Aaron Judge may be back in action for the New York Yankees, but they are bringing him along slowly to preserve his health heading into the most important stretch of the season. To that end, Judge received a day off on Thursday in their series finale against the Colorado Rockies, with Jasson Dominguez taking his spot not just at right field, but at the three-spot in the lineup.
However, Dominguez did not impress during his opportunity on Thursday. In fact, he did the opposite. Not only did he go 0-4 from the plate (with one walk) with two strikeouts on the night, he also made an error in the top of the eighth, failing to field a base hit cleanly which allowed the Rockies to score a run.
This did not matter in the grand scheme of things, as the Yankees ended up winning comfortably in the end anyway, 10-3. Nonetheless, it was clear that Dominguez still has a lot of learning to do, and New York, following the end of their series against the Rockies, decided to demote the 23-year-old to Triple-A, as per Yankees PR account on X.

Pumas got their first home win of the Apertura 2026 after beating Leon by a 3-1 score. Pumas played a solid match and were able to recover after giving up the tying goal to get a solid three points and climb into the Liguilla zone with the victory. Leon battled hard but it wasn't enough. They will return home to host Atletico San Luis on Monday while Pumas will have a tough away match on Sunday when they visit Guadalajara to face off against Chivas.
The 1st half started with Pumas coming out with their usual starting 11 and without Cesar Huerta, who was expected to make his return to Pumas but was rule out because of an injury. Off a counter, Jordi Cortizo got off a left footed shot that would go just wide. Ismael Diaz got off a right footed shot from outside the area that went just wide. A left footed shot in the area from Cristian Calderon would go wide. Off a counter, Luciano Herrera would get off a left footed shot from outside the area that would be saved by Leon's goalkeeper, Oscar Garcia. Cristian Calderon had hurt himself when he got off his left footed shot and had to be subbed out because of that injury. Angel Azuaje was subbed in his place. In the middle of the half, an incredible rain storm started to fall which would probably have a big impact in the match. A cross into the area found Diaz, who whiffed on his close range shot and wasted a great opportunity. A great thru pass found Uriel Antuna but the ball was cleared off his feet by Leon's defense. After a cross into the area was bouncing in the area, Antuna would get off a right footed shot that went wide. From outside the area, Ivan Moreno got off a great right footed shot that forced a wonderful save from Pumas' goalkeeper, Keylor Navas. A great cross into the area by Rodrigo Lopez was beautifully headed by Juninho past Garcia to give Pumas the 1-0 lead. It was a deserved goal as Pumas had been the better team after a slow start. A cross into the area was headed from close range by Diaz but Navas made a good save. The halftime whistle blew and after a good first 45 minutes, Pumas took the deserved lead to their dressing room.
The 2nd half started with Leon subbing out Juan Pablo Dominguez for Diber Cambindo. A cross into the area was headed wide by Herrera. A cross into the area would get to a wide open Jose Alvarado, who got off a great half bicycle kick past Navas to score and tie the match at 1-1. With the Yankees looking to track down the Rays in the AL East while also maintaining the cushion they have on the Red Sox, this interleague matchup against the Rockies was a couple of must win games. Colorado is closing in on 100 losses and is as beatable an opponent as there is right now, sorry to them. Well so far, so good for the Yankees as they've taken the first two games of the series. Tonight, they'll go for the sweep.
To try and accomplish that sweep, the Yankees will give the ball to Max Fried. This will be Fried's third start since returning from the IL, and he's been decent enough so far, allowing two runs in 9.1 combined innings. He still hasn't gone over 72 pitches yet, so it's still unlikely that he'll be airing it out for 100 or anything tonight, but we'll see.
As for the rest of the lineup, the big news is the return of Anthony Volpe. With Jazz Chisholm Jr. going on the IL, Volpe has been recalled and will play second base. He has been hitting decently since getting sent back to the minors, so we'll see if there's any correlation now that he's back in the bigs. Aaron Judge will get a planned day off, his first since being reinstated from the IL on Tuesday as Aaron Boone will take it slow with his superstar outfielder especially after Judge returned without a rehab ***** ignment. His latest start was a mediocre one, where he lasted five innings and gave up four runs to the Cardinals, but he's got some seven-run outings in recent memory as the Dodgers and Nationals took him to task a couple of weeks ago.

Jasson Dominguez started the scoring in the first with a single to right field, bringing in Jarred Kelenic. The next batter J.C. Escarra continued the hit parade with a single to shallow right. That brought in Anthony Volpe, putting runners on the corners for Marco Luciano. The SWB second baseman drove a ball to the wall to bring in Dominguez. Oswaldo Cabrera ended the merry-go-round with a fielder's choice, and a fourth run for the RailRiders.
Yanquiel Fernandez matched Double-R's first four runs, with four runs driven in of his own. Fernandez hit two home runs on Wednesday, his team leading 23rd and 24th of the season. The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre DH went 3-for-4 on the night, with two home runs and four RBI.

Just a few weeks ago, this series looked like it would all but determine the AL Central. While it still will go a long way towards that for the White Sox, a seven-game winning streak by the Cleveland Guardians that has seen them make their case as the only other "contender" in the division.
With the Twins all but out of the race, and the Guardians right on Chicago's heels, this series is an absolute must-win for the South Siders. As they have all season, the White Sox have treaded water as of late. Unfortunately, the Guardians look to finally be making their move.
While the White Sox are currently in the playoffs by 4 ½ games, winning the division is imperative to not only get a home playoff game, but to also likely get the second seed and a bye into the ALDS.
You may be asking yourself: Who are the White Sox going to throw out for game one of this pivotal series? Why it would be none other than Luis Castillo, who has been about as popular in Chicago as Aaron Rodgers. Admittedly, the only significant piece the Sox gave up for Castillo was Seranthony Domínguez, who isn't a good pitcher, either, but Castillo has performed like a double agent for the rest of the AL Central.
In four starts for the team, Castillo has a 5.89 ERA. Most recently, he gave up eight hits and four earned runs in less than three innings of work against the New York Mets last Saturday. To say the crowd was unimpressed by his performance (me included) would be an understatement. Outside of a start against the Cincinnati Reds (0ne hit over seven innings), Castillo has allowed four or more runs in every other effort for the South Siders. According to reports, the NCAA has ruled a Texas A&M guard ineligible to play for the 2026 season, pending an appeal.
Bryson Warren's eligibility waiver request was denied, but he could still fight to regain an extra year with the Aggies through a lawsuit if he chooses. The 6-foot-3, 191-pounder has averaged 14.3 points and 4.1 ***** ists in 27.6 minutes per game in the last three seasons in the NBA's G League. He committed to Texas A&M in the spring, but it was going to be an uphill battle against the NCAA to see the floor at Reed Arena in 2026.
He skipped the collegiate level and went straight to the G League after graduating from Link Academy in 2024. The undrafted guard has yet to sign a two-way contract or play in an NBA game.
This isn't the first instance of a G League player attempting to rejoin the college ranks, however. Santa Clara's Thierry Darlan, Louisville's London Johnson, and even former Texas A&M guard Rubén Dominguez, who took the international pipeline before landing in College Station under Bucky McMillan during the 2025-26 season.

Stopper Domínguez is for his part a product of the academy setup at the aforementioned Celta, a club with whom he has spent the entirety of his playing career to date.

The Neroverdi are active on the transfer market to give new coach Alberto Aquilani the required reinforcements this summer.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Around 50,000 fans watched Manchester City beat Atlético Madrid 3-1 in a pre-season exhibition game at Seoul World Cup Stadium on Sunday, offering a rare example of soccer making headlines for on-field action here during a scandal-hit summer.
The big transfer news of the period saw South Korea's star player Lee Kang-in move from Paris Saint-Germain to Atlético Madrid last month in a deal reportedly worth more than $40 million.

Omar Marmoush scored twice in a three-minute spell in the second half as Manchester City came from behind to beat Atletico Madrid in a friendly in Seoul, South Korea.

When Anthony Volpe reports to the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, manager Shelley Duncan anticipates the shortstop to see some action at second base and possibly third base.

Castillo, 33, is set to join the starting rotation on the South Side. In 2026, Castillo has posted a 5.06 ERA and a 4.57 FIP in 99 2/3 innings. It has been a down year for Castillo, who has only accumulated 0.6 fWAR this season. Overall, Castillo has put together an impressive career, posting a 3.65 ERA, a 3.78 FIP, and 27.0 fWAR across 10 seasons. Castillo is a three-time All-Star who finished fifth in the American League Cy Young race in 2023.
Castillo's numbers have declined significantly since last year (3.54 ERA, 3.88 FIP, 2.6 fWAR in 180 2/3 innings). This decline is noticeable, and the White Sox are aware that they are not acquiring the type of player that Castillo previously was. Castillo's fastball still has plenty of legs (95.3 mph on average, 64th percentile, slightly up from 2025). However, the effectiveness of his breaking ****** has declined sharply. Luis Castillo's tenure as a Seattle Mariner has apparently come to an end. The Mariners announced tonight they have traded Castillo to the White Sox in exchange for reliever Seranthony Dominguez, outfielder Nolan Jones, and catching prospect Boston Smith. Per Daniel Kramer, the Mariners aren't sending any money to offset the remainder of what Castillo is owed on the extension he signed in 2022, which runs through 2027 with a vesting option for 2028 if he reaches 180 innings.
In exchange, the Mariners will be absorbing Dominguez's not-insignificant salary for the remainder of this year and the next year of his contract, when he's slated to make $10.5M. Dominguez also has an option for 2028, but it's a mutual option (with a $2M buyout).
The 31-year-old Dominguez is on pace for the worst season of his career; he still collects strikeouts but his walk rate has ballooned over the past two seasons; he's currently walking over 14% of batters faced. Compounding that problem is a serious case of dingeritis – a career-high 16.7% of fly ******* he's allowed have gone for homers, even in Chicago's ******* ious confines. But he does still strike a lot of batters out and generate whiffs, he can still rush the fastball up at 97+, and he's got a full complement of pitches for the Mariners pitching coaches to work with, even if he's primarily a heater-sweeper pitcher as a reliever. It's an expensive gamble, but the Mariners are both solving their rotation logjam (temporarily) and shedding Castillo's contract in the move; if Dominguez can be Mariner-pitching-hive-minded into even a serviceable mid-innings arm, that's a boon to the beleaguered bullpen.
The other pieces coming over in the trade are interesting in their own right. Nolan Jones is probably a name you're familiar with if you were big into prospects a decade-ish ago; he was a second-rounder drafted by Cleveland in 2016 as a highly athletic two-sport athlete and attracted a lot of prospect attention as he made his way up the ladder for his 6'4" frame, easy raw power from the left side, and a star turn in the Arizona Fall League and the Futures Game in 2019. Unfortunately, injuries derailed his ascent, and he was dealt to the Rockies in 2023 for Juan Brito shortly after making his big-league debut. Now 28, Jones has spent time in the bigs but never really latched on consistently (outside of one 2023 season where he seemed to put it all together for Colorado), mostly due to a monstrous K rate compounded by the length of his swing. He's been with the White Sox Triple-A team this season, blocked by the surprisingly good play at the big-league level, and will likely serve a similar role for Seattle as outfield depth at Tacoma.

Compounding that problem is a serious case of dingeritis – a career-high 16.7% of fly ******* he's allowed have gone for homers, even in Chicago's ******* ious confines. But he does still strike a lot of batters out and generate whiffs, he can still rush the fastball up at 97+, and he's got a full complement of pitches for the Mariners pitching coaches to work with, even if he's primarily a heater-sweeper pitcher as a reliever. It's an expensive gamble, but the Mariners are both solving their rotation logjam (temporarily) and shedding Castillo's contract in the move; if Dominguez can be Mariner-pitching-hive-minded into even a serviceable mid-innings arm, that's a boon to the beleaguered bullpen.
The other pieces coming over in the trade are interesting in their own right. Nolan Jones is probably a name you're familiar with if you were big into prospects a decade-ish ago; he was a second-rounder drafted by Cleveland in 2016 as a highly athletic two-sport athlete and attracted a lot of prospect attention as he made his way up the ladder for his 6'4" frame, easy raw power from the left side, and a star turn in the Arizona Fall League and the Futures Game in 2019. Unfortunately, injuries derailed his ascent, and he was dealt to the Rockies in 2023 for Juan Brito shortly after making his big-league debut. Now 28, Jones has spent time in the bigs but never really latched on consistently (outside of one 2023 season where he seemed to put it all together for Colorado), mostly due to a monstrous K rate compounded by the length of his swing. He's been with the White Sox Triple-A team this season, blocked by the surprisingly good play at the big-league level, and will likely serve a similar role for Seattle as outfield depth at Tacoma.
