President Donald Trump on Wednesday evening said he counseled Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh to vote for an interest rate hike because other Fed officials were expected to vote that way anyway.
"I said do what you want because it doesn't matter because he doesn't have the votes," Trump said to reporters as he was traveling in North Carolina to campaign for a Senate candidate.

"I told Kevin, I said, 'You might as well vote with the board because it's just not going to matter. ... The board is very hostile," Trump said. "They're very political. They're doing the wrong thing. They're a bunch of politicians. They are people put on by politicians."
In the same interview with reporters, Trump also suggested that he doesn't expect Warsh to follow his directions, saying he wanted the Fed "to be independent."

GENEVA (AP) — Human rights experts commissioned by the U.N.'s top human rights body say they have found "reasonable grounds" to believe the United States committed war crimes in two strikes in Iran, including on a school in the southern city of Minab.
The international fact-finding mission on Iran says the findings center on a pair of airstrikes that killed at least 178 civilians, including women and children.
At the start of the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran in February, at least one U.S. missile hit the Shajareh Tayyebeh school in Minab, according to an ****** ociated Press investigation. There has been no final accounting of what happened. Iranian state media have said 168 people were killed in the strike, most of them children.
"Following the United States and Israeli attacks on 28 February, the mission found reasonable grounds to believe the United States committed the war crime of launching indiscriminate attacks resulting in the loss of life or injury to civilians or damage to civilian objects," the fact-finding team said in a statement.
The Trump administration has yet to directly accept the blame or release findings of a Pentagon investigation into the school bombing.

It doesn't look like a market crash is in our future.
A housing market crash happens when home values plummet due to a lack of demand for or an oversupply of homes. The factors leading to a housing market crash are varied, ranging from economic recessions to high mortgage rates that make it less affordable to buy a home. A housing crash can have upsides (low home prices) and downsides (losing built-up equity and tighter finances).

So, what's ahead for the housing market in 2026?

Despite 58% of Gen Z wanting a housing market crash, according to Clever, experts don't foresee one in 2026. If anything, they see a greater sense of normalcy following multiple years of twists and turns.

At the beginning of 2026, the biggest question surrounding the Federal Reserve and interest rates was whether the Fed would cut its target rate at some point this year. However, it's become increasingly clear that a rate cut won't happen any time soon. In fact, it's possible that the Fed may increase its benchmark rate before the year is over.
Following the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC)'s most recent meeting in July, under the leadership of new Fed Chair Kevin Warsh, the committee announced its decision to maintain the target range for the federal funds rate at 3.50%-3.75%.
In its statement, the committee noted that "inflation remains elevated relative to the Committee's 2 percent goal, in part reflecting supply shocks that have driven price increases in certain sectors, including energy. The Committee will deliver price stability."
The Fed has not cut rates since late 2025, yet interest rates on consumer loans and bank accounts steadily decreased throughout 2026 — at least, until recently. Recent rate increases are a sign that the market is already pricing in a rate hike. And with a few more Fed meetings on the calendar for the remainder of 2026, consumers are wondering how potential rate changes could impact their bottom lines.

US stocks fell for a second day in a row on Tuesday as investors braced for the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision on Wednesday and monitored the fallout from Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei's essay on AI safety fears.
The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite (^IXIC) declined 0.8% while the Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI) dropped 0.7%. The S&P 500 (^GSPC) tumbled more than 0.4%.
Oil prices ticked back up, with Brent crude (BZ=F) and WTI crude (CL=F) changing hands at $108 and $105 per barrel, respectively. Prices have remained elevated since Saudi Arabia shuttered its East-West pipeline and the Iranian-backed Houthis launched fresh attacks in the Middle East.
Bond yields have also shot up as investors await the next Fed policy decision. The yield on the 10-year note (^TNX) hovered around 5%. The move follows the key interest rate briefly rising overnight to its highest intraday level since 2007, underscoring concerns about rising borrowing costs, global deficits, and inflation.
The Federal Open Market Committee began its September meeting on Tuesday, with traders overwhelmingly expecting a rate hike. The release of the so-called dot plot, along with Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh's press conference, could offer investors clues about the prevailing winds in the Fed's monetary policy.

A public company typically has limited control over third-party financial products that reference its shares, but Robinhood Markets, Inc. (NASDAQ:HOOD) and AMC Entertainment Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:AMC) are now testing that notion in public, in one of the year's most intense corporate spats. The debate revolves over stock tokens and has evolved from a heated social media post on September 3 to a live televised retort by September 9.
Robinhood Markets, Inc. (NASDAQ:HOOD) expanded its tokenized shares offering, which is issued through a unit named Robinhood ****** ets (Jersey) Limited and traded on Robinhood's proprietary blockchain, Robinhood Chain, to include over 190 public firms, including AMC, without the companies directly signing on. When AMC CEO Adam Aron discovered that his company was among them, he did not mince words. On September 3, Aron posted on X, calling the practice "contemptible, outrageous, disgusting, detestable, inexcusable, vile," questioning how it could possibly be legal, and stating that AMC Entertainment Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:AMC) had no relation to the tokens and did not condone them.
He stated that the company would retain independent securities counsel and vowed to take the matter to the SEC, characterizing Robinhood's tokens as an unregistered securities product that undermines the regular relationship between a public company and its shareholders.
The market reaction was fast and telling: AMC shares rose as much as 21% in overnight trading after the public dispute broke out.
Robinhood did not back down. In the days that followed, the company's chief legal officer, Dan Gallagher, a former SEC commissioner, mocked the tone of Aron's complaint on social media, saying Robinhood "know[s] a little something about the US securities laws," and inviting AMC's lawyers to contact them. CEO Vlad Tenev originally commented on X with a brief "What's the concern?" before making his first extensive, broadcast comments on the controversy in a CNBC "Squawk Box" interview on September 9.

As high mortgage rates and elevated home prices continue to crimp housing affordability, Federal Housing Finance Agency's Bill Pulte is seeking cuts to a common "hidden cost" of homeownership.
Targeting private mortgage insurance, which around 800,000 borrowers used to buy homes last year, Pulte is aligning policies between mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to allow loan servicers to proactively call borrowers when they're eligible to drop their mortgage insurance. Previously, only Freddie Mac allowed servicers to do so.
"If your Home is worth more, or you have paid the loan down far enough, you should be able to drop EXTRA Mortgage Insurance," Pulte wrote in a post on X on Tuesday.
"Right now Fannie Mae will not let your loan company call and tell you that you may qualify because your home has gone up in value! You have to know to ask. Freddie Mac will let them call. That is crazy. We are fixing that. Fannie Mae will follow Freddie's rule: if you may qualify to drop unnecessary extra insurance because your home has gained value, they can contact you and walk you through how to cancel your PMI. You can stop paying for coverage you do not need and keep the money."

What happened: Bitcoin (BTC-USD) fell 4% to hover below $76,000 on Tuesday.
What's behind the move: The world's largest cryptocurrency lost ground ahead of a Fed decision this week, and as the CLARITY Act struggled to clear a cloture vote in the Senate.
Hopes of securing the 60 votes needed to proceed faded ahead of the afternoon vote as Republicans and Democrats remained divided over the latest version of the bill.
Polymarket bettors gave the bill a 5% chance of becoming law this year. Investors now fear it will be shelved until after the midterm elections and potentially pushed to 2029.
The crypto market has been closely following the bill aimed at establishing a comprehensive federal framework for digital ****** et markets.

Palantir Technologies (PLTR) and Nebius Group (NBIS) have joined forces in a partnership that directly supports both companies' growth stories. Palantir gets a compute partner that can support its push into sovereign AI, while Nebius gains access to a prominent enterprise distribution channel through Palantir. That makes the deal appear straightforward and mutually beneficial on paper. Still, both stocks face growing investor skepticism. Palantir's valuation remains a major point of debate among investors, and Nebius still needs to show that its capital-heavy build-out will eventually lead to durable profitability.
Palantir has designated Nebius as its preferred sovereign AI infrastructure partner. The company plans to integrate Nebius' compute and inference endpoints into the Palantir enterprise perimeter following an integration period. The partnership will allow eligible Palantir customers to use Nebius' infrastructure while maintaining control over their own compute, models, and data. The companies will also collaborate to expand compute capacity more quickly, including through modular data center builds at sites with available power.

Two former Robinhood engineers were charged with fraud on Tuesday in a Hyperliquid insider trading case, accused of buying futures contracts before their employer announced new token listings.
Hefu Chai, 36, and Huaisong Xiang, 30, each face one count of violating the Commodity Exchange Act and one count of wire fraud. Prosecutors say the pair made more than $50,000 apiece.
"Robinhood takes market integrity seriously and has zero tolerance for insider trading. We have robust insider trading policies and procedures in place, including for new crypto listings. In some markets, it costs less to rent than to buy — by a lot. And it could be a great way to save a ton of money during your retirement years.
Mortgage and financial consultant Cody Schuiteboer of Best Interest Financial said many retirees never even consider renting as a serious option.
"There is an unshakeable mentality that buying is always the right choice, but the opposite is often true in retirement," he said. "If renting is actually cheaper in that market, renting lets retirees stretch their nest egg further."
MoneyLion ran the rent-versus-ownership numbers in the top retirement destinations along the East Coast and found the cities offering the greatest savings to renters. The homeownership numbers ****** umed a 10% down payment and a 6.53% interest rate, using average home price and rent numbers from Zillow.
Best of all, the following retirement hubs all have a total monthly expenditure cost under $4,000 according to BLS data, and adults over 65 make up at least 20% of the population.

Portfolio results were mixed, with Alphabet benefiting from strong Cloud growth, while Robert Half, H&R Block and other holdings posted solid gains. In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Conventum – Alluvium Global Fund highlighted H&R Block, Inc. (NYSE:HRB). H&R Block, Inc. "Last quarter we mentioned in regard to H&R Block, Inc. (NYSE:HRB), the tax agents, that a "SAASpocalypse" did not necessarily apply across the board, and that there was a mispricing opportunity so we bought more. Somewhat ironically, during its results call in early May, management stated that rather than AI replacing its products, it is using AI to build better products which are being well received. After returning 21.3% during the quarter, it now accounts for 4.6% of the Fund. Although it is now trading at a more respectable price, H&R Block achieves high returns on its capital, and trades at double digit cash flow and earnings yields. In no way do we see it as expensive."
H&R Block, Inc. (NYSE:HRB) is not on our list of the 40 Most Popular Stocks Among Hedge Funds. As per our database, 33 hedge fund portfolios held H&R Block, Inc. (NYSE:HRB) at the end of the second quarter which was 35 in the previous quarter. While we acknowledge the potential of H&R Block, Inc. Conventum – Alluvium Global Fund stated the following regarding Alibaba Group Holding Limited (NYSE:BABA) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Alibaba Group Holding Limited (NYSE:BABA) was down 21.3%. Its results were all about AI, and how its investments are paying off, and management's confidence to make further investments. So the only disappointing news (if you can call it that), was that free cash is being chewed up by capital expenses to the point where it has become negative. The results were generally well received. Share price fluctuations are par for the course, especially for Alibaba. We are not fussed. As a consequence of the falling share price, its maintainable earnings yield (on our numbers) has increased to 7.7% and it is trading at a circa 30% discount to our valuation. The Fund's current position is 2.6%."

Conventum – Alluvium Global Fund stated the following regarding Copart, Inc. (NASDAQ:CPRT) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Once again, the most significant and interesting news for investors is a new position we initiated. On this occasion, it is Copart, Inc. (NASDAQ:CPRT, the car wrecker turned auction platform (down 15.1% over the quarter). Copart has grown from a small single auto salvage yard in Vallejo, California in 1982 to a car auction technology platform selling over 4 million cars per year, predominantly on behalf of large insurance companies. We were alerted to this business by our quantitative screen - where it appeared a compelling opportunity (ten year sales growth of 17.4% and 19.1% profit growth, negligible debt, and mid 30's returns on invested capital), so we explored the business in greater depth. Our synopsis: It is a top notch business operating in a duopoly, but with little scope for domestic growth significant enough to move the needle. Most of Copart's revenue stems from its services to insurance companies for selling their vehicles which they classify to be "total losses". So, when it comes to ***** ysing the long term viability of its business, we think there are two key considerations. There is the likely growth rate of automobile accidents. We expect this to gradually decline as a result of increased adoption of autonomous driving, which is known to have lower crash rates than human-driven vehicles. Then there is the proportion of future collisions that are likely to result in cars being classified as "total losses". We expect this will continue its long term upward trend (driven by increased technology and high repair cos

Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) and Valneva SE (NASDAQ:VALN) reported on August 14 that the European Medicines Agency has validated the Marketing Authorization Application for PF-07307405, the companies' experimental Lyme disease vaccine candidate, and will now begin the official review.
For a vaccine candidate first proposed in a 2020 collaboration deal between Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) and French biotech Valneva SE (NASDAQ:VALN), this represents the formal transition from years of clinical development into European regulatory review.
The application is based on the Phase 3 VALOR trial, a placebo-controlled, randomized study of 9,437 participants aged five and older from high-incidence Lyme disease locations in US, Canada, and Europe. Participants got four doses on a phased schedule: one at months 0, 2, and 5-9, followed by a fourth dosage around a year later, shortly before the start of the next Lyme season. Topline data released in March 2026 demonstrated efficacy of over 70% in reducing confirmed Lyme disease cases, with the vaccine generally tolerated and no safety issues detected. However, the statistical picture was less clean than the headline efficacy suggests. The first prespecified **** ysis, which served as the primary endpoint, showed 73.2% efficacy but failed the trial's predefined statistical criterion because the lower bound of the 95% confidence interval was 15.8%, below the required 20%. A second prespecified **** ysis showed 74.8% efficacy and did meet that threshold.
Valneva SE (NASDAQ:VALN), the smallest of the two partners, views the vaccine as a clean competitive setup. According to the company, PF-07307405 is the most advanced Lyme disease vaccine candidate currently in clinical development, a rare spot in the vaccine industry where new entrants often face competition from existing treatments. Under the terms of the 2020 partnership and license agreement, Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) will have exclusive rights to produce and commercialize the vaccine if it is approved, while Valneva SE (NASDAQ:VALN) will benefit as a development partner.
The institutional stance is very different between the two companies, reflecting their very different sizes. Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) is still a strong name in the institutional **** e, with hedge fund ownership stable at 83 funds in the second quarter of 2026, the same as the first quarter, reflecting its position as a large, diversified pharmaceutical holding, rather than a name driven by a specific pipeline event. Valneva SE (NASDAQ:VALN), however, has little hedge fund exposure, with only 4 funds holding a position in the second quarter, up from 1 in the first quarter, reflecting the continued lack of visibility of the smaller partner among institutional investors.

"Consumer staples underperformed during the quarter. Elevated inflation, high interest rates and rising gas prices contributed to lower consumer spending, impacting companies like The Kroger Co. While he was President of Walmart US from 2014-2019, the company achieved 20 consecutive quarters of same-store sales growth and scaled its online grocery pickup. Since joining Kroger he has aggressively reduced prices and boosted the growth in private label and organic offerings. Fidelity Dividend Growth Fund stated the following regarding Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"On the other hand, security selection in industrials and materials meaningfully detracted for the quarter, along with a large overweight in the lagging energy sector. The five largest relative detractors were all strong-performing benchmark components in the technology sector that the fund didn't own during the quarter. For example, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) (+186%) was the largest relative detractor for the period. AMD competes in many markets with Nvidia, which we preferred and has outperformed AMD in many recent quarters. Also, AMD pays no dividend, whereas Nvidia does. The past three months, though, AMD had by far the better return, aided by better-than-expected earnings for Q1 that were driven by accelerating demand for AI infrastructure."

The Broyhill Equity Composite gained 8.8% in Q2, trailing the MSCI All Country World Index's 15.1% and the MSCI ACWI Value Index's 10.8%. For the first half, the Composite returned 2.3%, versus 11.5% for the Index. The letter highlights that a significant portion of the shortfall occurred in April due to market dynamics and geopolitical events, with tech, particularly semiconductors, driving recent gains. Broyhill notes its lack of direct semiconductor exposure but acknowledges potential interest in the sector if opportunities arise, maintaining its investment philosophy focused on capital protection in fragile market conditions. Broyhill **** et Management stated the following regarding First Citizens BancShares, Inc. (NASDAQ:FCNCA) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"First Citizens BancShares, Inc. (NASDAQ:FCNCA), initiated in June, is a well-run company which we believe to be undervalued and with catalysts on the horizon. The company has retired almost 20% of its Class A shares since July 2024, and inside its roughly $25 billion market capitalization sits a rail leasing fleet of approximately 128,000 cars valued by the market at bank multiples. Management has proven themselves highly competent and highly aligned with shareholders, with the Holding family in key executive positions, owning over 20% of the economics and controlling roughly half the vote through their Class B shares. Much of what we are waiting on has a date attached to it: two separations have completed, and Masco and First Citizens are retiring shares at a pace that improves per-share value whether or not the multiples change."

Novo Nordisk A/S (NYSE:NVO)'s decision to rebrand its day-to-day identity as "Novo" and launch a cultural reset is primarily a strategic response to the company's loss of momentum in the obesity-drug market, rather than a financial restructuring in itself. Reuters reports that the company is trying to regain competitiveness as pressure from Eli Lilly intensifies. The move comes as Novo prepares to unveil new strategic ambitions at its September 21 Capital Markets Day, making the cultural reset potentially important if it leads to faster decision-making, stronger commercial execution and a more aggressive R&D approach.
The underlying business still has substantial scale to protect. Novo generated DKK 309.1 billion of 2025 sales and DKK 127.7 billion of operating profit, while obesity-care sales rose 31% at constant exchange rates to DKK 82.3 billion. However, the company also spent around DKK 8 billion on its transformation in 2025, and its diabetes value-market share fell 3.6 percentage points to 30.1%. The reset therefore comes at a critical point: Novo remains the global obesity-market leader, with a 59.6% branded-volume share in 2025, but Lilly is rapidly narrowing the competitive gap.
A successful cultural reset could improve Novo Nordisk A/S (NYSE:NVO)'s execution at a time when the company needs to convert its scientific and commercial ******* ets into faster growth. Reuters reported that CEO Mike Doustdar is already seeking to accelerate R&D and streamline decision-making following investor concerns about the pipeline and competition from Lilly. If the reorganization reduces internal bureaucracy and improves the speed of clinical, regulatory and commercial decisions, it could help Novo extract more value from its existing obesity portfolio while advancing next-generation treatments before the semaglutide patent cliff expected early next decade.
The company also has ******* ets that give a cultural and operational reset something concrete to build around. Wegovy was available in 52 countries by the end of 2025, while the company's higher-dose Wegovy achieved 20.7% weight loss in Phase 3 studies and its oral Wegovy achieved 16.6% weight loss. More recently, Wegovy received approval in China for MASH, expanding its potential beyond weight management and cardiovascular benefits into another large metabolic-disease market. If Novo Nordisk A/S (NYSE:NVO) can combine these products with better execution, the reset could support higher patient volumes and extend the commercial life of its GLP-1 franchise, helping defend revenue and cash flow despite pricing pressure.

A company that specializes in autonomous power deployment said it has raised $31.8 million to scale its operations, with investments from major groups including Google and Bill Gates-founded Breakthrough Energy Ventures (BEV). California-based Planted said the new capital expands its robotic fleet. The company said the funding also supports the launch of Sage, its next-generation robot, as demand outpaces the company's current capacity.Planted on September 15 said the funding round was led by Piva Capital and RA Capital Management Planetary Health, with participation from Gigascale Capital and Open AI-backer Khosla Ventures, along with Google and BEV. Gigascale Capital was founded by former Meta executive Mike Schroepfer."Globally, solar needs to be deployed about five times faster than it is today to hit the scale experts project we'll need by 2050, and the gap is growing as the industry confronts constraints involving supply chains, land, interconnection, and skilled labor," said Eric Brown, CEO of Planted. "The way to close that gap is to turn the construction of a power plant into a manufacturing problem: building robots and deployment systems, not just projects. We have robots in the field proving the model works today. This round is how we scale it."
Brown's group on Tuesday said a record 664 GW of solar photovoltaic power was installed worldwide last year, but noted terawatts of new generation capacity are needed to meet projected demand. The company said it combines planning software, high-density terrain-following solar arrays, storage, and field robotics into one system, which enables Planted to build on parcels of land that legacy trackers cannot use. The company said its system also delivers twice the energy per acre, resulting in smaller project footprints and a lower profile on the landscape.Planted said its array "is simplified, designed for automation, and defined in software," and thus can deliver new power generation capacity in months rather than years. Planted's most recent build, a 28-MW behind-the-meter project serving a neocloud data center, went from first call to power in 10 months, with field construction completed in under three months.Planted on Tuesday said the company's development model "is proven and bankable," and noted its projects carry independent engineering validation and project financing. The company completed Bowes Solar, an 11-MW project in Illinois for Cultivate Power, and will next build Aligned Climate Capital's Armoracia project on 16 acres, 10 fewer than the original design required. The denser redesign moved the project through local review after the initial layout was rejected, according to the company. Planted, which deployed more than 10 MW in 2025, is on track for 100 MW in 2026, a 10x jump in a single year, with a project pipeline of more than 20 GW.The company said Sage, the next-generation robot, will be deployed later this year.
