The college football season is finally here. Week 0 will kick things off this weekend, and it's actually not a terrible slate for Saturday.
Among the teams that are playing are the North Carolina Tar Heels, who will face off against the TCU Horned Frogs in Ireland. It will be a very important season for the Tar Heels and Bill Belichick as they need to have a winning season. UNC will have a change at the quarterback position as they saw Max Johnson, Gio Lopez, and Bryce Baker all transferred out.

UPS disclosed Monday that it is investing more than $2 billion across its international, healthcare, and supply chain solutions businesses, revealing the total figure for the first time. The investments began in 2024 and are set to continue through 2028, the company said.
Scott Szwast, UPS vice president of international strategy, framed the spending as an effort to build out capabilities that help customers in specialized sectors navigate increasingly complicated global supply chains. "These investments are really aligned to one of our big strategic areas of focus, which is creating capabilities to enable our customers, particularly in complex industries, to more effectively run their global supply chains," he told CNBC.
Among the initiatives are a new hub in the Philippines slated for this year, a facility in Ontario, Canada, due to open in 2027, and an air hub at Hong Kong International Airport scheduled for 2028. UPS has also opened a technology-enabled logistics center in Taiwan and an Amsterdam facility that integrates freight forwarding, customs brokerage, and cold-chain capabilities under one roof. The Taiwan facility has used automation and robotics to cut total supply chain time by one day, Szwast said. UPS also operates weekly service on the Paris–Hong Kong route and the Shenzhen–Sydney route, each running five days a week.
Szwast said that as global supply chains come under growing strain, companies have moved to spread risk across multiple sourcing and distribution points rather than relying on a single node, even as those same businesses push out new products with unfamiliar logistics demands faster than ever before. "What they find in a lot of cases is that their supply chains look more like their histories than their strategies," he said.
The $2 billion figure encompasses a previously announced $48 million buildout of 27 temperature-controlled facilities across the Americas, Europe, and Asia aimed at handling temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals, including GLP-1 weight loss drugs. Global oil inventories are falling rapidly as the U.S.-Iran conflict and disruption to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz continue to affect supplies, but Citi estimates it could take several years before overall stockpiles approach levels ***** ociated with previous major oil crises.
In a note to clients, Citi ***** ysts estimated that observed global inventories declined at a rate of approximately 3 million barrels per day between February and August 2026. That translates into a ***** ulative draw of around 519 million barrels over the period.
If inventories continue declining at a similar pace, Citi projects that OECD stocks could reach approximately 70 days of supply cover by the end of 2027. Inventories outside China could fall to that threshold around the middle of 2028, while global stockpiles could reach it during the first quarter of 2029.
The 70-day level is significant because, according to Citi, it was reached during the second oil shock of the 1970s and 1980s. At that time, energy expenditure climbed to approximately 8% of GDP. The bank estimates that a comparable burden today would imply all-in oil prices above $200 per barrel, compared with roughly $120 currently.
However, Citi warned that looking only at aggregate inventories could obscure much more immediate pressure in individual parts of the energy market.

The offseason is over, and college football is back … for a few teams, at least.
As in recent years, the regular season will start with a "Week Zero" handful of games. The vast majority of FBS teams will begin play a week later.
Even with an eight-game slate on tap for Saturday, Aug. 29, there is still plenty to look for as the college football season begins.
The day begins as North Carolina takes on TCU in Dublin, Ireland. This will be the official start of Year 2 in the Bill Belichick era at UNC, and he will be looking to improve on the disappointing 4-8 2025 campaign that included a 48-14 blowout loss to TCU in the season opener.
Saturday's slate concludes as Memphis heads west to take on UNLV. Charles Huff will debut as the Tigers' new head coach after going 7-5 with Southern Miss last season. The Rebels are not only preseason favorites in the Mountain West, but also many ***** ysts' choice to get the Group of Six College Football Playoff spot.

The Oklahoma Sooners are hoping to end a new three-decade national championship drought. The Sooners last won a national championship in 2000. The 25-year gap is the longest in program history since winning their first national championship in 1950.
Oklahoma has had some close calls during that time frame. The Sooners played for a national championship in 2003, 2004 and 2008, losing all three. They have also made the College Football Playoff five times but have yet to win a game in the playoff.
That's what head coach Brent Venables is hoping to change this upcoming season. He told News 9's Toby Rowland that Oklahoma has what it takes to win a national championship.
"Yeah, absolutely," Venables said via 'Oklahoma's Own.' "Without question. There's probably, whatever it is, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15 teams, give or take, that can win it all from a roster standpoint, a coaching standpoint. Now, you've got to put it all together. We've got a great schedule that's set up. That will be a worthy schedule when it's all said and done... But you don't play them all at once. You play them one at a time."
The biggest obstacle may be the schedule. Oklahoma faces the Michigan Wolverines, Georgia Bulldogs, Texas Longhorns, Florida Gators and Missouri Tigers away from home, giving the Sooners one of the most challenging slates in college football.

UPS disclosed Monday that it is investing more than $2 billion across its international, healthcare, and supply chain solutions businesses, revealing the total figure for the first time. The investments began in 2024 and are set to continue through 2028, the company said.
Scott Szwast, UPS vice president of international strategy, framed the spending as an effort to build out capabilities that help customers in specialized sectors navigate increasingly complicated global supply chains. "These investments are really aligned to one of our big strategic areas of focus, which is creating capabilities to enable our customers, particularly in complex industries, to more effectively run their global supply chains," he told CNBC.
Among the initiatives are a new hub in the Philippines slated for this year, a facility in Ontario, Canada, due to open in 2027, and an air hub at Hong Kong International Airport scheduled for 2028. UPS has also opened a technology-enabled logistics center in Taiwan and an Amsterdam facility that integrates freight forwarding, customs brokerage, and cold-chain capabilities under one roof. The Taiwan facility has used automation and robotics to cut total supply chain time by one day, Szwast said. UPS also operates weekly service on the Paris–Hong Kong route and the Shenzhen–Sydney route, each running five days a week.
Szwast said that as global supply chains come under growing strain, companies have moved to spread risk across multiple sourcing and distribution points rather than relying on a single node, even as those same businesses push out new products with unfamiliar logistics demands faster than ever before. "What they find in a lot of cases is that their supply chains look more like their histories than their strategies," he said.
The $2 billion figure encompasses a previously announced $48 million buildout of 27 temperature-controlled facilities across the Americas, Europe, and Asia aimed at handling temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals, including GLP-1 weight loss drugs. Banking giants JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM) and Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:WFC) have appeared multiple times on Jim Cramer's radar in 2026. For JPMorgan, Cramer has insisted on multiple occasions that the stock is undervalued when it comes to the price-to-earnings ratio. As for Wells Fargo, Cramer believes that the strategies put in place by CEO Charlie Scharf have not translated into a healthy multiple. On the 17th, the CNBC TV host continued to insist that the multiples were low:
"But I do think that JPMorgan, I'm gonna say it, I think it's still radically undervalued. Yeah, I put it down as stocks that I wish I owned, JPMorgan. You know, 15 multiple, just doing everything right. What is it doing down there? Why? Why?
"I think when you have JPMorgan up 12%, in a year when JPMorgan could be the dominant banking institution worldwide, that makes no sense to me. I mean, what are people thinking when they sell it? Cause it's at 14 times earnings? They expect it to be 13 times earnings?

Leam Richardson had a good pre-season and, on the whole, managed to restore some faith from the fans. However, he needed to start with victories and good performances, but we're yet to see Reading win a competitive game in 90 minutes since March.

As per tradition, our annual 30 Day Countdown to the season here on UWDP features a few days where we look ahead and try to preview our schedule and the opponents we'll face this season. Today, we'll be looking at the schedule to circle which opponent might have the best offense that we'll face. In my opinion, there's really only a few that stand out from an otherwise middling group of offenses on our 2026 slate.
As a refresher for those who might not have committed our schedule to memory, here's our 2026 opponents:
Generally speaking, our non-conference opponents don't really wow me when it comes to offensive firepower. Wazzu has a solid offensive mind at the helm in Kirby Moore, and transfer QB Caden Pinnick finished last season as one of the top QBs in FCS. However, the Cougs are rebuilding from scratch for the second year in a row under a new staff, and UW's defense made Pinnick a non-factor last year when UC Davis came to Montlake, so it's unlikely that they will be among the best offenses we'll face.
Utah State might be a bit frisky on offense under Bronco Mendenhall and OC Robert Anae. Anae, a long time Mendenhall **** istant across various stops including BYU and Virginia, is a well-respected offensive mind. His offenses often feature dynamic dual threat QBs and a diverse run game that has long-served as an equalizer against more talented opponents, but I'm still not sold on them being among the best overall offenses we'll face.
USC has always been talented, and they've been particularly dangerous on offense under Lincoln Riley. However, this season might be different for the Trojans. Their roster-building strategy took a noticeable shift over the last 18 months, culminating in a 42-man, #1 ranked 2026 class. At first glance, the sheer volume of incoming players stand out, but a deeper dive points to a wholesale shift in how they want to build this roster and why there's so much turnover heading into year 6. The Trojans want to reload the trenches.

Utah State might be a bit frisky on offense under Bronco Mendenhall and OC Robert Anae. Anae, a long time Mendenhall **** istant across various stops including BYU and Virginia, is a well-respected offensive mind. His offenses often feature dynamic dual threat QBs and a diverse run game that has long-served as an equalizer against more talented opponents, but I'm still not sold on them being among the best overall offenses we'll face.
USC has always been talented, and they've been particularly dangerous on offense under Lincoln Riley. However, this season might be different for the Trojans. Their roster-building strategy took a noticeable shift over the last 18 months, culminating in a 42-man, #1 ranked 2026 class. At first glance, the sheer volume of incoming players stand out, but a deeper dive points to a wholesale shift in how they want to build this roster and why there's so much turnover heading into year 6. Chargers left tackle Rashawn Slater returned to the practice field on Saturday.
Slater missed the entire 2025 season after suffering a torn patellar tendon during last summer's training camp. While he was initially cleared, a little flare-up in his surgically repaired left knee on August 4 forced the team to exercise caution.
After sitting out eight consecutive practices and missing the preseason matchup against the 49ers, Slater finally made his way back to action in a limited capacity. He participated in individual drills and the opening period of 11-on-11 team reps before moving aside to finish his day under the supervision of trainers.
Though Slater's workload is being heavily managed, there is plenty of reason for optimism regarding his return. Slater previously stated that his knee feels "strong and stable," adding that he appreciates the organization's "smart and thoughtful" approach to his long-term health.
Head coach Jim Harbaugh has indicated that he hopes to play his healthy starters for two full drives in the upcoming preseason game against the Rams on Thursday. Whether the coaching staff fields Slater or keeps him for the Week 1 opener against the Cardinals, his return signals that the offensive anchor is right on track.

High-powered IndyCars will take to the streets around the National Mall in Washington, D.C., on Sunday, racing in a 250-mile circuit that marks the latest Trump-backed sporting event to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the U.S.
The Freedom 250 Grand Prix is slated to take place Sunday in downtown D.C.
The Freedom 250 Grand Prix will wrap around a small portion of the National Mall in a 1.7-mile circuit near the Capitol that includes seven turns and 147 laps—adding up to a 250-mile race.
Nearly a half mile of Pennsylvania Avenue will be driven during the race, marking the circuit's longest straightaway in which cars will have a pit lane to their left and are expected to reach speeds around 185 mph (the speed limit for regular traffic there is 25 mph).
The race is free but attendance requires a general admission ticket, which is no longer available following the closing of a ticket request window on June 7.
