Things were incredibly easy for the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night.
They rolled to a dominant 22-0 win over the Seattle Mariners in what ended up being a blowout that Major League Baseball hasn't seen in well over a century.
That matched the largest shutout win in MLB history since the start of the 1888 campaign, according to MLB's Sarah Langs. A 22-0 win has only been seen twice since then, first by the Pirates in 1975 and by Cleveland in 2004, though both of those were done on the road.
A larger home blowout dates back to 1885, when the Giants picked up a 24-0 win. The Philadelphia Quakers also grabbed a 24-0 win in 1887, but that was on the road, too.
The Brewers had 22 total hits in the win on Tuesday, and had built up a 13-0 lead through seven innings. They dropped five runs in both the fifth and sixth innings, thanks in part to home runs from Christian Yelich, David Hamilton and Jake Bauers.

The Rays lost another blowout tonight, one in their starter could not complete four innings and the subsequent relievers didn't offer much relief.
Nick Martinez….I don't know, I love the guy for so many reasons, but after his amazing first couple of months, it seems like every three, maybe even two outings is a clunker. The only good news is that best I can recall he's never had two clunkers in a row, so I look forward to him pitching 7 strong innings five days from now.
Tonight he put the Rays behind 4-0 early on, a homer, some doubles, yada yada yada
The Rays tried their "let's hit a bunch of singles and see what happens" approach and what happened was little, ergo the bases loaded one out third inning that ended with a double play.
And as often happens, after the Blue Jays retired the Rays without letting them score, they came back the next inning and yada yada yada 6-0.

There's no such thing as a bad one-year deal. It's an old baseball axiom that has remained true for quite some time, even if some cases tend to test that theory. This is one such case, as it's become very clear that the Ha-Seong Kim one-year deal hasn't worked out anywhere near the level to where both parties figured it would once they agreed to the one-year, $20 million deal during the offseason.
During the series recap for the Diamondbacks series, I mentioned that Ha-Seong Kim had made "progress" after he recorded his fourth RBI of the season during that blowout loss on Saturday to Arizona. Not his fourth RBI of the game — his fourth of the season. I would never lie to you on the internet, so here's video proof!
This was his first RBI since June 3 and that only came after he had what looks like a hot streak in comparison back in late-May, which is when he picked up two RBI in a three-game span. That is absolutely anemic in terms of counting stats.
Somehow, Kim's four RBI don't have him in last place among hitters with at least 80 plate appearances. Four other players have made at least 80 plate appearances and have produced fewer RBI than Kim has done so far this season. With that being said, some of the stats that Kim has put up this season have truly got to be seen to be believed.
Among batters with at least 80 plate appearances, he's last in Isolated Power (.000), he's last in BABIP (.094), he's last in batting average (.066), he's next-to-last in On-Base Percentage (.165), he's last in slugging percentage (.066), he's last in wOBA (.126), he's in a three-way tie for next-t0-last in xwOBA (.207) and he's last in wRC+ with a scarcely-believable 29 wRC+. This is astonishing.

In fantasy football, the QB position is easily the deepest player pool to choose from for managers. With that, we see a lot of year-over-year variance, QBs who are drafted later on jumping up into QB1 status by the end of the season. Four of our Yahoo ******* ysts — Hayden Winks, Joel Smyth, Justin Boone and Ray Garvin — share their favorite QB breakout candidate for 2026.

It's rare to have a QB's WR1, WR2, WR3, TE1 and RB1 all go before him in fantasy football ADP, but that's what is happening with Love. Either we are taking crazy pills with all of this Packers' investment or Love is simply underpriced. I think the latter. Love is benefiting from a few things this upcoming season. First, his skill group is sick. I love Matthew Golden at cost as a sleeper and Tucker Kraft being back a month before the season is promising. Beyond that, the Packers are stressing more pace in practice and they followed that up by quickly breaking the huddle and snapping the ball in preseason action last week. It wouldn't be a surprise if they passed more with Josh Jacobs' status and this new quicker-paced offense, and more dropbacks mean more fantasy points. On that, Love has been extremely efficient for years (see below), but the Packers have been too conservative for him to break into the top-10 fantasy mix. The defense looks rough early on without Micah Parsons, and the early schedule includes games with the Vikings, Jets, Falcons, Bears, Cowboys, Lions and Panthers. — Hayden Winks
Here's a look at how Love stacks up in terms of EPA per dropback vs. success rate at the QB position.
Williams finished as the QB9 in PPG last season and is now being drafted as the QB8 on Yahoo. For a Year 3 quarterback, the combination of floor and upside looks incredible. He's flawed; his second season had plenty of missed throws down the field, but his natural playmaking ability and offense easily overcomes it. Keep in mind, this is only his second season in the offense and third overall in the NFL, often where the most offseason growth occurs for a QB. Williams has every ingredient of a great fantasy QB: Coaching, offensive line, weapons, scrambling, an aggressive passing style, all on an offense that will likely be in shootouts or as Ben Johnson loves, merciless blowouts. He already was a 20-PPG scorer in the second half of last season and can take it to the next level this year. — Joel Smyth

The Dodgers needed a get-right game, and apparently all they needed to do was come to Coors Field.
After going 5-11 in their last 16 games, being swept by the Red Sox and Cubs, while also dropping series to the Diamondbacks and Brewers, the Dodgers looked their regular selves on Monday, hitting three homers, while Blake Snell held the Rockies to two hits and one run in six innings on the way to a 11-5 blowout.
To summarize the vibe of the night, through eight innings, the Rockies had as many hits — two — as fielding errors and the best part of the broadcast was the footage from the Savannah Bananas takeover of Coors Field over the weekend.
At least the Rockies tried to come back, putting up a three-run rally in the bottom of the ninth, but it wasn't nearly enough.
It only took nine pitches for Tomoyuki Sugano (菅野 智之) to retire the mighty top of the Dodgers lineup — Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman and Andy Pages — on three ground ***** in the first.

PITTSBURGH – A.J. Hinch promised his team wouldn't sulk after it got swept by the Chicago White Sox, or be caught by even the slightest bit of disheartenment. That wasn't going to help the Detroit Tigers beat the Pirates, he noted.
The manager was right.
Mostly.
Whatever else is said about his Tigers, about their youthful inconsistency, their uneven bullpen, their talent for booting a grounder or walking back-to-back batters and turning blowouts into high-stress innings, there is this: They don't dwell.
And they didn't Monday, Aug. 17, at PNC Park as they beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 8-5.

Former Baltimore Ravens linebacker and special teams standout O.J. Brigance made the first tackle of Super Bowl **** V, a 34-7 domination of the New York Giants, and he left a lasting legacy on the organization, which he wound up later working for as he battled ALS.
That fight came to end after 19 years, with the Ravens announcing Monday that Brigance has died. He was 56.
"We are devastated by the awful news that we have lost O.J. Brigance," Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti said in a statement. "O.J. was a beloved legend, mentor and man to everyone who was fortunate enough to know him."
Bisciotti described Brigance as "one of the first Ravens heroes." In addition to that auspicious game-opening Super Bowl tackle, he registered three more in the blowout victory over the Giants.
Brigance hailed from Houston and also experienced championship success as a member of the Canadian Football League, in which he helped the Baltimore Stallions win the 1995 Grey Cup.

Why Aaron Rodgers Should and Shouldn't Suit Up During the Preseason originally appeared on SportsNet Pittsburgh. Add SportsNet Pittsburgh as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
It's no secret that Aaron Rodgers is one of the loudest personalities in the NFL. The veteran has made quite a name for himself both on and off the gridiron throughout his career; now, the question of whether or not it's worth a preseason suit-up has arisen.
Pittsburgh looked great against Green Bay on Thursday night in a 28-9 blowout. With Rodgers not seeing an ounce of playing time, like the majority of Pittsburgh's offensive starters, should he even play this preseason?
Here's a look at the pros and cons of Rodgers suiting up for preseason football in the Steel City.
At 42 years old, the NFL's oldest player is not getting any younger. While it's not like the veteran will see ample snaps in the preseason to begin with, it certainly wouldn't hurt in terms of keeping Rodgers loose.

ATLANTA ― The race to the WNBA playoffs is on, and every game from here on out could have major implications for teams in the top eight.
That list currently includes the Indiana Fever (22-12) and Atlanta Dream (21-12), who will face one another in a Sunday matchup at State Farm Arena (5 p.m. ET, ESPN). The Fever and Dream currently occupy the fourth and fifth spots, respectively, in the league's standings and hope to clinch a playoff spot in the coming weeks. Sunday's game could play a factor in where each team ultimately lands.
The Dream currently own the tiebreaker and season series over Indiana (2-1), but the Fever look to change that. Indiana is on a three-game winning streak after picking up a 98-87 win over the Dallas Wings on Friday. Indiana had four players in double digits against Dallas, including Caitlin Clark, who finished with 29 points and 10 **** ists. Kelsey Mitchell added 23 points, extending her current streak of scoring 20 points or more to a league-record 18 games.
Atlanta hopes to extend its own win streak to three games and take the season series against Indiana following an Aug. 13 blowout road win over the Connecticut Sun. Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray led the way with 29 points each in the Dream's 104-69 win against the Sun. Angel Reese owned the boards with 15 rebounds, setting a single-season franchise record for most rebounds (375). Reese accomplished the feat in 32 games.

Travel services provider Expedia Group Inc. (NASDAQ:EXPE)'s shares are up by 58% over the past year and by 13.5% year-to-date. The firm reported its second quarter earnings earlier this week and posted $4.32 billion in revenue and $5.76 in adjusted profit per share to beat ****** yst estimates of $4.17 billion and $5.23. Crucially, Expedia Group Inc. (NASDAQ:EXPE) also raised its full year revenue and bookings forecasts. For the revenue, it now expects to earn $16.05 billion to $16.22 billion, up from the previous $15.6 billion to $16.0 billion. As for the bookings, Expedia Group Inc. (NASDAQ:EXPE) hiked the guide to $129.5 billion to $130.8 billion from the earlier $127 billion to $129 billion. The firm's optimism pointed towards a robust travel industry despite the high gasoline prices that Americans are facing off against. The optimism was caught by Cramer's watchful radar as well:
"This may be the quarter where people say, even though the gasoline went up, well it came down a little bit, even though the K part of the consumer is not doing well, Expedia following Bookings, with another blowout. And I look at thee two and I say, wait a second, these say the consumer. . .is really good. This is a nice view of spend. If you put up AXP, that's the one people said, well, it didn't do that well. I think it's time to go back to American Express. I think Steve Squeri did a very good job, he's always been understated, the other guys, a little more promotional. But travel is on fire."
American Express Company (NYSE:AXP) is one of Jim Cramer's favorite stocks in the sector. Throughout 2025, he regularly praised the firm's payment cards and their popularity with younger users. The shares, while up by 12% over the year, are down by 8% year-to-date. The earnings that Cramer referred to in his remarks were American Express Company (NYSE:AXP)'s second quarter results reported in the morning on July 24th. They saw the firm beat ****** yst profit estimates but disappoint investors on the guidance front by keeping the full year per share profit guide unchanged at $17.30 to $17.90.
While Cramer was focused on the guide and the importance of the results to consumer spending, the debate surrounding Expedia Group Inc. (NASDAQ:EXPE) is broader than that. It primarily concerns the firm's business-to-business (B2B), which covers hotels, airlines and other businesses. The firm's bulls argue that the B2B platform is a growth engine on its own and is not simply masking troubles in the consumer end of the business. Additionally, they believe that Expedia Group Inc. (NASDAQ:EXPE) can use B2B to diversify away from the consumer business marked by high competition. Additionally, they are also impressed by EBITDA margin growing to 25.9% in Q2 and a hike to full year margin guidance. Yet the bears point towards the costs of using AI to expand m

Earnings season can be humbling, so I hope you allow me the opportunity to boast when given the chance. The last time I wrote about Nu Holdings (NYSE: NU) -- on June 3 -- the Latin American fintech was sliding. The parent company of Brazil's fast-growing NuBank was reeling from ******* yst downgrades and mounting headwinds.
I argued that it wasn't too soon to call a bottom on the stock, the same day it hit a 52-week low of $11.20. For now, I was right. Following weeks of upticks and a jump after posting blowout results after Thursday's market close, Nu has jumped almost 40% from its June low.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
I guess it's time for another bold prediction: Nu's bounce is just getting started.
Nu Holdings has come a long way in a short time. The digital banking platform that launched in Brazil just a dozen years ago, in the form of a no-fee credit card for mass-market users, now reaches more than 62% of the country's adult population.

Good news: the UNC football program is starting fresh. With an abysmal 2025 in the rearview mirror, North Carolina is ready to charge forward and return to its winning ways.
The Tar Heels will start a new quarterback for the third straight season, with 2026's competition likely coming down to Wisconsin transfer Billy Edwards and Texas A&M transfer Miles O'Neill. Whoever wins the job, he'll be throwing primarily to Jordan Shipp, who quickly rose to become UNC's top pass-catcher.
Ready to take on an even larger leadership role this fall, Shipp gained some well-deserved preseason recognition on Tuesday, earning himself a spot on the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Watch List.
According to its official website, this trophy honors college football players who lead through community service, while excelling in the classroom and on the field.
Shipp earned All-ACC Honorable Mention in 2025, leading North Carolina with 60 receptions, 671 yards and six touchdowns. Shipp caught a game-high two touchdowns during the Tar Heels' 41-6 blowout of Richmond, while his best yardage output came with 90 yards at NC State.

It sounds nuts, but SoFi1 is giving new Active Invest users up to $3,000 in stock for a limited time, and all it takes is a $50 deposit to get started.2 See for yourself (Sponsor)
Shares of Onto Innovation (NYSE:ONTO) are trading higher midday Tuesday, up 5.9% to $308.51 from Monday's close of $291.35. The semiconductor process control name is riding a positive AI supply chain read-through from peer Camtek's blowout quarter and a broader bid across the group.
The primary catalyst is a direct read-through from Camtek (NASDAQ:CAMT), which reported Q2 2026 results on August 10, 2026. Camtek posted record revenue of $133.24 million, topping the $130.19 million consensus, with non-GAAP EPS of $0.78 versus the $0.76 estimate.

Ivanka Trump was glowing as she stepped out with her husband, Jared Kushner, for a Malibu date night alongside a group of friends, just days after the 44-year-old shared insight into her family getaway to Iceland.

I've been writing about Procter & Gamble (NYSE: PG) for years, and my conviction has never been higher, because the company keeps doing the boring, hard things that compound over time: It protects its brands, invests in innovation, and quietly returns a lot of cash to shareholders even when the environment is rough.
Fiscal 2026 was not a blowout year for Procter & Gamble. Net sales grew 3%, organic sales rose 1%, and core earnings per share increased 1%. That's the kind of result many investors would shrug at. What matters to me is that those numbers landed right inside the company's guidance in a year that featured currency swings, higher energy and transportation costs, and uneven demand across regions.
Continue »
P&G's strategy is deliberately simple. It focuses on daily use categories where performance drives brand choice and seeks to deliver superiority in product, packaging, communication, retail execution, and value. It pairs that with what it calls "constructive disruption" and a heavy dose of productivity, meaning it constantly looks for ways to do the same work with fewer resources. The result is a business that rarely looks spectacular quarter to quarter but, over many years, keeps nudging growth and margins in the right direction.
This is not a sleepy soap company. In April, Procter & Gamble was named the top household products company on Fortune's America's Most Innovative Companies list for the third year in a row, with product innovation singled out as its biggest strength.

SoFi Technologies (SOFI) just gave investors a reason to pay attention, and it has nothing to do with loans or interest rates. It comes down to a single membership product that is growing faster than almost anyone expected.
The fintech company posted a blowout second quarter, but buried inside the numbers was a bold prediction from CEO Anthony Noto about where a new premium membership tier called "SoFi Plus" is headed. If he is right, it could reshape how investors think about the fintech stock.

On July 30, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) released its fiscal third-quarter 2026 report, and the company's shares dropped as much as 10% in the sell-off. This was a striking reaction to a quarter that produced record earnings per share and beat Wall Street's revenue estimates. The drop says less about what Apple just did and more about what investors think comes next: a memory chip shortage squeezing costs, and guidance that fell short of what ******* ysts wanted to see.
Start with the iPhone, still Apple's biggest business by far. Global smartphone shipments fell 6.7% year over year, per IDC data, and Apple was one of only two major manufacturers to grow instead of shrink. Its iPhone shipments climbed 15.3% year over year, outpacing Samsung's 8.1% increase and marking the second straight quarter Apple posted the industry's fastest unit growth. iPhone revenue reached $54.25 billion, up nearly 22% and above the $53.86 billion Wall Street expected. Because revenue grew faster than estimated unit shipments, average selling prices trended higher for the period.
The iPhone 17, released late last year, drove what CEO Tim Cook called an "incredible blowout" quarter, and customers continue to upgrade ahead of Apple's traditional autumn product cycle and expected software enhancements.
Apple is dealing with a DRAM and NAND shortage pushing supply costs higher industrywide, and management expects to pay even more for memory this quarter than it just did. Apple guided fiscal fourth-quarter gross margin to 47% to 48%, down from the 50.1% it just posted, a sign memory costs keep climbing. Apple can either absorb that hit to margins or pass the cost to consumers who are already watching their spending.
That's part of why the outlook disappointed. ******* ysts had modeled 12% revenue growth for the fourth quarter, but Apple guided to just 9% to 11%, with supply constraints expected to weigh on iPhone, iPad and Mac sales. Services revenue also missed, coming in at $30.7 billion for growth of about 12%, the slowest of Apple's three largest categories even as it extended a streak of 12 straight quarters of double-digit growth. That matters because Apple's premium valuation leans heavily on services staying the high-margin engine that keeps expanding.

It took seven innings, but the Tigers ended up with a blowout and a shutout against the Giants with an 8-0 win on Saturday.
After dropping the first game in their series against the Giants, the Tigers were looking to pull even on Saturday evening. They would have the newly activated Jackson Jobe on the mound. Jobe hasn't pitched in about 14 months, so the Tigers would likely have a short leash on him depending on how well he was doing, but it's nice to see him back and healthy. The Giants were leaning on Landen Roupp to get the job done on their end.
The Tigers quickly went 1-2-3 to open the first. In the home half we got the best-case scenario for Jobe, as he also got a 1-2-3 inning.
In the second, Colt Keith got a one-out walk. Spencer Torkelson then singled. This was followed by a Max Clark single to load the bases with only one out. Unfortunately, despite the incredible opportunity to take an early lead, the next two batters were out in order leaving all three batters stranded. In the home half, Jobe had another three-up, three-down inning, but he owed a big thanks to Max Clark for the third out, with a stellar catch that sent Clark right into the outfield wall.
The Tigers went 1-2-3 in the top of the third. In the bottom of the inning, Drew Cavanaugh got a one-out walk, making him the first Giants' baserunner of the game. Jobe got the next two outs to get out of the jam.

Los Angeles Rams first-round pick Ty Simpson is not expected to play a single snap all season long, barring an extreme blowout, though his exact role is still a mystery.
Simpson is serving as the third-string quarterback throughout the first phase of training camp, sitting behind Matthew Stafford and also Stetson Bennett, the former fourth-round pick.
While he won't play in the regular season, Sean McVay confirmed that Simpson will play in the preseason, likely getting a ton of run, though Bennett's status is still unknown, per the head coach.
Stafford is getting regular rest as he tries to limit the wear on his back, leaving a ton of snaps open for the quarterbacks, but so far, Bennet is getting most of them.

Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano hosted his first press conference of training camp last Tuesday on August 4. In the beginning of the press conference, Schiano announced that defensive back Zilan Williams is out for the season with injury while EDGE Canaan Edwards is no longer with the program.
Schiano did not go into detail about William's injury besides saying that he is done for the season. Williams, a senior, was mostly used in a reserve role at cornerback and on special teams as well. Williams did appear in all 12 games last season, mostly on special teams, where he recorded 4 total tackles. He has appeared in 25 games and made 6 total tackles during his 4 seasons so far at Rutgers.
Canaan Edwards came to Rutgers as a part of the 2025 recruitment class and was listed as a three star athletes by 247Sports when he committed. He only appeared in one game last season, the Scarlet Knights blowout win against Norfolk State. It is currently unknown why he decided to leave the program.
Neither scenario is exactly uncommon for the start of training camp for any team, as their is usually a bit of off-season attrition for most teams.
Schiano also takes the time to discuss other things in the press conference, such as how he thinks this team has the most depth out of any team he has had since being back and how he thinks the change in the strength and conditioning program under new coach Spencer Brown has changed the team for the better overall.

BOSTON — New Red Sox catcher Adley Rutschman spent his fourth day with the club doing a full battery of baseball activities Friday, and there's a sense among club decision-makers that he could return from the injured list and make his club debut rather soon.
Rutschman, who is on the IL with wrist inflammation, could go out on a rehab **** ignment as soon as this weekend, interim manager Chad Tracy said Friday, though no decision has been made on a specific date yet.
"It's possible. I'll just leave it at that," said Tracy. "We have not discussed an exact date on that yet. He's doing some more stuff today, doing some more check-ins. We're still ironing down what's going to happen there based on how he feels and what everybody thinks. We don't know yet, but I'd answer that and say it's possible."
(UPDATE: Rutschman will begin a rehab **** ignment in Worcester on Saturday, Tracy said after Friday's blowout win over the A's.)
Rutschman last played in a game for the Orioles on July 18 in Houston before being sidelined with the wrist injury. When the Red Sox acquired him Monday for a package of Carlos Narváez, Anthony Eyanson, Kyson Witherspoon, Enddy Azocar and a player to be named later, they knew he wouldn't take the field right away. Boston's medical staff has taken the past four days to gather information from Rutschman about how he feels.

Just a few weeks out from starting their 2026 football campaign, the North Carolina Tar Heels are hoping their mix of returners and offseason additions propel them to heightened success.
UNC trudged to a 4-8 record in 2025, with anticipation from Bill Belichick's hiring quickly dying out during the blowout loss to TCU. North Carolina beat Charlotte and Richmond in consecutive September weeks, then didn't win again until a Halloween victory over Syracuse.
One of the Tar Heels' best 2025 surprises came in the form of defensive end Melkart Abou Jaoude. On Tuesday, Abou Jaoude earned himself a nomination to the Bronco Nagurski Award Preseason Watch List, an award annually given to the best defensive player in college football.
Abou Jaoude continued UNC's recent trend of promising pass rushers, leading his teammates with 12 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks. The Delaware transfer's best stretch came during late October/early November, when he totaled eight sacks between a 2-1 stretch for North Carolina.
The Tar Heels lost most of their other 2025 pass-rushing production. Tyler Thompson (7.5 TFLs, seven sacks) transferred to Louisville and Andrew Simpson (nine TFLs, five sacks) graduated, while CJ Mims (2.5 TFLs, two sacks) transferred to Texas A&M.

The Atlanta Dream lost in a blowout to the Las Vegas Aces on Monday night, 109-87. As embarassing as the final score was, Dream superstar Angel Reese, whom the franchise acquired this offseason via a trade with the Chicago Sky, was dominant.
Reese scored 23 points and 16 rebounds while posting -3 +/- , which was especially impressive given the 22-point loss. Still, Reese faced heavy criticism for getting blown out. On Wednesday, she and the Dream got a crack at redemption against the Phoenix Mercury and didn't waste it.
Atlanta defeated Phoenix, who acquired star point guard Kelsey Plum at the trade deadline, 96-82, and Reese showed why she's been an All-Star every season since she was drafted in 2024.
The forward finished the game with yet another double-double, scoring 14 points on 7-for-14 shooting and snagging 10 rebounds to boot. Despite her impressive numbers, there are fans who are convinced Reese isn't "good at basketball" after watching a collection of plays from Wednesday's contest.
"I get so tired of the gaslighting done with this one. She is just simply not good at basketball. She has long arms and that's it," one fan posted on X.
