West Ham United have confirmed that Oona Siren has signed a new two-year contract, with the Finland international committing her future to the Hammers until the summer of 2028.
The announcement is another positive step for the club as preparations continue for the 2026/27 Barclays Women's Super League season. While summer transfer windows are often defined by new signings, securing the futures of established players is equally important. West Ham have ensured one of their most dependable performers will remain in east London for years to come.
Since arriving from Norwegian side LSK Kvinner in September 2024, Siren has become one of the most influential players in the squad. Calm in possession, intelligent without the ball and relentless in her work rate, the midfielder has developed into a player her teammates can rely on every single week.
The new deal also comes at an exciting time for the club following the appointment of Rita Guarino as head coach. As the experienced Italian prepares for her first campaign in charge, keeping a player of Siren's quality provides an important foundation to build upon.
After signing her new contract, Siren spoke of her happiness at remaining with West Ham. She made it clear she believes there is still plenty to achieve in claret and blue.

This is the ninth in a 10-part series of questions facing the Buffalo Bills as they head into training camp at St. John Fisher University.
One of the many things the safety tandem of Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde delivered for the Buffalo Bills during their tenure together was their innate ability to make game-altering plays, namely in the area of turnovers.
They played side-by-side in Sean McDermott's defense for seven seasons and during that time they combined for 38 interceptions, 11 forced fumbles and 10 recoveries, and there were another two picks, three forced fumbles and a recovery in the postseason.
This year, with veteran playmaker CJ Gardner-Johnson joining emerging Cole Bishop in the back end of new coordinator Jim Leonhard's defense, the Bills are hoping they can get a few more big plays from the safety position.
Bishop enjoyed a stellar second NFL season, his first as a full-time starter, when he made three interceptions, two sacks, broke up seven passes and was in on a team-high 85 tackles.

Plans to transform and regenerate the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre, which had become a "boarded-up relic of the past", have been approved by Bromley Council.
The centre, which first opened in 1964, will undergo a £130m major revamp of its athletics stadium, indoor arena, and swimming and diving facilities.
Liam Conlon, Labour MP for Beckenham and Penge, also wishes to bring the Diamond League track and field series back to Crystal Palace and expand para-sport provision at the site.
He said it was a massive moment for south London and described it as "the spiritual home of UK athletics, with 28 world records set here, and household names like Usain Bolt and Mo Farah having raced here".
The Diamond League left Crystal Palace in 2012 and the main 50-metre pool closed in 2020.

The majors are done but the betting doesn't stop. We roll right along to the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities, where some longer shots have fared well since the tournament's inception in 2019.
There's just one tiny problem with that - Scottie Scheffler is surprisingly in the field this week, acting as the elephant in the room when it comes to placing outrights. He keeps getting closer and closer, and now he comes to an event where he is a class above everyone else in the field. Fortunately, for those of us who like to sprinkle around, they don't just hand you the tournament. You still have to go out and make the birdies. And a lot of guys are going to make a lot of birdies this week, too.
The Golf Digest betting panel is comprised of Pat Mayo of Underdog/Mayo Media Network, Andy Lack of the Inside Sports Network, Ryan Noonan of Betsperts, your two authors and Keith Stewart, the CEO of Read The Line.

Leeds United captain Ethan Ampadu believes new signing Harry Wilson can bring something "very special" to the team through his contributions in attacking areas.
Ampadu and Wilson are team-mates at international level for Wales and the midfielder was asked by BBC Radio Leeds about whether he helped convince the attacker to make the switch from Fulham to Elland Road.
"I don't think he needed my convincing to join," Ampadu said. "I think he knew what an amazing club this is, what a great time he can have here. I like to think my message or two might've aided him in that direction. I think whenever I've spoken to him in the past the Welsh lads on camp have spoken glowingly about Leeds.
"All the conversations he's had with the manager and club have gone in the right direction. Because I know him quite well and I know him on the pitch, I'm grateful that we've got him in.
"I think everyone saw more last year, I think maybe because he was coming to the end of his contract that gets people talking about you in a different way but his quality, his left foot, the way he works for the team, the way he works for himself, I think all Leeds fans are going to appreciate the hard work he does and the goals and ****** ists is very special and what helps results."

Cavaliers, Heat, 76ers, Warriors and Timberwolves get Bronny James news originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
There have been many conflicting reports about what the Los Angeles Lakers plan to do with Bronny James.
There's certainly a scenario in which James could be sent wherever his father ends up, though it remains uncertain what will happen in that regard. I am uncertain whether it would even make sense for the Lakers to move him to that team, especially if they like him as a player, but one could argue it would be the right thing to do. At the same time, this is the NBA, and I can understand why some don't think there's really a right or wrong thing to do in this league.
According to the latest reports, however, there's a sense that James will end up with his father on his next team.
"Our last candidate has the most famous name of the bunch: Bronny James. His father, LeBron James, is obviously still a free agent. At least five teams are still openly pursuing him: the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Philadelphia 76ers, Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves. Until the elder James signs, there will be **** umptions that his son and former teammate eventually follows him to his next destination," Sam Quinn wrote.

Liverpool have done the sensible thing and told Inter Milan to come back with proper money. According to talkSPORT, the Serie A club have seen a second approach for Curtis Jones knocked back, this time worth around £27m through intermediaries, after an earlier £21.6m offer was already dismissed.
That tells you two things straight away. First, Inter want the player. Second, Liverpool are not in the mood to negotiate against themselves. The asking price is £30m, and with Jones still a useful squad option, homegrown, and entering what should be his peak years, there is no obvious reason for Liverpool to blink first.
The key detail here is the club's reaction. Liverpool reportedly saw the first proposal as "derisory" and "dismissed the second approach out of hand". That language matters. It suggests irritation as much as caution, and it suggests the valuation has now hardened rather than softened.
Jones is understood to be open to leaving Anfield this summer, and Inter have tracked him for months after another offer was rebuffed in January. Even so, Liverpool's position is clear. If the bid does not reach £30m, they are prepared to keep him. In fact, the report says they would even be comfortable letting his contract run down and allowing him to leave on a free next summer rather than accepting a cut-price deal now.
That may sound extreme, but it is often the right call when the market undervalues a player. Jones may not be a guaranteed starter, but replacement cost matters. You are not buying a credible Premier League midfielder, developed in-house, for peanuts.

The quarterback play of the Minnesota Vikings has been a rollercoaster in terms of who is under center in recent years. Despite that, the play of their passers has been decent up until last season, when an often-injured and inconsistent J.J. McCarthy made the offense come to a screeching halt.
The Minnesota Vikings need to have a better offense in 2026, plain and simple. The Vikings did what they could to improve it, and now they will be leaning on former Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray to lead them into their next chapter. That move was enough for Bleacher Report's Moe Moton to include them among his top five teams improved this offseason.
Moton writes, "Although Murray underperformed in Arizona over the last few years, he could see a career resurgence under O'Connell, who has called plays for a top-six passing offense in three of his four years with the Vikings. The 28-year-old signal-caller needs to stay healthy, though. Murray joined a team with a solid wide receiver duo in two-time All-Pro Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. Minnesota signed Jennings, who caught 55 passes for 643 yards and a career-high nine touchdowns last season with the San Francisco 49ers. The Vikings will have a new dynamic starting quarterback and one of the league's best receiver trios this year. Expect this offense to rack up points as one of the top 10 scoring units."
Murray is going to have the best supporting cast of his career. Pairing that with a coaching staff that has shown they can get the most of reclamation projects at quarterback. The perfect storm could be brewing for the Vikings on offense in 2026.

There was an early unexpected delay to the World Cup semi-final between France and Spain after the referee had to be bailed out by a colleague for forgetting a key piece of equipment.
Spain won a free-kick on eight minutes after France midfielder Adrien Rabiot mistimed a challenge on Spain’s Dani Olmo, standing on the Barcelona man’s foot which saw him see a yellow card.
Follow updates from France vs Spain LIVE!
But in an embarrassing moment for referee Ivan Barton, he suddenly realised he did not have the white vanishing spray needed to show the wall where to stand.
Fourth official Glenn Nyberg ran onto the pitch to give him the spray can as Salvadoran official Barton made his way towards the touchline, smiling as he jogged past slightly bewildered players.

In a recent report, journalist Graeme Bailey stated that Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to re-sign Bayern Munich superstar Harry Kane. It has been mentioned that Spurs are eyeing a move to bring him back to England, but are facing competition from Barcelona and Real Madrid in the race to land the England international.
Kane enjoyed a decent run of form at the German club in the previous campaign as he put in a lot of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 32-year-old banged in 61 goals and earned seven ***** ists in 51 matches for Bayern Munich last season in various competitions.
The English talent is currently among the most feared strikers in Europe. Hence, Spurs would do well to re-sign him in this summer transfer window.
His current contract at the Allianz Arena will run out at the end of next season, which could open the door for Tottenham to land him on the cheap this summer or on a free transfer at the end of next season.

Ryan Blaney dominated before and after a 3-hour weather delay on July 12 and 13 at EchoPark Speedway.
But he still had to make a final-lap pass for the win on the drafting track via a major push from Christopher Bell to claim the Quaker State 400 NASCAR Cup Series race in Atlanta.
Carson Hocevar held the lead at the white flag, but Blaney and Bubba Wallace made runs into turns 3 and 4 to create a 3-wide race to the line.
Blaney won, while Wallace was penalized for going below the yellow line on the backstretch. Hocevar finished 3rd, singing on the radio before the overtime finish and during his post-race interview.

It seems that a team looking to acquire LeBron James may have to keep a roster spot open for another player. According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, 6-foot-10 forward Kevin Love could be James' plus one in free agency. Love is an end-of-the-bench veteran who may not have much to contribute on the court but would be a solid locker room presence, similar to former Miami Heat forward Udonis Haslem.
"I wouldn't be surprised if Kevin Love is considered as a plus 1 to any team that acquires LeBron James," Fischer said on Bleacher Report's stream on Saturday.
Love and James played on the Cavaliers from 2015 to 2018. Love was a key contributor in the frontcourt as the third option. His only championship win came in 2016, when James spearheaded Cleveland's historic 3-1 comeback against the Golden State Warriors.
The duo has remained close over the years and recently took a trip together with other players from the Cavaliers' 2016 championship team. James would benefit from having another veteran who can not only keep him, but also other players, accountable.
LeBron James could reunite with Miami or Cleveland, two frequently mentioned landing spots. If Kevin Love tags along, it would be a reunion for him, too. Love honed his role as a locker room leader with the Cavaliers and Heat between 2022 and 2025.

LAS VEGAS -- The Brooklyn Nets (1-1) came into Saturday's game against the Atlanta Hawks (2-0) with the hope of winning their second game in as many days, despite being without Egor Demin and Mikel Brown Jr. Brooklyn still had the rest of the roster available to go against Kingston Flemings and the Hawks, but they let go of the rope in the fourth quarter.
The Nets lost to Atlanta 83-76 thanks to the Hawks winning the fourth quarter 26-16 thanks to the contributions of players like Kobe Johnson and Zuby Ejiofor. Brooklyn had some standouts in this matchup as center Chaney Johnson went off for 20 points, 10 rebounds, and five steals while forward Danny Wolf had 20 points and five rebounds.
For the Hawks, Johnson finished with 17 points, seven rebounds, and four ******* ists coming off the bench while Ejiofor had 13 points and six rebounds. The Nets shot just 8% from behind the three-point line so it was not their strongest long-range shooting game and they also turned the ball over 21 times, allowing Atlanta to keep getting out in transition to score easy baskets.
Here are the Nets player grades following Saturday's loss to the Hawks:
With Egor Demin and Mikel Brown Jr. not playing in this game, there were plenty of ball-handling reps for Saraf to take advantage of and he did a good job of facilitating the offense. Saraf was not particularly efficient on the offensive end as he had his fair share of struggles finishing at the rim, but he was able to get to the free-throw line multiple times and played solid defense as well.

The Golden Boot race at the 2026 World Cup has not disappointed, with Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland one-upping each other all tournament long.
The race is coming down to the wire as the tournament reaches its closing stages.
Mbappe went level with Messi atop the leaderboard Thursday, scoring his eighth goal of the tournament in France's quarterfinal win over Morocco.
But Erling Haaland and Harry Kane are right behind with seven and six goals, respectively, as Norway and England face off in a quarterfinal Saturday, July 11.
Messi and Argentina will face Switzerland on Saturday in the second game of a quarterfinal doubleheader.

America loves Erling Haaland, and the feeling is mutual.
The Norwegian striker is everywhere these days. Yes, he's in the running for top scorer at the Fifa World Cup alongside Messi and Mbappe. Yes, he's one of the world's highest-paid athletes and was the Premier League's top scorer last season.
But that's probably not where most Americans know him from. He's a social media sensation.
Haaland has gone viral for his goofy Snapchat stories, unfiltered interviews and candid vlogs. He posts selfies using the Shrek filter, captioned "selfie with my twin".
He replies directly to fans with crying-laughing emojis. He accidentally misspells Orlando as "Ornaldo", before apologising to all the "perfect brothers and sisters out there" for his mistake – all while staring blankly into the camera.

The Colombian football federation has condemned death threats directed at midfielder Jaminton Campaz and his family following the national team's elimination from the World Cup.
Colombia's tournament ended in a penalty shootout loss to Switzerland in the round of 16. During extra time, Campaz - who plays for Argentine club Rosario Central - missed a critical scoring opportunity when his shot went wide.
After the match, the player's social media accounts were flooded with negative comments and threats. He decided to limit comments on his social media and, as a precaution, did not take the return flight to his home country with his teammates.
"No athlete, nor any member of their inner circle, should be subjected to intimidation for representing their country in a sporting arena," the federation said in a statement.
On Instagram, Campaz shared a photo of himself covering his face in frustration, alongside a plea for respect.

There was a time when outsiders could scratch off anyone in free agency over the age of 30 off the list for the Cincinnati Bengals.
Times change, clearly.
The Bengals used to run away from free agents or trade candidates around the age of 30 and, in most cases, balked at giving contract extensions to guys approaching or slightly after that number.
But part of going all-in this offseason was throwing those rules out the window, when able. They did so by investing majorly via trade and contract with Dexter Lawrence (28), while also adding Jonathan Allen (31) in free agency.
Some of it is the defensive tackle position itself. As Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic recently broke down, half of the 34 players with 10-plus years in the NFL and more than 400 snaps last year were defensive tackles.

The USC Trojans need to make the College Football Playoff this season. That is the goal and expectation. Lincoln Riley has whiffed in four previous attempts to make the playoff. USC is 0 for 12 in making the playoff since the event began in 2014. The pressure is on, and it will only grow after Knoxville News-Sentinel writer John Adams picked USC to make the playoff. He and USA TODAY Sports college football writer Blake Toppmeyer offered their playoff picks before the 2026 season begins. Adams is bullish on USC, but Toppmeyer is not.
"Adams selects: Southern Cal
Toppmeyer's reaction: Noooooooo. You blew it! There goes our perfect bracket. This pick shocks me. Actually, no it doesn't. You got sucked in by USC, once again. Sure, a lot of talent returns, and maybe Gary Patterson will improve the defense, but look at the schedule. It includes: Oregon, Washington, Penn State, Ohio State, Indiana. Too much schedule."
Of course, USC fans do not call the school "Southern Cal," but that point aside, Trojans of all ages hope John Adams' prediction comes true. USC football has done almost nothing since Pete Carroll left, the only exceptions being the 2016 and 2017 seasons under Sam Darnold, with a Rose Bowl win and a Pac-12 championship (the school's only conference ***** le since Carroll left). Now it's time for Lincoln Riley to finally live up to the hype and expectations. The more Riley fails, the harder it is to believe he is the man to lead USC back to the mountaintop in college football.

With Conor McGregor's octagon return just days away, fighters, ***** ysts and fans are getting their predictions in. Former middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis is the latest to weigh in on the Irishman's rematch against Max Holloway in the UFC 329 main event.
"How exciting. Whether you are a fan of Conor, a fan of Max, if you dislike Conor, dislike Max, just having the Mac back is amazing. I think the whole world is talking about it," Du Plessis told Fight Forecast.
"It's been so long coming and I think there was a stage where even I thought I don't think it's ever going to happen again. He always said he would and, you know, he had to go through something in his life and, you know, fix his lifestyle and he seems to have done that."
"Stillknocks" is admittedly a fan of both McGregor and Holloway but he predicted the Irishman will get his hand raised inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday.
"I'm going with the Mac. I'm never going against him. I'm never going against Conor," Du Plessis said. "Max Holloway, massive fan. Love him. He's a great fighter and he's deserving of everything he's gotten and al the praise. But I can't go against Conor."

Is new Michigan State head coach Pat Fitzgerald considered an upper-tier coach in the Big Ten? Paul Myerberg of USA TODAY Sports has weighed in on that in his recent coach rankings.
Among the 18 coaches in the Big Ten, Fitzgerald came in right around the middle in Myerberg's rankings he recently released. He had Fitzgerald as his No. 11 ranked coach in the Big Ten -- right behind Minnesota's P.J. Fleck and right ahead of Washington's Jedd Fisch.
Here's what Myerberg had to say about Fitzgerald:
"Back in the Big Ten four years after being canned by Northwestern, Fitzgerald must show an ability to navigate through a landscape that has changed dramatically since his final season with the Wildcats."
Fitzgerald received some relatively high praise from Myerberg in these rankings, as I personally have not seen him ranked this high in similar articles. He is obviously an interesting use case given the success he experienced at Northwestern but with that coming during a different era of college football.

World Cup Round of 16 bracket: Updated schedule, results for second 2026 FIFA knockout round originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The World Cup field has now been reduced from 48 teams to just 16.
A total of 32 progressed through the group stage to reach the first knockout round, and half of those have now been eliminated. The Round of 16 is where things start to get really interesting.
Most of the pre-tournament favorites are still alive, although Germany were shocked by Paraguay in the Round of 32, while the Netherlands also went home. Will we see any further surprises at this stage, or can we expected a quarterfinal lineup of all the remaining big guns?

India batter Ajinkya Rahane expressed disbelief regarding Sanju Samson’s omission from India’s T20I squad for the Zimbabwe tour. He expressed surprise and hoped that the selectors had communicated the decision to him.
Rahane took to Instagram and posted a story throwing his weight behind Samson, saying he expected the wicketkeeper-batter to return to the national side soon.
"Hope there has been some communication with Samson. Find it odd that the hero of our recent T20 WC win has been left out of the T20 squad to Zimbabwe. Hope to see him back in the team soon," Rahane wrote on his Instagram Story.
The veteran shared his remarks following the announcement of India’s squad for the three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, which marked Samson’s absence.
The 31-year-old was omitted despite his significant contribution to India’s successful ICC T20 World Cup campaign.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday announced a 15-member squad for the Zimbabwe tour, with Prabhsimran Singh and Yash Thakur earning their maiden India call-ups.
The T20I series will commence on July 23, with all three matches scheduled to be played in Harare. The team will take the field under Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy. Tilak Varma, on the other hand, will be the vice-captain.
Fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who replaced Samson in the second T20I against England, keeps his spot.
Shreyas Iyer (Captain), Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma (Vice-Captain), Ishan Kishan (WK), Shivam Dube, Suryansh Shedge, Rinku Singh, Harsh Dubey, Varun Chakaravarathy, Prince Yadav, Yash Thakur, Ashok Sharma, Mayank Yadav, Prabhsimran Singh (WK).

It was a difficult night for the United States men's national team, bowing out of the 2026 World Cup in the round of 16. While the expanded tournament allowed the U.S. to pick up a first knockout win since 2002, it goes out of this tournament in the same round it was eliminated in during the 2022 competition.
U.S. manager Mauricio Pochettino had hoped to become the first manager to lead the U.S. to a quarterfinal since Bruce Arena did it in 2002 but instead oversaw a 4-1 defeat with Belgium comfortably sending the Stars and Stripes out of the tournament they were hosting.
There were still some bright spots Monday, but there also were some players whose stock took a hit. Here are the winners and losers from the elimination game:

Conor McGregor’s marquee return to the UFC is the latest UFC event to stay behind the Paramount+ paywall.
In August 2025, UFC reached an exclusive seven-year, $7.7 billion rights deal with Paramount in the United States. The agreement ended UFC’s pay-per-view model, moving all events to the Paramount+ streaming service, with select simulcasts on CBS.
CBS simulcast the final hour of the prelims and the first hour of the main card for UFC 326 in March and UFC 327 in April. Since then, however, Paramount has kept its biggest cards exclusive to Paramount+, which includes UFC Freedom 250, held in June on the White House lawn.
UFC 329, which features the return of Conor McGregor, will once again feature all live action exclusively on the Paramount+ streaming service. CBS will air a primetime special on Friday, however, featuring coverage of McGregor and Max Holloway’s weigh-in. Front Office Sports was first to report the Paramount+ exclusivity.
Viewership for UFC Freedom 250 may be a good place to start to understand why CBS, which is airing NCIS: Sydney and 48 Hours instead, will not simulcast any live action. Freedom 250 averaged 7 million viewers on Paramount+. That is on par with the NBA’s biggest regular-season windows. The most-watched NBA game on Christmas Day in 2025, featuring the San Antonio Spurs against the Oklahoma City Thunder, averaged 6.7 million viewers on ABC and ESPN.
