American Airlines will no longer award miles or status points to basic economy fares
Members of American Airlines' loyalty program will no longer earn miles or other travel rewards when purchasing a basic economy ticket.
People enrolled in the carrier's AAdvantage program previously earned two miles and loyalty points for each dollar they spent on a regular fare. Now they will only earn points if they buy a more expensive ticket.

Bitcoin mining profitability plunged to record lows in late 2025 as the hash rate dropped below $35 per petahash per second, while production costs rose to $44.8 per petahash. This forced miners into payback periods over 1,200 days and drove a major industry shift, with 70% of top mining companies now earning revenue from artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Ubiquitous industrial chemicals and pesticides have a "toxic effect" on germs that play a key role in maintaining human health and could be a threat to male reproductive health, according to two teams of scientists.
"Many chemicals designed to act only on one type of target, say insects or fungi, also affect gut bacteria," says the University of Cambridge’s Indra Roux, whose team’s probe of more than 1,000 potential contaminants found 168 that are likely a danger to the human microbiome.

Trump cut tariffs on beef, bananas, coffee and more — but that won't curb prices
When the Trump administration announced it was easing tariffs on a slew of agricultural products, the goal was to appease consumers who are sick of dealing with rising grocery prices.
But though the reduced tariffs could help ease the rate of inflation for foods Americans rely on, it’s unlikely that shoppers will see significant price reductions in store aisles.

If you're climate-conscious, you might be interested to know that conventional cement production accounts for a massive chunk of annual global carbon dioxide emissions. Concrete and cement have been the standard for building houses and skyscrapers for decades, but the energy required to produce cement, especially for firing limestone in kilns, results in a massive environmental impact. There's an alternative right under our noses, though. Deep within your bone marrow, a specialized set of stem cells is busy pumping out new blood cells to sustain your body. As we age, these hematopoietic stem cells (or HSCs) become less productive, affecting our immune system and increasing our risk of conditions like anemia and cancer.
Now, scientists have found a way to rewind the clock in aging HSCs, which could potentially help to treat age-related blood and immune deficiencies.
Like most of our cells, HSCs contain tiny compartments known as lysosomes. These are the cells' recycling centers, where complex molecules like proteins and lipids
