"Look how scared I am, I am so scared," Filip Hrgovic said, shaking his hands to emulate a quiver, and stretching his face into a Home Alone poster-esque expression. The thing is, he probably should be scared.
That's not to say he should be scared of Moses Itauma specifically, although Itauma has compiled considerable, compelling evidence as to why one would fear him; rather, Hrgovic's cause for concern is the broader dynamic he has created ahead of their fight.
Ahead of Saturday's world heavyweight ***** le clash, the one word he has used liberally, perhaps even haphazardly, is "kid".

So often, sport moves cyclically. Barely two weeks ago, Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury showed in no uncertain terms, through waned performances in faraway lands, that they are at the end. And with that, fans have found themselves firmly at the end of their tethers when it comes to a once-alluring, long-elusive, and now painfully late heavyweight clash. Then this week brings the news that their compatriot, the unbeaten 21-year-old Moses Itauma, will box on home soil in Britain for the chance to become the youngest heavyweight champion since Mike Tyson. It is just the beginning.
In some ways, Itauma's fight with Filip Hrgovic feels like an antithesis to Joshua vs Fury, but either way, it is certainly an antidote.

Joyce, 40, won Commonwealth gold for England and Olympic silver for Britain before turning professional and winning his first 15 fights – even stopping Daniel Dubois, Joseph Parker and Carlos Takam.
However, the heavyweight’s sole win since 2022 is a late stoppage of Kash Ali in 2024, which came after back-to-back KOs by Zhilei Zhang and preceded a hat-trick of defeats: points losses to Derek Chisora and Filip Hrgovic, and a stoppage by Artem Suslenkov this month.
Now, compatriot and fellow heavyweight Orie has given his opinion on the situation, one year after abruptly calling time on his own pro career after just one fight.

The 40-year-old was facing undefeated Russian Suslenkov in his first fight since losing to Filip Hrgovic in April 2025.
But after looking lethargic and lacking power throughout, Joyce appeared to signal that he no longer wanted to fight in the 11th round and stepped backwards.
Joyce offered little defence as Suslenkov, 30, landed a few more blows before the referee stepped in to stop the fight.
Joyce, a silver medallist at the 2016 Olympics, now has a professional record of 16 wins and five losses, with all of those defeats coming in his last six fights.

Last week Oleksandr Usyk relinquished his IBF, WBA 'super' and WBC.
The IBF said that, "in accordance with IBF championship rules", it now wants Sanchez, who is number one in their heavyweight rankings, to fight number three contender Itauma.
It said: "They have until 29 July to reach an agreement."
However, 21-year-old Itauma is scheduled to fight Croatia's Filip Hrgovic at London's O2 Arena on 29 August in what he has called his "toughest fight".
