Lithium Americas Corp. (LAC) is back on Wall Street's radar after JPMorgan turned bullish on the lithium developer, upgrading the stock to an "Overweight" rating from "Neutral" and setting a $6 price target. The target implies close to 100% upside from the stock's previous close, giving investors a potentially significant re-rating opportunity if the bank's bullish **** umptions play out.
The call reflects a more constructive outlook for lithium prices. JPMorgan recently raised its lithium price **** umptions, arguing that lithium carbonate prices have remained above $20 per kilogram and that the market could face a supply deficit through the end of the decade. Those higher price **** umptions materially improve JPMorgan's estimates for Lithium Americas' long-term earnings and net **** et value.

Jim Cramer sees Enterprise Products Partners L.P. (NYSE:EPD) as a major beneficiary of the disruption surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, as he said during the September 8 episode of Mad Money:
When I wrote How to Make Money in Any Market… I didn't know that Enterprise Products Partners was going to be the, maybe the single biggest pipeline winner in this country thanks to the war. I didn't see that war coming. The CEO of Enterprise, Jim Teague, has raised awareness for the company's profit opportunity because of the Hormuz closing. The margins of some of its liquids, like ethane to ethylene, ethylene to polyethylene, have soared. As Teague says, the Houston Ship Channel is now just as important as the Strait of Hormuz. Now, there's an endorsement. Stock yields 5.8%.
Enterprise Products Partners L.P. (NYSE:EPD) reported record second-quarter adjusted EBITDA of $2.8 billion, up 17% year over year, while operational distributable cash flow reached a record $2.3 billion, up 21%. Moreover, pipeline volumes reached a record 14.7 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, up 8%, while marine-terminal volumes increased 33% to 2.8 million barrels per day. Co-Chief Executive Officer James Teague said:
Volumes at our marine terminals have returned to normal levels in June and July after the initial rush to backfill volumes affected by hostilities in the Middle East in April and May.
In July, Enterprise Products Partners L.P. (NYSE:EPD) declared a quarterly distribution of $0.56 per unit, or $2.24 annualized, a 2.8% increase from a year earlier. At EPD's September 8 closing price of $38.83, that equates to a yield of approximately 5.8%. The company has increased its distribution for 27 consecutive years. The company's latest investor materials show $6.5 billion of major capital projects under construction. It expects 2026 organic growth capital spending, net of ***** et-sale proceeds, of $2.9 billion to $3.4 billion. The company retained $1.1 billion of DCF for internally funded growth capital expenditures and buybacks.

For a more immediate look at what's happening with price fluctuations right now, you don't need to look any further than current oil prices (BZ=F). Attacks on ships this week from both the U.S. and Iran have sent crude future prices back above $100 a barrel. As of 6:30 a.m. ET, crude futures were $101.97 a barrel.
Higher interest rates are expected to put. lid on gold price growth in the near term, but long-term, many investors still see the precious metal as a valuable diversifier.

Nvidia (NVDA) on Thursday confirmed its plans to acquire the open-weight AI platform Hugging Face for roughly $13 billion, sending its shares up roughly 2%.
The deal will see Nvidia pay $12.93 billion for the platform, per a press release. More than 18 million developers, researchers, and creators use Hugging Face to share more than 3 million models, and more than 200,000 companies use the platform to discover and deploy AI, Nvidia said.
The move highlights how Nvidia has thrown its weight behind open-weight AI models. In a statement, Nvidia said Hugging Face would remain "an open platform for the entire AI ecosystem," that the company would continue to support open-weight and open-source AI models, and that Nvidia itself is the largest contributor of open models and data to the Hugging Face platform.
In a call following the announcement, Nvidia enterprise computing general manager Justin Boitano said the company "believe[s] in having a healthy ecosystem of closed models and open models leads to a world where you're going to continue to train these models and run these models at scale."
The only way for the Hugging Face user base to grow, Boitano said, is to keep giving those developers optionality in terms of the hardware, clouds, and other parts of the stack that they build on, even if "Nvidia will benefit from the training that's done and the inference that's done on our hardware."

First Phosphate Corp. (CSE:PHOS, NASDAQ:PHOS, FRA:KD0, OTCQX:FRSPF) earlier this week provided an update on the advancement of its Bégin-Lamarche property, with CEO John Passalacqua highlighting an expanded mineral resource, its NASDAQ uplisting and access to more than $50 million of capital as the company works towards its next development milestones.
Speaking to Proactive, Passalacqua said the updated NI 43-101 mineral resource estimate showed a significant increase in indicated resources and an increase in the volume of material.
He said the most important feature was the "continuity and consistency throughout the entire resource", adding that the update had given First Phosphate confidence to move into a feasibility study as soon as possible.
The feasibility study represents one of the company's key upcoming potential catalysts. Passalacqua said First Phosphate was targeting its release by the end of 2026 or early 2027, with permitting and an investment decision targeted by the end of 2027.
First Phosphate's recent NASDAQ uplisting could also broaden its access to US investors. Passalacqua said the company's American depositary receipt had been uplisted to the exchange, with its management team and board subsequently taking part in the opening bell ceremony in New York.

HOUSTON, Aug 19 (Reuters) - Crude oil prices rose on Wednesday and settled at the highest in nearly four weeks, as investors worried about escalating tensions in the Middle East after ‌the United Arab Emirates decided to suspend all financial and economic transactions with Iran, and as ship ‌traffic through the Strait of Hormuz remained slow.
Brent crude futures settled at $91.62 a barrel, up 60 cents, or 0.7%. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures rose 89 cents, or 1.1%, to settle at $85.83 a barrel.
Both benchmarks closed at their highest since July 24.
"Crude futures remain supported by the geopolitical tensions that remain in the Middle East, now with the UAE stating they have cut off all financial ties to Iran due to the latest missile attacks," said Dennis Kissler, senior vice president of ‌trading at BOK Financial.

Management attributed the revenue shortfall to a more challenging operating environment than anticipated, particularly within the North American new construction and commercial sheet door markets.
The self-storage segment saw growth driven by the Kiwi II Construction acquisition and international strength, which helped offset organic softness in domestic new construction.
Commercial and Other revenue declined 21.2% primarily due to weak demand for commercial sheet doors used in pre-engineered metal buildings, despite growth in the rolling steel product line.
The R3 (Restore, Rebuild, Replace) business remains a strategic bright spot, benefiting from institutional customers right-sizing facilities and increased conversion and expansion activity.

The freight market is seeing a major shift: capacity is tightening due to regulatory pressures and driver challenges, not just demand. Discover how these factors, alongside diverging spot rates and diesel prices, are impacting carriers and the overall supply chain. This deep dive into Q2 earnings from major players like Knight-Swift, Werner, and J.B. Hunt reveals a long-term trend.Learn more about the evolving dynamics of the trucking industry and what it means for the future of freight.
Truckload spot rates and diesel prices are moving in opposite directions, a divergence that supports the thesis that tight capacity — not fuel costs — is sustaining elevated freight rates. The Sonar NTI sat at $3.51 per mile as of the latest reading, climbing back from a mid-to-late June low near $4.90, while the diesel price at truck stops registered $3.48 per gallon, down from a July high near $3.80. The spread signals that carriers are holding rates even as fuel costs ease.
Tender rejections remain well above historical norms across all modes, according to Sonar data. The Sonar Truckload Rejection Index, or STRI, stands at 14.36%, above the six-month average of roughly 10.9%. Flatbed is the tightest mode at 23% rejections — down sharply from the 40% range seen in June and early July but still historically elevated. Reefer rejections sit at 19.46%, or nearly one in five loads, while van rejections are running nearly 50% above year-ago levels.
Recent carrier earnings are reinforcing the capacity-constraint narrative. Knight-Swift reported that its truckload segment operating income rose 69% year over year, with the carrier noting that strategic pricing recovery accelerated in June as recent bids took effect. The company described rapid tightening in supply-driven dynamics and tender rejections reaching levels not seen since 2021.
