Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade president Zeljko Drcelic also confirmed that Crvena Zvezda discussed a potential move with Nikola Vucevic this summer. The veteran center is a known supporter of the Serbian club but ultimately decided to continue his NBA career. "There were conversations," Drcelic revealed. "First of all, Nikola is an excellent person, but he is also a great Zvezda supporter. "That does not mean he will automatically become a Crvena Zvezda player."

Uros Medic ensured Saturday will be a night Serbian MMA won't soon forget.
On an evening where the UFC established new records for the most total finishes (12) and first-round finishes (10) on a single event, Serbia's Medic ended the festivities with the finest performance of his UFC career, knocking out Daniel Rodriguez in just 30 seconds to set off a raucous party inside the Belgrade Arena in Belgrade, Serbia.
Medic (14-3) caught Rodriguez clean with a wicked left hand in the opening seconds, then downed the welterweight veteran with a follow-up combination and sealed the deal with a vicious salvo of strikes. Almost immediately after, the emotions poured out of Medic, 33, who is now tied for most first-round knockouts in UFC welterweight history (5).
"I just want to cry, man. I just want to cry," Medic said post-fight. "I missed home so much. Nine years, it's a long time. I left as a student, I was 22 years old with a dream, and look where it got me.
"I have so many words, I don't think we enough time tonight. With that being said, I'm going to cook the rest of this division. With you guys by my side, we're going to bring the belt to Serbia."

Uros Medic vs. Daniel Rodriguez squared off in a Welterweight bout earlier tonight (Sat., Aug. 1, 2026) inside Belgrade Arena in Belgrade, Serbia for UFC Belgrade.
It didn't last long.
Both men landed hard low kicks to start the contest. Then, Rodriguez tried to step forward with a jab and walked into a hard overhand left. "D-Rod" was shaken, and his high guard did little to prevent the impact of Medic's followup shots. He blasted right through Rodriguez's defenses, sending the veteran to the canvas in a heap. A few hammering punches sealed the deal, awarding Medic another knockout win in less than a minute.
The crowd went crazy! The whole arena was chanting his name, and somebody in the audience lit a flair. After a difficult night for Serbian MMA fighters, Medic came through in the best way possible to claim arguably his biggest scalp yet.
It's time for a Top 10 opponent.

Aleksandar Rakic got his first win in more than five years at UFC Fight Night 283, and did so as a heavyweight for the first time.
Rakic (14-6 MMA, 6-5 UFC) made a successful transition up from 205 pounds on Saturday when he outworked divisional veteran Marcin Tybura (27-12 MMA, 14-11 UFC) en route to a unanimous decision win by scores of 30-27, 30-27 and 30-27 at Belgrade Arena in Serbia.
After Serbian fighters went 0-3 to start the main card, Rakic put his home country on the win column with a methodical striking performance.
Rakic, 34, came out throwing high volume against Tybura, who stayed and fought from inside the pocket. Rakic slowed down a bit as the contest wore on, but remained focused and stayed out of danger while delivering damage on his Polish foes legs and head.
The result brought an end to a four-fight losing skid for Rakic and marked his first time getting his hand raised since March 2021. Tybura, meanwhile, has dropped his past three.

Ajax are through to the next round of the Conference League after a demolition job on Serbian side Vojvodina. They will be joined in the next round of the competition by FC Twente, who ended up losing out in the Europa League to Hungarian side Ferencvaros. Despite the hosts being down to 10 men, FC Twente were unable to capitalise and will now drop down a competition.
Things had been going badly for the Dutch side with Ferencvaros 2-0 up after 50 minutes. The Hungarian home side were already down to 10 men at this point after Belgian midfielder Philippe Rommens had been sent off in the first half. It took FC Twente until the final 10 minutes to put real pressure on, with goals from Wout Weghorts and Lucas Vennegoor of Hesselink. Yet these came too little too late for FC Twente to equalise on aggregate and they ended up losing 4-3 overall. Twente will now face Slovakian side DAC 1904 Dunajska Streda in the Conference League.
Ajax had no problem in their second leg against Vojvodina. The Amsterdam side won 4-1 on the night, 8-2 on aggregate thanks to a hat-trick from Oscar Gloukh. Ajax will now face Irish side Shelbourne who beat Estonian side Nomme Kalju over two legs.

According to the report, there have already been positive contacts between Juventus and Zirkzee's entourage.

Serie A side Milan have signed a possible replacement for Strahinja Pavlovic, with Troyes talent Sankhoun Diawara having arrived on a permanent deal.
Rangers had tried to sign the defender and were offering an attractive project that would've drafted him directly into the club first-team.
La Gazzetta dello Sport note that after a push, Milan have secured Diawara's services. Initially, they had played to have him as part of the Futuro side but the club's management have decided to make him a part of the first-team, as someone who will replace Pavlovic in the future.
The two players are very similar – left-footed and tall, while possessing a reliable ability on the ball. Milan want to see Diawara grow into the player the Serbian is, with the player expected to cost around €3 million.
For quite a while, it seemed like Rangers would seal the move. Milan's plan suggest a long-term plan which they also somewhat followed for Davide Bartesaghi and their academy graduates in recent years have done quite well. Diawara comes at a key point in his career and Ruben Amorim likes the profile of young defenders that can play on the left side of the back three. This will put him in good stead during his time at the Rossoneri.

After the UCLA Bruins added Nikola Kusturica earlier this week, it feels as if that the 2026-2027 roster is nearly complete. Kusturica brings a level of excitement to the program, adding a potential top pick in the 2028 NBA Draft.
It won't take long for Kusturica to earn playing time with the Bruins. UCLA is paying big bucks for the Serbian forward, with expectations being sky-high after an incredible showing at the FIBA U17 World Cup.
So how is the depth chart shaping up following the addition of Kusturica? Let's take a look.
We'll see what Azavier Robinson can do after he put up 6.1 points per game as a freshman with Butler. Trent Perry scored over 12 points per game as a sophomore with the Bruins with room to grow in a larger role this upcoming season.
Speaking of room to grow. Eric Freeny showed plenty of promise as a freshman last season. Freeny showed defensive ability and shot 37% from three, which is a recipe for a solid producer. Jaylen Petty comes to UCLA from Texas Tech, where he scored 9.9 points per game as a freshman.

Novak Djokovic continues his epic quest to win a record 25th grand slam **** le at the age of 39 as he faces defending Wimbledon champion and world No 1 Jannik Sinner in the semi-finals.
Djokovic won the longest match of his Wimbledon career on Tuesday, beating the third seed Felix Auger-Aliassime in a match tiebreak and after an astonishing five hours and 15 minutes.
Djokovic lost to Sinner in straight sets in last year’s semi-finals, before the Italian went on to beat Carlos Alcaraz and win his first Wimbledon trophy and fourth grand slam **** le.
But Djokovic beat Sinner in their last meeting at the Australian Open in January, producing one of the greatest performance of this stage of his career to end Sinner’s dominant winning streak in five sets.
Whether Djokovic can recover physically from his marathon efforts in the quarter-finals remains a huge question, but the Serbian may believe that this is his best chance to take the grand slam record.

Following reports that he was delaying signing a contract extension with the Denver Nuggets for another summer, Nikola Jokić weighed in on the topic Monday.
He still intends to eventually sign an extension with the Nuggets. And he plans to finish his career with the franchise that he led to its first and only NBA championship.
That's per Jokić, who was asked about the subject after leading his native Serbia to a win over Bosnia and Herzegovina in a World Cup qualifier Monday.
"My idea is to sign next summer and stay with Denver for the rest of my career," Jokić said, via translation from Serbian.
Here's the rest of the quote, per translation by the Nuggets provided to The Athletic.

While it’s still not official, it’s looking more and more likely that the UCLA Bruins will land Serbian forward Nikola Kusturica. Kusturica faced Team USA in Sunday’s FIBA U17 World Cup championship game.
Kusturica lived up to the hype, scoring 37 points, grabbing nine rebounds and two ***** ists in Serbia’s 107-81 loss. Kusturica scored nearly half of Serbia’s points, the 6’8” forward got his shots up too, going 9-23 from the field, 2-11 from three and 17-22 from the free throw line.
The 22 free throw attempts are eye-catching but if Kusturica can get to the line consistently, it’ll raise his floor as an offensive player. For his efforts in the tournament, Kusturica was named to the FIBA U17 World Cup All-Star Five and earned the tournament’s Best Defensive Player award.
It was reported on Saturday that UCLA offered Kusturica a 2-year $12 million NIL deal that would keep Kusturica in Westwood until 2028 when he becomes NBA draft eligible. There’s been no commitment yet from Kusturica but that pricepoint is seeming justified after his showing in the U17 World Cup.
If Kusturica does end up on UCLA’s roster this fall, not only will he have the international experience, he’d have professional experience, with Kusturica playing in Spain with FC Barcelona on the club’s first team.

If a recent report from the Serbian outlet Mozzart Sport (as cited by The Daily Record) is believed to be true, Rangers are plotting a move for Vanja Dragojević. They have tabled an offer of around €4.5m for the Partizan Belgrade midfield ace, but his current employers, destined to lose him this summer, are holding out for a €5.5m fee along with a sell-on clause.
The 20-year-old Serbia international took his first steps in football at Altina Zemun before joining the esteemed ranks of Partizan. There, he impressed at various youth levels and was eventually loaned out to third-tier outfit Teleoptik for first-team experience.
However, Dragojević was recalled after a brief stint, as he was starting to be involved with the seniors sporadically. The 2025-26 season proved to be the turning point of his career, particularly after goalkeeper Aleksandar Jovanovic's departure. Israeli veteran Bibars Natcho was elected as the club skipper. But the Serb, their vice-captain and a starter, led the Steamrollers more often than the now-retired midfielder.

He cemented his place as a deep-lying playmaker, and Rangers, despite securing the services of Dan Neil already, are keen to have the youngster in their ranks as part of a squad reconstruction under new boss Derek McInnes. Novak Djokovic's quest toward his elusive 25th major championship continued on Sunday in the fourth round at Wimbledon. In the process, the 39-year-old Serbian etched his name into All England Club history.
With a 7-6(6), 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 victory over Russian qualifier Roman Safiullin, Djokovic surpassed Swiss legend Roger Federer for the most Wimbledon singles wins on the men's side to date. Djokovic has 106 and counting.
That said, he'll need 14 more victories at London's Grand Slam to match Martina Navratilova, a Czech-American who tops the women's list with 120 singles wins at the grass-court major.
Navratilova retired with nine Wimbledon ****** les. Federer clocked out with eight. Djokovic's been stuck at seven since 2022. But, after previously discussing the importance of preserving energy early in major tournaments, he made it through the first three rounds of this year's Wimbledon with relative ease.
None of those matches went to five sets. Thanks to Friday's record-breaking feat, he keeps on a collision course with world No. 1 and defending Wimbledon champion Jannik Sinner, who faces ****** an's Shintaro Mochizuki on Sunday. Djokovic fell in straight sets to the now-24-year-old Italian phenom in last year's semifinals.

Just how much are the UCLA Bruins looking at paying for a European teenager? Reports are surfacing that UCLA is preparing to make a two-year $12 million offer for Serbian forward Nikola Kusturica.
Some reports have stated that Kusturica is committing to UCLA, but that may be jumping the gun. Kusturica is currently playing for the Serbian U17 Team at the U17 FIBA World Cup, where he’s been a star, putting up 22 points per game.
Kusturica has NBA potential but isn't draft-eligible until after the 2027-2028 season, which makes the 6’8” 17-year old a very compelling recruit for the Bruins. Mick Cronin has built out this year’s UCLA roster with solid players, but there isn’t a clear star that could help elevate the Bruins offense.
If Kusturica does eventually sign officially with UCLA, he instantly becomes the most compelling storyline for next year’s team. Not only is Cronin and the Bruins program set to invest heavily into the young forward, he also has the potential that could transform the team’s expectations for the 2026-2027 season.
Kusturica is currently playing for FC Barcelona, becoming the youngest player to achieve several feats for Barcelona’s first team. When facing competition at his own age, Kusturica dominates. The lengthy forward has shown off all aspects of his game, including three-point shooting, active hands and that he’s a capable rebounder.

Defending champion Jannik Sinner produced another gritty victory to reach the Wimbledon third round, while women's world number one Aryna Sabalenka battled through as Novak Djokovic prepared for action on Centre Court.
Sinner wasn't at his best again but the world number one did just enough to beat Portugual's Nuno Borges 7-6 (7/4), 7-6 (7/2), 6-4 in Wednesday's second-round clash at the All England Club.
The 24-year-old Italian had narrowly avoided an embarrassing first-round exit when he fought back from two sets to one down to beat Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic on Monday.
Sinner was left bloodied against Kecmanovic by an awkward fall that injured his right foot.
The four-time Grand Slam champion did not appear impeded by that blow on his return to action in the second round, but he struggled to impose himself against the spirited world number 48.

Taylor Fritz next match at Wimbledon 2026: TV schedule, scores, results for tennis grand slam originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
No. 6-seeded Taylor Fritz returns to Wimbledon where he'll look to make another strong campaign.
After several deep runs at the All England Club in recent years, Fritz will again face an uphill battle to victory. With the official draw ceremony on Friday, the 28-year-old's first round matchup was decided — British lefty Jack Draper — but his withdrawal through injury means he'll now face Serbian Dusan Lajovic.
Fritz made his furthest Wimbledon campaign just last year, when he reached the semifinals and ultimately fell to Carlos Alcaraz. He also made quarterfinal runs in 2022 and 2024, though he will have little time to ease into the tournament this year with such a strong opponent in the first round.
Could Fritz continue his successes on the grass?

Barcelona have re-emerged as suitors for Dusan Vlahovic, in a development that could complicate Juventus’ summer planning.
According to Mundo Deportivo, via TuttoMercatoWeb, the Catalan club are hunting a new centre-forward for Hansi Flick’s squad and are keeping tabs on several high-profile names.
Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez remains the priority for sporting director Deco, but with no agreement reached for the Argentine, Vlahovic has resurfaced as an appealing Plan B.
The Serbian’s contract is set to expire within days, opening the door to a free transfer that would represent a far more economical solution for Barcelona than a deal for Alvarez.

BELGRADE, June 27 (Reuters) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Saturday he would resign within weeks and the country will hold early presidential and parliamentary elections, following 18 months of anti-government protests.
The announcement by Vucic, who has been in power as president or prime minister for 12 years, came amid persistent anti-corruption ‌demonstrations led by students and triggered by the collapse of an awning at a railway station in the northern city of Novi Sad in November 2024, in which ‌16 people died.
Protesters, opposition and rights groups allege the railway station disaster was a sign of broader government mismanagement of construction projects and corruption.
"I will be president for only a couple more weeks, and then I will resign," Vucic told throngs of his supporters at a pro-government rally in the capital, Belgrade. Vucic's second and final mandate was due to expire in mid-2027.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic has once again offered himself to Barcelona as the club searches for a new centre-forward following Robert Lewandowski’s departure.
While Julian Alvarez remains Barcelona’s top target, uncertainty surrounding Ferran Torres’ future has created another possible opening in Hansi Flick’s attack, encouraging the Serbian striker to renew his interest in a move to the Camp Nou.
Barcelona continue to focus their efforts on signing Alvarez. The Argentine has publicly stated his desire to leave Atletico Madrid this summer, admitting he wants to fulfill his dream of playing for Barcelona.
Within the club, he is viewed as the ideal long-term successor to Lewandowski. Negotiating with Atletico, however, is expected to be extremely complicated, forcing Barcelona to keep alternative options under consideration.
Barcelona’s search for attacking reinforcements is not solely driven by Lewandowski’s departure. Questions also remain over Ferran’s future.

Newcastle United are positioning themselves to land Juventus centre-forward Dusan Vlahovic as he approaches free agency. The Magpies have significantly intensified their efforts to bring the Serbian international to St James' Park. Eddie Howe is keen to add elite, physical firepower to his frontline to bolster his goalscoring options as the Magpies target a return to European football. They finished 12th in the 2025/26 campaign and, as a result, are facing a mass exodus of key players. Anthony Gordon has already left for Barcelona, while Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes are currently being courted by Tottenham Hotspur and ******* nal, respectively.
According to reports from Italy, Newcastle have stepped up direct contact with Vlahovic's entourage. The initial discussions are understood to have been highly encouraging, to the extent that the 26-year-old, who has previously been dubbed 'a better player than Haaland', is now seriously evaluating a move to England. With Vlahovic entering the final stages of his lucrative contract in Turin, the Newcastle recruitment team is eager to exploit this window of opportunity. Juventus are ready to part ways with Vlahovic to reduce the club's hefty wage bill, freeing up more financial resources for summer acquisitions.
The Serie A giants are already actively monitoring several replacement profiles to spearhead their new-look attack, with PSG's Randal Kolo Muani firmly on their shortlist. Newcastle are not the only team interested in Vlahovic, with Turkish giants Besiktas also keen on a swoop, although it is unclear whether he will be open to a move to Turkey. From a Newcastle perspective, securing a proven goalscorer like Vlahovic would represent a statement of intent despite his recent injury woes. He scored seven goals in just 976 minutes of league action last season.

Juventus could reportedly profit from Massimiliano Allegri’s arrival at Napoli as they aim to bring Vanja Milinkovic-Savic to the Allianz Stadium this summer. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the former Milan boss is not keen to keep the Serbian goalkeeper at the Diego Maradona Stadium.
Milinkovic-Savic joined Napoli from Torino on a season-long loan last summer. Though he started the season as Alex Meret’s backup, the 29-year-old quickly leapfrogged his Italian counterpart in the pecking order, establishing himself as Antonio Conte’s first choice between the sticks.
However, with Conte gone, Milinkovic-Savic’s career in Naples could be over. Nevertheless, the Partenopei must pay around €21 million to trigger the Serb’s buyout clause, having made it mandatory 12 months ago. Meanwhile, Allegri is reportedly ready to put the towering shot-stopper up for sale.
PSV Eindhoven star Matej Kovar remains the leading candidate to replace Milinkovic-Savic, yet Napoli must offload the former Torino man first. And Juventus could offer him an escape route.
It’s no secret that Juventus are eager to replace the underperforming Michele Di Gregorio. Head coach Luciano Spalletti has deemed the ex-Monza keeper surplus to requirements and will be looking to cash in on him in the coming months.

Everton say goodbye to another young player from the Academy as Coby Ebere leaves Finch Farm having secured a 3-year deal with Serbian side FK Cukaricki.
Coby Ebere is a fast, powerful, and highly skillful attacker who joined the Everton Academy at the age of 11. Born in Germany, he moved to England in 2017 and steadily progressed through the Finch Farm youth ranks. Though he predominantly operates out wide as an inverted left winger, his physical stature and finishing ability also allow him to lead the line as a central striker.
Everton tied Ebere down to his first professional contract in September 2022. Following consistent development and a transition into the Under-21 setup, the club announced a subsequent two-year contract extension in July 2025, securing his future at Goodison Park/Finch Farm until June 2027.
