Carolla said it "evidently works" when it comes to winning over voters, so Republicans should give it a shot.

Tech stocks fell on Monday, as AI industry leaders raised concerns about the future of the technology and its potential to harm humans. The Nasdaq fell roughly 0.8% in early trading. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index fell more than 4%.
The episode began last week when an Anthropic researcher announced he was leaving the company via a post on X, saying he didn't feel it was doing enough to keep AI in check.
Anthropic Alignment Science Lead, Evan Hubinger, responded the post saying the former Anthropic worker is correct and that he believes there is a greater-than-10 % chance that the technology could "kill all humans."
On Saturday, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei posted an essay responding to the posts, calling on AI companies to slow the pace of frontier AI development. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman agreed.
And on Monday, Reuters reported that Microsoft is developing its own code of conduct for its AI models.

When I wrote How to Make Money in Any Market… I didn't know that Enterprise Products Partners was going to be the, maybe the single biggest pipeline winner in this country thanks to the war. I didn't see that war coming. The CEO of Enterprise, Jim Teague, has raised awareness for the company's profit opportunity because of the Hormuz closing. The margins of some of its liquids, like ethane to ethylene, ethylene to polyethylene, have soared. As Teague says, the Houston Ship Channel is now just as important as the Strait of Hormuz. The White Sox beat the Cleveland Blues, 12-4, in Chicago to clinch the franchise's first pennant. (The American League would not be recognized as an official major league until 1901, however.) Roy Patterson got the win in the game.
The season seemed to set the tone for the franchise, with exceptional pitching and defense — and just enough hitting to win games. Cleveland manager Jimmy McAleer said as much after the Sox clinched against his club: "It's the strangest thing that ever happened. A club with no good batsman to win a flag! Why, such a thing was never heard of before. [Dick] Padden has done most of it. He has been the whole works, and has shown himself a born general. The pitchers did the rest, with special credit to that lad Patterson."
Brett Ballantini devoted an episode of South Side Sox's Flashback to this win, back in 2019.

Ultimately, the White Sox did not prevail for the pennant, but don't say they didn't put up a fight. Arriving at Detroit's Bennett Park for a five-game set against the first-place Tigers and behind by three games, the White Sox won the opener, then played four consecutive extra-inning games to finish out the series, splitting them. On this day, the White Sox got back to just two games out with a 2-1 victory in 10 innings. Frank Smith not only went the distance for his 12th win on the season, he singled in the game-winner in the top of the 10th.
The White Sox continued a three-way fight for the pennant (with Cleveland as well), and the season came down to the last day, hosting Detroit. Had the White Sox not been blown out in the finale, they would have finished tied with (but percentage points ahead of) Cleveland and a half-game in front of the Tigers for the pennant.

A week after Nick Saban and Pat McAfee practically did an infomercial for the Protect College Sports Act during College GameDay, one of the bill's co-sponsors, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), was given the chance to make a full-throated defense of the bill and why it needed to be passed by the Senate and House, with Cruz previously saying that if passed, President Donald Trump would sign it into law on a future episode of ESPN's flagship college football show.
Even by the standards of College GameDay, which has been known to put its thumb on the scale when it wanted, this whole affair has been wildly inappropriate. It's one thing for Kirk Herbstreit to chastise football players for opting out of meaningless bowl games; it's another thing for the show to put its full weight behind a Congressional bill without providing ample time to those proponents and opponents, especially when those who oppose the bill do so on the grounds that it will negatively impact the earning ability of the athletes who make the sport work.
However, it helps you understand this all-out blitz when you realize where ESPN's parent company is putting its money.
Joedy McCreary at OpenSecrets recently laid out the fight surrounding the PCSA, spelling out which entities are pushing for it and which are pushing back.
Per McCreary, several major broadcasting and cable companies are putting their money where their mouth is. The National ****** ociation of Broadcasters (NAB) and NCTA – the Internet and Television ****** ociation lobbied for the legislation. Henry Winkler is "still working on his perspective" about his relationship with Tom Hanks.
Winkler, 80, gained notoriety for playing Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli on Happy Days, and first crossed paths with Hanks when the now-70-year-old actor landed a guest star role in a 1982 episode of the sitcom.
Hanks went on to star in movies and the pair briefly reunited in 1989 when Winkler signed on to direct Turner & Hooch, only to leave the project soon after due to on-set disagreements.

A pastor kicked off a recent campaign stop for Michael Whatley, the Republican nominee for Senate, with a prayer that asked God to bestow "integrity and honesty" upon the event and to right wrongs "hammered down on the conservative movement."
The prayer was hardly unusual by North Carolina political standards. What was surprising was the man who delivered it. Pastor Daimon L. King is a registered ***** offender, twice sentenced to prison for convictions involving children, according to state and court records.
The episode occurred with two months to go in a marquee Senate race that could help decide which party controls the chamber after the November elections. It risks undermining one of Whatley's central campaign arguments — that his Democratic opponent, former Gov. Roy Cooper, is soft on crime. And it could feed into an advertising blitz by Democrats that has targeted the Republican candidate's ***** ociation with another convicted ***** offender, a former GOP official.
King did not respond to messages seeking comment.
Whatley's campaign declined to make him available for an interview. In a statement, campaign spokesman DJ Griffin said Whatley did not know King and the event "was NOT planned nor organized by the Whatley campaign nor did the campaign invite any of the guests."

She added, "Sin is so dark and so heavy and it's hard to find true joy…happiness is circumstantial. I think my kids help me have a little bit of happiness here and there in the dark moments. But it is really hard to find joy in those hard, hard moments."

For months, rumors about influencer Charli D'Amelio's relationship with her family have been circulating online, and a recent appearance on Quenlin Blackwell's "Feeding Starving Celebrities" video series seems to have added more fuel to that fire.
In the video uploaded on Sept. 5, D'Amelio, the second-most followed TikToker with close to 160 million followers, starts the episode by surprising Blackwell with a pair of sweatpants from her merch store. As they're talking about her many business ventures, Blackwell then asks her how much money she made from her merch. "Mmm, ain't that the question," D'Amelio responds as she looks into the camera and laughs as she adds, "Wouldn't I like to know."
This comes three months after People confirmed that she is no longer involved in the family's popcorn brand, Be Happy Snacks, and the publication reported that the severed ties are allegedly a result of a financial dispute between her and her parents, Marc and Heidi D'Amelio. A representative for the brand told TMZ that her decision to bow out of the family business was "a formal amicable separation from D'Amelio Brands and D'Amelio Family LLC that everyone agreed to at the time."
TMZ also reported that the separation began in March 2025 and was made official in November 2025, meaning she was out of the company for more than six months before the news broke.

The Los Angeles Rams got stomped 27-7 by the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1 down in Australia. It was an ugly performance from the entire team, but especially from Matthew Stafford. On Friday, ESPN's Dan Orlovsky ripped into the 38-year-old quarterback for his poor play in L.A.'s season opener.
During the latest episode of "Get Up," the former quarterback turned ******* yst called the Rams' loss one of the worst performances he's ever seen from Stafford and the team. There wasn't much Orlovsky was positive about, as he eviscerated nearly every portion of the roster in his rant.
"Rams, total dud," Orlovsky said. "Sluggish. We're not paid to talk about jet lag and travel plans. I have no idea. But I do know this. Matthew Stafford, coming off of the MVP season, one of the worst games that I've seen him in years. A statue in the pocket, terrible decision-making, forcing the football, refusing to move, could not find any rhythm. And this is an offense that should have been completely in sync, given what they've brought back off of last year. And the only part of their offense that played well was the interior offensive line…
