Amid all the chatter about brand deals and follower counts, the charitable side of creators is often overlooked. This past week, two major creators — MrBeast (510 million YouTube subscribers) and Jacksepticeye (31 million subscribers) — doubled down on giving back.
Though MrBeast and Jacksepticeye are the two creators making headlines right now, philanthropic efforts are baked into the work of many creators, partially because giveaways and community alignment are so core to the creator ecosystem. That focus has translated into an increase in donations from Millennial and Gen Z audiences as donations overall have declined.
MrBeast partnered with Disney and Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) on "I Granted 100 Kids Their Biggest Wish!" a video that chronicled celebrities like MrBeast, Dwayne Johnson and LeBron James granting some of the biggest dreams to children who have been diagnosed with cancer. The goal of the video is to increase awareness for pediatric cancer and raise funds for research, which naturally includes an elaborate MrBeast giveaway for anyone who donates to the charity Give Kids The World. Since being posted on Sunday, the video has accumulated over 30 million views. Those views will only increase as the video remains on MrBeast's channel for the next six months.
"We've never had an opportunity like this to engage people all over the world, and certainly not through a creator platform at this scale. So, it's truly a 'first' for SU2C," Pam Williams, a member of the SU2C founders and advisors committee, told me. So far it's a strategy that's working. The video has been seen by people in 68 countries so far, and almost 90% of donators are supporting the organization for the first time.

Clea Newman remembers her first time volunteering with SeriousFun, the globe-spanning, free camp network for ill children.
It was just the one camp back then — in Connecticut — set up by celebrated actor, activist and American icon Paul Newman in 1988. "My dad said, 'Why don't you go up and volunteer as a counselor?'" she recalls to The Hollywood Reporter. "I never really babysat much. I was a little nervous about it. And he said, 'Just try it.'" Derek Hough's wife, Hayley Erbert, is feeling love from fans after announcing a devastating family loss.
In a Tuesday, July 28, Instagram post, the former Dancing With the Stars troupe member revealed that her stepfather, Jim, had passed away several days prior. "It has been a week since Jim left us earth side, a week since his beautiful soul was set free," Erbert wrote. "He was the best bonus dad there was, even though 'bonus' will never be a big enough word. He showed me that being a dad isn't about biology. It's about showing up. It's about consistency, patience, protection, and love."
Erbert said she was "so lucky" to have her stepfather in her life, describing him as "one of those rare people who made the world feel gentler just by being in it." She added, "Selfless in every sense, his kindness showed in everything he did, his calm made everyone feel safe, and his quiet humor was there for anyone paying close enough attention. To know him was to love him."

Golf architect Kyle Phillips has broken ground on the course at the private Pandion Club in Estero, Florida. The new layout, intended to invoke the heathland courses of England with Lowcountry influences, is being built on the site of the former Old Corkscrew Golf Club that was closed earlier this year.
Phillips plans a par-71 course for Pandion Club, stretching to 7,220 with firm and fast playing conditions and a premium on strategic shotmaking. The new layout is scheduled to open in 2027 with membership capped at 280. The golf-only club will include a Lowcountry-inspired clubhouse and expansive practice facilities. The name Pandion is inspired by Pandion haliaetus, aka osprey.
The layout features sandy terrain that should promote Phillips' goals. Having built the top-ranked Kingsbarns Golf Links and Dundonald Links in Scotland and having studied courses around the world, Phillips said that heathland courses are situated on inland dunes, "like the ones we have in Florida."
Old Corkscrew and additional surrounding land was purchased in 2022 by The Hoffmann Family of Companies for $14.5 million, according to property records reported by the Naples Daily News. The Hoffmans purchased the Cottages at Old Corkscrew Golf Club for $4.5 million in a separate transaction. The Hoffmanns also own Old Collier Golf Club in Naples, as well as the Pittsburgh Penguins and Florida Everblades.
"Everything we do at Hoffmann Family of Companies, we want to provide a unique, best-in-class experience for our guests, and Pandion is going to be no exception" Geoff Hoffmann, CEO of HF Companies' private equity arm, said in a media release announcing the start of construction. "From the moment that you drive through our gates, you will know that you have arrived somewhere special. You are going to feel like you are in nature, and this is an escape. We knew that his experience presented an opportunity to preserve the natural landscape that was embedded on the site, and that's something we are going to build around."

Florida volleyball players Jordyn Byrd and Alec Rothe were named to the Preseason All-SEC team, while the team was voted to finish fourth in the conference, the SEC announced in its 2026 Preseason Coaches' Poll.
Byrd was a member of the 2025 All-SEC Second Team and was a member of the 2025 American Volleyball Coaches ***** ociation Southeast Region First Team. The Sarasota, Florida, native appeared in all 28 matches for the Gators, leading the way on offense in 23 of them, recording double-figure kills and pouring in a total of 425 kills and 457.5 points, which led the team last season. In total, Byrd was responsible for 30% of the Gator production on offense during her redshirt sophomore campaign.
Joining Byrd on the Preseason All-SEC team was Rothe, who was also a member of the 2025 AVCA Region First Team during her sophomore season. Last season, the Dublin, Ohio, native was one of the best defenders in the conference, leading the Gators with 111.0 blocks, also recording five or more blocks 10 times. She also averaged 2.48 points per set, 1.91 kills per set, 1.03 blocks per set and 0.39 digs per set.
Rothe is one of only two middle blockers to make the Preseason All-SEC list.

FIFA sparked controversy on Tuesday by announcing its intention to open the door to private investment in its commercial division, particularly in relation to broadcasting and advertising around the World Cup. UEFA had already opposed the move, but on Wednesday it renewed its attack.
"Today we have learned of FIFA's deadline to ******* ociations to support their proposals or have the one-off payout offer withdrawn. This says everything you need to know about this plan," a statement from the governing body read today.
"But having held discussions with many stakeholders across the game, UEFA knows there is significant and growing opposition to FIFA's scheme. FIFA cannot continue to use our sport to enrich themselves and their friends. We can grow the game correctly. It's time to prioritise ******* ociations, clubs, leagues, players and fans."

In an official statement sent to newsrooms, FIFA explained that it intends to "increase funding for football development to more than $10 billion (US dollars), subject to approval by FIFA's Member ******* ociations (MAs)."

The Chicago Bears hit the practice field at Halas Hall on Wednesday morning for the first practice of training camp under second-year head coach Ben Johnson.
It was a closed practice, but the media have started to share observations. It was a light practice that lasted less than an hour and a half to kick things off as they ramp up before the pads come on later in camp. After last year's rough start for the offense, it sounds like they're much more organized to kick camp off, and it was the defense that had some hiccups.
As far as attendance goes, it doesn't sound like there were any notable absences, outside of previously reported players on the NFI and PUP lists, including defensive end Montez Sweat, linebacker T.J. Edwards and cornerback Kyler Gordon.

Left back Nathaniel Brown has said he wants to continu8e to impress and Bayern Munich like at previous club Eintracht Frankfurt and in the German national team.
"I want to show what I can do. I know what I can do and what I can't," Brown said at his presentation on Wednesday at Bayern's pre-season training camp in the Bavarian town of Rottach-Egern.
"The coach has already shown me what I do well. I've spoken with him a lot. I want to play as many games as possible, help the team, and ultimately win ***** les."
Brown will compete with Alphonso Davies for the left back position. The Canada captain has been plagued by injuries, but Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl said they are not really considering selling him.

Whenever anyone asked me what my dream job is, I always had the same answer: I want to create content that resonates with people. The New York Yankees fandom was first introduced to me by my grandfather, who grew up in the Bronx after immigrating from Germany. Whenever my sister and I visited my grandparents' house, my grandmother would always show off her vast collection of glass animals and trinkets from her travels around the world while my grandfather sat in the same spot on his couch, always with a pipe in hand, and watched his Bronx Bombers perform their magic. As I watched him pay close attention to every pitch and carefully ****** yze every swing, I realized that it wasn't just a sport he was watching. It was a beautiful human expression of finesse, endurance, and patience.
I was quickly enthralled with the art of baseball, despite the games typically lasting over three hours. Whenever my parents took me to a game at one of the most iconic stadiums in the country, I was always asking questions and cheering for Brett Gardner, Nick Swisher, or dancing to Derek Jeter's 2009 walk-up song (Empire State of Mind, for those who don't remember). After watching the Bombers win two World Series during my childhood, I knew I was locked in for life.
I continued to pursue an interest in sports throughout my education, and majored in journalism and mass communication at the University of Wisconsin. During my time as a Badger, I also earned a certificate in sports communication, which was an incredible opportunity to immerse myself in sports media. Instead of relaxing under the sun, my summers were spent writing articles as an intern at the New York Post sports department under fluorescent lights, or at the Yankees clubhouse until 1 a.m.
Since graduation, pursuing my passion for sports media has taken me to many amazing new places. Learning more about the nuances of baseball, however, has been the most rewarding. It has allowed me to develop professionally and form new connections, colleagues, and friends that I'm sure will last a lifetime.

The vice-president of the German FA (DFB) on Wednesday slammed FIFA's controversial plans to sell stakes in its competitions, including the World Cup, as "an outright attack on football".
FIFA announced Tuesday it was set to create a semi-private subsidiary which would sell part of its business operations in the World Cup and other competitions, hoping to raise $4.2 billion.
The plan would still have to be approved by the 38-member FIFA council and the majority of its 211 member **** ociations. FIFA said it intends to present the plans to the council soon.
Hans-Joachim Watzke, the DFB vice-president who is also president of Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund and a vice-president of UEFA's executive committee, joined the chorus critical of the proposal.
"Many in European football see FIFA's plans as an outright attack on football. I share this view. A line has been crossed here," Watzke told Germany's Kicker.

The European Union has joined the Union of European Football ***** ociations (UEFA) in criticising FIFA's controversial plan to launch a new commercial company with external investment to sell a stake in the World Cup.
"The relentless commercialisation of football has become corrosive," EU Commissioner for Sport Glenn Micallef wrote on X on Wednesday. He added that a possible alignment of FIFA's regulatory powers with the financial interests of private entities is a concern for the European Commission.
FIFA announced on Tuesday it plans to create a $20 billion (around €17.6 billion) subsidiary to run the World Cup and other events, offering stakes of up to 20% to external investors. This would give FIFA members the chance "to access up to $20 million in one-off capital," according to the statement on the plan.
The move provoked a furious response from UEFA, which accused the football governing body of putting the game's "soul" up for sale.
"The European Commission will study these proposals carefully," Micallef said in response to the announcement, flagging that under EU treaties sporting rules are subject to EU law where they may have an impact on the European economy.

Any crackdown on mobile communications would add a new dimension to the conflict for the thousands of ‌U.S. troops in the region, many of whom still rely on phones to periodically message loved ones and **** ure them they are well.
Admiral Brad Cooper, in a previously unreported letter, said ‌Iran was benefiting from being able to see the success or failure of its strikes in near real-time by searching news reports or online posts by journalists referencing "reactions, photos, and footage from the cellphones of our troops."
"The direct, unavoidable cost of this open-source intelligence could be measured in the lives of American service members and civilian residents in targeted Gulf countries," Cooper, head of U.S. Central Command, wrote in his July 28 letter, a copy of which was obtained by Reuters.

LYTHAM ST. ANNES, England — Their journeys to professional golf couldn't have been more contrasting. Lydia Ko was a child prodigy; Ryan Fox was a late bloomer who didn't turn pro until age 25. Ko rose to fame when, at 14, she became the youngest winner of a tour event and, at 18, became the youngest major winner. Fox was 39 when he won his first major at the British Open two weeks ago.
But they are united by their homeland of New Zealand and by shared experiences in team rooms. Those moments began with pranks at the 2010 World Amateur Teams Championships. These days, the New Zealand bonding sessions play out on a far bigger stage—at the past three Olympic games.
"We went to World Team Ams when I was 14," Ko recalled on Wednesday at the AIG Women's British Open at Royal Lytham. "I don't know if I'm allowed to say it, but he may or may not have tricked me to think my ***** e glass was—I thought it was my ***** e glass—but it was red wine. He's always been the same."

Gianni Infantino has told the heads of Fifa's 211 member **** ociations that they could miss out on a $30m payment if they do not back his plan to sell stakes in the World Cup, and has given them just 53 days to decide.
On Tuesday, Fifa revealed plans to create a new subsidiary to manage the commercial rights and delivery of the World Cup and other major tournaments, with Infantino confirming that the new company - 'Fifa Forward Enterprises (FFE)' - would be open to external capital investment.
Infantino's plans have been heavily criticised by Uefa, who accused Fifa of looking to sell the game's "soul", while The Independent understands the threat of a boycott is being discussed by senior European figures. The proposals, though, only require a majority vote, of above 50 per cent, from the 211 Fifa members as well as backing from the Fifa Council.

The MV Barima, an 87-year-old ship, sank on July 18 while traveling from the capital, Georgetown, to the northwestern village of Port Kaituma.
Captain Kevin Price, 40, and crew members Rondell Dwayne Roberts, 42, and Delon Granderson, ‌33, appeared before a ⁠Georgetown court on murder charges, police said.
They were not required to enter pleas, and Reuters could not immediately ⁠contact the defendants or their representatives for comment.

The Indiana Fever defeated the Seattle Storm 105-95 on Tuesday night in the first night of regular-season action for the WNBA after the All-Star break. However, instead of the Fever's three-game winning streak entering the game, a lot of the coverage surrounding the Fever was on comments reserve guard Sophie Cunningham made regarding transgender athletes.
"I got a lot of negative feedback about me hating trans. And I'm like, 'I never once said that,'" Cunningham said via a profile on her published by ESPN. "I think that I am here to extend love. But I also think with that love is truth, being honest. And I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn't have to go against biological men."
Cunningham's words became a hot-topic issue, with people weighing in from all over the media, intense debates being had online, and even rallies being planned.
After the game, WNBA reporter Roberta Rodrigues, who rebuked Cunningham's comments and the rally tied to them on social media, asked head coach Stephanie White, who is married to journalist Lisa Salters, about the situation.
"Coach, there was a rally before the game, an anti-trans rally before the game, inspired by Sophie Cunningham," Rodrigues started.
