The Detroit Lions open their 2026 training camp on Wednesday, and on Tuesday, their veterans reported to the team's Allen Park training facility. As players rejoin the team, it's common for the team to make a few last-minute transactions in preparation for camp. Earlier in the week, we saw the Lions place three players on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, and on Tuesday, they placed Christian Mahogany on the Non-Football Injury (NFI) list, Christian Izien on the Non-Football Illness (NFI) list, and released veteran nose tackle Jay Tufele.
If you're not familiar with the difference between the lists, which list a player lands on is based on where they were injured and the type of injury. If a player was hurt while participating in an activity directly related to the NFL (games, practices, workouts, etc.), they land on the PUP list. If a player was injured in a non-NFL activity (which can include private workouts or in their personal life), they land on the NFI (injury) list. If a player is dealing with an illness (which can range from having the flu or Mononucleosis—like Mahogany had as a rookie—or even more serious illnesses), they land in the NFI (illness) category.
These lists also have some similarities as well. Like with the PUP list, placing a player on either NFI list at this stage does not require them to miss any games. They are restricted from practicing while on the injury lists, but players are also eligible to be removed from any of these lists at any time if a team believes a player is healthy enough to begin practicing. However, if a player remains on any of the lists through roster cutdowns, they will be forced to miss the first four games of the regular season.
Mahogany returns to Detroit this season expecting to work to retain his starting left guard job, so any absence will certainly hinder his ability to compete for that role. While he is out, look for either veteran Ben Bartch, second-year lineman Miles Frazier, or recently traded-for Juice Scruggs to try to seize the opportunity in front of them.
Izien joined the Lions this offseason and was working with the starting safeties in the spring as he was trying to acclimate to the Lions' scheme quickly, as he was also expected to compete for a starting role with Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph on the PUP list. While Izien misses time, Thomas Harper and Avonte Maddox, along with veteran Chuck Clark, should have great opportunities to get into the starting rotation at practice.

The "Who Dey!" chant at Bengals games is one of the best parts of being a Bengals fan and a Cincinnati sports fan. When the Ruler of the Jungle leads The Jungle in the Who Dey chant before kickoff, that gets you going as a fan. After a big touchdown, that's when the "Who Dey!" chant is at its best.
So, where does the chant rank among NFL stadium chants? Sports Illustrated's Karl Rasmussen ranked the 10 best in the NFL, with the "Who Dey!" chant checking in at No. 6. If you've ever wondered how the "Who Dey!" chant came to be, here's how, according to Rasmussen:
The Bengals' chant originated in 1981, stemming from a popular local car commercial and a beloved beer, Hudepohl. Beer vendors at the team's former stomping grounds, Riverfront Stadium, used to offer the local beer by shouting "Hudy!" to fans. Georgia Bulldogs running back Dante Dowdell was hospitalized after he was in an ATV accident this offseason. Dowdell's recovery is expected to take a significant period of time after he suffered "some serious injuries" in the accident.
Dowdell had a promising spring and was expected to be one of Georgia's top running backs this fall. Dowdell started his college football career at Oregon, transferred to Nebraska and then transferred to Kentucky. Last season, he posted 560 rushing yards and three touchdowns. The 6-foot-2, 230-pound running back was expected to take over Josh McCray's role at a minimum.

Tis the season for NFL media to put out their own Top 100 players list. Pro Football Network put theirs out and it is based on their own specialized formula they call a PFN Impact Score. This sort of objective measure creates a very different type of ranking as opposed to say the NFL Network, which is more of a popularity contest.
For the Pittsburgh Steelers, they landed four players on their Top 100, and while two of them didn't come as a suprirse, the other two did.
First up and highest-rated on the list is cornerback Joey Porter Jr. at No. 33. He's the third-highest ranked cornerabck on the list, behind only Derek Stingley Jr. and Pat Surtain II. Porter is currently waiting on a massive contract extension with the Steelers and based on this metric, he should be paid like the top corners in the NFL.
Next up we get EDGE T.J. Watt at No. 42 and defensive tackle Cameron Heyward at No. 49. Watt and Heyward were the two guys who most often show up on these sorts of lists and despite both guys having down seasons in 2025, are in great positions to rebound in 2026 under new defensive coordinator Patrick Graham.
Finally we get center Zach Frazier at No. 75. The only center on this list ranked higher than Frazier is Creed Hunphrey and it really illustrates just how well Frazier played last season, even if others weren't paying attention.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has long forced ***** istant coaches on his head coach.
In 2007, Jones hired Jason Garrett for an unnamed position while he hunted for a head coach. Garrett wasn't hired as head coach but instead became the offensive coordinator for Wade Phillips. Jones has made several other ***** istant coach hirings himself since.
So, it should come as no surprise that Jones guaranteed Brian Schottenheimer a job regardless of what happened in the Cowboys' head coaching search in 2025. Schottenheimer had an "agreement" to remain with the team as offensive coordinator if the team didn't hire him as head coach.
"So, what we did is while they were going through the process -- 'cause there's a process, right? I wasn't sure, and there was a number of other teams -- saying this very humbly -- that were courting me and trying to say, 'Hey, we want you to come be our coordinator,'" Schottenheimer said on The Twins Take podcast. "And so, you know, after just talking it over with Stephen [Jones] and Jerry, like, OK, while we figure this out and you guys go through the interview process, which there's a thorough interview process you have to go through. We had made an agreement that I would stay here no matter what. And I didn't want to leave. ... I really wanted to be the head coach and put our fingerprint, our blueprint on it. And that's what God had planned."
The Cowboys did not have an eye on some of the hot offensive ***** istants that offseason, bypassing Ben Johnson and Liam Coen, among others, to interview Leslie Frazier, Robert Saleh and Kellen Moore. Moore likely wanted to call plays himself. Saleh and Frazier are defensive coordinators.

Resmed has agreed to sell its MatrixCare business in a $490m cash deal to PE firm Frazier Healthcare Partners, allowing it to dedicate its focus to its sleep health-related business interests.
The California-based company said the move reflects its 2030 strategy, which is focused on "high-growth, scalable opportunities" in sleep health, breathing health and connected home-based healthcare.
Resmed's key products are its AirSense range of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machines and its AirFit range of CPAP masks.
The divestiture also strengthens Resmed's ability to reallocate capital and resources towards innovation, operational scale and long-term value creation across its connected, home-based care ecosystem, the company added.

ESPN's college football staff recently undertook the task of naming the best college football players of all time by their jersey number. Among those listed was the Florida Gators' all-time great quarterback, Tim Tebow, who wore No. 15 during his epic collegiate career.

The statue of late boxing champ Joe Frazier was unwrapped Monday at its new and permanent home at the base of the Philadelphia Museum of Art steps.
Family of late Philadelphia boxing legend Joe Frazier gathered ahead of the unveiling of his statue.
"My father was reflective of everyday champions and that's what we are in Philadelphia," said Frazier's daughter Jacquelyn Frazier-Lyde.
The hundreds of visitors who come through the area everyday will now learn about Philadelphia's beloved boxing legend.
"Smokin" Joe was the first boxer to defeat Muhammad Ali in what was billed as the "Fight of the Century" in 1971.

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — Nearly 25,000 children caught in conflict were victims of a record number of violations last year, including killings, rape and recruitment to fight, and for the first time, government forces — not armed groups — were the main perpetrators, a new United Nations report says.
Secretary-General Antonio Guterres' annual report, released this week, has a blacklist of violators against children: government forces from eight nations and 67 armed groups from 16 countries and territories.
The number of violations — which also include abductions, attacks on schools and hospitals, and denial of humanitarian access to help them — rose for a fourth straight year to 38,558, according to the report that is based on verified U.N. data. It said 24,174 children, a third of them girls, were affected, with several thousand subjected to multiple violations.
"The scale and persistence of these violations demand more than acknowledgment — they demand resolve," the U.N. special representative for children in armed conflict, Vanessa Frazier, said in an **** ysis of the report.
She urged the 193 U.N. member nations to confront the findings and "recognize that protecting children is not an aspiration but an obligation, and that the decisions taken today will shape the futures they may or may not live to claim."

Routing guides are crumbling. Truckload contract rates set early in the 2026 bid season aren't holding, management teams at some of the nation's largest carriers told investors at a conference last week.
Mini-bid activity has spiked, and some shippers have been forced to rebid their entire book as tender rejections surge, Spencer Frazier, head of sales and marketing at J.B. Hunt Transport Services (NASDAQ: JBHT), told investors at the Wells Fargo Industrials & Materials Conference in Chicago.
"The only reason that happens is because routing guides, once implemented, start to crumble," Frazier said. "They're falling apart. And that's what has happened at an accelerated pace … from March through today."
Heightened regulatory enforcement has been purging noncompliant drivers from the market since last fall. The impact on the supply side was notable in the spot market around Thanksgiving when rates began to step higher. With additional levers being pulled more recently (strict policing of cabotage rules and the Supreme Court's broker liability ruling) many believe market fundamentals have been structurally altered.
"It is different this time," Frazier said. "Our customers are experiencing basically the increased enforcement of government regulations, and regulations that were existing, and a few new ones."

NEW YORK (AP) — Madison Square Garden has seen just about everything in sports and entertainment, from the first Muhammad Ali-Joe Frazier fight to the first Wrestlemania.
It just hasn't seen much of the NBA Finals.
