Amin took charge of his homeland in a coup in 1971 - becoming the country's third president - and ran a brutal regime for eight years. It's estimated half a million people were killed and the country's entire Asian population were expelled.
He married six times and fathered around 60 children. Or, rather, that's how many he acknowledged. Somewhere among all that, belongs Abdul.

Mike Tyson linked up with IShowSpeed during the 2026 FIFA World Cup Finals and suggested that he participate in a boxing match against Ray J.
As seen in the clip shared by Tyson below, the two greeted one another, and Speed said he would love to be trained as a boxer by Tyson one day.

Aidan Walsh is back at his third Commonwealth Games with Team Northern Ireland, but in a different role than the previous two.
The west Belfast boxer won silver on the Gold Coast in 2018 and gold in Birmingham in 2022 before retiring from boxing last year.
Now, he is back as part of staff in a welfare and support role for Team NI's 64 competing athletes in Glasgow.
He is well equipped to do so as the Olympic bronze medallist is Boxing Ireland's high performance support lead, holds a degree in athlete wellbeing and performances sport psychology and is pursuing a PhD on emotion in elite boxing.
"My passion throughout my career has always been athlete welfare, so to be in a role supporting athletes while here is absolutely amazing. I'm really enjoying it so far," he told BBC Sport NI.

PHILADELPHIA — "5-and-0" is what the fans of Long Branch boxer Jasai Kirkpatrick chanted after the final bell rung on Friday night to point out the unbeaten fighter's new record.
The victory by unanimous decision was no surprise for anyone at the 2300 Arena in South Philadelphia. Even if there were doubters early on, a knockdown at the end of the final round of the scheduled four-round fight sealed it for the 24 year old.
"Overhand right," Kirkpatrick said later. "My coach Keith (Colone) kept telling me to throw that the entire night. After that, it kept on landing repeatedly, he's like 'keep on throwing it' and that's what I was trying to do."
It was clear from the opening bell that Kirkpatrick's opponent Nick Monty (1-7) was going to have a long night. The light welterweight orthodox fighter started the bout landing jabs, counters, and straight rights but his nose was bleeding going into the second round. By the second round, the referee had to check his corner. Later in the fight, the referee called for the doctor to check Monty's nose, but he was able to continue.
The clear difference were the nasty body shots Kirkpatrick began to land in the second round. The high-guard of Monty was ineffective, eventually forcing him to throw less punches as the fight continued.

Guernsey boxer Tommy Teers saw his Commonwealth Games debut end in defeat.
The 28-year-old bantamweight - who juggles his boxing training with working as a carpenter - lost on a split decision to Eriu Temakau of Kiribati.
Teers had a point deducted for a low blow in the opening round before improving in the second.
But Temakau won the third round and took the decision 3-1.
"Surprisingly, I feel good - a split decision loss, I think the point deducted away from me in the first round kind of edged it his way, which is boxing, these things happen," Teers told BBC Guernsey.

The Australian claims the sanctioning body acted unlawfully when it stripped him of his belt following his first fight with promotional outfit Zuffa Boxing.
Opetaia filed a lawsuit in the US District Court for the District of Nevada seeking to have his ****** le reinstated, recover damages and legal costs, and prevent the IBF from naming another cruiserweight champion while the litigation continues.
The IBF declined to comment, with a spokesperson telling BBC Sport: "We will release a statement when it is appropriate."
The 19-page complaint - obtained by BBC Sport - claims rival governing bodies have discouraged champions from facing him, citing David Benavidez's decision not to pursue a fight after Opetaia was stripped and alleging the WBC threatened to strip Noel Mikaelian if he agreed to face the Australian instead.

Michael Selwood, a British influencer known for his boxing and lifestyle content, has died at age 35.
Selwood was found dead at around 5 p.m. local time Sunday, hours after he was reported missing, Greater Manchester police said in a statement shared with People.
Police said that Selwood had last been seen Saturday at around 8 p.m. in Dukinfield, England.
"Michael's family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers at this difficult time," the statement said, per People. "We would like to thank everyone who shared and supported this appeal."
Selwood had more than 22,000 followers on TikTok, where he consistently posted about his fitness progress while training as a boxer.

Friends and family of rising boxing star Hannah Rapp will host candlelight vigils Wednesday as part of a national movement to honor her life and memory.
Rapp, the 26-year-old Yorktown native and WBC women's featherweight boxer, died on Saturday after being hit by a car while riding her bicycle in Brazos County, Texas, in an apparent road rage incident.
The Brazos County sheriff's office said in a statement that 31-year-old Charles Medina had passed two cyclists Saturday morning before stopping his vehicle, shifting into reverse, and striking one of the riders, identified as Rapp. Medina has since been arrested and charged with manslaughter.
Connor Mitton, owner and coach of Dark Side Boxing Club at 1433 E. Dollar Ct. in Brookston, said his club will host a candlelight vigil to honor Rapp, a former member of the club, to coincide with a vigil at her boxing gym in Bryan, Texas, and in her hometown of Yorktown, Indiana, held in Morrow Meadows at the Pavillion.

McGregor (22-7 MMA, 10-5 UFC) injured his right knee just 69 seconds into his rematch against Max Holloway (28-9 MMA, 24-9 UFC) in Saturday's UFC 329 headliner at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. He is set to undergo surgery for what is suspected to be a torn ACL.
With McGregor sustaining another injury after a five-year layoff from a broken left leg, Hooker wonders if his body can handle competing in MMA anymore. He sees boxing as a better option for "The Notorious."
"I feel like we're just as excited to see Conor McGregor box one of these big-name guys for $100 million as we were before that fight," Hooker told Submission Radio. "To force him to squeeze out one more MMA fight where maybe his body can't – obviously boxing is a very difficult sport, but it's far less taxing all over on your body. I feel like boxers sustain a lot more head trauma than MMA fighters do, just the bigger gloves and just the duration of you're fighting 12 three-minute rounds with the cushioned gloves.

UFC President Dana White couldn’t believe that the UFC 329 broadcast didn’t recognize boxing champion Shakur Stevenson.
UFC events are almost always attended by elite athletes from other disciplines. With Conor McGregor’s first fight since 2021 taking place at UFC 329, it wasn’t surprising to see big names in the crowd.
One of those big names was four-weight boxing world champion Shakur Stevenson, but the UFC broadcast didn’t realize that when the camera panned to the boxer, leading to White’s fury.

Damian Pinas vs. Cesar Almeida squared off earlier tonight (Sat., July 11, 2026) at UFC 329 LIVE on Paramount+ from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. In an incredible knockout, Pinas stopped his opponent with a single right hand late in the first.
Outside of one brief wrestling exchange off a caught kick, this was entirely a kickboxing match in small gloves. Theoretically, this would favor Almeida, the veteran with more than 50 professional kickboxing matches. In reality, it was competitive the entire time. Almeida was a little slicker with his movement and setups, but Pinas hammered the lead leg and was coming very close with his nuclear right hand early in the fight.
In the closing seconds of the first round, he found the mark, planting his right directly on the chin to counter an inside low kick. “The Baba Yaga” tried to score the walk-off KO, but the referee forced him to throw one more strike before intervening.

Strange, but it felt like Dominick Puni broke out in his rookie year in 2024. Unfortunately, his 2025 saw a bit of a regression after a solid 2024 campaign. Blame it on a PCL injury in August, but that was just his first month.
Could the San Francisco 49ers' right guard be poised for a breakout? It wouldn't be the first time we've seen a player go from a decent rookie season to a step back in year 2 and then get it all together in year 3.
Over at NFL.com, Bucky Brooks put together an offensive all-breakout team of one player per position who he thought would have a significant rise in stock. Puni was the only 49er who made the list:
The 2024 third-round pick has started 36 consecutive games (postseason included) in an offense that relies on his punishing skills at the point of attack. As a mauler who specializes in moving defenders off the ball, Puni is an essential piece to the 49ers' dynamic running game. Although the heavy-handed shadow boxer must continue to improve in pass protection, San Francisco has a Pro Bowler in the making at right guard.
The final year of Puni's contract is 2027, so that gives him two more years to justify a lucrative extension. As KP said in the post linked above, New York Jets' Joe Tippmann is a good comparison of what kind of extension Puni could get right now—but Puni's actual numbers resemble Dallas Cowboys' Tyler Smith.

Teofimo Lopez returns in a world **** le opportunity against Rolly Romero on August 22, and with the fighters having a personal relationship with one another over the years, Teofimo Lopez Sr gets asked about what it's like that they'll now be heading into combat with a family friend. Teofimo Sr, however was more preoccupied with other ideas.
"There was a time where Rolly said he would never fight us but, you know, **** ody wants to fight Rolly so we stepped in for a world **** le after a loss, a bad loss that my son wasn't even that fight. It was a horrible fight, it was more mental, and it had a lot to do with the way they don't give my son credit for all the things that he has done. "That hurts a boxer, mentally. My son is like that, he takes that personal. And he just gave the fight to Shakur. He didn't even slip, he didn't do the things he does in boxing. You heard me, man. I was going crazy, I couldn't believe what he was doing. He was fighting him to the right the whole night, stepping out and getting hit with that jab all night, and that's not my son. That was a gift.

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight king Israel Adesanya is going in a new direction.
Posting a video on his personal YouTube channel on Thursday ****** led “I’m Leaving CKB,” Adesanya explained that he was doing just that: departing the confines of Auckland, New Zealand-based camp City Kickboxing. The 36-year-old ex-kickboxer has fallen on hard times as of late, dropping four straight, although two of his last four outings were for his old middleweight ****** le.
The split came effective May 20, per “The Last Stylebender,” who does so a little under two months after losing to Joe Pyfer by knockout in the UFC Seattle headliner. Per the fighter, he needed a fresh start, and most importantly, personalized training instead of being in a room full of top-ranked athletes who all vie for attention from the coaches. Adesanya claimed it had been brewing for a while, and that he still mourns the absence of the team as a main part of his life.
Adesanya stated, “So [Wednesday, May 20], I spoke to [head coach] Eugene [Bareman] face-to-face, and I told him I am not coming back to CKB,” Adesanya opened with in his video. “This was something a long time coming behind the scenes, and we have an understanding. I won’t lie; it sucks.”
He continued, “Grief comes in waves for me. For most people, I’ve grieved before, so this, it comes in waves. I’ve had great days, but also there’s days where I’m like [exasperated sigh]. And it’s a long time coming, I just want to get it out [of] the way because I want you to hear from the horse’s mouth because no one else has spoken about it. I guess those who know are waiting for the ball to drop, so [motions a ball dropping] I dropped the ball.”
The former champion was simultaneous gracious for those that helped him grow over the years and crestfallen that it was the end of an era.
“It’s bittersweet,” he admitted, “but it’s the right thing for me. Especially where I am at in my career, it’s exactly what I needed. Insanity is doing the same s--t and expecting different results, so…I think that’s it, I just don’t want to talk about it. It’s something like I said that sucks, I want to grieve in peace.”
Having a bit more to get out after all, the Nigerian-born athlete carried on, saying, “[If] people want to bring it up, that’s cool, don’t ask me about it…2009 is when I first went to CKB, 2010 is when I moved over, and I established myself in Auckland to train at CKB. CKB made me into the fighter that I am today. They’ve trained a lot of great fighters. Greats, even better than myself, but me as an individual, CKB made me into the fighter that I am today. But also, I was one of the main pillars who put CKB on the map on the world stage. Rodriguez died July 6, 2026, at 79, leaving behind a legacy built over more than six decades of service, discipline and commitment to his community. Now, his family is working to keep the mission he started alive.
What started as a family ******* e eventually grew into a refuge for generations of young people and a highly respected boxing gym in Phoenix.
Today, Rodriguez Boxing Club stands as a historic, family-run nonprofit gym in the heart of the Valley. Founded in 1961, the gym provides accessible training and personalized mentorship for everyone from beginners to professional boxers.

Terence Crawford is pushing back on Conor McGregor’s claims that he turned down a $200 million offer to fight “The Notorious” in boxing and MMA, but his current comments don’t quite line up with what he said about the fight two years ago.
According to McGregor, Saudi boxing power broker Turki Alalshikh was trying to set up a two-fight $200 million deal where he and “Bud” would compete in both combat sports. A lot of MMA fighters have crossed over into boxing, but it’s much rarer for boxers to cross over into MMA. It didn’t work out well for James Toney, although Ray Mercer did KO former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia in 2009.
As Crawford saw it, there were some talks but an offer never came in.
“That was a lie. It was cap,” Crawford said on the Ariel Helwani Show. “It wasn’t never no $200 million offer. Now they asked me what I do, and I told them. I said, ‘Man, you ain’t about to be kicking on me, Conor.’ Because we was on FaceTime, and I did tell them that. But they didn’t say, ‘Hey, you got $200 million [if] you fight ’em in boxing and fight them in MMA.’ That was never the case.”
“If it was just said to me, then I could say it was a offer. But if if nothing is previewed to me, I can’t say what is what. He’s making up numbers, in my head.”

Undefeated El Paso boxer Ivy Enriquez now has an opponent for her upcoming fight at the El Paso Coliseum.
The 19-year-old Enriquez, who is 7-0 with two knockouts, will fight Mexico's Perla Lomeli, who is 7-8 with one knockout, in a scheduled eight-round fight at 118 pounds.
Enriquez is an eight-time amateur national champion and international gold medalist.
Las Cruces super welterweight prospect Ariana Carrasco (1-0, 1 KO) will take on Chanisse Jenner of Ashford, Kent, U.K. Jenner is making her pro debut.
Ayanna Vasquez (7-2-1, 1 KO) will face Maria Salinas (27-15-6, 7 KO's) at featherweight.

Tyson Fury has announced details of his final tune-up fight before facing Anthony Joshua , revealing a clash against veteran Polish heavyweight Mariusz Wach in Pattaya , Thailand .
The bout, to be shown on Netflix , will take place on Friday July 24, which is just 24 hours before Joshua takes on unknown Albanian Kristian Prenga in his own warm-up fight in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
