also found success in the return game, including a 39-yard kickoff return and 22-yard punt return.
Thomas' teammates, Luther Burden III and Jahdae Walker, took to social media to share their reactions to the impressive touchdown.
The Bears have a slew of weapons on offense, including wide receivers Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III, Kalif Raymond, Jahdae Walker and Thomas, as well as tight ends Colston Loveland and Cole Kmet. It's a crowded room, for sure, but head coach Ben Johnson will surely find a way to get Thomas involved in the passing game and use him to make things difficult on opposing defenses.

Whether it be someone on your favorite team or your least favorite, it is always intriguing to see how former Michigan Wolverines grow after their time in Ann Arbor. As the NFL approaches and rosters fill with dozens of former Wolverines, let's take a look at some guys to watch for this season.
"Hutch" did not take long to become a fan favorite among Detroiters, and even after a season-ending injury in 2024, he came back last fall with an outrageous 14.5-sack performance. Last season, he was a Pro Bowler, second-team All-Pro, fifth in Defensive Player of the Year voting, and the runner-up for Comeback Player of the Year.
We all know the ferocity and effort with which Hutchinson played at Michigan, and he is the same monster in the pros. Even if you detest the Lions, you have to appreciate watching this guy play.
A slight surprise choice at No. 10 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, Loveland started his rookie year a bit slowly before emerging as one of Caleb Williams' more trusted options. He ended his first year in the NFL with 58 receptions on 82 targets for 713 yards and six touchdowns.
Gone is top wideout DJ Moore, and Loveland — along with receivers Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III — are expected to carry the pass-catching responsibilities for the Bears in 2026. Loveland is still only 22 years old and has all the makings to be one of the league's premier tight ends, potentially joining superstars such as Brock Bowers and Trey McBride sooner rather than later.

LYNDHURST — A year of maturity made a difference Saturday evening for the Lakeside Dragons. Playing freshmen and sophomores last year led to some growth in a 14-7 victory over Lutheran East.
The Dragons defense held Lutheran East to just seven points by staying on their ****** ignments and not freelancing, said Lakeside football coach Terry Henton.
"We talked all summer about putting in the work," Henton said of the team earning a chance to play winning football.
He said as long as they play as a team they have a chance.
"Everybody [on defense] is on a chain," Henton said. "You can't go any where alone."

The Mustangs were thorough in their 42-0 shutout of Xavier. Little Chute erupted for 21 points in the second quarter to put the game out of reach at 29-0 at the half. Little Chute ran for 293 yards with Reece Joten leading the way with 17 carries for 112 yards and two touchdowns.
Jaden Hermsen, Jeshua Tobon and Kaleb Radichel also had touchdowns on the ground for Little Chute. Joten also had eight tackles on defense.
Next: Aug. 27 vs. Fox Valley Lutheran.
The Lightning moves up two spots from the preseason rankings following a 10-7 victory over Mukwonago. The Lightning defense is already in midseason form, holding Mukwonago to 211 total yards.
North running back Brock Struensee had 30 carries for 140 yards to lead the Lightning ground game.

A Florida vs. California matchup came down to the final seconds. Miami Central (FL) trailed Orange Lutheran (CA) by six points with 28 seconds left and the ball at the 40 yards line when James Perrone, a three-star Pitt commit, took off from the pocket.
He got out to his left and sprinted toward the sideline, beating two defenders. He didn't stop.
Outrace another. First down. Cut to the right to get by a fourth. Pick up a final block. End zone straight ahead.
He ran in, celebrating the touchdown that, after the PAT, would put Central ahead 23-22. After 15 seconds of defense, the game was sealed, as Central took down OLu.
Central, entering the game ranked No. 34 on MaxPreps, is one of the top Florida teams in the country. Led by Perrone and a defensive unit that includes three-star defensive backs Trezavant Boyd, T'ari Miller and Quartavius Lyons Jr., the Rockets were faced with a tough challenge in Orange Lutheran.

The 2026 season is set up to be a big bounce back year for Chicago Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze, who struggled with a foot injury last season that hampered his play.
Following the offseason trade of veteran receiver DJ Moore to the Buffalo Bills, Odunze has an opportunity to take a leap and be the top receiver for Chicago's passing attack. Looking to rebound from his injury-riddled sophomore season, Odunze said earlier in the offseason that he has adjusted to a "new normal" with his foot, but then clarified there was no deep meaning or attachment to the injury.
New offensive coordinator Press Taylor has spent this offseason and training camp identifying the strengths of Odunze and spoke about where he feels the third-year receiver has grown, revealing the team wanting to push the ball down the field to allow him to make more plays.
"I think Rome's done a good job," Taylor said. "If he hadn't said anything about his foot being different, I don't think you would have noticed because of what you're seeing like his speed and even more the detail in his routes. He understands where he's supposed to be. You see the explosion and contested catch ability he has, and we've made it a point of emphasis to push the ball downfield on some contested go ****** to feature that strength. He's made his fair share of plays on those, so that's encouraging."
If the Bears get a fully healthy version of Odunze, who takes another step in his development, they'll have two dangerous and young receivers in him and last year's second-round pick, Luther Burden III, who's currently dealing with a groin injury that is expected to sideline him for the preseason. That could give Odunze more time as the top receiver to find his rhythm in the Bears offense.

Chicago Bears running back Kyle Monangai appears to have avoided a serious knee injury but his status for Week 1 may be in jeopardy. According to ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, Monangai suffered a hyperextended knee after getting tangled up with defensive tackle Grady Jarrett during Sunday's practice that will cause him to miss multiple weeks.
It's been a tough camp for the Bears when it comes to managing injuries. Key players such as safety Coby Bryant and wide receiver Luther Burden are out for multiple weeks at a minimum, while other players like tackle Braxton Jones and defensive end Montez Sweat have been banged up throughout camp. Monangai is the latest player to go down and, at a minimum, will miss the rest of training camp.
The hope is the Bears' second-year back will be good to go for the team's regular season opener against the Carolina Panthers, taking place in less than four weeks. Monangai is a critical aspect of the ground game, along with D'Andre Swift, and is being counted on to pick up where he left off last year. As a rookie, Monangai rushed for 783 yards and five touchdowns in the regular season.
With Monangai sidelined, running backs Roschon Johnson, Salvon Ahmed, Brittain Brown, and Coleman Bennett will see extended carries with a chance to earn a roster spot as training camp continues.

Wide receiver Jahdae Walker will always be a part of Chicago Bears history for his touchdown against the Green Bay Packers to send the game to overtime and ultimately to a Chicago victory.
Walker, who's gotten opportunities with the first-team offense with Luther Burden III sidelined, has been a standout during training camp. For an undrafted rookie, he has already come a long way. Backup quarterback Tyson Bagent has seen Walker grow throughout training camp into a player who could really make an impact on the offense this year.
"I think we've been able to see him run routes a lot faster," Bagent said. "He's not thinking; he's playing. He's a guy that I think you can plug in a couple different positions that's able to do a couple different things. His size, his strength, and obviously he can take the top off as well. So being able to see that jump, being able to run fast without thinking, which is something you see a lot of with rookie wide receivers. I think he has a chance to have as big of a year as he wants to, so I think he's done great so far."
Since Walker is listed on the second-team, he will probably get some preseason action this year. He only had six receptions during the regular season last year. But with how well he has done in training camp, he should see an increased role in 2026.

Through the early days of fall camp, freshman safety Gavin Day has made the most of his opportunities with the Washington Huskies.
The 6-foot-3, 195-pound former four-star recruit has made his presence felt in the secondary thanks to his high-end range, athleticism, and physicality, building on a strong showing during spring practice.
Now, as position coach Taylor Mays looks to fill out his depth chart, Day has continued to make plays and shown off his value. On Thursday, the product of Faith Lutheran High School in Las Vegas, Nevada, stepped in front of a pass from quarterback Treston Kini McMillan, intended for wide receiver Justice Williams in the end zone, for his first interception of fall camp and returned the pass to midfield before he was pushed out of bounds.
"Gavin Day is improving," Mays said on Thursday. "I would say he's definitely improving from where he was in the spring to now; he's doing the things that we need him to do, that he wants to do for himself to become a player that can contribute this year. So, he's getting there. He still has a little bit of a ways to go, but he's definitely on pace for what we expect out of him going into his freshman year."
The Seattle native and three-time First Team All-American in his college career at USC, where he played a similar style to what Day showed on his high school film, was very detailed when asked what's next in the freshman's development.

The Washington Huskies have turned the majority of their attention on the recruiting trail to the 2028 class, and Jedd Fisch's coaching staff is beginning to set game-day visits for some of its top targets.
Among that group is three-star defensive lineman Elijah Willis, who is reportedly set to take an unofficial visit to Seattle on November 7 when the Huskies take on the Penn State Nittany Lions. The 6-foot-3, 280-pound product of Martin Luther King High School in Detroit, Michigan, is ranked as the No. 474 overall prospect and No. 48 defensive lineman in the 2028 class by 247Sports, and is also expected to visit Cincinnati, Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska, Penn State, and Wisconsin during the season.
Willis holds ten offers, with the Badgers, Cornhuskers, and Hawkeyes all among the interested parties, as his recruitment could see a major uptick ahead of his junior year.
On film, Willis is an impressive athlete who plays on both sides of the ball, thriving along the offensive line as well while mainly playing right tackle. He routinely fires out of his stance and is asked to pull across the formation frequently as a lead blocker, which he does with good speed and fluidity.
On the defensive side, where he's expected to fit at the college level, that athleticism could help him develop into a disruptive pass rusher in the Big Ten, as defensive coordinator Ryan Walters most likely views him as a fit for his five-man front look, which is advantageous for explosive interior linemen against heavier guards.

The Chicago Bears wide receiver room is one of the most intriguing position groups on the roster going into the 2026 season, with plenty of opportunity available for younger players.
Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III will be tasked with leading the receiver room this season, after several veterans including DJ Moore, departed in the offseason. That could open the door for other young names, such as second-year pro Jahdae Walker to step up.
During an interview with Kay Adams at training camp last week, Odunze named Walker as one of the breakout stars of camp early on. And with injuries to Burden and rookie Zavion Thomas, Walker is seeing extended opportunities.
"I think Jahdae is doing a great job," Odunze said. "Jahdae Walker obviously had some flashes last season. Kalif Raymond as well, and I'm shouting out my wide receivers but I really think everybody is putting it all together."
It'll be an interesting battle to monitor between Walker and Thomas, who is day-to-day with a knee injury. No matter who comes out in that battle for the fourth wide receiver spot, there's also the possibility that both players get an opportunity to showcase themselves in the unique and high-powered offense that head coach Ben Johnson is looking to run this year.

Now that the NBA Draft, summer league games, trades, and the LeBron James decision to head to the Philadelphia 76ers is over with, the league is releasing its schedule for the 2026-27 season.
Good Morning America and The Today Show both revealed a few key marquee matchups on Tuesday morning. They did not release the entire NBA schedule.
With the NBA having multiple contracts with different companies for television rights, it's important to know which games will air where and who'll play on the marquee parts of the season. Important dates such as Opening Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Martin Luther King Jr. Day are typically when the stars get to play one another in a marquee matchups on national television.
Like expected, the reigning champion New York Knicks have much going on in terms showcase games, as does LeBron and the Sixers. Rookies were a big part of the Chicago Bears offense last season. Four different rookies found the end zone for the Bears last season, including wide receivers Luther Burden III and Jahdae Walker.
Every Bears fan remembers Walker's touchdown on fourth-and-goal against the Green Bay Packers to send the game into overtime and ultimately give Chicago the win. What led up to that touchdown was a lot of hard work in practice and being a good special teamer to allow the undrafted rookie out of Texas A&M to make the roster.
Burden had a different path to the NFL. He was drafted in the second round out of college after expecting to be a first-rounder. Burden played like a first-round pick last season with splash plays throughout the season and his best overall performance against the San Francisco 49ers near the end of last season.
So far in training camp, Burden has been one of the standouts. However, on Saturday, he collided awkwardly with cornerback Tyrique Stevenson during one-on-one drills and did not return back to practice. Walker did not see it happen, but he's confident that Burden is going to be fine.
"I'm not gonna lie, I don't really see stuff like that," Walker said. "But when I heard about it, I was like, 'Wait, where's Luther at?' Because coach was like, 'Go in at the Z,' I'm like, 'Wait, where's Luther?' And it was like, yo, and I'm like dang. But he's gonna be fine. He's a dawg, so he's gonna be back soon."

The Chicago Bears were back at training camp with their ninth practice at Halas Hall, where there were plenty of notable observations and highlights from their recent session.
Unfortunately, once again, injuries were the biggest storyline from practice as wide receiver Luther Burden III, cornerback Tyrique Stevenson and safety Cam Lewis were all hurt. Stevenson stuck it out for the duration of practice, even though he was limping, while Burden and Lewis exited practice. Burden was able to walk off under his own power but Lewis took the cart of the locker room.
Outside of injuries, there were some standout performers on offense making plays, rookies making a strong impression and plenty of red zone work.

Wide receiver is a premium position in the NFL, and it has been reflected in the NFL draft, with 26 of them selected in the first round of the past five draft classes.
The stars of last year's rookie class came from Round 1 – Offensive Rookie of the Year Tetairoa McMillan and Emeka Egbuka were ranked first and second in receptions and receiving yards, and the Packers' Matthew Golden had a two-TD game in the playoffs. The Jaguars are still waiting for Travis Hunter to fully emerge, but it appears that they have big plans for him.
But it's also a position that showed its depth last year, and several non-first rounders – Isaac TeSlaa, Luther Burden, Jayden Higgins and more – also shined as rookies and figure to have bigger roles in Year 2.
So with all due respect to the five 2026 first-rounders at the position, including two top-10 picks, there might be more than meets the eye at receiver beyond that.

Williams is entering his third season following a breakout sophomore campaign where he set a franchise single-season passing record, led an NFL record seven fourth quarter comebacks (including the postseason) while leading Chicago to an 11-6 record, NFC North ****** le and playoff win. That was all in one season with head coach Ben Johnson. Now, all eyes are on Williams this summer as he continues to develop under Johnson and make a huge leap in Year 3.

Following a rough padded practice on Tuesday, Williams bounced back during a light, non-padded session. Williams was incredibly sharp during 7-on-7 work, where he completed 9-of-10 passes and five touchdowns, per CHGO. In what was a light, non-padded workout, there weren't any significant mistakes made by Williams on Wednesday. If you want to nitpick, he had an incompletion during 7-on-7 that prevented him from going a perfect 10-of-10.

Irvine (Calif.) Crean Lutheran defensive back Jacob Whitehead has committed to Arizona and broke down why he chose the Wildcats.
"I'm very excited about my decision," Whitehead said. "There were a lot of reasons why I chose Arizona but the biggest was my connection with the coaching staff.
"I have great relationships with the coaches there and really feel accepted by everyone. I love how excited they are to add me to such a great program and I love the all around fit."
Whitehead is a player we first saw as a middle schooler at the Under the Radar Camp four years ago. He burst on to the scene at Inglewood his first two years of high school before transferring in to St. John Bosco last fall.
He battled some injuries with the Braves and missed much of his junior season but played in the Navy All-American Bowl in January and then made the move in to Crean Lutheran this off-season.

The Chicago Bears were back at Halas Hall for their sixth practice of training camp on Tuesday, where they conducted their second straight padded practice.
The Bears kicked things up a notch on Day 6, where they had several live periods. There was plenty of physicality and intensity on display, which even led to the first scuffle of training camp between two rookies. Overall, it was a win for the defense and the offense had its share of struggles. There was some good injury news as running back Kyle Monangai returned to team drills as he overcomes a soft tissue injury. There were also some notable developments in several position battles.

Rough showing for offense: The Bears passing game continues to show promise heading into the season, and wide receiver Luther Burden III and tight end Colston Loveland "continued their strong camp today," per Bear Report. But, overall, it was a rough showing for the offense. According to Dan Wiederer, this looked like the "sloppiest offensive showing of camp to date. Easily." Wiederer noted that there were a number of struggles, including: "Pre-snap penalties. Misfired passes. Dropped **** . Rickety screen plays. QB1's feet getting tangled coming out from center." On top of that, quarterback Caleb Williams was intercepted by cornerback Tyrique Stevenson. It appeared to be a miscommunication between Williams and tight end Colston Loveland. Greg Braggs added that the "defense looks a step ahead" and the offense "has looked off more than the other practices." He noted it was timing and energy seemed low, especially with live periods. The offense also fell short during the two-minute drill, where quarterback Caleb Williams and Burden were unable to connect on fourth down in the end zone.
Heavy focus on the run game, 13 personnel: Tuesday's padded practice featured heavy focus on the run game and 13 personnel, both of which will be key to Ben Johnson's offense being successful. Before practice, defensive coordinator made it clear there would be a heavy focus on 13 personnel, and Courtney Cronin noted that it was "clear the emphasis is gonna be running out of 13." According to Bear Report, they "went more run heavy today, by design. The run game should be strong once again. Working a lot of run concepts with the 12 and 13 personnel." They also noted that Chicago was mixing in receivers when they went 13 personnel.
