The win came amid all the ruckus around Kiffin and LSU's legal fight with the SEC over their use of former NFL players. BATON ROUGE, La. — Mother Nature wanted Lane Kiffin and LSU to sit for a little bit longer and think about what they've done. Kiffin and LSU responded by hanging a 51-10 score on Clemson. Litigation isn't all they're good at, as it turns out.
Yes, it's early September. Yes, LSU beat the orange off an overmatched Clemson squad that's unranked and yet still overrated. But after a Saturday night in Death Valley where LSU ran over Clemson on both sides of the ball, it's not too soon to declare that Kiffin's squad might just be for real, and a real problem for the rest of the SEC.
"Imagine if we had pro players," Kiffin told ESPN's Holly Rowe as he left the field at halftime, and how you view that statement — proudly defiant or infuriatingly smug — probably depends on whether you live in the state of Louisiana. Kiffin delivered the line after LSU put the finishing touches on a half in which they'd outscored Clemson by 28 points, rushing for 213 yards and 21 first downs while holding Clemson to a net minus-4 yards and a single first down.

The Euro rose quite a bit in early trading on Thursday, but with the jobs report coming out, I'm watching the 1.1640 level. That was where we had seen that massive sell-off. I'm looking for signs of exhaustion to short this. Now, I don't want to get married to this position. This is not going to be a long-term position by any stretch of the imagination, but I think it's difficult to imagine a market that's just truly going to fly ahead of that Nonfarm Payroll announcement. It could, obviously, but I'm looking for signs of exhaustion to start shorting.
The dollar against the Canadian dollar has fallen pretty significantly over the last couple of days, but we have a gap down here at 1.3780 that I'm watching very closely. If we get a bounce from here, I'm willing to go long. Now, keep in mind both of these countries produce their jobs report at the same time on Friday morning, so I'll be out of this position no matter what it does before then.
With that being said, as long as we get some type of bounce, I'm willing to play that V-shaped pattern here as the interest rate differential continues to favor the United States despite the fact that rates have dropped a little bit early in the session.
Finally, the USD/CHF pair. This is one I've been long for a very long time. It is falling apart. Again, like the Euro, I'm kind of watching to see a little bit of exhaustion somewhere right around the 0.8050 level. I'll be watching to see if we get a bounce. That's a place I could go long. But again, I don't want to be in the dollar when the Nonfarm Payroll announcement comes out. So all of these will be very short-term trades at best.

Charlie Woods put himself in the mix after the first round of the Junior Players Championship on Friday.
Woods, a senior at the Benjamin School and son of legendary golfer Tiger Woods, shot 71 (1-under) and entered the clubhouse in tied for eighth place on Sept. 4 at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
Woods was three shots back of leader Esteban Llorente from Colombia at the time he concluded his opening tournament round.
He pulled off a bit of magic on TPC Sawgrass' famous hole No. 17, the "Island Green."
Facing a 134-yard tee shot with no wind and a back-right hole placement, Woods pulled his wedge a bit and for a few seconds, thought he had found the water. Fans standing on a bank behind the hole gave a baseball umpire's "safe" signal, indicating the ball was dry.

On August 18, Commvault (NASDAQ:CVLT) expanded its Cloud Rewind platform, tripling the number of Microsoft Azure resource types it can protect and recover after a cyberattack or outage. The move follows the company's fiscal first quarter 2027 results, reported on July 28, when subscription revenue rose 16% year over year to $267 million. Together, the two updates show a company betting on cloud recovery as its next growth engine, even as some of the underlying numbers complicate that story.
Cloud Rewind sits at the center of that bet. The August update makes it three times more capable on Azure, reaching 62% of the enterprise-relevant resource types available on that cloud. The tool continuously discovers cloud resources, maps how applications depend on each other, and orchestrates rebuilding the infrastructure and configurations an app needs, not just its files. New Protection Groups tie application data and cloud configuration into one recovery workflow, and policy-based protection can auto-enroll resources by tag, region, and type instead of onboarding each one by hand. Allcargo Group, a logistics customer, said the tool let it restore its operational environment in hours.
That kind of speed lines up with how fast Commvault itself is growing: subscription annualized recurring revenue reached $1,054 million in the quarter, up 22% year over year, while SaaS revenue crossed $100 million for the first time, up 39%, and free cash flow jumped 71% to $51 million. Commvault also struck a multi-year deal with Microsoft to sell its resilience tools as a native service on Azure, and Gartner named it a Magic Quadrant Leader in backup and data protection for the 15th straight year.
The numbers also show where the strain sits. Commvault's GAAP operating margin was just 8.2% in the quarter, far below the 22.8% non-GAAP margin the company highlights, a gap wide enough to suggest real costs are being adjusted away. Guidance points to more of the same rather than acceleration: management expects second-quarter subscription revenue of $264 million to $268 million, essentially flat against the $267 million just reported, and it guided full-year non-GAAP EBIT margin to about 21%, below the 22.8% just posted.
Even the marquee Cloud Rewind expansion has a gap built in. Tripling Azure coverage still leaves the platform reaching 62% of enterprise-relevant resource types, meaning well over a third of what enterprises run on Azure sits outside its recovery net, and the announcement says nothing about extending that coverage to AWS or Google Cloud. For a company competing on breadth of recovery, that is a real limitation until it is addressed.

With the Bills ripping up the grass at their new stadium after only two preseason games and installing a new one for the regular-season home opener, various grass experts have sounded off. Tim Graham of The Athletic has collected and published their comments.
The legendary George Toma said this as to the failed field: "That hurts me. That's terrible to happen at all, but so soon? Somebody fell asleep."
Another "award-winning sports agronomist" with extensive experience installing pro and college surfaces, but who requested anonymity for apparent fear of Big Sod, said that it was "the worst sod I've seen in the NFL in my career. I can't even imagine how that could have happened."
Added Tony ***** , sports management professor at Baldwin Wallace University and former Cleveland Browns ***** istant head groundskeeper: "[N]atural turf is safer in a perfect setting. But if you have the situation like you have in Buffalo — and I went back and watched the film — you cannot tell me that field was safer than the artificial turf they just left. . . . I'm never putting Josh Allen on a field in that condition."
