The deal lands a day after an August 3 ****** ysis flagged a fiscal 2027 earnings guide that came in below expectations, weighed down by roughly $1 billion in new cost headwinds. Investors now have two stories to weigh at once: fresh expansion and a tougher near-term cost picture.
The Thorne acquisition gives Procter & Gamble entry into a category built on clinical credibility rather than shelf ****** e. Thorne has spent 40 years building relationships with healthcare practitioners, and L Catterton's announcement noted the company developed a proprietary AI wellness advisor to help consumers navigate its supplement lineup, a tool practitioners can point their patients to directly.
The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, an all-cash deal with no debt or equity swapped into the mix. Procter & Gamble isn't skimping on shareholders while it shops, either. The company returned $10.2 billion in dividends and $5.0 billion in share repurchases during fiscal 2026, and it plans roughly the same combination, about $10 billion in dividends and $5 billion in buybacks, for fiscal 2027. There's a case buried inside the company's own guidance, too. Strip out the roughly $1 billion in commodity, energy, and transportation costs management expects to absorb next year, and core EPS would be growing at about 10% instead of the 0% to 3% baked into the outlook.
The numbers behind the fiscal 2027 outlook explain the caution. Management guided core EPS to $6.89 to $7.11, implying growth of just 0% to 3%, and pointed to roughly $1 billion in after-tax commodity, energy, and transportation costs as the main culprit. Add higher net interest expense, lower non-operating income, and unfavorable currency, and the total drag reaches $0.56 per share, wiping out about 8 percentage points of core earnings growth before the year even starts.
The trend already shows up in recent results. In the fiscal fourth quarter, net sales rose 2% year-over-year to $21.2 billion while organic sales were flat, and core EPS fell 3% to $1.43. For the full fiscal year, net sales grew 3% to $87.0 billion, but organic sales rose only 1%, and every bit of that growth came from higher prices rather than more units sold. Volume and mix didn't move. Shares trade near $144, about 5% above their 52-week low of $137.62, or roughly 21 times fiscal 2026 core earnings of $6.89. That's not an expensive multiple, but it isn't cheap for a business guiding to low-single-digit growth.

Alessandro de Tullio went flag-to-flag from pole to claim a dominant Indy NXT victory at Portland International Raceway.
The Argentine led all 35 laps in the No. 14 AJ Foyt Racing entry to win by 2.169 seconds around the 12-turn, 1.964-mile natural road course. It marked de Tullio's second win of the season.
"Yeah, it wasn't easy," de Tullio said. "I had to take care of the tires; there was quite a bit of deg there towards the end. I went for the fastest lap at the end, but I didn't get it by almost nothing. But yeah, it was a good race, the start was a bit gnarly with Lochie (Hughes). He really charged into Turn 1, but we were able to hold that off. We were able to get a good restart after the safety car. The car was great. I can't thank the whole team enough."

On August 4, Nvidia Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) opened up commercial use of Alpamayo 2 Super, a reasoning model built for robotaxis and self-driving cars. The move signals where the company wants its next growth chapter to come from, even as investors argue over what its core chip business is worth today.
Alpamayo 2 Super is the newest entry in what Nvidia calls the most downloaded family of open reasoning models for autonomous driving on Hugging Face, with the lineup topping 500,000 downloads. It ships under OpenMDW 1.1, the Linux Foundation's open license, which lets automakers and suppliers fine-tune and sell products built on it without asking Nvidia for extra permission. That turns a research release into a business: developers can build proprietary self-driving stacks on Nvidia's foundation without paying frontier-model prices for every task. On the LingoQA driving benchmark, Nvidia says the model beat Gemini 2.5 Pro by 15.1 points and GPT-4o by 23.2 points, and it can output a full driving trajectory alongside a plain-language explanation of its reasoning, a feature built for safety reviewers as much as for a leaderboard.
That expansion sits on top of a business already growing faster than its size would suggest. Trailing 12-month revenue climbed 71% to $253 billion, and the pace has been accelerating rather than cooling, moving from 56% growth a year ago to 85% in the most recent quarter. Data center revenue, the business autonomous-vehicle compute rides on, rose 92% year over year to $75.2 billion, and Nvidia raised its quarterly dividend from a penny to $0.25 a share while authorizing an $80 billion buyback. Demand from its biggest customers backs that up: Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL) raised its 2026 capital spending guidance toward $195 billion to $205 billion, Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) lifted its own estimate toward $220 billion, and ******* eX (NASDAQ:SPCX) CEO Elon Musk said his company is "exclusive to Nvidia" for its next computing architecture.
The market's response to all that growth has cooled. Nvidia's stock has fallen or barely moved after each of its last several earnings reports, even on beats, and it reports fiscal second-quarter results again on August 26. Some of the caution is arithmetic. Nvidia's market capitalization has reached roughly $5 trillion, about a sixth of annual US economic output, a size that makes the kind of percentage gains that built early fortunes in the stock difficult to repeat.

A Coventry City fan who moved more than 100 miles away from his beloved team ended up in Dorset living on Highfield Road before relocating to Coventry Close.
"I can't get rid of the Coventry connection," said Sky Blues-mad John Lovegrove.
Highfield Road was the name of City's original home ground, and his address there on the south coast had been pure coincidence, he said. But he addmitted to being more conscious of what he was doing when choosing his Coventry Close abode.
The supporter has lived in Dorset since 1998, making a round trip of more than 300 miles for every Sky Blues home game.
"There's actually a lot of Coventry fans down here, mainly in Bournemouth," the 76-year-old said. "But as far as I'm aware, I'm the only Sky Blues fan on Coventry Close."

Space Exploration Technologies (NASDAQ: SPCX) reported its first financial update as a publicly traded company (for the second quarter) on Aug. 4 amid high expectations. The company's shares rose before it released its earnings report. Unfortunately, the **** e company's results disappointed the market, sending the stock sharply lower and extending the losses from recent weeks. **** eX stock is down 20% from its IPO price and 52% from its all-time high. However, even at current levels, the company's shares aren't attractive, in my view. Here are three reasons why I am not buying the dip yet.

SpaceX's second-quarter results weren't bad. The company's revenue soared 92% year over year to $7.8 billion, while it cut its net loss nearly in half, landing at $541 million for the period, versus the $1 billion reported in the prior-year quarter. However, there are some worrying signs. Notably, **** eX is spending a small fortune to capitalize on what it perceives as a massive opportunity in artificial intelligence (AI). During the second quarter, **** eX's capex within its AI business was $15.8 billion, more than doubling quarter over quarter. It was also more than six times the capex in its two other operating segments combined.
Management says it will continue to spend heavily on AI over the next few quarters. That's a problem for the company's near-term performance. The market is punishing other corporations that are also spending heavily on AI, even when they generate significantly more revenue and earnings than **** eX and also boast attractive opportunities in this market. Perhaps the spending is justified and will eventually transform **** eX's business. But it's unlikely that we will see a significant return on investment from **** eX's AI-related spending over the next year, which leads me to believe that the stock may fall further and offer investors who believe in its vision an even more attractive entry point.
SpaceX is acquiring Cursor, an AI start-up, for $60 billion. One noteworthy aspect of this deal is that it is an all-stock transaction. Translation: **** eX is diluting existing shareholders by issuing new shares to fund this acquisition. It may be worth it in the long run if Cursor can improve **** eX's AI business, but this transaction may put downward pressure on the stock over the next year or so, especially if many of these new shareholders decide to cash out.

Jeff's Bagel Run, the fast-growing bagel brand known for making its bagels from scratch in every shop throughout the day, has awarded a 10-unit franchise agreement covering Eastern and South Central Pennsylvania.
The agreement marks Jeff's Bagel Run's entry into Pennsylvania and establishes a development corridor extending from the Harrisburg area east through Reading and the Lehigh Valley to suburban Philadelphia. Site selection is now underway, with the franchise group actively evaluating real estate opportunities and leadership resources across the territory.
"Pennsylvania knows its bagels, so we know we'll have to earn our place here," said Jeff Perera, co-founder of Jeff's Bagel Run. "Plenty of bagel brands are growing. We may be the only one doing it the hard way—starting with flour and mixing, boiling and baking every bagel in every shop throughout the day. There are certainly easier ways to scale, but we haven't found one that makes a better bagel. Now we're looking for multiple sites and neighborhoods to bring that experience to Pennsylvania."
The expansion will be led by experienced multi-unit franchisees Jay and Amy DeLuca, along with operating partners Eric Clark and Nadia Hankin who reside in Harrisburg. The group brings extensive experience in site selection, new-store development, building strong teams, marketing and community involvement.

Paul Bissonnette has said that the San Jose Sharks secured more than a franchise player when they signed Macklin Celebrini to a record-setting extension. Speaking on the Spittin' Chiclets podcast, the former NHL forward compared the 20-year-old center to one of hockey's greatest players after his historic new deal.
Celebrini signed a five-year, $94 million extension on July 29, carrying an NHL-record $18.8 million average annual value. The contract begins in 2027-28 after the final season of his entry-level deal. It surpassed Leo Carlsson's $18 million AAV and Connor Bedard's $15 million extension signed earlier this summer.

AbbVie (ABBV) has guided total 2026 revenue to roughly $67.6 billion. About $21.7 billion of that, close to one-third, is expected to come from a single medicine, SKYRIZI. That share is the number a holder should sit with before anything else in this story.
The quarterly picture has the same shape. SKYRIZI sold $5.5 billion in the second quarter of 2026, up 24% operationally, against total net revenues of nearly $17 billion, and the next largest product AbbVie broke out, RINVOQ, sold more than $2.5 billion. Immunology as a whole brought in nearly $8.8 billion, more than half the company, on 14.6% operational growth. What makes that concentration matter is what sits beside it: oncology revenue of more than $1.6 billion fell 2.4% operationally in the same three months, and aesthetics, at nearly $1.3 billion, slipped 0.9%. Neuroscience did grow, at more than $3.2 billion and roughly 20%. So the growth you are paying for sits in immunology and neuroscience, and inside the bigger of the two it leans mostly on one molecule.
AbbVie does not have to imagine what biosimilar entry does to a large immunology franchise, because it is happening on its own income statement right now. HUMIRA sold $756 million in the second quarter of 2026, down 36% operationally, which the company puts down to biosimilar competition. A franchise shedding better than a third of its sales year over year is the shape of the risk, not its timing, because the two products sit on very different clocks.
SKYRIZI's clock is public and much further out. The company says the US composition-of-matter patent expires in 2033, that later-expiring patents embodying the product are granted or in process and run into the mid twenty-thirties and later, that regulatory data protection does not lapse until 2031, and that it does not expect biosimilar applications before the end of the decade. That is a long runway by any standard. It is also why the question keeps coming back, because close to a third of today's guided revenue eventually sits behind that later intellectual property rather than behind the original patent.

Jack Draper was in tears during his comeback match at the Canadian Open en route to losing to Terence Atmane.
The Briton was playing his first match since pulling out of Wimbledon with a recurrence of a bruised bone in his left arm but was beaten 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 in Montreal.
The 24-year-old was visibly upset during one changeover in the third set. His serve speed had significantly dropped and he appeared to be feeling the left arm.
He has a wild card entry to the Cincinnati Open beginning next week but there are likely to be doubts about his involvement following this defeat, as well as about his involvement in the US Open.
Draper pulled out of the DC Open in Washington last week as well as missing Wimbledon.

MASON, Ohio (AP) — The Williams sisters are back on track to playing doubles tennis ahead of the U.S. Open.
Serena and Venus Williams are set to take part in the Cincinnati Open, which begins next week. Organizers announced Monday they had received a wild-card entry into the doubles field.
They last played a doubles match together at the 2022 U.S. Open. It is their first time teaming up in the hard-court tune-up tournament in Mason, Ohio.
The Williams sisters received a wild-card entry to play doubles at Wimbledon, but an injury to Serena prevented that from happening. They have won 14 major **** les and three Olympic gold medals in doubles play.
Venus Williams, 46, is set to play mixed doubles at the U.S. Open later this month in New York alongside Alexander Bublik. She and her younger sister playing at Cincinnati is the latest step in Serena's comeback at age 44 after losing at Wimbledon in her first singles match in nearly four years.

Coventry City have signed 25-year-old goalkeeper Carl Rushworth from Brighton & Hove Albion following his successful loan at the CBS Arena.
The deal is reportedly worth a club record £22m but neither club has made the fee public, nor has the length of his "long-term contract" been revealed.
Rushworth played in all 46 of Coventry's league games last season, keeping 17 clean sheets as they won the Championship to end their 25-year wait to return to the Premier League.
"I'm really happy, there's so many emotions that I've got," said Rushworth.
"There's excitement, I can finally relax knowing it's done and that I'm back with the boys and at a club I loved being at."

With no background in coding, Faith Maeba, a psychology major, was reluctant when her mother first suggested she enroll in classes on artificial intelligence.
