A mystery buyer holds nearly $20 million in SPCX $330-strike calls expiring Friday, requiring the stock to nearly triple from $120.
Kochuba rules out retail, hedge funds, and market-makers, pointing instead to a bank hedging short exposure in the stock or volatility.
Pestrichelli says a $100 rally to $215 by Wednesday morning could make the position profitable, framing it as a cheap hedge rather than a speculative bet.

Open interest in a single out-of-the-money **** eX (NASDAQ:SPCX) call option is now approaching $20 million, and no one on Wall Street can say for certain who is behind it. The contract in question is the $330-strike call expiring this Friday, August 7, a strike that would require SPCX to nearly triple in four trading days from around $119.59. Brent Kochuba, founder of SpotGamma, thinks the fingerprints point to a big bank.

Today represents another milestone moment for the company that rewrote Wall Street's record books with its initial public offering (IPO) a little over seven weeks ago. Elon Musk's trillion-dollar artificial intelligence (AI) and ****** e economy conglomerate, ****** e Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) (NASDAQ: SPCX), is set to report its second-quarter operating results after the closing bell today, Aug. 4.

SpaceX (SPCX) reported second quarter results on Tuesday that topped estimates — its first report as a public company — which comes as the stock has been in a recent free fall. Rising capital expenditures in its Q2 report didn't help matters.
SpaceX's AI segment posted an operating loss of $1.26 billion versus estimates of $2.39 billion, but AI spending ballooned to $15.8 billion in the quarter, larger than expected and much higher than the $7.7 billion spent in Q1.
SpaceX stock slid nearly 10% on Wednesday, nearing recent lows.
The concern with ***** eX's large capital requirements — like those of other large AI frontier startups — is that its AI infrastructure investments will not generate a healthy return given the level of cash required.
"We now project capex of nearly $200B in both 2027 & 2028, which further pressures FCF in 2027, a trend we see across the hyperscalers," JPMorgan ***** yst Doug Anmuth said in a note to investors. On the flip side, Anmuth was impressed by ***** eX's rising annual revenue run rate (ARR), which CEO Elon Musk said could hit $100 billion by the end of the year.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average held in record-high territory Wednesday afternoon, following reports that Iran and Oman have reached a tentative agreement about waterway routes in the Strait of Hormuz. But a broader drop in tech names including ******* e Exploration Technologies (SPCX), known as ******* eX, on the stock market today pressured other indexes.
The Nasdaq reversed into the red, losing 0.4%. The Dow rose more than 400 points, or 0.8%, but pared its gain. The S&P 500 trimmed its advance to 0.1%, with six of its 11 sectors moving lower. Tech gained but lagged the rise in the defensive materials and health sectors. The S&P 500 and the Dow ended with record closing highs on Tuesday. Small caps turned lower Wednesday, pushing the Russell 2000 down 0.4%.
On the Dow, Walt Disney (DIS) climbed following the entertainment giant's third-quarter earnings report, but pared gains. The Nasdaq was hurt by slides in Astera Labs (ALAB) and ******* eX, as each fell more than 10%, and a loss of 6% in Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).
Reports Wednesday citing Iran's Foreign Ministry said Iran reached a memorandum of understanding related to coordinates for routes through the Strait of Hormuz.
Stocks opened higher Wednesday after President Donald Trump late Tuesday told reporters there had been progress in talks about reopening the Strait of Hormuz and that an agreement could be announced Wednesday or Thursday.

SpaceX (SPCX) and AMD reported reported better-than-anticipated earnings after the bell on Tuesday, but failed to impress investors sending shares lower.
SpaceX reported Q2 revenue of $7.8 billion versus $6.81 billion, per Bloomberg consensus, up sequentially from $4.7 billion in Q1.
But the company said capital expenditures dedicated to AI increased to $15.8 billion in the quarter. That was more than **** ysts were projecting and much higher than the $7.7 billion **** eX spent in Q1.

SpaceX (SPCX) is becoming an AI giant faster than expected. It is also spending like one.
The company's first quarterly report as a public company showed its AI business growing rapidly and swinging to an adjusted profit. But ****** eX spent nearly $16 billion on AI infrastructure during the quarter — more than six times the segment's revenue.
That advances a shift visible before the IPO. ****** eX entered the public market with a rocket company reputation, but its own filings pointed investors toward AI.
That helped push companywide revenue to $7.8 billion, up 92% from a year ago and well above Wall Street estimates. Adjusted EBITDA reached $3.5 billion, nearly triple the prior-year level.
The cash picture remains far less forgiving.

Results land on Tuesday, with the first insider lock-up expiring on Thursday and the shares below their float price
SpaceX Corp (NASDAQ:SPCX) will publish its first set of results as a listed company after the closing bell in New York on Tuesday, two days before the first tranche of insider stock becomes eligible for sale.
Analysts expect second-quarter revenue of about $6.9 billion, a rise of roughly 68% on the same period last year, and a loss of between $0.23 and $0.35 a share.
The company lost $4.9 billion in 2025, and in the first quarter of this year the net loss widened to $4.2 billion from $528 million, on revenue of $4.6 billion.
Nobody expects a profit, which leaves the market focused on the timing and shape of the losses rather than their existence.

SpaceX is slated to report quarterly results for the first time as a public company on Tuesday, with growth expected to be driven by surging AI revenue.
Experts say ****** eX's second-quarter results are likely to have less of an impact on the stock than executives' comments during a post-earnings call and post-IPO lockup expirations.
In less than two months as a publicly traded company, ****** eX has—fittingly, for a rocket company—both seen dizzying highs and fallen back to Earth.
What lies ahead? The company formally known as ****** e Exploration Technologies (SPCX) will on Tuesday evening offer up its first quarterly financial report since its IPO, submitting CEO Elon Musk to a test of Wall Street's conviction in his ability to deliver on his bold vision of orbital data centers, interplanetary commerce, and "extend[ing] the light of consciousness to the stars."
With the company valued at more than $1 trillion, there's a lot of money at stake. The stock charged out of the gate after staging the largest IPO in history, but it's mostly been downhill since: The shares closed Monday near $115, roughly half off their all-time high.

"Get to work, everybody, and get it DONE," Trump posted on Truth Social about a potential deal.

Tech stocks boosted the major indexes on Tuesday morning as markets eyed Middle East talks and earnings rolled in, with the arrival of ****** eX's (SPCX) earnings after the bell in focus.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite (^IXIC) led stocks higher, surging over 2%, while the S&P 500 (^GSPC) added 1.5%, pacing for a record high close. The blue-chip Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI) built on its own record high on Monday with a 1.7% gain.
A slew of important earnings updates helped lift stocks on Tuesday. Caterpillar (CAT), the Dow's second-largest component by weight and an industrial beneficiary of the AI build-out, gained 6% after its sales and revenue topped $20 billion for the first time.
Palantir (PLTR) stock also soared 26% following what CEO Alex Karp deemed an "otherworldly" quarter. In the second quarter, Palantir's commercial revenue from the US government surged 90% year over year.
That helped propel a rally in chip and tech stocks, as the PHLX Semiconductor Index (^SOX) jumped 6% and stocks such as Intel (INTC), Micron (MU), and Nvidia (NVDA) gained momentum.

SpaceX (SPCX) is to report second quarter earnings on August 4, offering investors their first look at how it might justify its nosebleed valuation.

Earnings now becomes a major test of whether Elon Musk's ***** e business can generate enough financial firepower to sustain his broader ambitions.

Shares of Rocket Lab (NASDAQ: RKLB) are down more than 13% so far this year. This is despite the excitement around ***** e stocks, especially the initial public offering (IPO) of ***** e Exploration Technologies (NASDAQ: SPCX), commonly known as ***** eX, on June 12.
The reasons for Rocket Lab's slump vary. In the fourth quarter of 2025, the company reported improved revenue of $180 million, up 36% year over year, and a loss per share (EPS) of $0.10, even with the same period a year earlier. Yet the stock dropped after the earnings release because Rocket Lab announced that the launch of its medium-lift reusable rocket, Neutron, would be pushed back to later in 2026. In a test, the Neutron rocket suffered a tank failure in early January.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
In the first quarter of 2026, the stock jumped 34% after the company's earnings report, with Rocket Lab reporting revenue of $200.3 million, up 63.5% year over year, and an EPS loss of $0.07, after an EPS loss of $0.12 in the first quarter of 2025.
The reason for the stock's rise after the second quarter report is clear. Revenue growth is nice, but investors are looking for improved profitability. However, there is another number that would really make a difference when the company -- founded by New Zealand entrepreneur Peter Beck -- announces its second-quarter earnings on Aug. 10: a list of Neutron commercial launch contract bookings, or a specific timeline in Neutron's first hot-fire test.

SpaceX releases its second-quarter earnings late Tuesday, marking the rocket-maker's first report since its public debut in June. Big institutional investments often shine a spotlight on companies that many investors may have overlooked. That's exactly what happened after BlackRock (BLK) disclosed a new 7.2% passive stake in Ondas (ONDS) through a Schedule 13G filing with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, revealing ownership of 38.1 million shares.
The move has put the spotlight back on Ondas, a company developing autonomous systems and advanced technology products for defense and industrial markets – two sectors drawing growing investor interest. The timing is particularly interesting.

Few chipmakers have rewarded investors as generously as Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). Over the past five years, the stock has surged 340.8%, leaving the technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite ($NASX) well behind after its 69.34% gain during the same period.
Much of that climb came during the last year and a half, when investors recognized that Advanced Micro had secured a front-row seat in the artificial intelligence (AI) boom. Rising demand for AI chips across data centers and personal computers has since given the company's growth story fresh momentum.

Space Exploration Technologies (NASDAQ: SPCX) made history in June when it completed the largest IPO in history. It's been a wild ride for the ****** e company since then. It opened at $150, meaningfully up from its IPO price of $135, and rose to as high as $225 in the following weeks. However, the stock has been mostly southbound recently, and at $109 as of writing, it is down 19% from its IPO price. Where will the stock go from here? Perhaps we can get a clue by looking at Tesla's (NASDAQ: TSLA) first year on the market. The other publicly traded corporation headed by Elon Musk bears some similarities to ****** eX. Let's dig in.
Continue »
SpaceX took on the challenge of revolutionizing ****** e travel. It used to be extremely difficult and expensive due to the use of disposable rockets. The company pioneered reusable rockets and helped significantly reduce launch costs. Now, it is the largest player in the field and continues to innovate. ****** eX is also deeply vertically integrated, which helps the company control costs. Tesla similarly moved the electric vehicle (EV) market forward through its vertically integrated approach, innovative battery technology, and EVs that could perform just as well as gas-powered cars. Tesla went public on June 29, 2010, and about two months into its life as a publicly traded company, the stock had declined by 18%.
TSLA data by YCharts
However, Tesla rebounded and had a respectable first year on the market, gaining 18% by the end of it, partly because of the company's plans to go beyond its first car, the Roadster -- a sports vehicle -- and to move into the mass-market category with the Model S, which it introduced in 2012. Can ****** eX also rebound and perform well through its first year on the market?

Just about everybody who works in Silicon Valley was sold the same dream: Take a low salary now, accept stock options, and work like a dog for a few years. Then, you can cash out when your unicorn goes public, and you'll retire before you hit age 30.
Well, that dream finally became a reality for a whole lot of ******* eX (SPCX) employees this summer. The company's blockbuster IPO was effectively one of the biggest wealth creation events the tech industry has ever seen. In fact, over 4,000 current and former employees were reportedly turned into overnight millionaires after years' worth of equity compensation suddenly became liquid.
