The Chiefs needed 1 yard on a fourth-down play at their own 40. They got 60.
Kansas City's prize offseason acquisition, Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker, got loose around the right side after Broncos cornerback Riley Moss missed the tackle. Safety Brandon Jones was the only defender who had a chance to stop Walker after that and appeared to have the angle.
He didn't.
Walker has 16 carries for 149 yards and a touchdown in his Chiefs' debut, the second-most yards of his career. He had 23 carries for 167 yards and two touchdowns in his sixth career game, which was against the Chargers.
Walker is 4-for-4 on third-and-1 or fourth-and-1 tonight.

After Bayern Munich's 5-0 win against Bodo/Glimt, goal scorer Harry Kane was asked about his ongoing contract negotiations with the club. Though he could not offer any details of the contract or when he expects it to be done, he spoke with a calm confidence that everything would get done in due time.
"We had conversations, a couple of weeks ago and some more this week. As I said before, a contract doesn't happen overnight — it takes time to digest and see how we can make it best case possible for everyone involved. I don't expect it to be done in the next week or two, but hopefully in the next one or two months we should be where we want to be. Right now I'm at a happy place. All I want to do and what the club wants me to do is to focus on the pitch, score the goals and help the team. I'm calm.. It's hard to talk to you guys about it because it's confidential stuff. I'm sure in due time you'll know about the details and get the answers you're looking for. All I can say now is that the conversations are going well. We'll see what happens," Kane said (as captured by iMiaSanMia)
Kane's contract expires at the end of this season, but both sides seem to be confident that a deal will get done to keep the England captain in Bavaria. His comments on Thursday are consistent with updates from Bayern front office officials over the past months.
Where is your confidence level that Kane will remain with Bayern Munich after this season? Let us know in the comments.

Rams news: Myles Garrett hints that training camp injury caused no-show vs. 49ers appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Myles Garrett wasn't happy with his performance following his Los Angeles Rams debut in their 27-7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Australia on Thursday night.
Garrett started the 10th year of his career, his first with the Rams. He joined the team after Los Angeles landed him from the Cleveland Browns for Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and a 2029 third-round pick.
Garrett shines as one of the best pass rushers in the entire league, having won Defensive Player of the Year twice in 2023 and 2025. He now pairs up with Aaron Donald on defense, as the latter came out of retirement this offseason.

Another week of high school football brought about another week of impressive performances.
After Basha (AZ) linebacker Marc Duerson III was voted Super 25 Playmaker of the Week last week, it's time to have a look at some of the top performers from Super 25 teams in Week 3.
Below are five players who suit up for teams ranked inside this week's USA TODAY Sports Super 25 national high school football rankings and put on massive performances last week. While it says a lot to even make the list, the USA TODAY Sports audience is also invited to vote for who they believe should be named Super 25 Playmaker of the Week.
The fourth-ranked Buford Wolves spent last week hoping they'd get to boost their defense with the addition of Cedar Hill (TX) transfer Jalen Brewster, who ranks as the No. 1 overall prospect in USA TODAY Sports 2027 composite ranking. However, the five-star Texas Tech commit hit an eligibility snag with the GHSA, leaving him off the field in Week 3. Fortunately for the Wolves, they wouldn't need Brewster as Buford took care of business in a 41-7 win over Mallard Creek. In a game that both sides of the ball played well for Buford, it's fitting that one of the Wolves' two-way standouts finds his way on this week's list of Super 25 Playmakers. Buford senior Jameer Cantrell rushed for 16 yards on three carries and hauled in a 27-yard touchdown grab on offense, while also tallying two tackles, an interception and falling on a pair of fumbles in the win.
Don't be shocked if Baylor School running back David Gabriel Georges is a frequent flyer on these Super 25 Playmaker lists. The five-star Tennessee commit helped No. 13 Baylor (Chattanooga, TN) down Rabun Gap-Nacoochee (GA) 51-33 last week to help the Red Raiders improve to 3-0. In the win, Gabriel Georges rushed for 196 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries, including this long touchdown rush:

Caitlin Clark had a dreadful night against Italy in the 2026 Women's FIBA World Cup, scoring just 1 point and making 0 field goals.
Clark could not find an on-court rhythm, following up her opening-game double-double with a 19-minute performance where she had to be benched down the stretch in a narrow 55-52 win.
While fans are cognizant that Clark was having a tough game, they also feel like one of Clark's teammates deserves blame for icing Clark out of the offense.
Las Vegas Aces guard Jackie Young went viral after fans clipped a turnover from the 28-year-old where she gave the ball away with a botched flashy pass to Angel Reese when Clark was open and closer.
This play came early in the first quarter, so it's unfair to say that Clark's subsequent performance was a result of Young not integrating her into the offense when she has the ball.

Franco Mastantuono's loan move to Fiorentina was supposed to provide the fresh start he desperately needed after a difficult debut season at Real Madrid.
Instead, the Argentine is finding life in Italy just as challenging, with his latest outing against Torino on Saturday offering little encouragement.
Three games into the Serie A season, Mastantuono is yet to find his feet, and Fiorentina's results have been equally poor.
As reported by Diario SPORT, Mastantuono had one of Fiorentina's best opportunities of the first half against Torino, latching onto a loose ball and finding himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
It was the kind of chance he was sent to Italy to convert. But the 19-year-old failed to find the net, and the miss proved costly.

The Rams released a depth chart that shows Stetson Bennett as the team's second quarterback and first-round pick Ty Simpson as their third quarterback, but head coach Sean McVay said things are less clear cut than that would make it appear.
McVay said that he has not made a decision about who will be active for Thursday's game against the 49ers because he views the two quarterbacks on equal footing when it comes to the competition to be the next man up behind Matthew Stafford.
"I'll tell you when I decide who is going to be the actual two in the game," McVay said, via the team's website. "I've talked to the players about it, but that's something that they're both going to continue to train regardless of who it ends up being up and who is the emergency third. I look at it as both of those guys are going to play, but you saw, we listed Stetson as the two, Ty as the three. But I look at it as the 2A, 2B and we'll see how we approach the game."
McVay added that he doesn't "want to necessarily say that whatever we do in Week 1 is how it stays throughout the year," so the backup spot could be a fluid one and the Rams will be hoping that neither player sees the field outside of garbage time between now and February.

MOOSIC, PA(WBRE/WYOU)— The RailRiders pulled to within two games of first place with a 9-2 win on Wednesday night over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre put up four runs in the first inning, never trailing in the win over the I-Pigs.
Jasson Dominguez started the scoring in the first with a single to right field, bringing in Jarred Kelenic. The next batter J.C. Escarra continued the hit parade with a single to shallow right. That brought in Anthony Volpe, putting runners on the corners for Marco Luciano. The SWB second baseman drove a ball to the wall to bring in Dominguez. Oswaldo Cabrera ended the merry-go-round with a fielder's choice, and a fourth run for the RailRiders.
Yanquiel Fernandez matched Double-R's first four runs, with four runs driven in of his own. Fernandez hit two home runs on Wednesday, his team leading 23rd and 24th of the season. The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre DH went 3-for-4 on the night, with two home runs and four RBI.
New York Yankees pitcher Clark Schmidt started the game for the RailRiders. The start was Schmidt's second rehab start since having elbow surgery last July. Schmidt pitched 0.2 innings last Saturday for the Yankees Double-A team.
Schmidt tossed 2.0 innings for SWB on Wednesday night. He struck out three batters, while also allowing one run on three hits.

Meet the 7 underrated QBs who could be college football's next Fernando Mendoza originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
There might never be a better example of how drastically a quarterback class can change in a few short months than the 2025 college football season.
LaNorris Sellers, Cade Klubnik and Garrett Nussmeier were all considered legitimate first-round prospects and potential Heisman Trophy contenders. The name Fernando Mendoza was known by a much more limited number of fans, with the exception of those who stayed up deep into the night to watch him duel with Cam Ward at Cal.
The quarterbacks to watch this college football season are supposed to be Arch Manning, Dante Moore, CJ Carr, Julian Sayin, Trinidad Chambliss and Darian Mensah. It doesn't usually work out that way, though.
At least one quarterback without much name recognition in Week 1 is going to find his way into the thick of the Heisman Trophy race or the first round discussion, if not both. A rise like Mendoza's is tough to mirror, but there are a number of quarterbacks who have the talent to reach stardom in 2026.

INDIANAPOLIS – USA Track & Field's national indoor championships are coming to Indianapolis for each of the next two years.
The meets will be at Fall Creek Pavilion on the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Dates are Feb. 19-21, 2027, and Feb. 18-20, 2028.
Indianapolis has never been a site of the indoor nationals, held annually since 1906.
The 2027 meet coincides with the 40th anniversary of the inaugural World Indoor Championships, held at the then-Hoosier Dome in 1987, and 20th anniversary of the most recent nationals here, the outdoor championships at Carroll Stadium in 2007.
USATF headquarters are in Indianapolis.

Michael Harris II's clutch hit sparks wild controversy with Rockies originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Colorado Rockies Cole Carrigg found himself back on the field sooner than expected Sunday, one day after making an inappropriate gesture toward Atlanta Braves fans at Truist Park.
Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer initially indicated Carrigg would sit for "a couple days" following Saturday's incident, but the punishment ultimately lasted only six innings. Carrigg entered Sunday's game as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning with Colorado trailing Atlanta 2-1.
The controversy began during Saturday's 2-1 loss when Carrigg attempted a diving catch on a ball hit by Michael Harris II in the eighth inning. Carrigg narrowly missed the ball, allowing two runs to score and giving Atlanta the lead.
Moments after getting to his feet, Carrigg was shown on the broadcast extending his middle finger toward the stands.
