Feeling wealthy in retirement is often just that — a feeling. Having an active social life, a solid purpose and enough cash in the bank to never worry about monthly bills might be all you need to describe yourself as a "rich" retiree.
Feelings aside, what do the cold, hard numbers show? Most Americans agree you need at least $2.2 million (1) to be considered wealthy in America. But they might be surprised to see that you actually need considerably more than that to land in the top 10% of U.S. retirees.
Jeff Bezos backs a platform that lets anyone invest in rental homes for as little as $100 — 6 ways to build wealth like a landlord without actually being one
A single line on your car insurance policy could be inflating your premium by up to 30% — here's what to change

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump says Georgia GOP Senate candidate Mike Collins can call him whenever he wants to ask for help for his state. But if Georgia reelects Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff, Trump says it could be another story.
"There's a big difference between that and Pee-wee Herman calling," Trump said last week in Perry, Georgia, using his derisive nickname for Ossoff. The president acted out a hypothetical scenario at his rally where Ossoff called to ask for money for his state, with Trump responding, "I don't give a **** what he wants."
It's been a recurring theme at Trump's rallies this month: From North Carolina to Ohio to Kansas, the president has dangled the idea that his administration would be far less likely to help states where Democrats win in the upcoming midterm elections.
Trump has sandwiched the threats into rallies where he has announced goodies like new semiconductor investments, a submarine repair center and fewer limits on a certain type of diesel, underscoring to the audience the types of tangibles an all-Republican Washington could continue to deliver for voters should his party remain in power after November.
But the president's utterances — part of a larger political strategy that's anchored on making the midterms about himself and activating conservative voters — have also injected politics into processes that have traditionally remained apolitical, such as doling out disaster aid and providing benefits for veterans.

The night Yaxel Lendeborg declared he'd "lost all respect" for Luka Dončić, agent Ron Shade and personal trainer Aaron Johnson were at the Warriors' season opener in Los Angeles and sprang into action. They went to talk with him.
Mentor Josh Lane followed up later that night. The former director of player relations at the University of Alabama Birmingham was momentarily concerned. Maybe he shouldn't have said that; it was his first NBA game, after all. So Lane texted Lendeborg something in the vein of: Man, what?
"We know when we can kinda talk him out of different things, and then we know there's certain things that he's just convicted on," Lane said. "That was one of those things he was just convicted on. Like, 'Man, I said what I said.'"
Those around Lendeborg have accepted that this is who he is, and to try to get him second-guessing himself would be the worst outcome. This is all part of the same package, an 18-year-old kid in a 24-year-old's body, as Lane put it. Lendeborg is driving through some of the best players in the world with abandon, and doing it with an awareness of his own faults that is endearing him to the rest of Golden State's locker room.
The honesty and the personality, though, mean he's taken the NBA by viral storm. He went after Dončić after Game 1 and defended his words later. Then, after dropping 31 points against the Nuggets in Golden State's first win Monday night, Lendeborg said he "would've cried" if the Warriors lost again. On Wednesday night in Minnesota, he pointed at himself for seven turnovers while also saying an aggressive Timberwolves team wasn't playing "real defense."

Pat McAfee has found himself in the centre of another media storm following his debacle surrounding his recent visit to the University of Utah.
The ESPN presenter has admitted his visit to Utah made him feel uncomfortable with both the university and its students providing him with a hostile atmosphere. In the days since, McAfee has used his platforms to call out his visit as his worst experience yet on College GameDay.
McAfee's comments following the visit have even seen some of his ESPN colleagues criticise him for the manner in which he has handled his frustrations. The public figure has a huge online following and he has used that to call out the University of Utah.
One ESPN colleague in particular has taken to her social media platform to hit back at McAfee suggesting that he needs to grow some thicker skin.
Earlier in the week, McAfee shared some of the direct messages he had been receiving since his visit to Utah Clearly, the messages he has received are not particularly nice but one of his ESPN colleagues has suggested that female sports reporters face worse.

In his surprise return to the ATP 500 event in Basel this year, Novak Djokovic could not quite produce the run he would have hoped for, as he fell to Jan-Lennard Struff in his second match of the tournament.
Although it was a tightly contested encounter, with all three sets reaching the 5-5 mark, Djokovic eventually lost after making some uncharacteristic errors in the final-set tiebreak, handing Struff his first-ever victory against him in their ninth meeting.
At this stage of his career, Djokovic is far removed from needing results at ATP 500 tournaments. However, he has consistently stated that, regardless of his age, he always plays to win. More importantly, this defeat has dented his hopes of achieving something he was particularly keen on when returning to Basel: securing his place at the ATP Finals in Turin in just over two weeks.
Djokovic entered Basel ranked 12th in the Race to Turin, an event for which only the top eight players qualify. This is a significant change from previous years, when the Serbian would typically have secured his qualification by this stage of the season, even if he subsequently chose not to participate, as he did in each of the past two years. The Serbian needed a deep run in Basel to strengthen his position and avoid having to rely entirely on the Paris Masters to secure qualification.
However, following this defeat, Djokovic will now have to do precisely that. Given the current landscape of the live rankings, he will need a deep run in Paris to put himself in a strong position to qualify. At the time of writing, Djokovic sits 11th in the Race to Turin, with Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz and Ben Shelton already having secured their places.

After the United States Grand Prix, Isack Hadjar was critical of Red Bull's execution, as was Max Verstappen. Both drivers were unhappy with the strategy and, on top of that, were hampered by two problems that have been troubling the Formula 1 team for a long time: technical issues with the team radio and problematic starts.
"I have poor radio, I don't even know what's happening. And whenever I drop the clutch, it's going into a nightmare," Hadjar said in the media pen on Sunday night. "If we fix these two issues, we might already be on the podium. It seems like we can do the hardest things, but we can't do the silly things."
When asked about those comments during the media day in Mexico, Hadjar acknowledged that he is perfectly entitled to speak his mind about the team – which is, after all, exactly what Red Bull wants: drivers with character and opinions of their own – but that he perhaps could have worded certain things a little differently.
"I didn't really think," he said. "We need to be honest with ourselves as well, but there's stuff that I should have kept for myself. I know that."
Since then, Red Bull has **** ysed the race weekend in Texas in detail which revealed that the strategy could indeed have been better, something Hadjar explained further in Mexico.

Frequent board commenter Solanus tracks an enormous amount of pitcher and catcher data, tabulating each game result by hand. Last year, he gave me enough insight into his spreadsheets where I was able to re-create much of the data he hand tabulates (I'm way too lazy for that!) and I wanted to peak at some of those data points and see what we could learn about the defensive side of their catching corps.
The data itself comes from a mix of sources. Statcast data for actual line-ups and game events (who pitched, who caught, which innings, etc.). Baseball reference.com for overall pitching lines for each game, and with Fangraphs because of course there has to be differences in how the data is constructed that doesn't make it easy. Team ids between sites are different. Player Ids are different. Even game Ids are different, and all three have to be brewed together to knit the data into one consistent result.
I wrote the code. The methods are all Solanus. I simply copied his logic into R code and ran it. So he gets all the credit.
I chose to query both the 2025 and 2026 seasons (you will likely understand why when I go through it). Here is the raw data, and following that some of the interesting morsels I discovered and thought about some.

Former Texas A&M football players delivered several notable performances in Week 7 of the NFL season, including a breakout game from Cleveland Browns rookie wide receiver KC Concepcion and a career milestone for Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Cashius Howell.
Concepcion recorded career highs with eight receptions for 129 yards in Cleveland's 27-24 victory over the Tennessee **** ans. He also added 23 rushing yards on three carries, for 152 total yards from scrimmage. His performance earned him a nomination for the NFL's Rookie of the Week award.
The former Aggie became the first Browns rookie wide receiver since 2016 to surpass 100 receiving yards in a game. His 129 yards also ranked eighth in franchise history for a rookie in a single game. Over seven games, Concepcion has caught 30 passes for 315 yards, establishing himself as an emerging weapon in Cleveland's offense.
Howell also had a memorable afternoon in Cincinnati's 35-13 win over the Baltimore Ravens. The rookie defensive end recorded his first career NFL sack, bringing down quarterback Tyler Huntley for a four-yard loss on Baltimore's opening second-half drive.
The play helped force a punt as Cincinnati rallied from a 13-0 halftime deficit and scored 35 unanswered points to win. Howell, a second-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft, recorded 11.5 sacks in his final season at Texas A&M before moving to the professional level.

Panthers' Dave Canales admits Bryce Young's knee injury is affecting him after Packers loss appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Bryce Young didn't look like himself in Week 8. His knee injury is the biggest reason why. It may be taking away one of the most important weapons in his game. Even Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales is no longer hiding that concern. Following Thursday night's 27-19 road loss to the Green Bay Packers, Canales acknowledged that Young's mobility has been affected by the lingering issue. This has raised questions about Young's ability to extend plays as Carolina enters a crucial stretch of its season.

Arsenal are preparing to launch negotiations over an extended deal for first-choice goalkeeper David Raya despite the Spaniard recently admitting he would like to play in his homeland one day. Meanwhile, neither Barcelona nor Real Madrid are expected to make an imminent move for the 31-year-old shot-stopper in upcoming transfer windows.
According to Football Insider, the north London hierarchy want to tie their Spanish custodian down beyond his current 2028 expiration date to fend off any future interest from La Liga. Speculation linking him with Spain's two biggest clubs emerged after he told Spanish media last week that he hopes to play in his native top flight eventually. However, the goalkeeper insisted in the same interview that he remains content at the Emirates Stadium.
Having silenced initial sceptics following his move from Brentford to establish himself as the Premier League's standout goalkeeper in recent seasons, Raya registered his fifth clean sheet in eight top-flight outings against Everton last weekend before narrowly losing out on Monday's Yashin Trophy to international team-mate Unai Simon.
Explaining why a switch to Spain is unlikely soon on the Transfer Insider podcast, journalist Pete O'Rourke said: "If he were to leave ******* nal, there's no immediate opening for one of the big boys in Spain right now as well. Barcelona have got Joan Garcia, and it looks like Courtois is going to sign a new contract at Real Madrid as well, so I don't see any opening for David Raya right now.
"The player is happy at ******* nal, and obviously ******* nal are very happy with him, so I think any potential move back to his native Spain will be probably on the back burner for a while just yet."

All eyes will be on Gianluigi Donnarumma in net for Manchester City on Saturday.
On Wednesday night, City hosted Brighton with a spot in the Carabao Cup quarter-final on the line.
Despite the hosts starting on the front foot, Brighton took the lead just half an hour in through Malick Junior Yalcouye. The Malian winger found himself unmarked on the edge of the six yard box, played marginally onside by Ayyoub Bouaddi, from there a tap-in left the hosts trailing.
The opener spurred Maresca's side into action though, and just ten minutes later they were back level. Phil Foden found Mateo Kovacic just outside the area, and the Croatian international made no mistake with a wonderfully placed side-footed finish.
After the break it didn't take long for the visitors to take the lead once again. Georginio Rutter got himself goal-side of Mateo Kovacic and slotted home to the left of Geronimo Rulli, leaving Manchester City with all the work to do.

The Chargers returned from their Week 7 bye with offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel addressing the media Thursday, giving a look at the work to get the offense on track ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Rams.
McDaniel did extensive film work with quarterback Justin Herbert. He said they watched "probably 4 hours" of tape together and called it "a very healthy experience." He stressed their strong relationship and a constructive approach to the struggles.
"There's a healthy way to be accountable, so you're not misdirecting blame to yourself when things aren't working," McDaniel said.
The Chargers remain the NFL's only winless team at 0-6, with the offense ranking last in points per game (15.0) after a season-low six points in the Week 6 loss to the Chiefs. Harbaugh confirmed Wednesday that McDaniel would keep the call sheet, stating, "We're very confident in Mike and his talent, his work ethic and his ability. We continue to be."
Herbert also recently backed his coordinator. On Wednesday, he said the issues are "not his fault, it's our fault as an offense," adding that "the guys are open" and "plays are being made," while stressing the need for better execution.

Watch: 'I made the wrong decision,' Hyrox athlete Joanna Wietrzyk tells BBC
An Australian athlete has admitted putting others at risk by continuing to race after soiling herself during an endurance sports event.
Speaking exclusively to the BBC ahead of her return to the sport, Joanna Wietrzyk suggested her determination to win the Hyrox race in Beijing in September had clouded her judgement: "It was my decision to continue racing so I take full responsibility for that."
Challenged over why she carried on, she said: "I didn't really think about those around me… the decision that I made in hindsight was the wrong decision and I'm truly sorry for everyone that I did affect."
The 24-year-old said that the experience and subsequent backlash was "traumatic". She also said she had considered walking away from the sport, in which she holds a world record.

UW and Nebraska face off in Lincoln this weekend for the first time as conference foes. The long and storied history between the two teams stretches exactly 101 years and two weeks to the day between the very first match up in 1925 and this Saturday's game. That shared history primarily revolves around the four games played during the 1990s when both programs were at their peak. The 1991 game featured a furious second half comeback in Lincoln that built the momentum towards UW's eventual national championship. The Cornhuskers' return trip to Seattle in 1992 set the stage for the loudest recorded home crowd in college football history. Five years later, Nebraska returned to Montlake to get their revenge for the previous two games while on their way to their own national championship in 1997 in Tom Osborne's final season.
For these two programs, the current stakes of this weekend's game are much lower, although not entirely without significance. Both Washington and Nebraska enter Saturday night's matchup at a crossroads in their seasons. Nebraska sits at 5-2 overall and 2-2 in Big Ten play, but the Cornhuskers are coming off consecutive close losses to Indiana and Oregon. Despite those defeats, Matt Rhule's team has established itself as one of the league's most physical and statistically dominant defenses, keeping every game within reach through disciplined play, strong linebacker action, and excellent situational defense.
Washington, meanwhile, is 4-3 overall and 1-3 in conference play. The Huskies snapped a three-game losing streak with a 38-26 victory over Purdue before their bye week and arrive in Lincoln needing momentum to salvage their Big Ten campaign. Jedd Fisch's offense remains heavily dependent on its passing attack, ranking among the conference's better aerial units, but questions at quarterback and a struggling rushing offense persist.
Over Matt Rhule's four years at Nebraska, the Cornhuskers have embraced a physical and gritty, defensive-oriented identity as a program. Under first-year defensive coordinator, Rob Aurich, Nebraska has maintained the aggressive, fundamentally sound identity Nebraska built under Rhule. The Cornhuskers rank 14th nationally in scoring defense, 9th in total defense, and are holding opponents to just 171 passing yards and 99 rushing yards per game on average. Their suffocating rushing defense on early downs often position them in 3rd & long passing situations where they pressure packages and blanketing secondary can create plays. This formula is what has allowed Nebraska to lead the FBS in defensive 3rd down conversion percentage at just 19%. To put that statistic into perspective, Nebraska's defense has allowed just eight third down conversions in their four Big Ten conference games this season, including games with just one allowed against Maryland and Indiana.
Nebraska typically operates from a multiple-front structure, mixing even-front and odd-front looks while emphasizing gap discipline and disgui

Things started out well tonight at Lambeau Field for the Carolina Panthers, who forced a fumble on the game's opening kickoff. They only got three points out of it, though—and it was mostly downhill from there.
In the end, they lost to the Green Bay Packers by a score of 27-19, which makes it sound much closer than it actually was. So, who had the greatest hands in the defeat?
Here are your studs and duds from a spooky-bad Thursday night loss . . .
Amazon opened their broadcast with Blue Oyster Cult's 1976 hit "Don't Fear the Reaper," and the Packers defense certainly didn't have to. For the second straight week, Young went to pieces under pressure, looking nothing like the confident and decisive quarterback he was early this season in the same situations.
Young responded poorly to the rush, running himself into sacks and releasing the ball at bad angles. He led one strong scoring drive in the fourth quarter—but it was too little, too late.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young isn't playing at 100 percent. But that, based off the reactions from head coach Dave Canales and Young himself, doesn't seem to be too great of a concern—at least for now.
Young's knee issue, which he sustained back in the Week 3 loss to the Cleveland Browns, has kept his name on the injury report for the last handful of games. The effects of that problem seemed most obvious on Thursday night, throughout the Panthers' 27-19 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
With his offensive line failing to keep the pocket clean time and time again, Young—as he usually would—opted not to use his legs to extend plays. He was pressured on a career-high 22 dropbacks, and attempted zero scrambles.
Canales was asked if he thinks Young has been hampered by the injury.
"Maybe," he replied. "I would say that he certainly doesn't look like he's got that quick make-you-miss kind of deal. But he was able to create some **** e for himself.

When Jocelin Ta-Bi arrived at Sunderland during the January 2026 transfer window, he arrived amid a fanfare involving rival clubs and the political allegiances of his parent side, Maccabi Netanya, and their ties to current world events. Celtic had reportedly agreed a fee for the young Ivory Coast winger on the recommendation of Martin O'Neill, only to see the club stall over supposed issues with his medical, alongside fan backlash over the recipient of the transfer funds.
Sunderland, knowing they could afford to give Ta-Bi time to recover from his injury without the need for an immediate impact, swooped in at the eleventh hour to secure Jocelin on a four-and-a-half-year deal, labelling him as a true 'one for the future'. A reported fee of £3.5m (€4.0m) was paid for the youngster in what felt like Sunderland's first real draft-and-stash signing of the Premier League era – players who may feature very little in the first team but could potentially go on to turn the club a profit down the line, supporting their sustainable business model.
Fast forward to November 2026 and, after several loan moves away broke down and a work permit was denied for Sunderland's pre-season tour, Jocelin Ta-Bi has found himself on the lips of many football pundits after putting in an eye-watering display in Sunderland's Carabao Cup fourth-round tie against Brentford.
So the question we're all asking is: what did the club see in Jocelin back in January, and why does he have such a unique skill set that made us move so early for him?

Steve Kerr's refusal to mortgage the Warriors' future for Stephen Curry sparked a firestorm, and DeMarcus Cousins had the sharpest rebuttal yet. Kerr's defense of the franchise's future-first approach collided with an uncomfortable reality: Curry had just dropped 44 points to beat Minnesota, proving his championship window remains wide open.
Appearing at Gil's Arena, DeMarcus Cousins argued with Gilbert Arenas over Kerr's remarks, passionately arguing that if the Warriors are unwilling to push all their chips to the center of the table while Curry is still performing at a superstar level, the team owes it to the franchise icon to trade him to a legitimate contender. His argument hinged on the logical contradiction that the Warriors cannot simultaneously claim that Curry has a championship window and refuse to invest in it.
"So why would you mention championship window with Steph if you're not willing?" Cousins, a former Warriors player himself, challenged.
When Arenas countered that Steph Curry is 38 and no longer the foundational piece to build a five-year plan around, Boogie shut down the notion.
The tension between championship windows and roster construction just reached a boiling point. Subscribe to stay on top of the NBA's biggest debates and power player clashes.

In five games played since he emerged from a two-year retirement, Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald has yet to record a sack. During his weekly press conference on Thursday, Donald was asked whether that bothers him.
"No. I didn't come back for individual stats," Donald told reporters. "I would love to have some stats, but I'm here to just play the game. When the plays present themselves, take advantage of it, try to get my plays, but my main focus is trying to find ways to help this team win. That's the goal. I didn't come back to try to earn individual accolades or anything. I did that, accomplished that. It doesn't excite me. The only thing that excites me is winning so I'm just playing a football game, trying to do what I can to help this team. As long as we win, I can build off everything else and get myself better off that."
The Rams have won only three of seven games, and Donald has yet to play with Myles Garrett. Even though it was the trade that brought Garrett to the Rams that lit the fuse to get Donald to return.
Against the Raiders in Week 7, Donald was on the field for 74 percent of the Rams' defensive snaps. It was his highest rate of the season, and the more he's on the field, the more likely he'll be to get some of those stats he'd love to have — even if winning continues to be the focus.
The Rams should get their fourth win of the season on Sunday, against the 0-6 Chargers. If they don't, the Rams will be 3-5 through eight games and dangerously close to having too many losses to play beyond Week 18.

Jake Garcia experienced a disappointing ending to Friday's Love's RV Stop 225 at Talladega Superspeedway, finishing 26th after being involved in a major accident during the final stage. The ThorSport Racing driver started 11th and led three laps before his afternoon ended prematurely.
Garcia initially showed competitive speed, remaining among the leading trucks as drivers battled through multiple drafting lanes. His No. 98 Ford eventually moved into the lead for three laps, providing an opportunity to establish himself among the contenders.
However, maintaining track position proved difficult as competitors changed drafting lanes and employed different pit strategies. Garcia remained in competition through the opening stages but encountered serious trouble on Lap 57.
An accident sent his Ford hard into the outside wall, triggering a caution and collecting multiple competitors, including Chandler Smith and Conner Jones. The damage prevented Garcia from continuing, ending his afternoon after 56 completed laps. He ultimately finished 26th and earned 11 points.
Garcia remains 11th in the overall NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series standings with 559 points, the highest-ranked driver who missed the championship Chase. With Martinsville and Homestead-Miami remaining, Garcia will attempt to preserve that position and finish his season strongly.

DOVER — Senior Jules Stowell said the St. Thomas Aquinas volleyball team has talked all season about its mentality and ability to respond after digging themselves a hole.
They had to put that mentality to use Thursday night.
Fourth-seeded St. Thomas fell behind 7-2 in the opening set and later found itself tied at 20 before closing strong. The Saints carried that momentum through the next two sets to earn a 3-0 sweep of No. 13 Prospect Mountain in a Division III preliminary-round match.
St. Thomas (14-3) will host No. 5 Trinity (14-3) in a Division III quarterfinal Saturday at 6 p.m. Trinity advanced with a 3-0 win over No. 12 Sunapee.
"We came out struggling a little bit, but we definitely fought back," St. Thomas freshman Hadley DeStefano said. "I mean, in the playoffs, teams come to fight and teams come to win. So, no matter who the team is, we know they're going to come fight as hard as they can and I think just as a team, it's really symbolic that we fought back."

Timberwolves' Rudy Gobert speaks up on his reluctance to throw it down appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
After Minnesota Timberwolves coach Chris Finch called out Rudy Gobert for his finesse plays during a combined 0-for-13 stretch, the starting center questioned his finishes as well. Amid a two-game skid, the Timberwolves lost Anthony Edwards to a knee injury that will keep him out for at least two months. As Minnesota will look to find success without their All-Star forward, many anticipate Gobert to step up offensively.
Instead, he finished with one point, four rebounds, and one steal in the Timberwolves' 119-114 loss to the Golden State Warriors. In addressing Finch's recent comments about finishing loud in the paint, Gobert agreed with the notion of dunking the ball more often, per Sports Illustrated Andrew Dukowitz.
"Sometimes I tell myself, 'Why didn't I dunk that, too?' I guess it depends," Gobert said. "I guess, most importantly, is to react, to be decisive. To be strong and to be decisive. If I'm going to dunk it, go dunk it. If they foul me and call it, it is how it is. But I gotta be more decisive and more balanced, more poised."

Yamaha has locked in its Moto2 line-up for 2027, signing Moto3 standout Álvaro Carpe to join the returning Alberto Ferrández on the BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2 Team. Both riders are 19 and represent Yamaha's ongoing push to funnel young talent up through the categories via its BLU CRU project.
Ferrandez is currently in his first full Moto2 season, partnering with Izan Guevara with the Pramac Yamaha team. Facing a new category and several circuits he'd never seen before, his rookie year presented a steep learning curve, with Ferrández currently sitting 21st overall. For his second season, Yamaha expects him to take a big step forward, with Team Director Gino Borsoi setting a clear benchmark for Ferrandez to "establish himself consistently inside the top ten from the beginning of the championship."
Carpe arrives from Moto3, where he spent the past two seasons with the Red Bull KTM Ajo team. Carpe finished fourth overall as a rookie in 2025, and finds himself in the same position this season. The team is tempering expectations for his first year in the intermediate category, with Borsoi hoping to see him "start translating his potential into encouraging results from the middle of the season onwards."
Carpe will be taking over the seat currently occupied by Izan Guevara, who currently sits second in the Moto2 standings, trailing Manuel González by just 5.5 points, with five rounds remaining. Guevara is set to move up to Pramac Yamaha's MotoGP team in 2027. Guevara sets an example for Carpe's and Ferrández's path, progressing each year from a 22nd place finish in 2023 to fighting for the **** le this season.

Landen Lewis produced one of the strongest recovery performances in Friday's Love's RV Stop 225 at Talladega Superspeedway, finishing sixth after starting 30th. The Niece Motorsports driver overcame a difficult qualifying effort and advanced 24 positions during the chaotic 86-lap event.
Lewis initially faced the challenge of working through a competitive field while navigating the changing drafting lanes. However, his No. 45 Chevrolet demonstrated impressive speed during the middle stages, allowing him to move toward the front. Lewis finished sixth in Stage 2, earning five additional points while establishing himself among the contenders.
He continued running competitively during the final stage, briefly leading the outside drafting lane as Tanner Gray challenged from the inside. The race's changing circumstances provided opportunities to gain positions, and Lewis avoided the accidents that eliminated several other drivers.
When the event entered overtime, Lewis remained among the leading competitors and positioned himself to capitalize on the final-lap battle. He ultimately finished sixth, just 0.272 seconds behind winner Sammy Smith. The result earned Lewis 36 points and marked another impressive performance during his part-time Truck Series campaign.
His ability to advance from 30th to sixth demonstrated the strength of his Chevrolet and his ability to compete in superspeedway racing.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a true star in the making on offense, none other than third-year center Zach Frazier, and he's not afraid to acknowledge how great he's playing this season.
Speaking with reporters ahead of the Week 8 matchup against the Cleveland Browns, Frazier said what fans were already thinking about his level of play in 2026: it's the best season he's had so far.
"I feel like, so far, this is the best season I've played," Frazier said via Chris Harlan of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "I don't really focus on myself. I just want to keep building on it and just keep being consistent for the team."
Frazier, drafted by the Steelers in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, has emerged as one of the top centers in the league thanks to his consistency in pass protection and stellar run-blocking technique.
Over the past seven games, Frazier has allowed 0 sacks and 1 QB hit while also recording a solid PFF run-blocking grade of 78.9, which is the second-best among all eligible centers.

SAN FRANCISCO — Hundreds of Golden State Valkyries fans packed Rikki's Women's Sports Bar in southwest San Francisco on Thursday morning.
They came for a party.
Over 2,000 miles away, their Valkyries tipped off against the Atlanta Dream in a potential championship-clinching Game 6 at 12:30 p.m. local time — or 9:30 a.m. in the Bay Area.
With a trophy on the line for the 2-year-old franchise, fans arrived as early as 7 a.m. Staff reported 30 minutes later, and the bar opened at 8:30 a.m. Some asked bosses to move shifts, requested PTO, or called in sick. One fan declined an on-camera interview, admitting they didn't want their manager to find out why they skipped work.
There was community, cheers, chants … and breakfast. Purple and black Valkyries shirts, jerseys, and hoodies filled the room. An oddly purple-colored white rum drink made the rounds, while cheers ricocheted off the purple-painted walls of the mid-sized bar that calls itself "Mini Ballhalla."

Why Padres must find way to re-sign Michael King after declining player option appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The San Diego Padres cannot afford to let Michael King walk in free agency. After declining his player option, the right-hander is preparing to test his value on the open market following another strong season. While that decision makes sense for King, the Padres must make every effort to bring him back.
King has become one of the most important players in San Diego since arriving in the Juan Soto trade. Over three seasons with the organization, he has established himself as one of the National League's top right-handed starters while becoming a fan favorite through his postseason performances.
The Padres have plenty of reasons to prioritize a reunion. More importantly, their current rotation outlook makes keeping King even more urgent.

This really shouldn't be that surprising. The Tigers have one of the better core groups in baseball now, and while their rotation has question marks due to injury and inexperience, it's certainly a pretty talented group with Framber Valdez as the veteran, and Jackson Jobe, Troy Melton, Keider Montero, River Ryan, and Reese Olson lined up behind the veteran lefty. Obviously they need to build a much better bullpen, but this shouldn't really be that hard. We'll see how hard the front office decides to make it.
The Tigers were 14th in run scoring, and 11th in team wRC+ in 2026, despite getting gutted for a good six weeks by a huge wave of injuries from mid-April through May. Max Clark has only just arrived, while Hao-Yu Lee and Eduardo Valencia broke out with the bats in the second half. They still have plenty of young hitting talent coming behind them as well. They were also 6th best in team ERA and 10th best in team fielding independent pitching (FIP). The defense got better as Clark and other young outfielders were added to the mix. It would really help that cause if John Peck can insert himself into the mix next year.
