Lady Gaga previously said her top priority as a mom would be giving her child a safe, happy childhood
Gaga and Michael Polansky, first linked in 2020, welcomed their first baby together this summer
A source told PEOPLE that the couple took time off work to focus on their baby and are said to be thrilled about parenthood
Lady Gaga previously discussed what kind of mother she'd be before welcoming her first baby.
Before news broke on Friday, Sept. 11, that the "Born This Way" singer, 40, and her fiancé Michael Polansky, 42, had welcomed their first baby together, Gaga appeared on The Howard Stern Show in July 2025 in the midst of her Mayhem Ball tour.

Howard Stern broke his silence months after a mass layoff of his radio show staff.
"I've never had a summer where I was treated so well in the press," Howard, 72, said sarcastically during his Monday, September 14, season premiere of Sirius XM's The Howard Stern Show, The U.S. Sun reported. "It was so positive. I can't believe it. I can't tell you how many different people have called me a scumbag."
As Globe previously reported, the shock jock has faced backlash for reducing his show to just one episode per week and making a lucrative deal to stream it on HBO Max — amid massive staff layoffs.
Some former employees also spoke out, claiming they were told not to speak to him at company parties, telling the U.S. Sun that "people have actually gotten fired for it."
"I'm the one who pays for the Christmas party, and then they throw a big party, and I don't let anybody look at me,"Howard sarcastically added on Monday.

The energy outside Cipriani, in Lower Manhattan, across from the Charging Bull statue on Broadway, seemed conspicuously suspended in a different time. It was as if crossing the threshold into the Financial District sent me back a decade, to the genesis of this current generation's cultural aesthetic—to the lines at VFiles, the SoHo clothing store whose Howard St. storefront once served as epicenter of the nascent fusion of the worlds of streetwear, hip-hop, and high fashion. All of this was because Kai Cenat, the popular Twitch streamer and content creator, was making his runway debut. The fashion show for his brand Vivet's first collection drew a crowd of the current generation's innovators, giving a reminiscent feeling to the last time a popular figure came crashing through the gates of mainstream fashion.
In attendance that night were popular streamers like Jasontheween, Rakai, and Duke Dennis, alongside more traditional celebrity names: Jaden Smith, Luka Sabbat, Lauryn Hill (!). Popular fashion podcasters and journalists from the New York Times filtered through the crowd as well. It reminded me of the pre-pandemic days of fashion week pop-ups in the shadow of Ye's YZY Szn launches, when the crowds outside seemed as consequential as whoever had a seat inside. Social media had given a generation of streetwear obsessives and aspiring artists a way to build their own audiences, and fashion was beginning to accommodate them. At Cipriani, the streamers had brought another audience into the room.

The UConn Huskies (1-1) struggled to stay above water in their 38-14 loss to the Maryland Terrapins (2-0).
Paving the way for Connecticut, quarterback Kalieb Osborne completed 10 of 21 (41.7%) passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns. Osborne also led with 62 rushing yards, while running back Kenji Christian posted 21 yards. In the air, Shamar Porter paved the way with 62 receiving yards and an end zone appearance. JD Willoughby followed with 36 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, cornerback Zion Paret racked up 12 tackles (six solo) and K'Von Sherman tallied nine (four solo).
As for Maryland, Malik Washington landed 34 of 41 (82.9%) throws for 347 yards and two touchdowns. In the backfield, running backs Iverson Howard and Harry Dalton III rushed for 57 yards and crossed the goal line three times. At wide receiver, Na'eem Abdul-Rahim Gladding led with 130 yards and a touchdown. Behind him, Chris Durr Jr. registered 103 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, linebackers Sidney Stewart and Carlton Smith recorded six tackles and Stewart earning a sack.
"There weren't any adverse moments in our first football game. This is a whole different animal," Head Coach Jason Candle said. "They were going to try and lean on us and run the ball down your throat; play up in the face of your receiver. They're going to play pressure-style defense and we're going to figure out how we're going to respond."
To kick off the game, UConn and Maryland traded end zone appearances. With just under five minutes remaining in the opening quarter, Connecticut struck first. After forcing a quick three-and-out, the Terrapins punted from their 14-yard line. Wide receiver Julian Allen's 18-yard return spotted the ball at Maryland's 32-yard line, but a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty backed it up to the 47-yard line.

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — Marty Whims II got to experience the joy and frustration of being the offensive coordinator for a Football Bowl Subdivision team on Saturday.
Unfortunately, it lasted for only four plays.
Akron was moving the ball on its first possession against Robert Morris when wide receiver Marcel Williams fumbled at the Colonials' 37-yard line. David Johnson recovered the ball after Tasheen Howard and Jake Lopinto forced the fumble.
"We moved the ball, got some first downs. I thought we were going to get a touchdown if we didn't fumble," Whims said shortly after his OC stint ended.
Whims got to call plays as part of Akron's "Offensive Coordinator of the Game" for its home opener. The 46-year-old Whims — a longtime season-ticket holder — graduated from Akron and is the chief financial officer for Stark Enterprises.

The NFL played two of its 16 Week 1 matchups, Wednesday's New England Patriots-Seattle Seahawks opener and Thursday's San Francisco 49ers-Los Angeles Rams game in Melbourne, and now waits until Sunday for the rest of the slate.
College football fills that gap tonight, and it's doing it with the No. 1 team in the country walking into Austin. Ohio State takes on Texas at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC, a rematch of last year's opener that the Buckeyes won 14-7, except this time, both programs enter ranked in the top four.
The marquee matchup arrives at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC, when No. 1 Ohio State visits No. 4 Texas in Austin. In that same primetime window, Louisiana Tech visits No. 8 LSU on SECN+, and No. 13 Texas Tech travels to Oregon State on CBS.
The day opens with a stacked noon slate with No. 6 Oregon at Oklahoma State on ESPN, Howard at No. 5 Indiana on Big Ten Network, Arizona State at No. 10 Texas A&M on ABC, No. 11 Oklahoma at Michigan on FOX, and No. 16 Penn State at Temple on ESPN2.
That Indiana game is worth watching for a different reason, with the Hoosiers entering as the reigning national champions.

If you think Army is going to run over, around and through the South Florida defense the way the Black Knights did against Bryant in week one, think again.
There were a lot of positives to draw from as Army rolled up a school-record 648 yards of total offense and 569 rushing yards on the way to a 59-3 victory over Bryant. With a rout in progress, Army went deep into its bench and utilized 16 different ball carries, including three quarterbacks.
South Florida is not Bryant. The Bulls feature a defensive front that averages 6-foot-3, 293 pounds per man (Major Dillard is 330 pounds at nose, Asani Redwood is 300 at tackle and Michael Williams is 250 at end), compared to the Bryant squad that averaged 30 pounds less. Jump to the linebackers, and USF features a group that averages 6-3, 233 pounds, more than a dozen pounds heavier than the similar Bryant unit. You can also expect South Florida's defenders will be quicker to close off the edges, perhaps cutting off Army's success on the perimeter.
The Bulls held Florida International to 80 yards on 25 carries in a 19-9 win on the evening of Sept 5. FIU did roll up 301 yards of passing, on 62% of completed throws, but run-dominant Army has not been a passing threat for many years.
Based off last week's starting lineup (the Bulls do not release depth charts to the media), the South Florida defense fields nine starters who transferred in from other Division I schools. Linebackers C.J. Hicks (Ohio State), Grayson Howard (South Carolina and Florida) and Sam Robinson (Rutgers) played Power 4 ball, as did Redwood (West Virginia) up front. Corner Teddy Foster (Florida) and 'Star' Amanio Fortenberry (Kansas State) help anchor the secondary.

Howard Stern's wife, Beth Stern, is looking on the bright side as the radio host prepares for a major change to his longtime show.
Beth, 54, opened up about her husband's new schedule and HBO Max deal while attending the Alice + Olivia show during New York Fashion Week, according to a Daily Mail report published Thursday, September 10. Howard, 72, is cutting back to one new live Sirius XM show per week, while a video version of his program will stream on HBO Max each Thursday.
"It's actually great for me, because he's now going to start only working one day a week — so I get more Howard at home and he's still connected to the world, so it's a win-win for all of us," Beth said, per the report.

The new arrangement comes amid a shakeup at Sirius XM that saw Andy Cohen take over Stern's Howard 101 channel, the outlet reported. Stern will continue broadcasting his weekly live show on Howard 100 and working primarily from the studio at his Hamptons home.

The Milwaukee Brewers are not an organization known for producing many power bats, but rather a team that focuses on developing toolsy players to play their style of baseball.
However, Andrew Fischer seems to be an exception. In a Minor League system full of players like Brice Turang, the Brewers have a player who's more Kyle Schwarber than anyone else. Andrew Fischer blasted his 47th home run of the Minor League season on Thursday, the most by a player since the turn of the century. However, his strikeout rate makes him an atypical Brewer.
His 47th home run passed Ryan Howard's 46 Minor League home runs in 2004 with the Philadelphia Phillies organization. Fischer is the first player to reach the 47 home run mark in a Minor League season since Tony Solaita in 1968.
Fischer's historic season is not over yet, as the Brewers' Double-A affiliate, the Biloxi Shuckers, still have four regular-season games left.

Former Tennessee baseball star Andrew Fischer made history on Sept. 10, crushing his 47th home run of the season to break Ryan Howard's record for the most by a minor leaguer this century.
Fischer passed Howard, who hit 46 homers in 2004, with a solo shot to right field for the Biloxi Shuckers, the Milwaukee Brewers' Double-A affiliate. Fischer is the Brewers' No. 5 prospect and is hitting .272 with 113 RBIs between High-A and Double-A in 2026.
Fischer, a corner infielder, has hit the fifth-most home runs in a minor league season dating back to 1963, when the modern era began. He is eight home runs behind the all-time record of 55 home runs in a single season, set by Bill McNulty in 1974 with Triple-A Sacramento. That season, Sacramento played at Hughes Stadium at Sacramento City College, which had a left-field wall only 233 feet away from home plate.
The most recent player to hit 50 home runs in a minor league season was Ron Kittle in 1982 with Triple-A Edmonton. Biloxi only has three regular season games left for Fischer to reach that mark.
Fischer has been on a tear since being called up to Double-A. His latest home run was his 27th in 69 games with the Shuckers — a 54-homer pace for a full 138-game Double-A season. He finished with the seventh-most homers in High-A (20) despite not having played there since June 13.

Nvidia (NVDA) Jensen Huang was seated next to US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick on a G20 stage on Sept. 2, recalling the first time the two of them met, when he put a number on what the world is about to spend. "You recognize that the infrastructure buildout is not going to be in the tens of billions, but is going to be in the tens of trillions," Huang said. "That supply chain security is going to be necessary."
The venue was the US-hosted G20 innovation ministerial in Chapel Hill, NC, and the chief executive was in a fireside conversation with the Commerce secretary. Sam Altman appeared at the same event. The exchange was carried live and the "tens of trillions" line went out the same afternoon across the wires.

ESPN's "College GameDay" was back last weekend for Lane Kiffin's LSU debut, and in Week 2, it will air live from one of the most anticipated regular-season games of the 2026 season. GameDay will be at Ohio State vs. Texas in Austin, Texas.
GameDay starts at 9 a.m. ET on ESPN and runs until noon on Saturday, Sept. 12. The crew consisting of Desmond Howard, Kirk Herbstreit, Nick Saban and Pat McAfee will have their game picks and all the Week 2 ****** ysis.
In recent years, GameDay has been criticized for prioritizing SEC games over traveling across the country to showcase other college game-day atmospheres. This week, however, GameDay did not mess around, selecting the marquee matchup of the week between the Longhorns and Buckeyes. Other options included Kentucky hosting Alabama and Oklahoma at Michigan, but even those aren't top-4 battles like Texas-Ohio State.
Actor Glenn Powell, who completed his undergraduate degree at Texas, will be the celebrity guest picker.
The show also already announced that it will attend the LSU at Ole Miss game in Week 3.

Players rarely get fined during the preseason, but it does happen. One instance of that came this past week when the NFL fined Cleveland Browns offensive tackle Tytus Howard.
He was fined $12,537 for what they described as unnecessary roughness during the first preseason game against the Chicago Bears. Howard got a 15-yard penalty for tripping on the play he was fined for. Pro Football Talk reported the news of the fine.
Howard is in his first year with the Browns after being traded from the Houston Texans for a fifth-round pick.
He is one piece of an offensive line that has four new starters in 2026. Howard is joined by top draft pick Spencer Fano, who plays the opposite tackle spot. The interior is made up of Teven Jenkins, Zion Johnson, and Elgton Jenkins.

Cleveland Browns offensive tackle Tytus Howard picked up his first career league penalty after drawing a five-figure NFL fine over a preseason infraction. The discipline hit the veteran lineman shortly after arriving via trade and securing a two-year, $45 million extension to anchor Cleveland's front line.
The costly personal foul occurred during early exhibition play as Cleveland works through major offensive line adjustments. Howard faces immediate pressure to stabilize protection while building chemistry alongside four new starting teammates.
Howard was penalized during Cleveland's August 15 preseason game against the Chicago Bears. QB Deshaun Watson had just gained five yards on a scramble when Howard was called for a 15-yard tripping penalty.
"The NFL fined Howard $12,537 for what it deemed unnecessary roughness during the first quarter of the first preseason game. Howard got a 15-yard penalty for tripping on the play," NBC Sports reported. "The $12,537 fine was the biggest fine the NFL has announced for the 2026 preseason, although the league has not yet announced any fines for the third and final week of the preseason."

There is a reason Matt Campbell wanted to bring Rocco Becht from Iowa State to Penn State once he took over as the head coach in Happy Valley. Becht gave Campbell and Penn State an experienced starter at the most important position on the football field, and that veteran presence was shining in the season opener against Marshall.
Becht passed for 271 yards and four touchdowns to four different wide receivers in Penn State's 45-0 victory over the Thundering Herd. With Becht leading the offense, Penn State put points on the scoreboard on each of their first three possessions in the first quarter. Becht took advantage of his existing chemistry that carried over with a handful of former Iowa State teammates like Brett Eskildsen, Chase Sowell, and tight end Ben Brahmer (all three caught one of Becht's touchdown passes), and he may have found a new favorite go-to target in Koby Howard, who had a game-high 161 receiving yards.
"I thought Rocco was really efficient today in terms of, you were getting eight, nine guys in the box, you were getting a lot of pressure," Campbell said when discussing Becht's performance in Week 1. "I didn't know exactly what to expect, and I think for Rocco to be able to handle that and distribute the ball, sometimes being a great quarterback is like being a great point guard, you got to be a great distributor of where the ball needs to go, and I thought he was outstanding today."
The success of the passing game, including when backup quarterback Alex Manske came in to relieve Becht in the second half, helped make up for a pretty slow start for the running game. Penn State had just 62 rushing yards at halftime and never seemed to find cracks for some big gains on the ground. The rushing yardage piled up a bit more in the second half as the bench started getting some time on the field. Carson Hansen led the Nittany Lions with 48 rushing yards and Cam Wallace picked up 47 yards once he got some playing time in the second half with the game well in hand.
A slow day on the ground from the starters didn't seem to bother Campbell too much in his postgame press conference, although it will certainly be something to watch in the coming weeks. But as long as the football is moving down the field, Campbell seems satisfied with the end result.

Penn State faced Marshall as a 23.5-point favorite in week one, crushing expectations with a 45-0 victory. They have now opened as Temple with the same line – as a 23.5-point favorite in week two over the Owls.
The Nittany Lions kicked off the Matt Campbell era with a satisfying shutout victory, with strong performances in all three phases of the game. Rocco Becht had a career-high four passing touchdowns before exiting the game early in the third quarter. Koby Howard had the breakout performance that Nittany Lion fans have been waiting for, catching six passes for 161 yards and a touchdown. The Penn State defense swarmed Marshall all game long, with Caleb Bacon among the top performers with four TFLs in a game where he seemed to nearly always find himself in the Herd backfield.
Temple also began the season on a winning note on Saturday, taking down Rhode Island 38-14. Former Penn State quarterback Jaxon Smolik was four-of-six passing for 57 yards and a touchdown for the Owls, while running back Keveun Mason had 192 yards from scrimmage and two scores.
Penn State will visit Temple for its first road game of the season on Saturday. Kickoff is set for noon with the game airing on ESPN2.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) — DeJuan Williams scored on a 94-yard run in the first quarter, the first of six rushing touchdowns for Maryland in a 62-0 rout of Hampton on Saturday night.
Williams and Iverson Howard scored twice each for the Terrapins in their season opener, and Harry Dalton III and Jianni Davis had a touchdown apiece. Malik Washington and Cardell Williams each threw for a TD as well.
Maryland outgained the Pirates (1-1) 646-85 in Hampton's first-ever game against a Power Four team.
Williams' long run to open the scoring was the second-longest in Maryland history, topped only by a 98-yarder in 1978 by Steve Atkins against Clemson.
Williams also had an 8-yard scoring run and finished with 116 yards on three carries.

Well, it's safe to say that the new-look Nittany Lions understood the **** ignment. In Matt Campbell's first game as the head coach of the Nittany Lions, he had his squad firing on all cylinders in a commanding 45-0 win over the Marshall Thundering Herd.
Quarterback Rocco Becht looked like the most experienced QB in the FBS, and receiver Koby Howard looked like a revelation with 161 receiving yards. On the defensive side of the ball, new defensive coordinator D'Anton Lynn's guys were flying, led by spirited efforts from Tony Rojas and Caleb Bacon.
Here are the players of the game for the Nittany Lions.
You remember when Rocco Becht mentioned that he would try to get Koby Howard over 1,000 receiving yards in the year? They got right to it Saturday afternoon with Howard putting on a clinic.
Penn State fans have been begging for a star receiver, and they may finally have one on their hands. With 6 catches and 161 yards, Howard was the leading receiver on the day and flashed his elite skill set, with one of his catches from redshirt freshman QB Alex Manske being one of his highlight catches on the day.

OTTAWA, Sept 3 (Reuters) - Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said on Thursday his government was ready to sign a trade deal ‌with the U.S. that benefits both countries, adding any agreement would ‌need to have stability and credibility.
"The deal that's possible, that's in the interests of Canadian workers, families and businesses, is also the deal that is in the interests of American families, American businesses, American consumers, and ... we're ready to sit down and strike that deal when the Americans are ready," Carney told reporters ‌in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Carney dismissed recent comments by U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent that Canada walked away from a trade deal because of domestic politics, saying in response to a question, "I don't think, with all respect, appointed, unelected cabinet members in the United States are experts on Canadian politics."
Carney suggested there had been a recent softening in the ‌U.S. approach to any trade deal that could spur further discussions.
"There were a few issues that the United States was arguing right up to the last hour," he said, describing it as an "our way or the highway" attitude before talks broke down last month. "Now, they're not," he said. "So all of ‌a sudden, they don't care about Canadian language or culture and those elements. Well, if they didn't care, they shouldn't have kept them in the deal," Carney said. "It's good. ‌We welcome that."

WASHINGTON, Sept 3 (Reuters) - Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller said on Thursday he is leaning toward keeping interest rates steady at the U.S. central bank's policy meeting this month if the next batch of inflation data shows price pressures are continuing to moderate.
Pointing to the importance of "what we learn" about inflation data for ‌August, Waller told a Reuters NEXT Newsmaker event in Washington that "if there is continued progress toward our 2% goal, then I am willing to support holding the policy rate at its current level."
"I'm ‌going to paraphrase John Lennon here. Give disinflation a chance" and refrain from prematurely raising rates to allow a cooling process to play out, Waller said. In terms of that patience, "I'm not going to say let's wait until next year, but let's just wait and see if we get some improvement on this."
Waller, however, said the data could also move in a way that would lead him to argue that the Fed needs to take action to control price pressures at its September 15-16 policy meeting.

All the pressure is on Team USA at the 2026 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup. After winning the event four straight times, that's now the expectation for newcomers like Paige Bueckers and Caitlin Clark.
In their first test as a team, the U.S. proved it was capable of greatness, defeating China 94-61 on Friday. In the process, Clark and Bueckers proved they are more than ready to represent Team USA.
It was a mostly smooth ride for Team USA, which led by roughly 20 points for the majority of the contest. On the offensive side, Jackie Young and Rhyne Howard led the way for the Americans early before Clark and Bueckers finished late.
Young, who started the contest, finished with 12 points and three ****** ists in the victory. Howard, who came off the bench, helped the team build its lead early, finishing with 14 points.
But Clark and Bueckers finished strong for Team USA. With the team leaning on its youth movement late, Clark closed out the contest with 14 points and 10 ****** ists in her Team USA debut, racking up a double-double. Bueckers also showed out as a scorer, taking over the contest late to tie for the team lead with 14 points.

A housing market crash happens when home values plummet due to a lack of demand for or an oversupply of homes. The factors leading to a housing market crash are varied, ranging from economic recessions to high mortgage rates that make it less affordable to buy a home. A housing crash can have upsides (low home prices) and downsides (losing built-up equity and tighter finances).

So, what's ahead for the housing market in 2026?
Read more: Want to buy a house in 2026? Here's what you need to know.
Despite 58% of Gen Z wanting a housing market crash, according to Clever, experts don't foresee one in 2026. If anything, they see a greater sense of normalcy following multiple years of twists and turns.
"We're not heading toward a housing crash; we're in a market correction defined by stability, not volatility," Hoby Hanna, CEO of Howard Hanna Real Estate Services, said via email. "Today's housing environment is fundamentally different from 2008. Homeowners have record levels of equity, lending standards are sound, and inventory remains constrained. What we're seeing now is a normalization, not a collapse, as the market adjusts to new economic realities. For buyers and sellers, this is a market filled with opportunity and resilience, not instability or uncertainty."

WASHINGTON, Sept 3 (Reuters) - U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick apologized on Thursday for stating ‌that no Americans had died in the ‌Iran war, acknowledging that 18 service members have been killed and he was thinking about Venezuela when he made the mistaken statement.

Lutnick made the comments during an interview with CNBC on Wednesday in which ‌Venezuela did not come up.
"I think the way the president is playing Iran... There haven't been American deaths. It's really just an economic choke-out, which the administration is now executing more broadly, ‌and I think it'll be very effective," Lutnick told CNBC.
Moments before Lutnick's apology, Trump defended the commerce secretary on ‌Truth Social.

The Securities and Exchange Commission has opened an investigation into scoreboard manufacturer Daktronics on Wednesday in relation to an alleged sponsorship deal the company had with Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard.
Daktronics acting CFO Howard Atkins revealed the investigation on an earnings call on Wednesday, and said that they have received requests for information from the NBA. Specifics of the SEC's investigation are not yet known. It marks the first public acknowledgement that the NBA is including Daktronics in its investigation into Leonard and the Clippers.
"As you might expect, we have received requests for information from the NBA. Additionally, the Securities and Exchange Commission is seeking information from us concerning the company and Mr. Leonard," Atkins said. "We take these requests seriously and are cooperating. At this point, out of respect for the respective processes, we will not be providing further comment."
Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers have been under scrutiny and an NBA investigation for nearly a year after an alleged no-show sponsorship deal with the now-defunct sustainability company Aspiration. That deal reportedly paid Leonard million for no visible work in an alleged bid to circumvent the NBA's salary cap.
A report last month from "Pablo Torre Finds Out" claimed that Daktronics also hired Leonard to a multimillion dollar sponsorship deal that didn't result in any work from Leonard. Daktronics built the $100 million video board at the Clippers' Intuit Dome.
