Scott Ferrell has been shaping golf experiences around the world for 35 years. His newest project is the development and opening of Kawonu Golf Club, Greenville's first new private golf club in more than 30 years. Located along the Reedy River, the club is named for the Cherokee word for "duck," honoring the heritage of the people who once called these lands home.
Billed as a course for true golf enthusiasts who value the simple joy and traditions of the game and the camaraderie that comes with it, Kawonu was designed by Andrew Green, one of the most prominent names in golf course architecture. The club will feature member lodging for extended stays, a clubhouse with food and beverage offerings and a state-of-the-art training facility.
Scott took a few minutes to talk about his vision for Kawonu and the unique experience the club will offer its members.
TALK Greenville: Thank you for taking some time to talk with us. You've been creating golf experiences around the world for the last 35 years. When did you know it was time to create something of your own in the Upstate?
Scott Ferrell: Our family moved to Greenville 18 years ago when I was working with the Gary Player Group. The Cliffs brought us here to develop a golf course ***** ociated with a residential community. Living here for almost two decades and remaining close to the golf scene gave me a unique insight into the opportunity and I felt it would be a success. There hasn't been a private golf club opened here in over 30 years. Coming out of COVID, golf is in a really good place, so the timing seems right.

King Charles reportedly takes unusual control over his daily meals. His former head chef, Visen Anenden, says the monarch stays closely involved and pays attention to where his ingredients come from. Anenden, who served as Charles' head chef for nearly a decade, told Marie Claire that the King has a genuine passion for food and takes a keen interest in what he eats.
According to Anenden, as reported by The Royal Observer, Charles prefers seasonal ingredients and often sources produce directly from royal estates. "He's very seasonal, and everything comes from the estate," Anenden explained. "He always wants to know where something has come from, so menus were very particular."
The chef said the menus could also change depending on where the royal family stayed. Meals at Balmoral, for example, could look very different from those served at Highgrove. When the family stayed at Balmoral, Anenden said the kitchen relied heavily on what the estate's garden could provide.
"It would be only what you could source from the garden," he explained. That approach gave Anenden and his team a practical lesson in farm-to-table cooking. "You really learn how the farm-to-fork aspect works, and it's a phenomenal lesson for a chef!" he said.
Anenden also revealed how much food Charles and Queen Camilla eat. The former chef said they watch their diets closely and usually avoid large portions. "The thing with the royals is that they don't eat a lot," he said. "It was always small portions. It's never substantial, loaded plates at all, never," he added.

Chairman Mark Ashton acknowledges that one of the key lessons from Ipswich's previous Premier League campaign was the need to bring in more athletic players "with a different set of physical attributes".

Constellation Energy (NASDAQ:CEG) gave investors a lot to unpack on August 6 with the release of its second-quarter earnings report. The report raised full-year adjusted operating earnings guidance to $11.50 to $12.50 per share and stacked on a run of nuclear contract wins and regulatory approvals tied to its Crane Clean Energy Center restart. The headline story is growth. The details show a company juggling more moving parts than it has in years.
Constellation signed 920 megawatts of new long-term power purchase agreements in the quarter, contracts running 15 to 20 years that won't start delivering power until 2029 through 2032. One, a 176-megawatt deal with Walmart (NASDAQ:WMT), split into two 15-year contracts that start in 2029 and 2030, will fund a 30-megawatt expansion at the Dresden Clean Energy Center, located in Illinois. The batch averages 18.5 years in length, adding to earlier 20-year agreements with Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META).
The bigger prize is Crane, the plant once known as Three Mile Island Unit 1. FERC granted a waiver letting Constellation shift grid connection rights to Crane, and the NRC approved its fuel license amendment, clearing two of the last hurdles before the 835 megawatt unit restarts in 2027 to serve its Microsoft contract. Constellation also filed to extend the licenses of its Ginna and Nine Mile Point 1 reactors in New York out to 2049, stretching value from ****** ets it already owns. Management guided to 20% annualized adjusted earnings growth through 2029, a number that excludes any contracts signed after this quarter.
GAAP numbers moved the other way. Earnings per share fell to $1.42 from $2.67 a year earlier, even as adjusted operating earnings rose to $2.55. Part of that gap traces to a bigger share count after the Calpine acquisition, with average diluted shares outstanding climbing to 360 million from 314 million. The nuclear fleet had a rougher quarter too: output slipped to 44,160 gigawatt-hours from 45,170, and the capacity factor at plants Constellation operates fell to 93.0% from 94.8%, with planned refueling outage days more than doubling to 86 from 41.
There's also cleanup work left from Calpine. Constellation agreed to sell the 606 megawatt Brazos Valley Energy Center to LS Power for $860 million, the last divestiture regulators required, but the deal still needs Department of Justice approval to close. And as a merchant power seller, Constellation stays exposed to regulatory pushback, including from consumer advocates who argue that connecting data centers directly to nuclear plants lets big tech dodge grid costs that land on residential customers instead.

Michael Block was disqualified Sunday from a Staysure Legends Tour event in Aberdeen, Scotland, after he walked off the course 12 holes into his final round of the PGA Seniors Championship.
According to the tour, which is the DP World Tour's equivalent to the PGA Tour Champions, the 50-year-old Block "left the course before completing his round and without completing the necessary process of advising Tour officials of any injury or illness."
Block, who was competing on a sponsor exemption, was also penalized two strokes for arriving late to his final-round tee time, the tour confirmed.
Monday Q Info's Ryan French first reported that Block, who went out in 7-over 43 at Trump International Golf Links, bogeyed the 12th hole and then "walked off the course." French added, citing multiple unnamed sources, that Block "didn't say anything to his playing partners" and that Block "was frustrated with the course conditions."
Block, though refuted some specifics of that report, explaining to Golf Digest's Evin Priest through text messages that he withdrew because of a left-wrist injury and did communicate his reasoning with his playing competitors, Paul Streeter and James Kingston.

SANTA CLARA, CA ― San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan reinforced the confidence he has in veteran Mike Evans and reassured the 32-year-old wide receiver will be ready when it's time to get busy.
Evans was not a participant in the 49ers' training camp practice on Aug. 8. It's just a precautionary measure for the NFL veteran who's dealing with a strained left quad entering his 13th season. The six-time Pro Bowler missed nine games last season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a hamstring injury and a broken clavicle.
Before being limited due to injury, Evans put together a 1,000-yard season every year since he came into the league. Shanahan told USA TODAY Sports after practice that's the expectation for Evans coming into the season with San Francisco. But rest **** ured, he added that they are "being smart" with Evans and his return to practice and football activities.
"Yeah, it depends if he stays healthy," Shanahan said. "If you're a starting receiver you're out there a ton. I forget what it was last year. Maybe hamstring, where he missed time, and when that happens, you miss games."

The Indiana Fever are doing their best to keep the focus on basketball, following weeks of controversy tied to comments reserve guard Sophie Cunningham made about transgender athletes participating in women's sports. After initially doubling down, Cunningham is now calling for the media to recenter the conversation around the team on basketball.

WEST LAFAYETTE — Welcome to a big day in Purdue Athletics history.
Tommy McClelland will be introduced at 11 a.m. Thursday as the next Purdue athletic directory. McClelland takes over for the retiring Mike Bobinski, whose time will end when 2026 expires. And McClelland will have many opportunities to point his stamp on Boilermaker programs.
The 44-year-old McClelland has a rich background in athletics. He was the youngest NCAA Division-I AD when hired to lead McNeese State in his native Louisiana at age 26. He since reached the Power Four level as deputy athletic director at Vanderbilt, where he was a key fundraiser for facility upgrades and the beginning of Clark Lea's hiring as football coach.
Purdue will be his first gig north of the Mason-Dixon line, but stays in tune with universities that emphasize academics. He most recently served as Rice's athletic director, making Purdue his third straight stop at a prestigious ******* ociation of American Universities.
McClelland's background brings several items that may explain why Purdue hired him — the fifth Purdue AD since World War II. We hope to learn today more about McClelland's vision for Purdue Athletics, why he was selected and more. Interim President Mitch Daniels is among those expected to speak at today's press conference.

Sydney Towle's family has shared that the 26-year-old TikTok creator has entered hospice care following nearly three years of treatment for stage 4 bile duct cancer.
Her brother, Austin Towle, announced the change on August 4th in a TikTok post featuring a photograph of Sydney surrounded by relatives and friends.
The family thanked the online community that has followed Sydney's treatment since she was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma at age 23. She has documented her hospital stays, chemotherapy and clinical-trial treatment for more than 1.1 million TikTok followers.
The hospice announcement followed months of difficult medical updates, including the discovery of tumors in her lungs and further growth in her liver.

No surprises here as the TE1 overall in 2025 and 2024 appear in the first tier. The ceiling with these two players is limitless in a way other tight ends can only dream of. McBride posted the third-most points for a tight end in NFL history last year, largely by setting the receptions record at 126. That goes down as 10 more than any other tight end in league history. Bowers holds the record for fantasy points by a rookie tight end. Even in a down 2025 season, his 43.3 PPR points in Week 9—on the back of a 12-127-3 receiving line—are the fourth-most for a tight end since the turn of the century. In both season-long and single-week measures, these two tight ends stand above the rest.
I strongly considered moving Loveland into Tier 1 and Warren into Tier 3. Loveland's final four games (including the postseason) were off the charts. He was targeted 48 times in total and topped 90 yards in three contests. Ben Johnson funneled him a 31 percent target share and a 35 percent air yards share. The Bears asked Loveland to be the centerpiece of their passing attack late in his rookie season and he only got better with more on his plate.
Warren, on the other hand, fizzled out down the stretch, finishing as a weekly TE1 for the final time in Week 12. With Daniel Jones under center, Warren was on pace for a monstrous season. Warren averaged 12.9 PPR points per game in 12 contests with Jones healthy. He was posting 1.9 yards per route run and .21 targets per route. Loveland finished the year at 1.9 and .23. We're likely looking at two very similar seasons if Jones stays healthy. Maybe he doesn't in 2026, but that's not a good reason for Warren to go two rounds after Loveland in fantasy drafts.

The Miami Dolphins are in the middle of their training camp, where the players are learning the techniques that the team's new coaching staff would like them to use when they take the field for the first time in Week 1.
With Jeff Hafley taking over, the Dolphins secondary, which is almost completely new, will likely get some extra coaching points, as that's where Hafley worked before rising up to defensive coordinator and now head coach.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Hafley actually revealed one trait of defensive backs that he hates to see.
"Yeah, I don't ever want to stay blocked," Hafley said. "If you ever show me a corner who's engaged with the receiver and he's letting that receiver block him and he stays blocked, that's not okay with me. Like that drives me absolutely crazy because all that is, is toughness and a mentality that there's no way a receiver is going to stay on me and block me. So you need to learn how to block release and leverage the ball and get to the ball.
"I think when you look at a football team in general, the way I view a defense is when I turn on the tape, whether it's our team or another team, if the corners are physical and they're tackling, it's usually a pretty tough team. It's like when I watch wide receivers, if I'm watching a tape and wide receivers are blocking down the field and they're getting after DBs and linebackers and defensive ends, it's usually a sign that's a pretty tough team. So corners who stay on blocks, that's not okay with me"

A covered call ETF is a fund that owns a portfolio of stocks — often an index like the S&P 500 or Nasdaq-100 — and simultaneously sells (or "writes") call options — either on those individual holdings or on the index itself — against that portfolio. The premiums it collects from selling those options are passed through to shareholders as income, typically paid monthly. That option income is what powers the eye-catching yields these funds advertise.
The strategy is called covered because the fund actually owns the underlying stocks it's writing options against as opposed to a naked call, where the seller doesn't own the shares. Owning the stock covers the obligation, capping the risk of the options position itself.
To understand the yield, you need to understand what a call option is. When you sell a call option, you give the buyer the right to purchase a stock from you at a set price (the "strike price") at or before a set date. In exchange, the buyer pays you a fee upfront, known as the premium.
If the stock stays below the strike price, the option expires worthless, the buyer walks away, and you keep the premium as pure profit. A covered call ETF does this over and over, month after month, across its entire portfolio, collecting a steady stream of premiums that it distributes to shareholders. That's the income engine.
The premium is larger when the underlying stock is more volatile — which is why covered call funds on volatile **** ets (tech stocks, or single names) can advertise dramatically higher yields than those on the broad, steadier S&P 500.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Ezequiel Duran drove in four runs, the last on a game-ending double, and the Texas Rangers beat the San Francisco Giants 5-4 on Tuesday night to snap a season-worst six-game losing streak that knocked them out of the AL West lead.
Duran won it with a hit that bounced into the right-field seats, an inning after he lined a one-hopper off that wall for a two-run double that put the Rangers up 4-2. He also had an RBI single in the first inning, a night after going 4 for 4 in the series opener.
Jake Burger, who entered in the top of the ninth as a defensive replacement, led off the bottom of the inning with a double off Dylan Smith (0-4), the sixth Giants pitcher.
San Francisco got even in the ninth when pinch-hitter Bryce Eldridge hit a two-run single off All-Star closer Jacob Latz (3-1). It was Latz's third blown save in 24 chances this season. He allowed two hits, a walk and a wild pitch.
Corey Seager and Brandon Nimmo both had three hits for Texas. Seager, the two-time World Series MVP who has missed 54 games this year because of three stays on the injured list, is hitting .201 — the first time he's been over .200 since May 8.

The St. Louis Cardinals (56-57) and New York Yankees (63-50) continue their three-game series tonight at Yankee Stadium.
Its been a challenge offensively for these teams for much of the season, but last night the bats were alive as the teams combined for 20 runs and 23 hits as the Cards rallied in the eighth inning to win 13-7. Alec Burleson put on a show all by himself with three home runs and six runs batted in but he was not the only player who went yard. Jimmy Crooks and Nathan Church also homered for St. Louis and the Yankees went deep five times. Recently acquired Luis Garcia Jr., Ryan McMahon, Trent Grisham, Jose Caballero, and Austin Wells circled the bases for the hometown Pinstripes. Buried behind all the offensive fireworks was a poor outing from Cam Schlittler who walked five and gave up four hits and four runs over just three innings.
With the loss New York dropped to 3.5 games behind the Rays in the AL East while the Cardinals kept pace in the NL Wild Card chase with the win.
St. Louis is expected to turn to right-hander Hunter Dobbins (2-1, 3.74 ERA). The 26-year-old has been inconsistent this season. Last Monday he allowed seven hits and four runs over 5.1 innings against the Cubs. The previous Wednesday, though, Dobbins threw six shutout innings against the Angels. The Yankees counter with Ryan Weathers (4-7, 3.99 ERA). The southpaw has been sharp his last two starts allowing just nine hits and one earned run over 12.2 innings.
After Monday's offensive explosion, the biggest question entering Game 2 is whether the sudden offense stays around or if either side's pitching regains control.

The New York Yankees have been without Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton for a while due to injuries, but they finally replaced that gaping hole in their lineup by acquiring Luis Garcia Jr. from the Washington Nationals on Sunday.
Garcia is enjoying his best season yet at age 26, batting .283/.313/.560 and leading the National League in slugging percentage. He's also already set career highs with 23 home runs and 76 RBI.
If he stays healthy, the left-handed slugger should be able to reach 30 homers and 100 RBI this year, especially now that he calls Yankee Stadium home. He's also under team control through next year, so he isn't a rental.
