It was a rough night for Kansas City Chiefs fans as they wrapped up a busy NFL Sunday by watching their team get stimied by the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks. The Chiefs offense was unable to get anything going and had its worst offensive performance under Patrick Mahomes since 2021.
Luckily for Taylor Swift, she didn't have to sit and watch the destruction at Lumen Field.

US authorities have arrested a 30-year-old from Washington state in connection with the February school shooting in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia.
James Cody Bryant was arrested in Bellingham, Washington, on Tuesday morning on a charge of conspiracy to murder persons in a foreign country, according to the US Justice Department. The February attack on a secondary school in the small town at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains was Canada’s deadliest school shooting in decades, leaving eight people dead, including six children, and dozens wounded.
Bryant appeared in court Tuesday afternoon in Seattle. CNN has reached out to Bryant’s lawyer for comment. A hearing has been set for October 20.
Bryant was allegedly “in repeated contact with” the 18-year-old Canadian shooter, Jesse Van Rootselaar, “offering advice, sending money and even agreeing to live stream the horrific event” on Twitch, said Neil Floyd, the acting US attorney for the Western District of Washington, at a press conference in Seattle.
The money Bryant gave the shooter amounted to a little over $100, primarily to buy a lighter and a pair of shoes that Van Rootselaar “wanted to have when she conducted this killing spree,” Floyd said. The two discussed sending weapons to Van Rootselaar, but Bryant was uncomfortable with doing so and refused, according to a complaint filed in court on Friday.

Costco is famously rooted in Washington state, with its headquarters in Kirkland (which is also the name of its signature brand) and its first official store operating out of Seattle's industrial SoDo neighborhood. But did you know that the wholesale club behemoth can trace its true origins much further south, and to a famous connection? As it turns out, a line can be drawn from Costco to Howard Hughes, the famous movie producer, aviator, and eccentric business tycoon.
Among his many properties, Hughes once owned a rather large warehouse in San Diego, California, that was eventually turned into an early wholesale store called Price Club. It went on to merge with Costco in the 1990s, forever cementing the Costco-Hughes connection. Sure, it may not be the strongest celebrity-Costco connection ever, and Hughes himself never set foot inside one of the chain's stores, but it's one that Costco can be proud to have as part of its storied history nonetheless.

It looks pretty similar today compared to old photos of the building in its Price Club days and as an aviation hangar, with its vaulted ceilings and massive walls. The coolest part though? If you're a history buff in San Diego, you can actually go shop at the Costco that once housed Hughes' airplanes (assuming you're also a Costco member, of course). The store sits on Morena Boulevard, at the exact same address as its preceding incarnations.

A startup is proving that there's value in finding creative solutions for returned and overstock inventory.
Buywander, an auction-based marketplace for returned and overstocked retail inventory, has just secured $21 million in fresh funding. Madrona Venture Group and Inspired Capital led the Series A funding round. This brings the Seattle-based startup's total funding to $28 million. Buywander said it will use the funding to accelerate national expansion, invest in technology, and grow its leadership team.

The Seattle Seahawks are 1-0, so it's time to start scouting their next opponent.
The Arizona Cardinals shocked the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1 with a 26-14 win in which Mike LaFleur became the franchise's first non-interim head coach to win their first game in charge. The matchup was projected as one of the opening week's most lopsided in favor of Jim Harbaugh and Los Angeles, who were coming off an 11-6 record in 2025. Los Angeles made the playoffs and lost to the eventual AFC champion New England Patriots in the Wild Card round, albeit without either of their starting offensive tackles—Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt—who were both expected to boost the offense upon their return this season. Arizona's defense had other ideas, and became one of the biggest surprises of any unit across Week 1's Sunday slate, while their offense simply looked more talented and outplayed LA with complementary football. That's what the Seahawks will be looking for in Week 2.

Their front seven was far more formidable than the Chargers on the day, producing 17 pressures on 55 snaps while LA could only muster 12 on 75 opportunities. On the flipside, the Cardinals' offensive line has been projected as their downfall this season. The Seahawks have a clear opportunity to establish their presence as a physically dominant team if they kill the Cardinals momentum. After struggling in the Super Bowl, the New England Patriots offense was hopeful to turn things around in its rematch with the Seattle Seahawks defense in Week 1. While the game as a whole was much more competitive, the end result was still disappointing.
The Patriots finished with just 10 points on the day, turned the ball over three times, and were plagued by some of the same issues that already haunted them back on Super Sunday. The game was there for the taking, but Drake Maye's third interception of the day sealed it in the home team's favor, which came away with a 13-10 victory over the reigning AFC champions.
In the aftermath of the loss and New England's disappointing outing, offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels found himself the subject of criticism for what was seen as a fairly conservative game plan. However, head coach Mike Vrabel defended the plan on Monday.
"I don't look at things as conservative. That's what we felt like was best against this defense," Vrabel said during an appearance on WEEI's The Greg Hill Show.
"We didn't hit some things and you have to be able to run the football against split safety defense. That's no secret. You don't play split safety defense to stop the run; they play it to not give up big plays. We tried to hit some shots down the field. We threw it to the running backs a couple times for 12 or 15 yards when they were all off there, and on the interception should have thrown it to the back again for a third time. You just can't get bored doing things right. If it's not there it's not there."

The beginning of the Washington Commanders' season is not for the weak. First, they face division opponents in the first two weeks of the season, and then they play the reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks in Week 3. Both games against division opponents are on the road, too, which doesn't help anything.

However, it was clear that the team showed rust in Wednesday's 13-10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. Vrabel opted to use the preseason to focus on the roster depth and preserve the health of the starters.
That's a decision that he continued to defend after the disappointing loss in the season opener.
"Playing the backups for the Eagles or the Colts for eight plays, I don't think was going to prepare us for what we saw last night," Vrabel told media members. "I thought we handled the environment; I thought we did. I know the execution wasn't good enough, but the line of scrimmage, penalties, the operation, those things gave us a chance. His 2024 campaign is probably the best indication of what he is capable of, after having over 900 receiving yards and leading the ACC in touchdowns that season with 11. Washington hopes to bring that kind of production to the Commanders this season, though he'll first have to get over his first-game jitters.
"I feel like if you ain't a little nervous, you don't care. And that's how I approach the game. So, yeah, when it comes out, that first play, I'll probably have a little jitters. But then once the snap goes, then it's game time."
Williams is not a stranger to a capacity stadium and electric game atmosphere. Clemson's Death Valley is well-known in college for its game atmosphere and traditions that make it a difficult place to play, and the Tigers traveled to some hostile places during Williams' time in college. However, it is different when you are playing in the NFL.
Also, Williams and the rest of the Commanders rookie class will not be able to experience a Washington Commanders home game until Week 3 against the Seattle Seahawks. This is the first time since 2012 that Washington has started their season with back-to-back road games.

"I feel like if you ain't a little nervous, you don't care. And that's how I approach the game. So, yeah, when it comes out, that first play, I'll probably have a little jitters. But then once the snap goes, then it's game time."
Williams is not a stranger to a capacity stadium and electric game atmosphere. Clemson's Death Valley is well-known in college for its game atmosphere and traditions that make it a difficult place to play, and the Tigers traveled to some hostile places during Williams' time in college. However, it is different when you are playing in the NFL.
Also, Williams and the rest of the Commanders rookie class will not be able to experience a Washington Commanders home game until Week 3 against the Seattle Seahawks. This is the first time since 2012 that Washington has started their season with back-to-back road games.
