The Kansas City Chiefs recently named Burns & McDonnell as the owner's representative for the new practice facility and headquarters in Olathe, Kansas.
Burns & McDonnell will join CAA ICON to serve as the team's trusted advisor throughout the development of the new team facilities that support both business and football operations. Chiefs project leaders will coordinate to help ensure the facility is delivered to high standards.
"We are extremely excited to have Burns & McDonnell join our project team as owner's representative for our new practice facility and headquarters that we will be building in Olathe," Chiefs Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer Matt Kenny said in a statement. "As a local, employee-owned firm with a track record of project success around the world, we know they have the right mix of local knowledge as well as global experience to help us navigate the upcoming design and construction phases of a truly unique year-round home for our football team and staff."
The facility is set to open ahead of the 2031 football season. The new $300 million practice facility and headquarters will be located on approximately 155 acres near the intersection of College Boulevard and Ridgeview Road in Olathe.
The Chiefs recently revealed design renderings of the new stadium, also projected to open in 2031.

The Federal Reserve has banned a former bank executive in Illinois for approving loans based on inflated appraisals.
James Burns, who served as chief lending officer at Heritage State Bank in Lawrenceville from 1999 until its acquisition by nearby First National Bank of Carmi in 2020, approved four loans based on appraisals that were altered to reflect inflated property values, according to the Fed.
Separately, Burns failed to make sure that at least 25 loans or loan renewals were appraised by licensed appraisers and ignored inconsistencies in the appraisals. The appraisals valued collateral at levels significantly higher than when the same properties were re-appraised by FNBC post-merger.
When FNBC foreclosed on some of the affected loans, its collateral sale "yielded substantially less than the original appraisal value, causing a loss to FNBC," according to the Fed.

Three teenage girls were arrested in Jersey City last month after they allegedly threw acid on a group of six women, a spokesperson for the city recently revealed.
On June 15, six women were near Wilkinson Avenue when "individuals approached and threw what is believed to be sulfuric acid at them," Jersey City Department of Public Safety spokesperson Kim Wallace Scalcione said in a statement obtained by Fox News Digital.
Scalcione todl Fox News Digital that three female suspects — aged 13, 14 and 15 — were arrested in connection with the attack on June 16 and 17.
"All six victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries that included skin burns and peeling," Scalcione said.

Roch Cholowsky has reportedly received the largest bonus ever seen in the current era of the MLB Draft. It still represents money saved for the Chicago White Sox.
The first overall pick of the 2026 MLB Draft has agreed to a $10.35 million signing bonus with the White Sox, according to ESPN. That breaks a record of $9.25 million previously shared by Cincinnati Reds pitcher Chase Burns and Colorado Rockies minor leaguer Charlie Condon, the No. 2 and 3 picks of the 2024 Draft.
However, the slot value of the top pick this year was $11,350,600, meaning Cholowsky agreed to a bonus about $1 million smaller than what was officially ear-marked for him.
It is a common strategy for teams to go under-slot with their top pick, as they can use the larger remaining bonus pool to draft and sign major talents in the later rounds.
Case in point, the Washington Nationals last year signed No. 1 pick Eli Willits to an $8.2 million signing bonus last year despite a slot value of $11,075,900, then gave significantly over-slot bonuses between to their next four draft picks. Coy James, the No. 142 overall pick of the draft (slot value: $508,900), got a $2.5 million bonus, which was larger than that of No. 34 overall pick Michael Oliveto.

CHICAGO (AP) — Roch Cholowsky has agreed to a contract with the Chicago White Sox that includes a record-breaking $10.35 million signing bonus after he was the No. 1 overall pick in last weekend's amateur draft.
A person familiar with the contract confirmed the agreement to the AP on Tuesday because it hadn't been announced by the team.
The slot value for the top pick this year was $11,350,600. Cholowsky's bonus tops the previous mark of $9.25 million for the amateur draft that belonged to Reds pitcher Chase Burns and Rockies prospect Charlie Condon, two of the top three selections in 2024.
Cholowsky, a 6-foot-2 shortstop who turned 21 in April, hit .320 with 21 homers, 60 RBIs and a 1.088 OPS in 60 games this season for UCLA.

For years, we've come to expect the MLB All-Star Game to feature players who have perennially been among the best in the sport. We become accustomed to seeing the same names fill out the rosters. Guys like Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer, Jacob deGrom, Chris Sale, Jose Altuve, Mike Trout, and more. While some of those names are still here in Philadelphia, it feels like we're witnessing a little bit of a changing of the guard, particularly amongst the starting pitchers.
This year's All-Star rosters had 26 first-time players selected, and 14 of the starting pitchers will be making their first or second appearance in the Midsummer Classic. Six of those starting pitchers (plus Paul Skenes, who is making his third appearance) are 26 years old or younger, and all of them, apart from Skenes, have made fewer than 35 career MLB starts. For comparison's sake, Chris Sale, who is also participating in the All-Star Game, has made 329 career starts (even with his litany of injuries).
"I think the game's changing, the game's getting younger," acknowledged Reds' starting pitcher Chase Burns, who is making his first career All-Star appearance. "I know it probably sucks to say that for older guys, but, you know, it's because of them that the game's gotten better."
That deference to the veterans was common amongst the young hurlers who were present at the All-Star game: "It's a good mix of older, veteran guys that we can learn from, and then a lot of hungry guys that are trying to make it back here every year and stay healthy," said Yankees' starter Cam Schlittler, who is also making his first All-Star appearance.
The "hungry" young guys that Schlittler talked about have been making their presence known this season. Among qualified starting pitchers, five of the top 10 starters in WAR are current All-Stars who are 26 years old or younger. Seven of the top 12 qualified starting pitchers in terms of strikeout rate are 26 years old or younger, including the Guardians' Gavin Williams and the Mets' Nolan McLean, who were not selected as All-Stars.

Wrobleski was added to the National League roster in place of injured Reds starter Chase Burns. It’s quite the birthday gift for Wrobleski, who will turn 26 on Tuesday — the day of the All-Star game in Philadelphia.
Wrobleski played one season at OSU (2021) after transferring in from junior college. He made eight starts for the Cowboys, going 3-2 with a 4.20 ERA.

Aldrich Potgieter came in third in the Last Chance Qualifier on Monday morning, but later in the afternoon he found his way into the field of the 154th Open Championship anyway. That's because South Africa's Louis Oosthuizen announced he was withdrawing from the championship at Royal Birkdale, opening a spot for Potgieter, the first alternate and a fellow South African.
No reason was listed for Oosthuizen's WD. The 2010 Open champion has played every year since his victory at St. Andrews except for a WD in 2013. But in three of the last four years he has missed the cut.
Since joining the LIV Golf League in 2022, Oosthuizen, 43, has played in five majors but made the cut only once (T-60, 2022 PGA).
Despite missing out on qualifying at the Last Chance Qualifier, there seemed a reasonable chance Potgieter might have still gotten into the field. Sam Burns had said previously that he wasn't going to play in the Open because his wife is due to have their second child soon, potentially setting himself up for a WD before the event. Matti Schmid now is listed as first alternate, with Andrew Wilson, runner-up in the Last Chances qualifier, the second alternate.

LAS VEGAS – King Green seems like he's the kind of guy who doesn't say something if he doesn't mean it.
So when he said fighting Terrance McKinney was a little bit personal, and a lot about teaching a lesson, it was hard to not buy into it. After he put McKinney away with one second left in the opening round at UFC 329, he said they squashed their brief beef and planned to head out into "Sin City" to prove it – together.
And that they did, according to Green's social media posts after his TKO win at T-Mobile Arena to open the main card Saturday. Green (36-17-1 MMA, 17-12-1 UFC) was given the business by McKinney (18-9 MMA, 8-6 UFC) in the early moments of their fight, and his face showed it afterward. But in the final 30 seconds, he caught McKinney and hurt him, then kept the pressure on to get the stoppage with a second left in the opening frame.
"You've got to understand this is at its highest pinnacle," Green said after the fight. "The emotions are high, but you've got to be able to be in the fire. You've got to keep the emotions high, but you've got to control your emotions at the same time. It's a weird game that you've got to play. So they're high. I'm looking at him. He's looking at me. They're high, and they're in the fight. … But I'm just so used to the fire and the way it burns. It is what it is."
Green said in the buildup to the fight that his disappointment with McKinney was in his accepting the bout to begin with. In Green's eyes, they had a handshake deal in place – and McKinney admitted during fight week that he broke it so he could be part of a fight card headlined by Conor McGregor.

The Cincinnati Reds are not in the best of shape to make a postseason run this season, so it wouldn't be a huge surprise if they were trade deadline sellers.
While players like Elly De La Cruz, Chase Burns, and Hunter Greene won't be on the move, the Reds could look to move some of their impending free agents. One such player is a $15 million slugger who likely could be had for cheap.
Tim Kelly of Bleacher Report highlighted Eugenio Suarez, the Reds' $15 million free-agent signing, as a player teams could "buy low" on this summer thanks to a simple 49 home-run reason.
"Things haven't gone according to plan, as a left oblique strain cost Suarez a month and the Reds find themselves in last place in the NL Central..." Kelly writes. "... Sure, he's only hit nine home runs this season, but he clubbed 49 a year ago between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Mariners."

Just three days before the best players in Major League Baseball take the field for the 2026 MLB All-Star Game, the future stars got the spotlight at the 2026 MLB Draft.
The draft is now 20 rounds, spanning both Saturday and Sunday in Philadelphia. While Major League Baseball has proposed changes to the format and eligibility of the MLB Draft, right now, American high school players and college players who are three years removed from high school are eligible to be drafted. While the players drafted on Saturday in the first round of the MLB Draft may not have the name recognition of guys taken in the NBA or NFL Draft, they have every bit the chance to make a near-immediate impact on their organizations, as Chase Burns and Nick Kurtz did for the Reds and Athletics, respectively, about a year after being selected.
So who were the picks I was most impressed, confused, or intrigued by?
I know it feels silly to put the first overall pick here, but I think this is more about what the pick says about the White Sox's frame of mind. There is a pretty compelling case that Grady Emerson (who eventually went second) has a higher ceiling than Cholowsky as a prospect. A high school senior, Emerson is farther along as a player at his age than Cholowsky was, and there aren't many flaws in his game. However, Cholowsky, after three seasons at UCLA, is certainly closer to being MLB-ready. With the White Sox contending for a playoff spot in 2026, they opted to pick the player who was most likely to help them in the next two or three years. To me, that's a vote of confidence not just in what the White Sox are building for the future but in what they have right now. I love that the White Sox are looking to be better now (or in 2027) and not just in the future.
The consensus best pitching prospect in the draft going to a team with glaring needs in the rotation is obviously something that we should support. Thessaloniki, Greece — A man was nearly sucked out the window of a Ryanair flight when it "detached" midair en route to Germany, with other passengers pulling him back inside, a witness told Greek media on Friday.
The passenger, described as a tourist from Serbia on a flight from Thessaloniki in Greece to Memmingen in Germany, was hospitalized with friction burns but was otherwise in good condition, authorities said. The ****** ociated Press quoted an unnamed Greek hospital official as saying the 61-year-old man was treated for neck and shoulder injuries and friction burns.
"Most of us had fallen asleep, we had closed our eyes. There was a noise, like a tire bursting," a fellow passenger told Radio Thessaloniki.
"We immediately realized there had been a decompression. There were screams ... for a moment I thought someone had accidentally opened the emergency door," the woman said. "The masks dropped and there was a strong smell. The head and shoulders of one passenger were outside the window. Fortunately, he hadn't taken off his seat belt."
Other passengers near the man helped to pull him in, she said.

Remember when Pittsburgh Steelers defender T.J. Watt was regarded as one of the NFL's best edge rushers? Yeah, me too. But ESPN also took notice of his decline in 2025, as the Steelers veteran tumbled down in the new edge rusher rankings.
After being ranked as the No. 2 edge rusher in last year's rankings, Watt has fallen all the way to No. 7, just ahead of Nick Bosa of the San Francisco 49ers and Brian Burns of the New York Giants.
"This is a sizable fall for Watt, a three-time sack king who logged back-to-back No. 2 rankings over the past two years," ESPN's Jeremy Fowler wrote. "Watt missed three late-season games in 2025 with a partially collapsed lung due to an accident during a routine dry needling incident at the team facility. But his pass rush win rate in 14 games was 11.7%, the lowest among this year's top 10 rushers."
Fowler also added that Watt could be a beneficiary of Pittsburgh's scheme change under new defensive coordinator Patrick Graham. And while that may be wishful thinking, Watt can't possibly get worse after his struggles in 2025.

Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy are running it back.
According to a report from Josh Carpenter in the Sports Business Journal — and later announced by Versant — both stars are confirmed to return for a second Optum Golf Channel Games, with the event moving to Wednesday, Dec. 16 on Golf Channel and USA Sports. Scheffler and McIlroy are, for now, the only two names locked in. The eight-man field that filled out the inaugural event, Ryder Cup captains Keegan Bradley and Luke Donald among them, along with Shane Lowry, Haotong Li, Luke Clanton and Sam Burns, hasn’t been rebuilt yet, at least not publicly.
The inaugural Golf Channel Games aired live from Trump National Golf Club Jupiter last December, with Scheffler and McIlroy each drafting four-man teams for a night of made-for-TV skills challenges: a timed driving competition, a 14-club closest-to-the-pin format, a four-man relay, and a head-to-head captain’s challenge between the two captains.

After a day off on Monday, the Cincinnati Reds opened a crucial six-game homestand with their backs against the proverbial wall in this 2026 season. They stood at 41-48 and in last place in the National League’s Central division, and were about to welcome behemoths to town in the form of the Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago Cubs.
If ever there were a time to show up for this season, it was tonight. Instead, the Reds got absolutely waxed by a Phillies club that’s playing some of the best ball in the sport right now.
Phillies starter struck out 14 in his time on the mound, the Phils staff struck out an astonishing 18 Reds on the evening, and Kyle Schwarber – whom the Reds ‘tried’ to sign over the winter to no avail – socked a back-breaking 2-run homer off Andrew Abbott that sealed a 4-1 loss for Cincinnati in a game they desperately needed to win.
Abbott, to his credit, was hardly the problem on the night. He yielded 3 ER in 6.0 IP, the Schwarbomb the only true mistake he made. He fanned 8 against nary a walk and allowed just 5 H in his effort, and he once again showed he’s a rock within a rotation that’s otherwise been shaky (non Chase Burns edition) all season long.
Cincinnati’s offense, though, simply had no fight back.

Sir Andrew Strauss has voiced concerns over the timing of Ben Stokes’ international retirement, despite acknowledging that English cricket will be "far worse" and "less interesting" without the all-rounder.
The England captain’s decision to step away from the Test arena was revealed during a live match, a move Strauss believes created an unnecessary distraction.
News of Stokes’ departure, effective after the third Test against New Zealand, broke at 3.25pm on the penultimate day’s play at Trent Bridge, while he was in the midst of a bowling spell. Anyone who runs refrigerated freight knows this, because they are paying for two fuel burns on every load: the diesel that moves the truck down the road, and the separate diesel that runs the refrigeration unit on the trailer keeping the freight cold. Both come out of the same pocket. Only one of them is actually pushing the truck down the highway.
Prime Inc., the Springfield, Missouri carrier that runs roughly 9,000 trucks and is one of the largest refrigerated carriers in the country, has decided that the distinction is worth more than $11 million, and it is now making that case in federal court against the Internal Revenue Service.
In a complaint filed June 16, 2026, in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri, Prime petitioned the IRS for a refund of $11,016,644 in federal fuel excise tax that it paid between 2018 and 2021. The basis for the claim is specific and, on its face, straightforward. Prime argues that the diesel used exclusively to power the refrigeration units on its trailers, fuel that never propelled a vehicle, constitutes an off-highway, nontaxable business use, and that taxing it as standard highway fuel was improper.
The logic rests on what the federal fuel excise tax is actually for. That tax, currently 24.3 cents per gallon on undyed diesel, exists to fund "highway infrastructure". It is, in effect, a user fee for the roads. Fuel that runs a refrigeration unit on a trailer does not use the highway in that sense. It is burned to spin a compressor and keep a box cold, whether the truck is rolling down the interstate or parked at a dock overnight. Prime's position is that fuel doing that work was never highway fuel and should never have carried the highway tax. This is where technically, the point is very valid.
This is not Prime's first attempt to recover the money. According to the complaint, Prime previously filed for refunds covering the periods ending March 31, 2018 through December 31, 2020, and the IRS denied all of those claims. Prime then filed an additional claim on September 12, 2025 covering 2021, and as of the complaint, it had received neither a refund nor a denial notice for that year. Having exhausted the administrative route without success, Prime has moved the fight to federal court. In addition to the $11 million, it is seeking litigation costs, attorney fees, and prejudgment and post-judgment interest.

The starting pitcher market is more difficult to manage than that at any other position. The nature of the position — appearing on the mound once every five games — makes it difficult to separate fact from fiction when **** sing a statistical profile. And the frequent long-term injuries add to the cloudy nature of our favorite mound men. Here are a few hurlers who could be valued incorrectly on the Yahoo Trade Market.
Chase Burns, Reds: Burns is a terrific young pitcher who will likely be drafted as an ace next year. But there are reasons to believe that his 2026 value is currently at its peak. The right-hander has benefited from a 93.4% strand rate that is 7.3% higher than that of any other qualified pitcher. Even with his skills, that rate will likely drop by 10%, which will push his 2.00 ERA closer to the 3.00-3.30 range of his ERA estimators. It's also fair to worry about a restriction of innings in the second half for someone who threw 109.1 frames between the minors and majors last year.
Eduardo Rodríguez, Diamondbacks: Rodríguez was mentioned in this **** e a few weeks ago and remains an obvious sell-high candidate. His 2.27 ERA ranks sixth in baseball, but all of the popular ERA estimators **** ign him a mark north of 4.00. The southpaw struggles to collect whiffs (18.0% strikeout rate) and has average control (9.8% walk rate). Rodríguez will soon experience regression on his .251 BABIP and 86.9% strand rate. Wise managers will trade him for anyone who they see as a roster mainstay.
Nick Martinez, Rays: Martinez has plenty of similarities to Rodríguez as someone who should be traded for anything of value. The 35-year-old has logged a 2.73 ERA that doesn't resemble his 4.60 xERA, mainly thanks to an 83.2% strand rate. His swing-and-miss skills are far below average (15.1% strikeout rate), and in the long run they will be too low to be offset by strong control skills (4.7% walk rate). Regression has already started to set in, as Martinez has posted a 6.04 ERA in June.
Michael King, Padres: Although he recovered with a strong start on Monday, King has been a mess of late, posting a 5.08 ERA and 1.34 WHIP over his past six starts. His swing-and-miss skills have completely disappeared over that stretch (5.1 K/9 rate), and his control skills have been subpar all season. This is the second straight year that King has logged an ERA that is roughly a full run lower than his ERA estimators. Fantasy managers should get what they can for the right-hander before his numbers take another tumble.

Three of golf’s biggest tournaments are now complete.
Needless to say, there’s been strong LSU representation in each one by Shreveport native Sam Burns.
After a rough start to the year where he was cut from three of the four tournaments to open the season, Burns ripped off a T13 at the Players Championship, T7 at the Masters, T26 at the PGA Championship, T4 at the Memorial, and came just one putt short from a playoff at the U.S. Open this past weekend at Shinnecock Hills in New York.
Burns played solid golf all weekend long, shooting +1 on Thursday and a -2 on Friday to keep him in the mix. Saturday was a step in the wrong direction with another +1, but the final round was a dazzler on one of the sport’s toughest courses.
Burns had four birdies on his opening nine and another on 16 after bogeying the prior hole, but tough pars on 17 and 18 kept him at -3 for the day and for the tournament.

For 54 holes, Golf Twitter would have had you believing that the 2026 U.S. Open at Shinnecock was one of the most boring major championships ever. Then, Sunday happened.
We often forget that much of the good stuff doesn't happen until the final round, like Wyndham Clark nearly spoiling a six-stroke lead, the fans turning on him, Sam Burns making a serious push, etc. These majors are always building toward the back nine on Sunday, and the back nine on Sunday delivered at Shinnecock.
That said, not everyone cared for the fan behavior, understandably so. It was downright uncomfortable even for those watching from home. Americans pulling that hard against an American is probably not something we will ever see again in our national championship, or any major for that matter. Then again, the PGA Championship is coming back to Long Island at Bethpage Black in 2033.
Golfweek's Eamon Lynch, speaking on Golf Channel Monday morning, argued that the PGA should ditch Bethpage in 2033, and Long Island entirely, because their fans continue to prove that they are a "stain" on the game. Sheesh. Harsh? Or fair?

Brandel Chamblee has admitted that he has never seen anything like the reaction Wyndham Clark received during the final round of the US Open at Shinnecock Hills.
Clark is now a two-time US Open champion after an extremely impressive performance in New York. The 32-year-old was far from his best on Sunday as he looked to hold on to a six-shot lead.
Sam Burns piled the pressure on with his round of 67. But Clark also had to deal with an extremely partisan crowd that did not want to see him get across the line.
There were jeers from the very start of Clark’s final round, while some spectators made no secret of the fact that they wanted his ball to roll into the bunker at every opportunity.
Meanwhile, other players were told by those behind the ropes that they wanted to see anyone but Clark win the third major of the year.
