Health policy has quietly become a stock-moving variable in 2026, and the figures are significant enough to matter. Approximately 2.6 million Americans discontinued ACA marketplace coverage this year after increased pandemic-era subsidies ended at the end of 2025, with health policy experts predicting that total enrollment would decrease to between 16.5 million and 17.5 million by year-end. Meanwhile, the Urban Institute has projected that 4.8 million more people will be uninsured in 2026 as a direct consequence of the lapsed subsidies, with certain HealthCare.gov-reliant states witnessing enrollment losses of 20% or more.
Whether this translates into fewer elective medical treatments is now a hotly debated topic in the healthcare industry, with Intuitive Surgical, Inc. (NASDAQ:ISRG) emerging as the evident casualty. The company's shares plunged more than 12% before the bell on July 17, despite Intuitive maintaining its global procedure-growth prediction for its da Vinci surgical robots. Instead, the selloff was driven by the company's own admission that changes in insurance coverage could impact demand.
US da Vinci procedure growth slowed to roughly 12% in the second quarter, down from where Intuitive Surgical, Inc. (NASDAQ:ISRG) expected to be at the beginning of the year, with a focus on surgeries that patients may defer. On the July 16 call, CEO David Rosa told ******* ysts that customer conversations indicated that fluctuating patient coverage and premium dynamics affect "when patients seek care," as opposed to if they seek it at all.
That reaction came at an awkward time, as a highly public disagreement was already taking place in the sector. Abbott, a major medical device and diagnostics manufacturer, had argued recently that blaming industry-wide procedure weakness on ACA disenrollment was a "flawed ******* umption." HCA Healthcare, the largest for-profit hospital operator in the United States, took the opposite stance, warning earlier of lower surgical demand and an increase in uninsured patients when pandemic-era subsidies expired.
Intuitive's own results now appear to support the HCA side of the argument, at least in procedures when patients can choose to delay. Stifel's response immediately reflected the tension: the firm reduced its price objective to $550 from $670 on July 17 while keeping a Buy rating on the company's shares, despite Intuitive Surgical, Inc. (NASDAQ:ISRG) exceeding expectations in revenue, earnings, system placements, and procedure growth in the same quarter. Both US procedure and installed-base growth have slowed since the 2020-2021 COVID era, with management blaming the slowdown on ACA disenrollment and the basic law of large numbers as the installed base matures.

The Chargers could be at the top of defensive tackle Vita Vea's list after he requested a trade from the Buccaneers.
Ted Nguyen of The Athletic shared the news after Vea requested a trade.
Nguyen added that Vea has a no-trade clause; however, he can choose to resign after this year.
The 31-year-old requested a trade from the Buccaneers after talks on a contract extension have stalled, his agent Collin Roberts told ESPN on Monday. Vea is entering the final year of his four-year, $71 million contract and is set to earn $17 million this season, but none of it is guaranteed.
Vea wants to enter the season with a new contract, and because the two sides haven't agreed on a deal, the Washington product wants to start fresh elsewhere. Last season with Tampa, Vea appeared in all 17 games and finished with 4.5 sacks, 13 quarterback hits and 34 total tackles.

The LeBron James sweepstakes unfolding while Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey" debuted in movie theaters is amusing and worthy of a chuckle.
It took James 25 days to choose the Philadelphia 76ers as his landing spot in NBA free agency, yet, with the fast and furious release of podcasts and the madness of social media, those three-plus weeks felt closer to the 20 years Odysseus spent fighting in the Trojan War and making his way back to Ithaca.
One key difference between James and Odysseus, though, is the heroic graybeard who hails from Akron is not returning home.
So, why did the 41-year-old James decline a third tour with his hometown Cavaliers?
The 76ers, Cavs, Miami Heat and Golden State Warriors were the finalists in the James derby, agent Rich Paul confirmed July 24 on the "Game Over" podcast he co-hosts with Max Kellerman.

The 2026 Major League Baseball Trade Deadline is just one week away. On Aug. 3 at 6 p.m. ET, teams will no longer be able to enter into trades with one another for the rest of the season.
That means the clock is ticking for contenders to decide what they will do in order to bolster their team, and clubs that have more of a grim outlook for the rest of the season must choose whether or not some contracts need to be dealt to acquire more controllable talent.
Atop the list of contenders are the Los Angeles Dodgers, who, at the time of writing, are 67-39 and maintain a half-game advantage over the Milwaukee Brewers for the best record in baseball. The Dodgers already have a lot of star power, but their goal might require additional help.
Los Angeles has the once-in-a-lifetime chance to three-peat as World Series champions, which would make it the first organization since the 1998-00 New York Yankees to do so. If the Dodgers accomplish it, they would join the Yankees and the Athletics as the only organizations in MLB to accomplish such a feat.
So, if the Dodgers are going to use the Deadline to get even better, they are going to have to make a sacrifice, and that might mean losing outfielder Ryan Ward to another team.

Artificial intelligence has become a market that rewards execution, not promises. Investors have poured hundreds of billions of dollars into companies building AI infrastructure, yet leadership can change quickly when technology shifts or customers choose different suppliers. That makes earnings season especially important because it separates companies making real progress from those still telling turnaround stories.
Intel's (INTC) latest quarterly results showed meaningful progress across the businesses that matter most for AI, helping explain why the stock has climbed 322% over the past year even after retreating 27% from the all-time high it reached last month. Even so, the numbers suggest investors may still find better opportunities elsewhere in the AI ecosystem.

Texas A&M's No. 1-ranked 2027 recruiting class is all but complete, barring any last-minute flips, specifically focused on five-star cornerback Joshua Dobson, who is firmly committed to South Carolina but recently stated that his recruitment is "long from over," which provides an opening for the Aggies, especially if the Gamecocks struggle during the 2026 season.
Heading into the fall, third-year coach Mike Elko and his staff are focused on the season at hand, while a long list of priority prospects in the 2028 recruiting cycle are already on pace to announce their commitments, with blue-chip four-star quarterback Donald Tabron already receiving multiple predictions to become A&M's second commitment in its 2028 class.
Under Elko, Texas A&M has been in the running for nearly every top-ranked prospect, no matter the position, thanks to a strong culture and, yes, NIL advantage, and on Friday, it was revealed that 2028 five-star Edge Darieon Prescott is set to announce his commitment on Monday, July 27, and will choose between Notre Dame, Oregon, and Texas A&M.
Coming off his unofficial visit to College Station, Prescott has received a prediction from Rivals to land with the Fighting Irish, but it's important to note that early commitments are almost never set in stone, providing every contending program more than a year to make headway.
Standing 6'6" and 220 pounds, Prescott is your standard elite athlete with immense potential, whose length and bend off the edge provide whichever coaching staff is lucky enough to land him with NFL traits that should lead to a bright future at the next level. Prescott is currently positioned as Rivals' 24th-ranked prospect, 5th-ranked Edge, and 2nd-ranked prospect in Illinois.

Ripple has launched Ripple Mint, a platform that lets institutions mint, redeem, and manage Ripple USD (RLUSD) through one console.
The company also invested in Notabene, a compliance firm, to add identity checks and transaction authorization to its stablecoin network. Standard Custody & Trust Company, a New York-chartered trust firm, issues RLUSD under state financial regulation. Jack McDonald, an executive at the company, called the Notabene deal a step toward globally compliant stablecoin transfers.
"Bringing together $RLUSD, Ripple Payments & Notabene's trusted institutional network to help scale compliant stablecoin payments," McDonald said.
Ripple Mint replaces the platform-only setup institutions previously used for RLUSD operations. Users can choose a web console for manual oversight, or new application programming interfaces (APIs) for automated workflows.
The system tracks transactions in real time and sends webhook alerts for fiat receipt, minting, and onchain settlement. Consistent reference IDs tie every stage together, which simplifies reconciliation for exchanges and market makers.

According to Il Corriere della Sera, Paolo Maldini's decision to appoint Andrea Pirlo as Italy's new head coach is not supported by everyone in the FIGC, while Roberto Mancini is upset with President Giovanni Malagò.
Former Milan and Juventus midfield star Pirlo is set to be appointed as the new Italy coach, with an official statement from the Italian Federation expected in the coming days.
The decision has been made by new technical director Maldini and his advisor Leonardo and will be approved by FIGC President Malagò. Maldini has been given the power to choose the new coach after being appointed as technical director just two weeks ago.
Corriere della Sera confirms that Malagò's favourite candidate was Mancini, yet Maldini and Leonardo had the final word and decided to go for Pirlo instead.

If you're looking for a relatively safe and steady way to grow your cash, consider a CD or bond ladder. These two strategies are designed to manage interest rate risk and provide periodic access to your cash.
But which option is better for your goals? Learn what CD ladders and bond ladders are, the key differences between them, and how to decide which one you should choose.
A CD ladder is a strategy in which you spread your money across multiple certificates of deposit (CDs) with staggered maturity dates. As each CD matures, you get access to a portion of your cash over time instead of waiting for a singular maturity date to access all of your funds at once.
This strategy can help mitigate risk by giving you the recurring opportunity to either renew individual CDs or withdraw your cash. It also lets you take advantage of whichever CD term is offering the best interest rate.

In a promotional video posted to social media on Friday, July 24, agent Rich Paul broke out his famous whiteboard featured on the "Game Over" podcast he co-hosts with Max Kellerman and circled a group of names representing the Philadelphia 76ers in red marker.
"It's Philly. Rich, there's a star by [Tyrese] Maxey's name. Was that a breadcrumb I missed?" Kellerman asked. Paul replied, "Maybe you did. Maybe you didn't, Max. But it's Philly."
Yes, Akron native LeBron James announced on July 24 he will sign with the 76ers instead of the other top suitors vying for his services in NBA free agency — the Cavaliers, Miami Heat and Golden State Warriors. James will join the Sixers on a two-year, $8 million contract, which includes a player option for the 2027-28 season, Paul told ESPN.

Investors seeking financial exposure can choose between the broad-market State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (NYSEMKT:XLF), which offers low-cost diversified access to the sector, or the more targeted State Street SPDR S&P Bank ETF (NYSEMKT:KBE), for a more concentrated bet on the banking industry.
Both funds are managed by State Street (NYSE:STT), but they serve different roles in a portfolio -- XLF tracks the heavyweights of the S&P 500's financial sector, while KBE uses a modified equal-weighted strategy to provide exposure to banks across the market cap spectrum.

Real Madrid have plans to sign a second central defender this summer to come in alongside Ibrahima Konate, who joined from Liverpool at the start of the month. Head coach Jose Mourinho wants another player to choose from when the 2026-27 season gets underway next month, and he’s set his sights on someone from one of his former clubs.
Earlier in the summer, it was reported that Real Madrid had set their sights on Alessandro Bastoni. The Inter Milan and Italy defender is appreciated by Mourinho, who sees him as the ideal final piece for his defensive options. And according to the player’s agent (via Diario AS), there would be a desire to make a move happen in 2026, although there is also no obvious rush to leave the Nerazzurri.
“Bastoni has two years left on his contract with Inter, he loves these colours and right now he is not considering signing for another club. If in the future a club appeared that satisfied both Inter and the player, we could talk about it, but right now there is nothing concrete to suggest a real negotiation. I don’t think he has ever considered leaving Italy.”
David Alaba had been the only natural left-sided option for Real Madrid up until his exit earlier this summer, so it makes a lot of sense to secure an appropriate replacement. Bastoni would certainly be that, so it would be smart if the club’s sporting department were to make a serious effort to agree terms with Inter in the coming weeks.
It remains to be seen whether Real Madrid and Mourinho can get their man. For now, the club is happy to focus on exits, although there is sure to be more incoming activity sooner rather than later.

When the NBA's calendar turned over on June 30, one of the first things the league made a point to do was announce the selection of Hinkle Fieldhouse as the first host of the NBA Cup Final outside of Las Vegas.
The IndyStar contacted the NBA to get a better sense of the process by which the league arrived at the decision to choose Hinkle. The league responded by e-mail with answers to the Star's question's from NBA Executive Vice President and Head of Global Events Kelly Flatow.
The Q&A follows.
Question: I recall Commissioner (Adam) Silver suggesting college arenas as a possibility last year. What sparked his and the league's interest in making the change out of Las Vegas and what drove the league to look at college arenas?
Answer: (The NBA referred to commissioner Adam Silver's quote from an interview in December, 2025.) “We’re talking with Amazon Prime about whether it makes sense to maybe go to some unique locations for the final game. They have suggested, for example, some storied college arenas so we’re just looking at other ways we can do this.”

After failing to win a chance at training camp to secure a spot as one of Lamar Jackson's backups, former Ravens quarterback Diego Pavia has entered the NFL's waiver system.
If unclaimed, what's next?
He could choose to wait for another NFL opportunity. Injuries could open a door for Pavia to participate in a training camp as an extra arm, which would in turn give him an opportunity to earn a 53-man roster spot or a position on a practice squad.
If there's no NFL interest, Pavia could go to the CFL. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers hold his negotiating rights, and they've made it clear that they are interested.
The UFL apparently has interest, too — if the social-media team has its finger on the pulse of the league's priorities. The league retweeted the announcement of Pavia's waiver by the Ravens with the eyes emoji.

MagomedAnkalaev (-575)
MagomedZaynukov (-290)
MagomedTuchalov (-900)
We admit, we're getting away with a technicality here by notincluding MuhammadSaid in our same-name parlay. After all, Magomed is the Russiantransliteration of Muhammad. Also, good luck trying to search thename "Muhammad Said" without any additional qualifiers and stillgarner any information about the fighter of that namesake. All ofthese Magomeds are rightful favorites, and in the case of two ofthe more expected victors of Tuchalov and Ankalaev, moneyline betsare just not worth it.
Therefore, we pair these three gents together, all of whom haveclear paths to victory against foes who have displayed exploitableweaknesses. Some are giving BogdanGuskov a proverbial "puncher's chance" to win this fight, although he might have some surprise jiu-jitsu in his back pocket.Nevertheless, unless Ankalaev chooses to take things horizontal—heis not nearly as keen on doing this despite his reputation, onlydoing so in his first triumphant meeting against AlexPereira. Against "Poatan," he did attempt a clean dozen shots. While he did not land a single one, the mere threat of the takedownallowed him to get in on the stoic striker and do some work. A fewfaked shots against "Hitman," whose takedown defense has alreadycome into question despite his recent successes, would payimmediate dividends.
We get to the meat of the order. More specifically, the pork. JohnPork. "Wild Chanco" Zaynukov, who actually had his nickname onFight Finder as "John Pork" until specifically reaching out torequest that it be taken down. RobertWhittaker didn't have the same problem when Ben Fowlkes andChad Dundas first crowned him "Bobby Knuckles" in the always-great"Co-Main Event Podcast" and it stuck. Even though DamianRzepecki will hold a slight bit more experience and morestoppages on his ledger, he and Zaynukov stand at differentterraces in their respective careers.

With the 2026 edition of SEC media days wrapping up in Tampa, Florida, on Thursday, the regular season is just over a month away. The Oklahoma Sooners will kick off fall camp in a couple of weeks, all in preparation for the season-opener against UTEP on September 4th.
Head coach Brent Venables, quarterback John Mateer, defensive lineman Taylor Wein, and offensive lineman Eddy Pierre-Louis were the quartet that represented OU during their availability on Monday. While the selections of Mateer and Wein were fairly expected, it was the choice of Pierre-Louis that raised more than a few eyebrows in Sooner Nation. Venables was asked about Pierre-Louis' inclusion in the group, and he glowed about the third-year guard.
"Eddy, he's an alpha," Venables said. "Eddy is a guy that's had to work incredibly hard. I think he was the top-rated guard by many recruiting outlets coming out of high school. Eddy had some things he needed to work on fundamentally, from his body standpoint, flexibility, things of that nature. Eddy has been somebody that has shown up in the facility from the day he got to Norman, Oklahoma with tremendous gratitude."
Venables had previously pointed out that it was difficult to choose the three players who would represent the Sooners in Tampa, lauding the leadership in his locker room.
"One of the many reasons that gets us excited about this year's team is finding the three guys and telling several other guys that were more deserving they weren't going to make the cut," Venables said. "The depth of the leadership we have in our locker room right now is as good as we've had, better than we've probably had here in the five years at Oklahoma. Really excited about that."

Mark Cuban joked that pickleball players could be unlikely winners from the AI buildout.
He quipped that if better AI makes some data centers obsolete, they could be turned into courts.
Cuban said the AI boom isn't another dot-com bubble but could "destroy" VCs, funds, and PE firms.
Mark Cuban joked that the AI buildout could result in pickleball fans having plenty more venues to choose from.
The tech billionaire said during the latest episode of the "All-In" podcast that if AI models and data centers become more efficient over time, much of the computing capacity being built today will become redundant.

There has been a school of thought that Bronny James doesn't have a future with the Los Angeles Lakers and that it is virtually a lock that the 21-year-old guard will be traded to the team his father, LeBron, signs with in free agency this summer.
But Dan Woike of The Athletic recently wrote that the younger James is well-liked within the organization and that "assumptions that the father and son staying linked going forward are false." On top of that report, Khobi Price of the California Post went on "Brock & Alex" of 97.1 The Fan LA and said that it would take "something real" for Los Angeles to want to trade the younger James (h/t BasketNews).
"If LeBron chooses X team, what if X team is willing to send the Lakers, I don't know, a second-round pick for Bronny James? That would automatically make Bronny James the most likely player to go there. Now, what I want to make clear is that the Lakers are more than happy to keep Bronny James," the Lakers reporter said.
"They drafted him in the second round two years ago, they developed him, and they're a fan of him. He has a lot of people who like him within the building. So, it's not going to be one of those situations where they're just going to send Bronny to wherever LeBron goes. It would take something real for the Lakers to want to trade him."
The University of Southern California product showed a bit of improvement this past season, which was his second in the NBA, and averaged 2.9 points and 1.2 ******* ists in 8.9 minutes a game. He shot 38.6% from 3-point range versus 28.1% as a rookie, and after Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves went down with injuries in early April, he had a few decent outings off the bench.

Garrett Crochet didn’t choose to come to Boston, but he did choose to stay here. After making just one start as a member of the Red Sox (on the road in Texas), Crochet signed a six-year contract extension to remain with the organization through at least 2030. He was a standout on the field in his first season with the team, and while he hasn’t been able to replicate that this season, he’s working to endear himself to the community by partnering with Sam Adams for the release of Crochet’s Pale Ale, which is on tap at bars, taprooms and restaurants in the New England area and available as part of the “Our City. Our Beer” variety pack.
“A big thing for me was ingraining myself in the Boston culture, and Sam Adams is really that to a T,” Crochet said.
He isn’t wrong. When the Scots descended upon Boston for the World Cup, they drank the Sam Adams Downtown Taproom out of Boston Lager. He’s also made a habit of dominating the Yankees. In four regular season starts, he’s posted a 3.29 ERA and a 36.8% strikeout rate, as well as 7.2 innings of one-run baseball in the postseason. I conducted the interview from a hotel room in Milwaukee while on a bachelor party, and joked that the bachelor was upset with Crochet for hurting his family team. Crochet apologized but quickly rescinded it upon learning that the bachelor is a Yankees fan.
Crochet hasn’t pitched since April, but the rotation has picked up the slack in his absence. That rotation is comprised largely of huge, left-handed pitchers. Each arm is different, but Payton Tolle, Connelly Early, Ranger Suarez, and Jake Bennett all come armed with a four-seam fastball, cutter/slider, and some kind of breaking ball. Crochet’s best utilized standing on the mound, but because of the similarities with his teammates, he’s able to contribute from the bench.
“There’s much more benefit to the eye test that goes on during a series,” Crochet said. “We’re playing three or four game series and it’s all lefties that we’re rolling out there, so it’s fun to watch … When a guy is in the middle of his start I’m not passing any information, you know, he went into today prepared ready to make the start and has all the information that he feels he needs to have success … if I think someone is really looking not good on the changeup, I think me and Tolle have a little bit more room to exploit [the changeup] given that other teams aren’t planning for it at all against us.”

A customer walks into a café in Peru and wants to pay with crypto. The café accepts QR payments, but it has no crypto wallet or special crypto checkout. At that point, the customer would usually need to convert the funds or choose another way to pay.
KuCoin Pay is trying to solve this problem by offering a shorter route. The customer scans the café's existing payment code and pays from their KuCoin crypto balance. The merchant continues using the local payment system already in place.
In June, KuCoin Pay added QR-based access in Argentina and Peru. A separate rollout connected users with bKash and Nagad in Bangladesh, Mexico's SPEI bank-transfer system, and the MTN and Airtel mobile-money networks in Zambia.
The expansion builds on KuCoin Pay's earlier integration with Brazil's Pix network. Its current support pages also indicate broader QR payment coverage across Southeast Asia, alongside Open CryptoPay support in Switzerland.
Together, these integrations point to a larger ambition: making crypto held in a KuCoin account as accessible for everyday payments as funds in a local payment app, even across markets with very different financial systems.

"Rich Dad Poor Dad" author Robert Kiyosaki says that's why choosing the right teachers may be one of the most important financial decisions a person can make.

When does LeBron James have to make a decision? Next steps to know as 2026 free agency drags out originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
LeBron James' free agency has taken center stage in the sports world, with the 41-year-old expected to choose a new team soon.
James became a free agent for the first time in eight years this Summer, and he is taking his time to decide where he will play next season. In the past, James has been quicker to make a free agency decision, but this free agency for him comes with a different set of priorities than past decisions.
The entire NBA is waiting to see which team James will choose, and that even includes commissioner Adam Silver. There appear to be five teams in the mix to sign James, but no one truly knows where he will sign to play in his 24th NBA season.
Marquee NBA free agencies rarely last this far into the offseason, making James' search for a new team already different. Here's a breakdown of when James may make his decision.

Qu, the intelligent commerce platform for enterprise QSR and fast-casual restaurant brands, announced Qu Pay, an embedded, end-to-end payments solution. A first-of-its-kind innovation, Qu Pay combines four systems: payment processing, guest identity, order intelligence, and capital access into a single layer of the unified platform.
Until now, payments lived outside the core restaurant operating system—treated as a cost center, not an intelligence hub. Qu Pay ends that separation. Every transaction becomes data brands can use to better understand and serve their guests. Qu Pay serves enterprise brands across point-of-sale, kiosks, drive-thru, web, and mobile channels. The platform is already live with multiple brands, including Roy Rogers.
"I've spent my career watching operators treat payments as a necessary evil instead of a value-added capability," said Rachid Hassan, Vice President of Payments at Qu. "We built Qu Pay because operators shouldn't have to choose between running their business and understanding it. Now every transaction feeds both."
