Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated (NASDAQ:VRTX) could be positioning itself for its next major phase of growth following its roughly $10 billion acquisition of Crinetics Pharmaceuticals. The deal gives the company immediate exposure to the endocrinology market and provides a new commercial platform beyond its established cystic fibrosis franchise.
On September 3, Citigroup **** yst Geoff Meacham highlighted the strategic importance of the Crinetics acquisition, arguing it could diversify Vertex's business while complementing its existing cystic fibrosis franchise and newer businesses in renal disease, hematology, and pain.
Through the transaction, Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated (NASDAQ:VRTX) gains access to Palsonify (paltusotine), an oral treatment for acromegaly that has already received regulatory approval in Europe. Paltusotine is also in Phase 3 development for carcinoid syndrome **** ociated with neuroendocrine tumors.
Palsonify is particularly important because it provides an immediate commercial revenue opportunity, rather than requiring the company to wait several years for an entirely new drug to reach the market.
Early uptake of Palsonify has been encouraging, supported by expanding physician adoption and improving reimbursement coverage. If that momentum continues, the drug could become an important contributor to Vertex's revenue growth.

Toward the end of the lightning round on September 8, when a caller inquired about AstraZeneca PLC (NYSE:AZN), Mad Money host Jim Cramer commented:
Alright, now, AstraZeneca reminds me of a company, it's not unlike Novartis. I'm a little nervous about it. It's been missing some of its trials. I don't think COPD is enough to change my mind… I am not going to put my money on AstraZeneca.
AstraZeneca PLC (NYSE:AZN) maintains a solid financial foundation supported by steady top-line growth and disciplined cost management. In its second-quarter report, the company generated total revenue of $15.38 billion, marking a 6.4% increase compared to the same period last year. Adjusted earnings per share reached $2.63, outperforming ****** yst consensus estimates.
The profitability was driven by strong global demand for core oncology and rare disease treatments, which successfully offset revenue headwinds from generic competition affecting older blockbusters like Farxiga and Brilinta. With a net margin hovering around 17.02% and management reiterating its full-year guidance for mid-to-high single-digit revenue growth along with low double-digit core EPS expansion, the core business continues to demonstrate commercial resilience.
The primary driver behind the skepticism could be based on tangible execution risks and regulatory hurdles that threaten AstraZeneca PLC's (NYSE:AZN) long-term top line. A significant blow to the rare disease division came when anselamimab failed to achieve statistical significance for the primary endpoint in the overall AL amyloidosis population in the Phase III CARES program, although AstraZeneca reported encouraging results in a prespecified subgroup of patients with kappa light-chain amyloidosis.

Give all the credit to Duke. They're able to get out of here with a W. Obviously, one of the things that we've really prided ourselves on over the last five years, going to year six, is more games are lost than won. Something that we try to get right from day one since we got here. And I'm not diminishing anything Duke did. I just think that we did enough things to cause us to fail. Obviously, turnover a little bit, but I think it was more the penalties and the mental errors that just caused us to self-implode a couple times on really all three phases. So that's all on me. I got to clean up the details, just simple things from the way we communicate, the way we execute in critical moments, some things that could have easily been avoided. And just a shame, I apologize.
Obviously to get a sell out here and to have a crowd the way we did, winning is addictive. For players, coaches, and fans, you get used to having success in those moments. And when it doesn't happen, you're upset, you're ***** , you're mad, you're angry. And I definitely fall into that category. My Saturday's always a lot better. I got two girls at home that love to have a fun time. And when you don't have success, it just sits with you for seven days. So the part that you got to learn is you'll learn more and more. The more you go through these moments, you just learn so much more in moments of adversity than you do in moments of success. So this is definitely an adverse moment that we got to take advantage of. I ask them to have big eyes and ears tomorrow. As coaches, we need to set the standard early on in the meetings to accept the things that we need to do better and hopefully put ourselves in a position to get back on track sooner than later.
So I don't know anything about injuries. I know TJ went out there at the end. We had a couple guys go out that came back, but he's the only one that I was told wasn't going to return to the game after he went out.

Nyxoah SA (NASDAQ:NYXH) announced the first patient implantation in BREATHE on September 7. The prospective, single-arm U.S. post-approval study will evaluate Genio hypoglossal-nerve stimulation in adults aged 22 or older with moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea for whom standard-care treatments have failed, cannot be tolerated, or are unsuitable. Plans call for up to 229 patients at up to 25 centers, with follow-up lasting up to five years.
For Nyxoah SA (NASDAQ:NYXH), the milestone begins a new phase of evidence collection following Genio's August 2025 FDA approval. The co-primary effectiveness endpoints are apnea-hypopnea-index and oxygen-desaturation-index responder rates at 12 months. Device- and procedure-related serious adverse events will be **** sed at 12 months and annually thereafter. The investment question is whether that evidence can help turn clinical credibility into sustained commercial adoption.
Nyxoah SA (NASDAQ:NYXH) has an opportunity to demonstrate how Genio performs across different physicians and treatment settings. Consistent outcomes across participating centers could give referring sleep physicians and implanting surgeons greater confidence in patient selection and treatment delivery.
The product offers a distinct approach. Genio stimulates hypoglossal nerves on both sides of the tongue, using a battery-free implant powered by an external wearable. For Nyxoah SA (NASDAQ:NYXH), documenting effectiveness and safety in routine practice could help physicians **** s how that design fits their patients' needs.
Longer follow-up could also strengthen the evidence available to payers. Nyxoah SA (NASDAQ:NYXH) could use sustained responses and safety findings to support coverage discussions, while participating centers gain practical experience with implantation and follow-up. That would make BREATHE valuable beyond a single headline response rate.

USA Rare Earth, Inc. (NASDAQ:USAR) announced on September 4 that it completed the Serra Verde acquisition one day earlier, paying $300 million in cash and issuing approximately 126.8 million common shares. The transaction adds Brazil's Pela Ema mine to Less Common Metals in the United Kingdom, the Stillwater, Oklahoma, magnet facility, and the Round Top project in Texas.
Serra Verde began production in January 2024 but is still completing optimization and commissioning. Stage 1 is expected to reach an annual run rate of approximately 4,000 metric tons of total rare-earth oxide, or TREO, by year-end 2026. Stage 2 construction targets average annual production of 6,400 metric tons, with commissioning expected to begin within 12 months.
Serra Verde had $425 million of principal outstanding under its U.S. International Development Finance Corporation loan at June 30. At closing, a $100 million tranche was extinguished after related warrants were exercised, leaving approximately $325 million of principal. The unaudited pro forma combined balance sheet reported a $304.1 million debt carrying value after discounts and issuance costs.
Serra Verde gives USA Rare Earth, Inc. (NASDAQ:USAR) a producing source of dysprosium, terbium, and other rare earths used in permanent magnets. Combining mining, metals, alloys, and magnet manufacturing could capture more of the value chain outside Asia.
The Phase 1 offtake agreement supports revenue visibility. It covers 100% of Pela Ema's Phase 1 products, subject to limited carve-outs, and includes escalating price floors annually. The counterparty is a special-purpose vehicle capitalized by the U.S. government and private investors. The arrangement provides contractual price protection, subject to the counterparty's performance.

Royalty Pharma plc (NASDAQ:RPRX) disclosed that pelacarsen failed the Phase 3 Lp(a)HORIZON cardiovascular-outcomes trial conducted by Novartis AG (NYSE:NVS). The randomized, double-blind study enrolled 8,323 patients with elevated lipoprotein(a), or Lp(a), and established cardiovascular disease.
Pelacarsen lowered Lp(a), but the study did not meet its primary endpoint of reducing cardiovascular events compared with placebo in the overall population. The endpoint combined cardiovascular death, nonfatal heart attack, nonfatal stroke, and urgent coronary revascularization requiring hospitalization. Complete results have not yet been presented.
Royalty Pharma plc (NASDAQ:RPRX) provided Ionis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:IONS) with $500 million in January 2023. The transaction allocated $150 million to pelacarsen royalties and $350 million to Spinraza royalties. The clinical failure shifts the financial focus from uncertain pelacarsen upside to recovery through Spinraza.
Royalty Pharma plc (NASDAQ:RPRX) acquired 25% of the Spinraza royalties received by Ionis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:IONS) through 2027. That share increases to 45% in 2028 on Spinraza annual sales of up to $1.5 billion.
Following the HORIZON result, the Spinraza interest will revert after aggregate payments to Royalty Pharma plc (NASDAQ:RPRX) reach $550 million, equal to 1.1 times the original funding. Management expects the structure to recover the entire investment and generate a modest positive return despite the clinical failure.

The Chargers dropped their final injury report of Week One and it's about as clean as you could ask for.
Edge rusher Tuli Tuipulotu (hip) is listed as questionable after being a limited participant at practice for most of the week. He dealt with a lower-body injury to begin training camp and it looks like the team is still playing it cautious with him now that the regular season is here.
Cornerback Deane Leonard is the only player listed as out for Sunday's game after missing the entire week of practice. Leonard is the team's fourth cornerback and the best coverage player on special teams. His presence will be missed in the third phase of the game.
game status for week 1 vs. AZ

QUESTIONABLE — Tuli Tuipulotu

OUT — Deane Leonard
With Leonard out, expect Nikko Reed or Kaiir Elam to be elevated for game day. Reed likely gets the nod as he has the greater experience pool in O'Leary's defense over Elam who was just signed following final cuts at the start of the month.

The San Francisco 49ers' 27-7 win over the Los Angeles Rams looked dominant enough in the traditional box score. Brock Purdy threw three touchdown passes, the team rushed for 174 yards, and the defense added a pair of takeaways.
But the advanced numbers tell an even more complete story of just how thoroughly the 49ers controlled the game. The underlying metrics suggest this wasn't just a good night on the scoreboard. It was a genuinely elite performance across nearly every phase of the game.
Here are five advanced stats that go beyond the box score to explain how San Francisco pulled it off.
Brock Purdy's 39-yard touchdown to Demarcus Robinson traveled 44 air yards relative to the line of scrimmage, according to Next Gen Stats. That's the longest completion by air yards of his career. Yes, just 44 air yards. It was a notable outlier in a game where Purdy's average intended air yards per attempt (4.4) was actually his lowest of any season on record, a sign San Francisco mixed shot plays into an otherwise efficient, high-percentage passing attack.

Investment in what most call clean technologies dropped by 17% over the first half of the year, as China switched from subsidies to a market-based approach to those industries, a report from Rhodium Group has revealed.
Investments in things such as wind and solar power rose in other parts of the world, but China's decline more than offset that growth because of China's position as the top investor in clean tech, far ahead of everyone else.
"Geographically, the decline ‌was driven by China, the world's largest cleantech investor, where a shift to market-based pricing put pressure on new renewable power investments," said the author of the report, Hannah Pitt, as quoted by Reuters.
"China's transition toward market-based pricing for new renewable generation in 2025 drove a rush of installations ahead of the deadline, followed by an uneven pullback. Beijing also phased out consumer EV purchase-tax exemptions starting January 2026," the report pointed out.
These decisions led to a sharp slump in alternative energy and electric transport investment of 49% for China, translating into $133 billion. This trend also slashed China's share of clean tech investment from 52% at the end of 2025 to 39% by June this year.

In total, eight teams compete in a single round-robin format for four spots in the semifinals of the competition. In the event of a tie on points, the tiebreaker criteria, in order, are: number of wins, goal difference, goals scored, head-to-head record, fewer red cards, fewer yellow cards, and drawing of lots. On August 27, AstraZeneca PLC (NYSE:AZN) and Amgen Inc. (NASDAQ:AMGN) scored a shared clinical victory. Positive high-level results from the Phase III CROSSING trial showed that their co-developed severe asthma drug, TEZSPIRE, achieved statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvements across both co-primary endpoints, histologic remission and the frequency/severity of dysphagia, and all key secondary endpoints at week 24 in patients with eosinophilic esophagitis. These benefits were sustained through week 52 across both tested doses, accompanied by a safety profile consistent with its approved indications. While CROSSING highlights their joint R&D success, a closer look at their standalone financial performance reveals distinct growth trajectories.
Both pharmaceutical giants delivered solid Q2 2026 results, but AstraZeneca is showing stronger overall financial momentum. AstraZeneca PLC (NYSE:AZN)'s Q2 revenue increased 6% year over year to $15.38 billion, supported by its Oncology franchise, which grew 18% in H1 to $14.12 billion, and its Rare Disease portfolio, which increased 13%. Core EPS rose 21% to $2.63, beating expectations, while management reaffirmed its full-year 2026 outlook for mid-to-high single-digit revenue growth and low double-digit Core EPS growth.
Amgen Inc. (NASDAQ:AMGN) reported Q2 revenue of $10.1 billion, up 10% year over year, while non-GAAP EPS increased 4% to $6.29. Although its key growth products advanced 26%, mature products faced significant biosimilar pressure, with Prolia revenue declining 32% and XGEVA falling 34%. Amgen nevertheless raised its 2026 revenue guidance midpoint to $39.4 billion.
Overall, AZN holds the financial edge due to stronger EPS growth, broader portfolio momentum, and less exposure to the biosimilar erosion affecting AMGN's mature products.
Amgen's bull case is supported by robust growth in key products, which increased 26%, and $3.5 billion in Q2 free cash flow, providing substantial capital flexibility. Wells Fargo raised its Amgen price target to $435 from $400 on September 4, citing potential upside from HORIZON and pipeline ****** ets such as olpasiran. New Phase III VESALIUS-CV data also showed Repatha reduced the risk of death by 20% in high-risk adults without a prior heart attack or stroke, with heart attack risk reductions emerging as early as six months. However, accelerating biosimilar competition affecting legacy franchises such as Prolia and XGEVA remains a key risk to sustained margin expansion.

On September 3, AbbVie Inc. (NYSE:ABBV) finalized its acquisition of clinical-stage biotech Apogee Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ:APGE) for $135.11 per share in cash. The $10.9 billion buyouts immediately fold Apogee's promising inflammatory and immunology (I&I) pipeline into AbbVie's commercial engine. On the exact same day, AbbVie separately reported positive Phase 3 Cervino trial results for its bispecific T-cell engager, etentamig, in relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma. Together, the dual catalysts emphasize how mega-cap pharmaceutical giants are deploying cash flow from legacy franchises to lock in next-generation immunology and oncology ***** ets.
In Q2 2026, AbbVie Inc. (NYSE:ABBV) posted $16.99 billion in net revenue, up 10.2% year over year, while adjusted diluted EPS increased 22.9% to $3.65. Growth was driven by its immunology blockbusters, Skyrizi and Rinvoq, which generated $5.505 billion and $2.525 billion in revenue, respectively, representing growth of 24.4% and 24.5%. These gains more than offset the continued decline in Humira revenue, which fell 35.9% to $756 million amid biosimilar competition. AbbVie reiterated its full-year 2026 adjusted EPS guidance of $13.87–$14.07, including a $0.14 dilutive impact from the Apogee transaction.
As a clinical-stage biotech, Apogee Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ:APGE) generated no product revenue in Q2 2026, while R&D expenses reached $67.3 million and G&A expenses totaled $24.3 million, resulting in a quarterly net loss of $85.9 million. Despite the cash burn, the company maintained a strong liquidity position, with $1.3 billion in cash and marketable securities, alongside a $1.3 billion non-dilutive credit collaboration with Blackstone Life Sciences to support Phase 3 trials of its lead ***** et, zumilokibart.
Financially, AbbVie is vastly superior in immediate cash generation and profitability, whereas Apogee represented pure clinical optionality backed by robust liquidity.
For AbbVie, acquiring Apogee's optimized antibody portfolio, including zumilokibart for atopic dermatitis, strengthens its post-Humira immunology franchise. Combined with internal R&D advances such as etentamig, which achieved statistically significant overall response rate and progression-free survival results in the Phase 3 Cervino study, along with an 87.9% 12-month overall survival rate, AbbVie demonstrates potential to sustain strong organic growth.

Dow is considering an exit from its stake in the $20-billion Sadara Chemical Company venture with Saudi Aramco as the U.S. chemicals giant battles a prolonged industry downturn compounded by the Iran war.
Dow could sell its reported 35% interest in the Saudi petrochemical complex, with Aramco potentially emerging as a buyer, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter. Strategic and financial investors could also be interested, although no final decision has been made.
The potential exit comes as the global chemicals industry struggles with weak demand, persistent overcapacity and elevated costs. The Middle East conflict has added another layer of pressure by disrupting petrochemical flows and supply chains and increasing transportation and operating expenses.
Sadara itself was temporarily shut earlier this year due to conflict-related supply disruptions.
Located in Jubail Industrial City, Sadara was developed as a $20-billion mega-project and was the world's largest integrated chemicals complex built in a single phase when completed. Its 26 manufacturing plants have the capacity to produce more than 3 million metric tons of performance plastics and high-value chemicals annually.

NEW DELHI: Mohammed Shami may be in the latter phase of his career, but the veteran pacer believes young Indian cricketers are arriving with a level of maturity that means they need less coaching and more timely guidance.

Shami, who has not played for India since March 2025 and last featured in a Test during the World Test Championship final against Australia at The Oval in 2023, spoke about mentoring youngsters after helping East Zone win the Duleep Trophy final against South Zone.

Among those who caught his attention was Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the teenage batter who was part of the East Zone squad.
"I thoroughly enjoyed it. The kid in our team (Vaibhav Sooryavanshi) is literally as old as my career. He has that youthful innocence, loves to joke around, and absorbs things quickly," Shami said.

The 36-year-old believes the exposure young players receive today, particularly through the IPL and other high-pressure competitions, has accelerated their development.

"But most of these youngsters are already quite mature. With the level of cricket they play today—featuring in the IPL and other high-pressure tournaments—maturity comes early, so you don't need to over-coach them," he said.

"But yes, when the game gets tight and challenging, that's when you step in with tactical inputs and remind them to keep fighting," he added.

Shami's own motivation, meanwhile, remains undiminished despite his prolonged absence from India colours.

"There are plenty of reasons to stay motivated if you look for them. At this level, if you aren't self-motivated, your approach is wrong. No matter what stage you're playing at, your eyes must always be set on the next level," he said.
Shami took two important wickets, dismissing Ravichandran Smaran and Sheikh Rasheed, as East Zone secured the Duleep Trophy ******* le on the basis of a first-innings lead. The triumph also coincided with his 100th first-class appearance.

"As far as satisfaction goes, achieving this in my 100th match—and that too in a winning Duleep Trophy final—is special. East Zone has won this after a very long time. You've seen how we performed.

"Every single boy put his heart and soul into this campaign to get us here. To achieve this in these conditions, in this heat, is outstanding. As for me, whether it's your first match or your 100th, it doesn't matter—the effort and the approach remain exactly the same," he said.

Shami also stressed that the level of cricket does not change his approach.

"When you wear that crest on your chest, the level of cricket doesn't matter. If you play for the badge, that hunger will naturally show. Your willingness to fight only grows when you play with that pride.

"My mindset is simple: whichever level I get an opportunity to play, I want to make it count and fulfil my responsibility toward the team," he said.

Investors love to check automakers' quarterly (or otherwise) delivery figures, especially when it comes to young electric vehicle (EV) makers that are surviving amid low volume and scale. Rivian's (NASDAQ: RIVN) R2 has been long-hyped, and on June 9, 2026, customers finally began receiving their prized ride. However, while Wall Street ****** ysts obsess over delivery charts and the smallest gains or losses, savvy investors know the R2 is about much more than increasing deliveries and revenue for the young EV maker. Here is one big development that's often forgotten.
One of Rivian's underappreciated strengths is its ability to bring in investment from larger companies that see value in Rivian's software technology or vehicles as a service. In this case, Rivian's mass-market R2 was a solid choice for Uber Technologies (NYSE: UBER) to add to its numerous investments for robotaxi joint ventures. Uber will invest up to $1.25 billion in Rivian through 2031, after it meets certain conditions and milestones, and the statement from Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi emphasizes Rivian's growing value with its vertical integration.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
"We're big believers in Rivian's approach -- designing the vehicle, compute platform, and software stack together, while maintaining end-to-end control of scaled manufacturing and supply in the U.S.," Khosrowshahi said in a press release.
Uber and Rivian expect to deploy 10,000 fully autonomous R2 robotaxis during their joint venture's first phase. San Francisco and Miami are circled in red to host the initial R2 robotaxi deployments in 2028, with the target of entering 25 additional cities by 2031. If all goes well for the joint venture, there's an option for the companies to negotiate the purchase of up to 40,000 additional R2 vehicles beginning in 2030.

Michael Carrick enjoyed Manchester United's perfect Champions League return against Sabah but is "pushing for more" with tougher tests around the corner.
Thursday night saw Old Trafford host a first match in European football's premier competition since December 2023 as the Red Devils faced a club that were only founded nine years ago.
United ran out comfortable 4-0 victors against Sabah, the champions of Azerbaijan, with Matheus Cunha, Bruno Fernandes and Benjamin Sesko scoring first-half goals.
Lisandro Martinez tapped home to complete a blemish-free start to the league phase for Carrick's men, who recorded their first clean sheet of the season having made a topsy-turvy start to the Premier League.
Asked if Thursday was the perfect way to kick off their long-awaited Champions League return, the United head coach said: "Yeah, I think so.

Roma open the Champions League campaign with a creditable 1-1 draw away to Fenerbahce, as Bryan Cristante's opener was cancelled out by Archie Brown.
The Giallorossi returned to the tournament after seven years and coming off three consecutive Serie A victories. Only Lorenzo Pellegrini was still out of action. Devyne Rensch was back, with Donyell Malen, Paulo Dybala and Matias Soulé.
Fenerbahce's last Champions League proper game was 18 years ago, but Matteo Guendouzi was suspended after insulting French fans during the fiery play-off with Lyon. Jayden Oosterwolde and Marco Asensio were injured, with ex-Serie A players Milan Skriniar, Romelu Lukaku and Mert Muldur in the squad, plus Mason Greenwood, who chose the Turkish side over Roma this summer.
See how it all unfolded on the Liveblog.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Michigan's football team has much bigger problems, including No. 11 Oklahoma, than a clock controversy.
The dramatic ending to the formerly 16th-ranked Wolverines' 13-12 win over Western Michigan — with a disputed second on the clock that gave Bryce Underwood another chance to complete a Hail Mary — has been one of the most talked about topics in sports for nearly a week.
"That was a crazy game," said Sooners linebacker Cole Sullivan, who transferred from Michigan after last season.
The conclusion and fallout from Michigan's last game has overshadowed, to some degree, how poorly it played in all three phases during coach Kyle Whittingham's debut with college football's winningest program.
"We got plenty to fix," Whittingham said.

How Sabah coach Valdas Dambrauskas went from Lithuanian game show to Champions League history originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
One of the most fascinating stories to come out of the early phases of this year's UEFA Champions League competition involves newly-formed Azerbaijani club Sabah FK and their mercurial coach.
Valdas Dambrauskas has led the young club to not only its first-ever top flight ***** le, but now their first-ever trip to the league phase of any European competition, let alone the Champions League.
Sabah became one of the final league phase qualifiers in the 2026/27 competition as they reversed a 2-1 aggregate deficit to Hapoel Be'er Sheva in the final qualifying round, winning the second leg 5-2 in a stunning comeback. Trailing 4-3 on aggregate heading into stoppage time of the second leg, Tellur Mutallimov scored in the 94th minute to send the match to extra-time, where they would win the game with a pair of goals in the added period.
That sent Sabah to the lucrative league phase, which has changed the trajectory of the club forever.

If you hold Pfizer (PFE) or Zoetis (ZTS), you hold the same idea: a branded medicine becomes a standard of care and keeps earning for years, in people or in animals. That is where it stops. Pfizer is buying replacements for older drugs losing exclusivity. Zoetis is cutting its effective price to keep the franchises it has. Same bet, two opposite defenses.
Pfizer lifted the midpoint of its 2026 revenue guidance by $500 million while cutting its COVID-19 revenue expectation to about $4 billion from about $5 billion. The rest of the company covered that gap: excluding COVID products, the underlying business grew 5% operationally in the second quarter of 2026, with Eliquis and Padcev among the drivers management named.
Zoetis cut its 2026 outlook and now expects revenue to decline 1% to 3% on an organic operational basis. Management said sales trends through July had not yet indicated market stabilization. Pfizer's raise rests on business it can already see. Zoetis has yet to see visibility on market stabilization.
Pfizer is buying growth and cutting cost, and expects about $9.7 billion in total net savings through 2029. What that funds is an aim, not a guide: a risk-adjusted high single-digit revenue CAGR from year-end 2028 through year-end 2033.
The pipeline behind that aim is expensive to get wrong. A Phase III lung cancer trial that missed its primary endpoint and, to a lesser extent, the removal of revenue projections for Oxbryta led to $4.3 billion of noncash intangible **** et impairments recorded in the second quarter of 2026. While an unadjusted price-to-EBIT comparison puts Pfizer at 23.9 against Zoetis at 9.2, aligning the two on operating income brings them to 9.7x and 9.0x, largely erasing the paying-up premium.

SWKS surged 9% and QRVO gained 6% as CEO Phil Brace confirmed China's SAMR review hit its final phase, targeting a year-end close.
SOXX dropped 2% on the same session, isolating the rally as merger-arb repricing, with AAPL the largest customer for both companies post-merger.

Shares of Skyworks Solutions (NASDAQ:SWKS) are up 10% to $84.24 in Thursday midday trade, while Qorvo (NASDAQ:QRVO) stock is climbing 6% to $111.49. The paired rally arrives on a session when the broader chip complex is red, which frames the move as merger-arb repricing driven by transaction odds.
The iShares Semiconductor ETF (NASDAQ:SOXX) is down 2%. Meanwhile, the Invesco QQQ Trust (NASDAQ:QQQ) is off 0.9%, so the divergence between the two RF names and the wider market isn't subtle.

Champions League | Anfield
8PM BST/3PM EST
Liverpool kick off the league phase of their 2026-27 Champions League campaign on Wednesday night under the lights at Anfield and while reality might always play out differently, on paper at least it seems likely to be the toughest test they will face before the knockout rounds—assuming, of course, that they make it that far.
It's also the first time new head coach Andoni Iraola will manage in the Champions League, having previously only managed AEK Larnaca in the Europa League in 2018-19, which required him to navigate six qualification matches before finishing third in their group behind Bayer Leverkusen and FC Zürich.
Wednesday, then, will be a much sterner test than he's faced before, at least in Europe. The Premier League though is no walk in the park, and Iraola has played and managed against Diego Simeone sides from his time as a player at Athletic Bilbao and then as a manager at Rayo Vallecano. One wouldn't expect, then, for anything he does see on Wednesday night to be truly unexpected or beyond his ability to prepare for.
Predicted Liverpool Lineup (4-2-3-1)
