Quantum computers can be better at processing data-heavy workloads in areas like science and cryptography, because they can use a concept called superposition to simulate multiple solutions to a problem at the same time. However, even the best quantum systems today are still making far too many errors to solve complex real-world problems.
Rigetti Computing (NASDAQ: RGTI) is one of the industry leaders right now, and it's making genuine progress. But considering even the company's most powerful quantum computers aren't overly useful yet, it's struggling to generate meaningful sales, so it's burning through truckloads of cash while it continues to conduct research and development.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
That creates a problem for shareholders, because Rigetti stock is trading at a sky-high valuation, which opens the door to potential downside if the company can't find a way to bring in significantly more revenue in the near future. Here's why I predict the stock will plummet over the next 12 months.
Rigetti built its own fabrication facility to produce chips, developed its own quantum programming language, and even created its own cloud platform, which it can rent to other businesses, thereby monetizing quantum computing capacity. By effectively operating its own end-to-end supply chain, the company can bring new systems to market much faster than many of its competitors.

More than half of consumers — 56% — have left brands that ignored their feedback, according to a survey of 1,500 consumers and 750 digital leaders from Quantum Metric, released earlier this month.
Fewer than 1 in 5 consumers see surveys as an effective way to provide their feedback, and another one-third said they don't feel heard by digital brands at all.
One-quarter of digital leaders have daily access to recent customer feedback, while about half — 52% — have no formal process for acting on the feedback they do collect, the report found.
Gathering data on customer sentiment and behavior without acting on it is a fruitless exercise, but taking action on data is easier said than done.

Interested in NVIDIA Corporation? Here are five stocks we like better.
NVIDIA released CUDA-Q Logical, an open-source software layer that links GPUs with quantum processors to solve practical error correction challenges.
Early testing by Fermilab and Sandia National Laboratories shows dramatic efficiency gains, including a seven-fold faster design cycle and reduced physical qubit requirements.
Quantum hardware firms IonQ, Rigetti Computing, and D-Wave Quantum could benefit as standardized software lowers development costs and enables deeper integration with NVIDIA's infrastructure.
Many investors view quantum hardware developers and classical semiconductor leaders as competing forces in high-performance computing. Recent developments demonstrate that the two architectures are becoming deeply interdependent.

Stanley Druckenmiller has quite a long and distinguished career as an investor. Much of this has to do with high-risk bets that have paid off enormously, such as when he and his boss, George Soros at Quantum Fund, shorted the U.K. pound for a handsome profit of what was reported to be around $1 billion.
For that reason, the trades Druckenmiller makes with his Duquesne family office matter, and his picks are taken seriously. One of the more intriguing ones is Duquesne's largest holding currently -- and for eight quarters now. It's not a famous name; rather, it's a next-generation healthcare diagnostics company that was once something of a sleeper. Here's a bit more about it.

This huge bet on the future is Natera (NASDAQ: NTRA), a medical diagnostics company that uses unique, state-of-the-art technology to evaluate a patient's blood sample. Natera isn't the only business providing these liquid biopsies, as they're known, but its personalized, tumor-informed approach makes it a best-in-class screener in numerous use cases.
The major one is oncology, which is hardly surprising given the prevalence of cancer. Natera has a set of tests for this, led by Signatera, a highly personalized one constructed from the patient's tumor profile. With this, it detects circulating tumor DNA in the blood. To say this is useful in cancer detection is an understatement, so it's hardly surprising that Natera processed roughly 296,700 oncology tests in the company's second quarter. That was up a highly impressive 57% year over year.

In the quantum computing investment sector, two popular stock picks are IonQ (NYSE: IONQ) and Rigetti Computing (NASDAQ: RGTI). Both of these quantum computing upstarts have a long way to go before becoming a viable investment option. However, by looking at their respective technologies, investors can get an idea as to which company has a better chance of reaching the finish line.
Let's take a look at these two and see which is the better stock pick.
Continue »
The primary way most companies do quantum computing is via superconducting. This involves cooling a particle in a chamber to near absolute zero temperatures so it can be controlled for the purposes of quantum computing. Rigetti utilizes this technique, but that's also the same process that many of the legacy tech companies are using. That may prove to be a problem, as Rigetti is competing against some heavyweights with huge resources.
IonQ is taking a far different approach. There's really ****** ody else doing what IonQ is doing, which could be good or bad. Instead of cooling a chamber, IonQ uses lasers to pinpoint and cool a particle, then utilizes an ion trap that's similar to a maze to trap the particle and utilize it for quantum computing purposes. This yields superior accuracy, but at the cost of processing speed.

This is an exciting time for investors. Emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and electric vehicles (EVs), offer strong investment opportunities in innovative businesses.
One such company is QuantumScape (NASDAQ: QS). It sits at the intersection of AI and EVs, since its solid-state battery technology can provide power for both. The company recently announced the creation of business units dedicated to these two areas, and a third focused on other markets, including aerospace and defense.

After hitting a 52-week high of $19.07 in 2025, the stock fell to a low of $4.77 toward the end of July and has remained near that level. Is this a buy opportunity? Here's a closer look at QuantumScape and whether it's a worthwhile investment.
The energy density, power performance, and safety profile of QuantumScape's solid-state batteries caught the attention of Volkswagen, which has invested hundreds of millions of dollars in the battery maker over the past several years. Volkswagen isn't the only interested party.

VC investment in quantum computing notched a record $2 billion in Q2 across 23 deals, accounting for a third of dollars in the chips and datacenters vertical, according to a new PitchBook report.
Quantum's marquee event this quarter was Quantinuum's IPO, which accounted for most of the $19 billion in quantum exit value and was the first major test of the technology in public markets. On the VC side, Oxford Quantum Circuits raised a £260 million Series C led by Bullhound Capital.
Strategics are eyeing quantum technologies, too. Miraex, a quantum hardware startup, was bought in June following Quantum Circuits $538 million sale earlier this year.
Overall, investment in chips and datacenters fell for the second consecutive quarter, hitting $6.6 billion across 133 deals in Q2. Despite the pullback from recent highs, 2026 is still on pace to exceed 2025's record of $21.6 billion.
The declines were concentrated in semiconductor chip design startups, which posted their weakest quarter since Q1 2025 at $1.7 billion. While newer chip design entrants like Etched, d-Matrix, and Ricursive Intelligence are making waves, the dominance of larger players has given investors pause.

QuantumScape (NASDAQ: QS), a developer of solid-state batteries, went public through a merger with a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) on Nov. 27, 2020. Its stock opened at $24.80 on its first day and closed at an all-time high of $131.67 on Dec. 22, 2020.
Before going public, QuantumScape claimed it could commercialize its first batteries by 2024, and that its revenue would soar from $14 million in 2024 to $275 million in 2026. But as of this writing, it hasn't commercialized any batteries nor generated any meaningful revenue yet.

That's why QuantumScape's stock plummeted 96% to its current price of about $5. Will it bounce back next year as it makes more progress toward launching its first batteries?
QuantumScape's solid-state batteries have higher charging capacities, shorter charging times, and better thermal resistance than liquid-based lithium-ion batteries. But they're also more expensive and challenging to manufacture than their lithium-ion counterparts.

International Business Machines (IBM) is a global technology and consulting leader headquartered in Armonk, New York, with roots dating back more than a century. IBM's diversified portfolio spans hybrid cloud computing, artificial intelligence software, enterprise consulting, and next-generation infrastructure, including mainframe systems and quantum computing. IBM has repositioned itself around AI-driven productivity, Red Hat's hybrid cloud platform, and its ambitious quantum computing roadmap targeting a large-scale fault-tolerant quantum computer by 2029. With a client base spanning global enterprises and governments, IBM continues investing heavily in AI, automation, and open-source innovation to drive long-term growth.
IBM stock is currently trading around $230, well below its all-time and 52-week high of $332.46 set in June, though comfortably above its 52-week low of $199.19. Shares tumbled sharply after IBM's second-quarter earnings miss in July, falling more than 7% in a single session to around $206 before staging a partial recovery in the following weeks.

There's a great deal to like about quantum firm D-Wave (QBTS), including its promising technologies, its rapidly growing bookings and backlog, the investment that it received from the U.S. government, and its impressive list of customers.
However, Quantinuum (QNT), whose IPO was launched by majority owner Honeywell (HON), also has all of these attributes. However, its revenue, backlog, and cash reserves are meaningfully larger than those of D-Wave. Due to these points, I view QNT stock as the better, safer pick for investors for now.

SpaceX (SPCX) stock is back around its IPO price, putting investors in a familiar dilemma: Is this a buying opportunity or another warning sign? Shares dropped nearly 5% on Thursday to $132.69, slipping beneath the company's $135 IPO price and ending a streak of six consecutive closes above that benchmark. The decline came after SPCX repeatedly struggled to break through $150, the price at which it opened on June 12.
For a stock that once surged to $225.60, the reversal has been dramatic. ******* eX has already fallen nearly 40% from its June peak and traded as low as $104.83 on Aug. 3. Yet the underlying business is growing at a remarkable pace. That makes the question of whether to buy SPCX stock more complicated than simply looking at the chart.

Palantir Technologies (PLTR) stock has recovered quickly, gaining more than 40% over the past month. The rally followed the company's stronger-than-expected second-quarter performance and solid growth prospects.
Two concerns had weighed heavily on PLTR. The first was the stock's exceptionally rich valuation. The second was the prospect of intensifying competition as major artificial intelligence (AI) companies expanded into enterprise applications that overlap with parts of Palantir's market. While Palantir's latest results have not eliminated either risk, they have provided investors with stronger evidence that Palantir's competitive position and demand remain robust.
