Baker Hughes raised its 2026 Industrial & Energy Technology (IET) order outlook after posting record second-quarter bookings, as surging investment in LNG export facilities, gas-fired power generation and data center infrastructure continued to fuel demand for its equipment and services.
The company reported second-quarter orders of $10.5 billion, up 49% from a year earlier, while IET orders more than doubled to a record $7.1 billion. Remaining performance obligations reached a record $40.1 billion, including $37.1 billion for the IET segment, providing increased visibility into future revenue. Revenue totaled $6.74 billion, while adjusted EBITDA rose to $1.23 billion, exceeding the high end of the company's guidance range.
Chairman and CEO Lorenzo Simonelli said Baker Hughes benefited from continued strength in data centers, gas infrastructure and upstream markets despite operational challenges in the Middle East. He said the company now expects to reach the midpoint of its full-year guidance while increasing its Horizon 2 (2026-2028) IET orders target to more than $45 billion.
The record order intake was supported by a series of major LNG and power generation contracts. During the quarter, Baker Hughes secured equipment awards from Venture Global, Cheniere Energy, Golar LNG and Nigeria LNG, alongside large power generation orders from Dynamis Power Solutions and Kodiak Gas Services to support growing electricity demand from data centers and energy infrastructure across North America.
Oilfield Services & Equipment also outperformed expectations despite geopolitical disruptions. Segment EBITDA exceeded guidance as activity improved in the Middle East late in the quarter, while North America land operations and Latin America delivered solid results. However, segment revenue remained 5% below the prior year, reflecting ****** et divestitures and regional disruptions.

On this day in 2023, Eliezer Mayenda completed his transfer to Sunderland from Sochaux for a fee believed to be just over €1 million. The French third-tier side retained a 25% sell-on clause. Mayenda had turned 18 in May and signed a five-year contract.
He made his senior debut for Sochaux in a cup game, coming on as a substitute at the age of 16 years, seven months and 10 days – the youngest player ever to do so. Five days later, on 2 February, he became the youngest player ever to sign a professional contract with the club.
Mayenda was loaned by Sunderland to Hibernian in February 2024, where he remained for the rest of the season. Upon his return to Wearside, he was reintegrated into the first-team squad ahead of the start of the 2024 – 25 Championship campaign.
His first Sunderland goals came in the second Championship match of the season, a 4 – 0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday, where he netted twice. The big man went on to make 37 appearances during the Championship campaign, as well as featuring in all three play-off matches. Having scored eight goals during the regular season, he then, of course, scored twice in the play-offs, including Sunderland's opening goal in the final. It's not a stretch to say that, without his contributions, Sunderland would not have been promoted to the Premier League in May 2025.
As the Premier League season got underway following promotion, Mayenda scored Sunderland's first goal of the campaign in the 3 – 0 opening-day victory over West Ham. Despite that flying start, opportunities became harder to come by. He made a further 19 league appearances, scoring just one more goal.

Stewart was already a risky, boom-or-bust pick that many teams passed on, because of his inability to consistently get to the quarterback in college. Now it's time to find out if the Bengals are going to get any production out of him – or whether player personnel director Duke Tobin whiffed on another defensive pick.
Stewart is a major x-factor on an overhauled defensive line, because his performance this season will determine if the Bengals have to spend more money or draft capital on edge rusher again next year. The Bengals didn't pick up defensive end Myles Murphy's fifth-year option for 2027, in part, because they want to see if Stewart can replace him.

Former women's basketball coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton says she has reached a settlement with the University of Virginia after her sudden firing on April 5, a week after leading the Cavaliers to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2000.
Details of the settlement were not made public. Agugua-Hamilton shared a statement about it on her Instagram account after the ****** ociated Press published a story about the settlement.
Agugua-Hamilton and her representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment. A spokesperson for Virginia declined to comment.
USA TODAY Sports previously reported that Agugua-Hamilton — widely known in and outside the program as "Coach Mox" — had been the subject of an internal investigation and there were allegations of staff mistreatment within the program, according to four people with knowledge of the situation.
According to a copy of Agugua-Hamilton's contract obtained by USA TODAY Sports, Virginia owed her a sizable buyout if she was terminated without cause. The contract stipulates that Virginia would have to pay her the remaining amount of her base salary, 80% of supplemental compensation, 80% of royalties and any bonuses earned, but not yet received. According to the figures outlined in her contract — which ran through the 2027-28 season — Agugua-Hamilton would have been owed about $1.3 million.

Although a writer from The Athletic recently reported that Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors "may no longer be on the same page," another NBA insider sees things differently.
According to Shams Charania of ESPN, he "fully expects" there to be contract extension negotiations between Curry and the Warriors this summer. Charania also noted, "They (Golden State) are going to give him one (contract extension) if he wants one."
Curry is eligible to add one or two seasons on to his current deal. That said, if Curry doesn't extend with the team this summer, his relationship with the front office will be worth monitoring, especially if the team isn't able to improve on a 37-45 record that saw them finish 10th in the Western Conference.

Despite Palantir's significant share price declines this year, the company reported some impressive results in its first quarter (which ended March 31). Palantir's sales increased 85% to $1.6 billion, and adjusted non-GAAP (adjusted) earnings spiked 154% to $0.33 per share. Both results easily outpaced Wall Street's consensus estimates.
Palantir also reported that its total contract value is now $2.4 billion, up 61% from the year-ago quarter, and that it signed 72 deals worth at least $5 million and 47 deals of at least $10 million.

Stirling (10-0) recently revealed that Ottoni (12-4) was aggressivetowards Steele, and even other fighters, throughout fight weekuntil the weigh-ins. However, the Brazilian's nerves got the betterof him right before stepping out for his bout and he allegedlystarted crying backstage, even ripping off his hand wraps multipletimes.

Cutman Brad Tate, who was in charge of wrapping Ottoni, refused torepeat it after a point. The bout was eventually called off andSteele won his contract in a later Contender Series outing.

Sure, there have been a lot of stories in the MLB media about Colorado Rockies catcher Hunter Goodman. Some of those stories have indicated that Goodman might be solid trade bait as the MLB Trade Deadline draws closer on Aug. 3.
But one media outlet is making a prediction. What is it? The Rockies will extend Goodman on his contract.
This season, Goodman has been the power hitter in the middle of the Rockies' lineup. He has 30-plus home runs already and reaching the 40-home run level is not out of the realm of possibilities.
Keeping Goodman is a wise choice for Colorado, should they not trade him at all. A couple of other stories have come out in the past couple of days indicating that the asks that the Rockies are making for any deal is too steep.

Vita Vea's trade request should put the San Francisco 49ers on the phone with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
NFL Network reported that Vea asked to be moved after extension talks stalled. The two-time Pro Bowler is entering the final year of his contract with a $17 million base salary, giving San Francisco a rare chance to address one of its most uncertain position groups with a proven difference-maker.
The 49ers may also fit Vea's preferred destination. Football **** yst Ted Nguyen reported on X, citing a source, that Vea "wants to go to a California team or the Raiders." A return to the Bay Area would carry obvious appeal for Vea, who attended Milpitas High School before becoming the No. 12 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

The Portland Trail Blazers have seemingly decided that having too many guards isn't actually a problem.
Ja Morant, Damian Lillard, Jrue Holiday, Shaedon Sharpe and Scoot Henderson are all expected to enter training camp on Micah Nori's roster, with Portland reportedly believing it can make the overcrowded group work.
That's certainly one way to handle it.
But if the Blazers are committed to keeping Henderson despite acquiring another ball-dominant point guard in Morant, then it's time to prove they remain equally committed to his future.
Henderson is eligible to sign a rookie-scale extension until Oct. 19, the day before the 2026-27 regular season begins. If the two sides don't reach an agreement, he'll make $13.6 million in the final year of his rookie contract before entering restricted free agency next summer.

The 2026 Major League Baseball Trade Deadline is just one week away. On Aug. 3 at 6 p.m. ET, teams will no longer be able to enter into trades with one another for the rest of the season.
That means the clock is ticking for contenders to decide what they will do in order to bolster their team, and clubs that have more of a grim outlook for the rest of the season must choose whether or not some contracts need to be dealt to acquire more controllable talent.
Atop the list of contenders are the Los Angeles Dodgers, who, at the time of writing, are 67-39 and maintain a half-game advantage over the Milwaukee Brewers for the best record in baseball. The Dodgers already have a lot of star power, but their goal might require additional help.
Los Angeles has the once-in-a-lifetime chance to three-peat as World Series champions, which would make it the first organization since the 1998-00 New York Yankees to do so. If the Dodgers accomplish it, they would join the Yankees and the Athletics as the only organizations in MLB to accomplish such a feat.
So, if the Dodgers are going to use the Deadline to get even better, they are going to have to make a sacrifice, and that might mean losing outfielder Ryan Ward to another team.

It didn't take long for the Chicago Blackhawks to express interest in free agent Patrick Kane.
According to Kane in an interview on Monday's "Pardon My Take" in Chicago, Blackhawks owner Danny Wirtz made an "emotional call" to the Detroit Red Wings' forward just after free agency started on July 1, 2026 at 12:01 p.m., Eastern time.
Three weeks later, Kane signed a two-year, $16 million contract to return to Chicago where he won three Stanley Cups with the Blackhawks in 2010, 2013 and 2015.
"If you were to ask me last year, at the end of the season, I thought I would be going back to Detroit," Kane said in the interview. "Danny (Wirtz) called me at 11:03 (Central time) or something, as soon as free agency opened and it was actually kind of an emotional call from him, a call I'll never forget.

Arsenal are putting together what could be the transfer of the season.
According to The Athletic, they are exploring the possibility of signing Vinicius Junior if the Brazilian does not renew his contract with Real Madrid.

New England Patriots rookie edge rusher Gabe Jacas did not report to training camp.
The second-round pick defender has still yet to sign his rookie contract. It's a concerning situation with no end in sight, although Patriots coach Mike Vrabel did offer a little optimism when speaking with media members on Friday.
"We're continuing to work through the contract," Vrabel said. "I think those have been positive between the club and his representatives. Hopefully, we'll get him in here sooner rather than later. I'm not going to put a timeline on it or a timeframe, but I've spoken to Gabe personally. Excited to get him in when he's under contract."
When pressed for a reason for the hold-up, Vrabel wouldn't give a straight answer.

Jaelan Phillips was already going to be shouldering a heavy load for the Carolina Panthers defense this year. The four-year, $120 million contract he signed in March was the biggest for player in free agency—even more than former sack champion Trey Hendrickson got from the Baltimore Ravens.

Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin is one of the longest-tenured players on the roster. He was drafted by the organization in 2019 and hasn't looked back. Even in the midst of the Dan Snyder drama, McLaurin is one of a handful of players who stuck around when things got hard.
Last season, McLaurin's loyalty was rewarded with a three-year contract extension worth an average of $29 million per year. The biggest problem McLaurin has (and has had since he was drafted) is that he doesn't have a counterpart to take some of the workload. Sure, there are other receivers on the roster, but McLaurin has been tasked with carrying the bulk of the workload his entire career.
Recently, McLaurin was asked about the wide receivers' room and if the Commanders should add another receiver. He replied in typical McLaurin fashion.
"Yeah, that's not really my job to add or subtract on the team," McLaurin replied. "My job is to embrace whoever they bring in. If they bring someone in, if they don't bring anybody in, I have the utmost confidence that the guys in our room are going to step it up."
McLaurin goes on to discuss how the NFL presents opportunities and that guys step up, "every single time."

Whether Kayshon Boutte remains a New England Patriot or not, the 24-year-old wide receiver was present and accounted for at the start of training camp.
Boutte is entering the final year of his rookie contract, and there's still a chance that he winds up on the trade block at some point. His presence on the roster makes the team better, but it won't benefit him in the long run with his future contract tied to this season's production.
The best opportunity for Boutte would come in an offense where he'd see significant snaps and maximize his stat output. He won't have an opportunity to do that in New England, where A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs are expected to be the top receivers.
With that said, the Patriots aren't going to give Boutte away, either. NFL insider Albert Breer noted that he believed that the former LSU standout could have been had for a fifth-round draft pick during the 2026 NFL Draft. If that remains the case, a receiver-needy team could float the Patriots an offer at some point.
Until that happens, it looks like Boutte is in New England to stay.

Manchester City defender Abdukodir Khusanov signed a five-year contract extension with the Premier League club on Saturday.
Khusanov helped City win the FA Cup and League Cup last season, as well as finishing second in the Premier League.
The 22-year-old centre-back joined City from French side Lens in January 2025.
He has been capped 30 times for Uzbekistan and featured at the World Cup, playing in all three of their Group K matches.

Despite the ongoing contract negotiations, New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez showed up for training camp.
For those wondering about the extent of his participation, Gonzalez is expected to participate in practice, according to Patriots coach Mike Vrabel on Friday.
"He is here. I expect him to participate," Vrabel said. "So, those contract negotiations are ongoing between the club and his agents. And I'm excited about having Christian back here with us and the impact he can make on our football team. Really enjoy the person, enjoy the player, and that's what I'm looking forward to."
Gonzalez's contract situation has been one of the biggest stories of the offseason.
The star defensive back is eligible for a contract extension, but he has yet to agree to a new deal with the team. Gonzalez has proven himself to be among the best cornerbacks in the NFL, and he might have a chance to reset the market at the position.
