It has been a good start to the CEO reign of Coca-Cola's (KO) Henrique Braun, a company lifer who took over the corner office in March.
Shares of the beverage giant are trading at a record high, up 32% year to date alone. What's more, Coca-Cola shares — often thought of as a boring investment because, hey, they sell soda and juice — have outperformed every member of the "Magnificent Seven" tech complex this year, per Yahoo Finance AlphaSpace data.
While ******* e's stock has bubbled up, Mark Zuckerberg-led Meta (META) is down by 15%, and Elon Musk's Tesla (TSLA) is off by 22% (the latter being the worst-performing Magnificent Seven member in 2026).
Score one for the expense-watching middle managers at ******* e — a completely different approach than the likes of Meta (aggressively building massive AI data centers) and Tesla (aggressively building robots and robotaxis).
The investment thesis at ******* e has been a classic case of an old-school consumer-products business being reinvented, with a heavy dose of cost cuts and safe-haven appeal in an uncertain world.

Benzinga and Yahoo Finance LLC may earn commission or revenue on some items through the links below.
Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ:NVDA) reports earnings after the bell Wednesday, with Wall Street expecting quarterly revenue of about $92.2 billion, nearly double a year earlier.
But for Adam Curran, portfolio manager of the Yorkville-advised Truth Social God Bless America ETF (NYSE:YALL), the Nvidia thesis is broader than any single quarter. He argues it doesn't depend on today's AI leaders staying on top.
"The reason we own it is because I'm of the thought that pioneers die with arrows in their backs," Curran told Benzinga.
Curran argues Nvidia is less exposed to which AI model or application ultimately wins because demand for computing infrastructure cuts across the industry.

Steve Cohen made his fortune by being right when other people were comfortable being wrong. The Point72 founder runs one of the most data-intensive multi-manager platforms in the world.
So when he makes an 188% increase in one position and a 55% cut in another simultaneously, to me, that is not portfolio rebalancing — but a thesis change.
The Q2 2026 13F filing tells us the story. Cohen sold 1.24 million Broadcom shares, cutting his position by 55%, while purchasing 2.23 million additional Oracle shares, lifting his stake by 188% to 3.41 million shares worth approximately $499.82 million.
Point72's portfolio sits at $88.13 billion across 3,859 holdings with a 27% turnover rate, according to GuruFocus.
This is Cohen's answer to a question every AI investor is asking right now: Which company makes more money from the next phase of the build-out?

Guinness Global Innovators, an investment management company, recently released its Q2 2026 quarterly investor update for its "Guinness Global Innovators Fund". You can download the letter here. The Guinness Global Innovators Fund focuses on investing in global companies that benefit from innovation in technology, communication, globalization, and management strategies. In the second quarter of 2026, the Guinness Global Innovators Fund returned 13.8% in GBP, compared with 13.0% for the MSCI World Index and 13.1% for the IA Global sector average. Easing Middle East tensions, falling oil prices, and renewed enthusiasm for artificial intelligence helped reverse much of the caution seen earlier in the year, with investors rotating back toward growth stocks and AI infrastructure beneficiaries. The Fund benefited from its overweight position in the Information Technology sector, while its overweight position in Communication Services detracted. Avoiding weaker Utilities, Materials, and Energy also supported relative performance. Also, please check the Fund's top five holdings to see its best picks for 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Guinness Global Innovators Fund highlighted Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU). Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) provides financial management, payments and capital, compliance, and marketing products and services. On August 21, 2026, Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) closed at $367.00 per share. The one-month return of Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) was 20.76%, and its shares lost -44.14% over the past 52 weeks. Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) has a market capitalization of $100.4 billion with a 52-week trading range between $252.84 - $705.08.
Guinness Global Innovators Fund stated the following regarding Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"We initially bought Intuit Inc. (NASDAQ:INTU) for its market-leading position in mission-critical tax and accounting software, a deeply embedded QuickBooks platform with significant switching costs, and a strong consumer brand in TurboTax. QuickBooks' c.80% market share, high customer retention and accountant-led distribution created a durable competitive advantage, while Intuit's expanding ecosystem across payments, payroll, lending, Mailchimp, and tax services provided a clear runway for long-term growth and further monetisation. Toward the end of 2025 and in early 2026, markets became increasingly concerned with the 'Saaspocalypse', the implications of AI disruption of the software sector, causing sentiment on the stock to sour. While Intuit continued to deliver resilient results overall, its most recent earnings print changed the thesis for us. Revenue and earnings were modestly ahead of consensus, but the quarter was overshadowed by disappointing TurboTax performance, where revenue growth of 7% fell short of expectations (c.8%) and paid DIY returns declined sharply, particularly among price-sensitive, lower-income filers. This reignited concerns that Intuit's pricing power

Sustainable Growth Advisers (SGA), an investment management company, released its second-quarter 2026 investor letter for its "Global Growth Strategy." The letter can be downloaded here. The SGA Global Growth Portfolio returned 7.4% gross and 7.2% net, compared with 14.9% for the MSCI ACWI and 19.8% for the MSCI ACWI Growth Index. Momentum leadership and enthusiasm around AI infrastructure drove markets, with semiconductor, memory, and hardware stocks accounting for much of the gain. Although the portfolio owned AI beneficiaries, broader holdings lagged despite fundamentals, as median revenue and EPS growth reached 12% and 14% and more than 60% of the holdings beat expectations. SGA believes valuation compression reflects sentiment rather than weaker business quality, leaving the portfolio near its widest discount to the market since inception. The firm continues to favor durable compounders and expects 16% revenue growth and 20% earnings growth over three years. Also, please check the Fund's top five holdings to see its best picks for 2026.

(NYSE:YUM) has a market capitalization of $42.84 billion.
SGA Global Growth Strategy stated the following regarding Yum! Brands, Inc. (NYSE:YUM) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"We met with Jon Hixon, Yum! Brands, Inc.'s (NYSE:YUM) Chief Sustainability Officer, as well as members of legal and human resources teams to discuss several topics relevant to our investment thesis, including human capital management, geopolitical and reputational risks, corporate governance, and sustainability reporting. Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) stock has been a disappointment for some investors in 2026. The stock price is up 15%, which is beating the broader market's 12% rise, but it isn't outperforming the way it has in the previous three years. In 2026, Nvidia has reported strong results so far that suggest the growth thesis continues, yet the market has grown skeptical.
This makes now a great time to consider buying. Just know that the window could be closing fast. On Wednesday, Aug. 26, Nvidia reports fiscal 2027 second-quarter results (for the quarter ending July 30). Because Nvidia is valued at an attractive level heading into earnings, this could be the last chance investors have to buy the stock cheaply, as there is a good shot the stock experiences a strong, significant rally following the report.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
Given its continued stellar growth rate and reasonable valuation, I can think of few stocks that are better buys. All of that could change depending on the quality of Nvidia's earnings and the market's reaction afterward.
Nvidia makes computing equipment, with most of its products centered around its GPU ecosystem. Nvidia GPUs are the industry standard in AI computing right now, and nearly every product that launches is compared to theirs. So, checking Nvidia's valuation versus its competitors is a smart move.

Medtronic plc (NYSE:MDT) and Tenet Healthcare Corporation (NYSE:THC) offer investors two very different healthcare growth stories. Medtronic's (NYSE:MDT) thesis rests on whether a new generation of medical devices can produce a durable turnaround across its enormous portfolio. Tenet (NYSE:THC), meanwhile, is generating stronger earnings by improving hospital profitability and focusing its ambulatory business on higher-acuity procedures.
The comparison ultimately comes down to whether investors prefer Medtronic's (NYSE:MDT) innovation-led recovery or Tenet's (NYSE:THC) stronger operating leverage.
Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) reported its highest annual revenue growth in a decade in its fiscal Q4 and full-year 2026 results, suggesting that years of investment in faster-growing technologies are beginning to produce meaningful results. Growth opportunities including Affera, Symplicity, Hugo, Altaviva, and Stealth AXiS give the company several potential drivers rather than leaving its recovery dependent on a single product.
Cardiac Ablation Solutions has emerged as a particularly important contributor. Revenue increased 78% globally, including 124% growth in the United States, as newer products strengthened Medtronic's (NYSE:MDT) position in the expanding cardiac-ablation market. The company is also investing in innovation and acquisitions, including targeted investments in intracardiac echocardiography catheter technology.
The breadth of Medtronic's (NYSE:MDT) pipeline supports the possibility that its recent acceleration can spread across more of the portfolio. Improving sentiment toward the wider medical-technology sector could provide an additional catalyst if the company maintains its execution. BTIG has argued that MedTech may be stabilizing following a period of underperformance, although company-specific results will ultimately matter more than broader sector sentiment.

Micron Technology (NASDAQ:MU) stands out as the cleanest AI-memory exposure for long-horizon portfolios right now, and the math is not close. At $966.78 with a forward P/E of around 13, investors are being handed a hyperscaler-adjacent monopoly-like memory franchise at a value multiple. This is a rare valuation window on a company whose earnings power just tripled in a single fiscal year.
Micron's trailing P/E sits at 21, but the forward multiple is where the thesis crystallizes: 6. That reflects Q4 FY2026 guidance of $50 billion in revenue and $31 non-GAAP EPS, with gross margins of roughly 86%. Wall Street's average price target of $1,501.98 implies substantial upside, and the ***** yst tally reads nine Strong Buy ratings, 31 Buy ratings, five hold ratings and zero Sell ratings.

I like doing statistical ****** ysis for two primary reasons. There are two main biases that it combats and we are all prey to those biases at one time or another. The first form of bias is what I would call immediacy bias. A great example of that is the string of short starts that the Astros are currently going through. The temptation is to ****** ume that this has been constant throughout the season when that is almost never the case. There are ebbs and flows to these things, so looking at overall numbers can help us combat that bias.
The second bias is a local bias. We watch the Astros. Some of us watch them religiously. So, when we are watching one team 162 times a season and the other teams maybe a handful of times, it is easy to look at what your local group is doing and ****** ume that it is either really good or really bad. We simply don't have anything to compare it to. This becomes important when we are looking at relative strengths and weaknesses of a team. This can come into play in terms of game to game strategy or long-term questions about how the team should be structured.
We call this the lab because I like to start with observations that can be formed into a testable hypothesis. In this case, the hypothesis is that the Astros overly rely on their bullpen for innings because their starters do not go deep enough into games. We can test that simply by comparing them with the rest of the American League to see if that is true comparatively. We will start with the starting pitchers only in terms of innings pitched and ERA.

Bitcoin functions as a genuine cheat code for retiring without ever selling, according to **** yst and entrepreneur Mark Moss, who laid out that thesis in a recent Coin Stories podcast interview.
His central thesis runs counter to conventional wisdom. The goal should never be to sell Bitcoin to fund a lifestyle, but to stay in the owner column rather than the consumer column.
Under the debt-based monetary system in place since 1971, money enters circulation through credit, and credit requires collateral. Owning even $1 of Bitcoin makes someone an owner who can borrow against it.
Selling, by contrast, triggers tax events, eliminates that collateral, and converts a long-term **** et into short-term spending. He also challenges traditional retirement thinking.
The goal should not be freedom from work, he argues, but freedom to work on whatever someone actually chooses.

Palantir's Q2 numbers undercut Burry's thesis, with revenue up 93%, U.S. commercial sales up 149%, and $1.22 billion in free cash flow.
For Burry to win, Palantir's government moat, commercial growth, and cash generation would all need to simultaneously collapse, but the data does not show that happening.

The stock market has never had trouble producing extreme opinions, particularly when investors are trying to put a value on companies at the center of a technological revolution. Artificial intelligence has made that problem even harder. Some investors see a once-in-a-generation transformation that will create enormous pools of profits. Others see a speculative cycle in which today's growth rates eventually collide with tomorrow's valuation reality.

Aristotle Capital Boston, LLC, an investment advisor, released its "Small Cap Equity Fund" Q2 2026 investor letter. A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. The Fund returned 13.69% in the second quarter of 2026, trailing the Russell 2000 Index's 21.49% gain as security selection in information technology and industrials weighed on performance despite positive allocation effects. Top contributors included MACOM Technology Solutions and Mercury Systems, which benefited from strong demand in semiconductor, aerospace, and defense markets, while Alamos Gold and Huron Consulting Group detracted due to operational challenges, weaker gold prices, and investor concerns surrounding artificial intelligence disruption. During the quarter, the fund initiated positions in IPG Photonics and UMB Financial, citing opportunities tied to advanced manufacturing, automation, reshoring trends, and diversified financial services, while exiting Americold Realty Trust, Byline Bancorp, and Verra Mobility. Looking ahead, management remains constructive on U.S. small-cap equities, noting that valuations remain attractive relative to large caps and that earnings growth is expected to accelerate into late 2026 and 2027. Factors such as increased merger and acquisition activity, improving domestic manufacturing due to reshoring and infrastructure investments, and a favorable regulatory environment are expected to support this ******* et class in the long term. In addition, please check the Fund's top five holdings to know its best picks in 2026.

Verra Mobility Corporation (NASDAQ:VRRM) provides smart mobility technology and transportation solutions for commercial fleets, government programs, and parking management. The one-month return of Verra Mobility Corporation (NASDAQ:VRRM) was 19.62% while its shares traded between $3.4000 and $25.56500 over the last 52 weeks. On August 19, 2026, Verra Mobility Corporation (NASDAQ:VRRM) stock closed at approximately $4.500 per share, with a market capitalization of about $709.74 million.
Aristotle Small Cap Equity Fund stated the following regarding Verra Mobility Corporation (NASDAQ:VRRM) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
Verra Mobility Corporation (NASDAQ:VRRM) is a provider of automated enforcement, tolling and parking technologies and solutions. We exited the position after the loss of a significant customer contract materially changed our investment thesis, reducing confidence in the company's long-term earnings and growth outlook. The proceeds were redeployed into higher-conviction opportunities.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) received a major vote of confidence from Rothschild Redburn today, with the firm upgrading the stock from Neutral to "Buy" and raising its price target to $400 from $260. The upgrade rests on two major catalysts for Apple: its entry into premium foldables and a strategic reset to the Apple Intelligence platform.
Apple's bull case lies within its tight integration of premium hardware, proprietary silicon, and its rapidly expanding services layer. For the near future, **** yst James Cordwell anticipates iPhone sales to grow at a 12% five-year annual compound rate, roughly 3-14% above consensus expectations between fiscal 2026 and 2030.
This anticipated increase is backed by Apple's potential entry into the premium foldables market, particularly with the launch of iPhone Ultra. Not only will Apple gain a new product category with the launch, but will also be able to lift its average selling prices for the broader iPhone lineup.
This thesis is backed by numbers. The **** yst firm noted how Apple already boasts a base of 2.55 billion devices, supported by a degree of customer retention only few competitors can rival.
The second part of Apple's bull thesis, according to the firm, is its Services business. The firm believes that it is the most valuable part of Apple's franchise, growing at roughly three times the rate of Products. The business generates gross margins of roughly 75%, more than double of that earned on Product sales.

Greenhaven Road Capital, an investment management company, released its second-quarter 2026 investor letter. A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. The fund achieved an approximate 11% net return in the second quarter, indicating progress from the first quarter. Key changes to the portfolio will include lower concentration and increased investments with near-term catalysts, alongside a proactive stance on profit-taking. The focus will remain on owning strong businesses and conducting research that challenges consensus views, as several major investments are poised for significant events within the year. Despite declines in market multiples, underlying businesses continue to grow, suggesting a favorable positioning for returns. Additionally, reviewing the Fund's top five holdings could help identify its best picks for 2026.
In its Q2 2026 investor letter, Greenhaven Road Capital highlighted Lifecore Biomedical, Inc. (NASDAQ:LFCR). Lifecore Biomedical, Inc. (NASDAQ:LFCR) is an integrated contract development and manufacturing organization that engages in the aseptic fill and finish of formulations and highly viscous sterile injectable pharmaceutical drug and medical device products. On August 14, 2026, Lifecore Biomedical, Inc. (NASDAQ:LFCR) closed at $4.72 per share, reflecting a market capitalization of $178.67 million. Lifecore Biomedical, Inc. (NASDAQ:LFCR) posted a one-month return of -3.41%, while its shares lost 38.78% over the past 52 weeks.
Greenhaven Road Capital stated the following regarding Lifecore Biomedical, Inc. (NASDAQ:LFCR) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Another top-five holding is Lifecore Biomedical, Inc. (NASDAQ:LFCR). The entire thesis is that they can sell their excess manufacturing capacity. The company has announced seven new customers in the past nine months, and while the customers are not named specifically, breadcrumbs indicate at least two large customers. For a relatively new CEO and his revamped sales team, this is tangible progress.
Public investors do not appear to fully value Lifecore's contract wins because lengthy FDA approval processes delay the ******* ociated revenue. Yet those approvals also make the contracts exceptionally sticky, a characteristic private investors are typically more willing to value. I continue to believe the shares will trade higher or the company will be sold. A recent SEC filing indicated that the company continues to evaluate a range of strategic alternatives. Insiders own more than 30% of the company, and in most scenarios I model, a sale would occur at a substantial premium to today's share price, potentially more than 100%. In my opinion, there is little to no takeover premium embedded in the price of the stock. Because Alcon's contractual minimums begin in 2027, growth should return in 2027 and accelerate in 2028. Time will tell if the company remains public."

The bulls have returned to Target's (TGT) stock in a big way this year on hopes for a turnaround under new CEO Michael Fiddelke.
That upbeat thesis — which has powered shares up 59% this year — is about to be put to the test later this week when the company reports second quarter earnings. But even if Target delivers on the quarter and raises its full-year profit guidance as expected, it may not be enough to keep the stock price charging higher.
"Investor expectations are very elevated into Target's second quarter print, but we believe the more important debate is whether improving store and merchandising execution supports confidence in growth durability in FY27 and beyond," Deutsche Bank ******* yst Krisztina Katai said.
Target is expected to post a second quarter comparable sales increase of 2.3% and earnings of $2.29. Comparable sales fell 1.5% in last year's second quarter amid a host of merchandising execution issues. Earnings came in at $2.05.
Since the start of 2026, however, Target has moved quickly to rewrite its merchandising wrongs.

Though it's not foolproof investing wisdom, and it is stock-specific, there is something to the "boring is beautiful" thesis. It's one reason that so many income investors and risk-averse market participants embrace consumer staples stocks.
The other side of the boring coin is that mundane doesn't captivate hearts, minds, and investor capital when growth stocks are in vogue, and that's very much the case these days. Many market participants are chasing tech stocks and pondering what's next in the world of artificial intelligence (AI).
Continue »
Those trends don't necessarily mean that Wall Street is in the midst of another round of Dutch tulip mania, nor that a bubble will imminently burst, but investors' adulation for what they perceive as glitzy names helps explain how some defensive stocks can slip through the cracks, even when those companies are delivering solid showings. Such is life for Sysco (NYSE: SYY), the king of food distributors.

Investors in Home Depot (HD) stock were greeted by a surprise on Tuesday when CEO Ted Decker said he was taking a brief medical leave that will last a few months. The timing comes only days before the home improvement behemoth releases fiscal second-quarter results on Aug. 18.
But there is a key nuance here for investors. Decker has not resigned, and Home Depot has put in place two very experienced executives to split Decker's duties. Ann-Marie Campbell, senior executive vice president of U.S. stores and operations, will handle operations, while CFO Richard McPhail will handle finance and the company's Pro subsidiaries. For now, this looks more like a brief governance problem than a change to the underlying investment thesis on Home Depot.

The spending is going up. The margins are going down. Free cash flow is negative. And a Wall Street ***** yst who covers one of the most closely watched stocks in the market just published a note saying the next quarter has to be different.
The note comes from Morgan Stanley. The company it covers is Tesla. ***** yst Andrew Percoco has been on the Tesla account since longtime ***** yst Adam Jonas moved to the automotive side. His message on August 11 is direct. The long-term AI thesis is still intact. But the numbers need to start showing up, according to Investing.com.
Percoco kept his Equal Weight rating and $415 price target on Tesla. The stock was trading around $330 at the time of publication. That puts the target roughly 26% above where the stock was sitting.
The note says the second quarter earnings call did not change his long-term view. Tesla is positioned to lead in physical AI. That part of the thesis is not in question. What has changed is the urgency around proof. Weaker gross margins, higher research and development spending, and extended free cash flow burn have "sharpened our and investors' focus on measurable progress across Robotaxi and Optimus," Percoco wrote.

Over the past decade, power producers were valued as cyclical businesses, as their performance was **** ociated with commodity prices and weather patterns. This notion no longer holds, as the expansion of AI, industrial electrification, and data centers has driven a significant increase in electricity demand. This demand is likely to last for several years rather than quarters.
As of now, the broader market has been rewarding independent power producers and utilities that have reliable generation **** ets, exposure to fast-growing electricity markets, and can tap future cash flows via hedging programs and long-term contracts. Therefore, electricity is now viewed as a critical infrastructure layer beneath the broader AI economy.
Vistra Corp. (NYSE:VST) is not just a merchant power company whose earnings are sensitive to wholesale electricity prices. It is now valued as a strategic power infrastructure platform, which has exposure to AI-backed electricity demand, natural gas expansion, nuclear generation, and long-term contractual opportunities. This thesis was further reinforced by the recent quarterly results. In Q2 2026, Ongoing Operations Adjusted EBITDA saw an increase of over 30% YoY to $1.77 billion, with the company maintaining 97% or greater commercial availability throughout the fleet during strong demand in Texas and PJM.
Furthermore, Vistra Corp. (NYSE:VST)'s management reaffirmed FY 2026 guidance, expecting Ongoing Operations Adjusted EBITDA and Ongoing Operations Adjusted FCFbG (Adjusted Free Cash Flow before Growth) of $6.8 billion - $7.6 billion and $3.925 billion - $4.725 billion, respectively. For FY 2027, it gave an Ongoing Operations Adjusted EBITDA midpoint opportunity range of $7.4 billion - $7.8 billion.
Apart from the financial results, Wall Street lauded the visibility rooted in the business. As of early August, the company already hedged ~100% of expected generation volumes for FY 2026, 94% for FY 2027, and 72% for FY 2028. This offers strong forward visibility of cash flows.

On August 12, Marex Group (NASDAQ:MRX) turned in a quarter so far ahead of expectations that its stock jumped nearly 19% in a single session. Second quarter revenue climbed 39% year-over-year to $696 million, blowing past the roughly $589 million Wall Street had penciled in. Every one of Marex's four business segments posted double-digit or even triple-digit revenue growth. That kind of across-the-board strength raises an obvious question: is this real, durable momentum, or a peak quarter that investors are chasing after the fact?
Marex's growth in the second quarter of 2026 wasn't confined to one hot desk. Agency and Execution revenue rose 35% to $351 million, Prime revenue hit a record $120 million, and Market Making revenue more than doubled to over $118 million, led by metals and securities. Solutions revenue jumped 74%. Management noted that market volumes on key exchanges actually fell 17% compared to the first quarter, yet adjusted profit before tax still grew 9% quarter-over-quarter anyway. That decoupling from raw exchange activity is the thesis Marex has been building since its IPO in April 2024, and the track record backs it up: adjusted profit before tax has grown year over year in 19 of the last 20 quarters.
The company is also deepening existing relationships rather than simply chasing new logos. Clients generating more than $5 million in annual revenue grew to 77 in 2026, up from just 36 in 2024, and average revenue per client climbed 34%. Acquisitions are compounding that growth further. The roughly $60 million premium Marex paid for its 2025 deals, including Winterflood, now produces about $60 million in annualized profit after tax, a return on that premium in barely a year, with the pending BrightPoint deal set to add more.
Not every figure in the release was pure upside. Reported earnings per share benefited from a $35 million nonoperating gain on the sale of the Winterflood custody business, a one-time boost that adjusted EPS of $1.72 strips back out. Net interest income actually fell to $30 million in the quarter from $35 million a year earlier, as higher interest expense from Marex's $500 million debt issuances in May 2025 and April 2026 ate into the benefit of larger client balances.
The company leaned further into debt during the quarter too, raising another $500 million in hybrid capital and $500 million in senior unsecured notes. And while diversification cushioned the blow, exchange volumes still fell 17% quarter over quarter, a reminder that the business is more resilient to cyclicality now, not immune to it.

Sam Altman's push for a $1 trillion OpenAI IPO is on a collision course with SoftBank's need to repay a $40 billion bridge loan early next year, creating real tension around the deal's timing and valuation. All this tension matters for Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) and Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) shareholders, because both companies have meaningful OpenAI exposure on their balance sheets and in their narratives.
OpenAI filed a confidential S‑1 with the Securities and Exchange Commission in June and sits at a private post‑money valuation of around $852 billion after its March 2026 funding round. Reports put its 2025 revenue near $13 billion and its 2026 revenue near $2 billion per month, numbers that support a high valuation multiple, but not a stress‑free one. Altman has told investors he will not take the company public below $1 trillion, so the IPO must clear that bar, or the listing will stay on hold.

To fund its expanded stake in OpenAI, SoftBank arranged an unsecured $40 billion bridge loan that matures in March 2027. Bridge paper exists to carry a borrower into a specific liquidity moment, which in this case lines up with a fourth-quarter 2026 or first-quarter 2027 window for OpenAI's IPO. If public markets balk at putting a $1 trillion valuation on the ChatGPT developer, SoftBank will either have to refinance at tougher terms or the company will have to accept a lower market cap -- an outcome that could ripple through its broader AI story.
Microsoft owns roughly 27% of OpenAI after committing about $13 billion to it a few years ago, and it's in talks to add a bit under $10 billion more to its stake in the new funding round. A trillion-dollar IPO would turn that stake into one of the most valuable strategic holdings in corporate history, which supports the long‑term AI infrastructure thesis around Azure and Copilot. The risk here is that SoftBank's need for speed will push OpenAI to go public before the economics of enterprise AI are stable, leaving Microsoft with headline valuation gains but more scrutiny on capital intensity and on an AI partner whose stock could swing hard.

During the August 6 episode of CNBC's Mad Money, Jim Cramer pointed to a growing sector rotation as portfolio managers look for innovation outside the mega-cap technology ***** e. He said:
Finally, tech had such a run that portfolio managers want exposure to other sectors of the market that still have innovation. Think of them as non- tech tech stocks. For the… Charitable Trust club, we've been emphasizing Eli Lilly and Johnson & Johnson. And we talked about these… I talked about them at length with Jeff Marks today at our 10:20 call. They both had terrific quarters and deserve to be bought on any weakness.
Cramer's thesis highlights how mega-cap healthcare operators provide defensive shelter with strong dividend profiles and maintain high-growth product pipelines. Cramer further emphasized that innovation in biotechnology is driving tangible financial gains. He said:
Amgen just racked up an excellent quarter. And credit where credit's due, time to accept that Moderna has begun to realize its stream of specialized vaccines for specific illnesses. Just last night, the company, it received FDA approval for its mRNA flu vaccine. Well, there's a reason why the stock's up 83% for the year.
Later in the August 6 episode, a caller asked Cramer about Bristol-Myers Squibb Company (NYSE:BMY) after holding the stock through recent buyout speculation. In response, Cramer remarked:

US-based investment company McIntyre Partnerships delivered flat performance in H1 2026, returning 0% gross and -1% net compared to the Russell 2000 Value Index's 23% return. A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. The second quarter results were a complete reversal of Q1 results, with the portfolio appreciating 23.0% (gross) and 23.3% (net), outperforming the index's 17.3%. The overall market surge contributed to this performance, alongside several positive developments related to the firm's holdings. Since inception, the fund has returned ~16% gross and ~12% net per annum, surpassing the benchmark's return of ~9% per annum. The portfolio is highly concentrated, with QDEL as the largest holding, creating volatility. Despite mixed results, the firm remains confident in the portfolio, particularly with QDEL viewed as a key investment opportunity. Potential for further growth is expected from several large investments with promising catalysts. In addition, you can check the Strategy's top 5 holdings to determine its best picks for 2026.
In its Q2 2026 investor letter, McIntyre Partnerships highlighted QuidelOrtho Corporation NASDAQ:QDEL). QuidelOrtho Corporation (NASDAQ:QDEL) is a diagnostic testing solutions company that provides solutions across Labs, Transfusion Medicine, Point of Care, and Molecular Diagnostics. On August 7, 2026, QuidelOrtho Corporation (NASDAQ:QDEL) closed at $12.28 per share, reflecting a market capitalization of $837.72 million. QuidelOrtho Corporation (NASDAQ:QDEL) posted a one‑month return of ‑837.72%, while its shares lost 46.55% over the past 52 weeks."
McIntyre Partnerships stated the following regarding QuidelOrtho Corporation (NASDAQ:QDEL) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"As I argued in the Q1 letter outlining our thesis, QuidelOrtho Corporation (NASDAQ:QDEL) is essentially three different businesses operating under one corporate entity, and a division could be sold to deleverage the company. QDEL appears to be following this path. According to the FT article, QDEL is looking to sell its POC division for roughly $1.5B. POC is the old Quidel business, and the transaction would essentially undo the 2022 merger of Quidel and Ortho. ***** uming a sale near the rumored price, the QDEL RemainCo would be ~2.5x levered and consist of the legacy Ortho business. Critically, the driver of QDEL's repeated missed estimates over the last three years is the legacy Quidel business, while legacy Ortho has been a steady performer, albeit with negative Chinese regulatory news in Q1. Once the Chinese regulations are finalized in the coming months, I believe the legacy Ortho business will return to its historical, consistent high single-digit EBITDA growth.
Additionally, I believe Q2 will mark a low point for cash flow generation, a frequent bear point. As QDEL delevers and exits the volatile flu and COVID business, I believe the stock can reweight towards peers in the 11-15x EV/EBITDA range. If not, I believe the company will

As the Los Angeles Rams get ready for their Week 1 showdown in Australia, the team has been overly cautious when it comes to the health of their players, especially their stars. It's allowed players to participate in complete or near-complete seasons due to the lack of wear-and-tear being put on their bodies during practice.
The reason they do this is to avoid the injuries currently plaguing the NFL. For their Week 1 opponent, the San Francisco 49ers, they have been the antithesis of the Rams, using physical practices to build calluses for the season. The 49ers have been ravaged by injuries for years, and according to 49ers insider Matt Maiocco, it appears All-Pro defender Nick Bosa has suffered a bit of a setback from an ACL injury. It has forced the 49ers to take things slowly with their top pass rusher.
"Coach Kyle Shanahan said 49ers DE Nick Bosa has tendinitis, which, he said, is "a pretty normal thing with ACLs." He said the team has to be smart with Bosa from week to week," wrote Maiocco.
Bosa only played in three games last season and hasn't had a double-digit sack season since 2023. The Rams and 49ers are set to play in one month, with their contest being set for September 10th.
