On September 17, shares of Marvell Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MRVL) and GLOBALFOUNDRIES Inc. (NASDAQ:GFS) moved sharply higher, with Marvell Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MRVL) gaining more than 4% and GLOBALFOUNDRIES Inc. (NASDAQ:GFS) rising more than 6% by the end of the trading session.
Reuters reported that the two companies have expanded their agreement to increase production capacity for silicon germanium (SiGe), a semiconductor technology used in high-speed optical connections for data centers. The multi-year agreement will expand capacity for GLOBALFOUNDRIES Inc.'s (NASDAQ:GFS) SiGe technology at its facility in Burlington, Vermont. SiGe allows semiconductor devices to operate at higher speeds while using less energy, making it increasingly important as data centers handle larger volumes of data.
Robb Johnson, Vice President, Foundry Technology at Marvell Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MRVL) said the expanded collaboration will help ensure that the company has the "SiGe technology and manufacturing capacity to support the significant growth" it expects ahead.
According to the report, the increased manufacturing capacity will help Marvell Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MRVL) meet growing demand for optical networking products, including pluggable optical transceivers, near-packaged optics, and co-packaged optics.

Greenlight Capital is an investment management firm specializing in value-oriented strategies. The letter can be downloaded here. Greenlight Capital released its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, reporting a 4.3% decline for the Partnerships and a 1.9% year-to-date gain, net of fees and expenses, compared with gains of 15.2% and 10.2% for the S&P 500 Index. The funds entered the quarter conservatively, but costly trading decisions and macro positions, particularly in gold and U.S. interest rates, weighed on results. Long positions contributed roughly 9%, offset by similar losses from shorts. The letter also highlighted concerns over speculative market conditions, using ******* eX's $1.75 trillion IPO valuation and investment-grade rating as examples of excess. Looking ahead, Greenlight is more constructive on Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh's inflation stance and expects positions to recover if inflation moderates and rates remain unchanged. Additionally, reviewing the Strategy's top holdings could help identify its best ideas for 2026.
In its second-quarter 2026 investor letter, Greenlight Capital highlighted Versigent PLC (NYSE:VGNT). Versigent PLC (NYSE:VGNT) is an automotive wire harnesses distributor that designs, manufactures, and distributes low- and high-voltage power electrical architectures. On August 26, 2026, Versigent PLC (NYSE:VGNT) closed at $47.36 per share. Over the past month, Versigent PLC (NYSE:VGNT) returned 15.35%, and its shares have gained 9.07% over the past 3 months. Versigent PLC (NYSE:VGNT) has a market capitalization of $3.49 billion, and its stock has traded within a 52-week range of $26.34 to $50.89.
Greenlight Capital stated the following regarding Versigent PLC (NYSE:VGNT) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Versigent PLC (NYSE:VGNT) is a leading supplier of automotive wire harnesses that recently spun out of Aptiv (APTV). Although the business was viewed as a lower-growth, lower-margin part of APTV's portfolio, we believe VGNT is a high-quality supplier. Its business should benefit from the shift toward hybrid and battery-electric vehicles, which require significantly more of the company's products than internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. VGNT also has a durable customer base, as its products are deeply embedded in customers' platform design and engineering. Post-spin, management has opportunities to improve margins through automation while further diversifying the business in commercial vehicles and non-automotive applications. By the end of 2028, VGNT is targeting $1 billion of ******* ulative free cash flow, or approximately one-third of its current market capitalization, with the majority expected to be returned to shareholders through buybacks. We acquired our shares at an average price of $29.20, or approximately 4x this year's expected earnings. VGNT ended the quarter at $42.01."

In a recent report, El Intransigente stated that Sunderland are expected to move in for River Plate midfielder Matias Galarza this summer. It is understood that the Black Cats are eyeing a move to bring the Paraguay international to the Stadium of Light this off-season.
Galarza enjoyed a solid loan spell at the MLS club as he put in a series of impressive displays for them in the middle of the park. The 24-year-old made 13 appearances for Atlanta United last season across all fronts.
The Paraguay international is currently among the most talented midfielders in his homeland. Thus, Sunderland would do well to lure him to the Stadium of Light this off-season.
His current contract at his parent club, River Plate, will expire at the end of 2028, which could make it tough for the Black Cats to sign him on the cheap later this year.

Tower Semiconductor Ltd. (NASDAQ:TSEM) is one of the top stocks to buy according to Whale Rock Capital Management. On June 18, Tower Semiconductor Ltd. (NASDAQ:TSEM) announced that it has shipped more than five million coherent photonic integrated circuits (PICs) to global customers of its partner Marvell Technology.
These chips are used in coherent optical transceivers, which are specialized components that transmit data over fiber optic cables. According to Tower, these components are increasingly needed to link data centers as AI computing drives up demand for network bandwidth and speed. It added that coherent PICs are harder to build than simpler chip types because they must precisely control both the phase and polarization of light. Tower has been working with Marvell to push this technology forward, including combining silicon with other specialized materials, stacking electronic components in three dimensions, and using an advanced packaging method known as V-Grooves to improve how light is guided through the chip.
Dr. Ed Preisler, who leads Tower's RF Business Unit, said the company's photonics manufacturing platforms need to keep evolving alongside the requirements of coherent optical transceivers, and that Tower is proud of its partnership with Marvell in this area.
For Dr. Radha Nagarajan, Marvell's chief technology officer for optical engineering, the shipment is a milestone that proves the strength of the two companies' collaboration. Nagarajan added that Marvell intends to keep working with Tower to develop next-generation coherent technology suited to large-scale data center networks.
Tower Semiconductor Ltd. (NASDAQ:TSEM) is a specialized semiconductor foundry. It provides technology, development, and process platforms for integrated circuits, including SiPho, SiGe, CMOS image sensor, RF CMOS, mixed signal CMOS, non-imaging sensors, and integrated power management technologies.
