McDonald's India deleted a run of posts from its verified X (Twitter) account on Sunday. Written in the first person, they claimed an unpaid intern was owed ₹60,000, then promoted a meme coin.
The drama arrived at a low point for the stock. McDonald's Corporation (MCD) closed Friday at $255.69, its weakest level in a year. However, Wall Street has not followed it down.
The account said the writer interned at McDonald's India and ran several of the company's Asian social media handles. It named a manager, Amit Joshi, and said no salary had arrived since December 2025.
A later post revised that date to May, an inconsistency that fueled doubt. Another put the outstanding sum above ₹60,000, roughly $650. One said meme coin trading losses had left the writer starving daily.
Final messages promoted a token and shared crypto wallet addresses, before noting that fees had been claimed. McDonald's India pulled the thread and answered with a meme of a dog holding a phone.

AMC Entertainment (NYSE: AMC) is an interesting stock. For a while, in 2021, it was a "meme stock," often in the news and surging more than 1,100% that year to more than $600 per share. The next years were different, with shares crashing 85%, 85%, 35%, and 61% in 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025, respectively. Altogether, that's more than a 99% decline. Ouch!
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
So far, 2026 has been quite different, with shares up about 63% (as of Sept. 4). Still, they were recently trading for $2.67 apiece. In other words, AMC Entertainment's shares are firmly in penny-stock territory. Should you buy shares now, while they're below $3? Maybe.
Penny stocks are notoriously volatile and risky, often tied to young, unproven companies, and occasionally hyped online. They're generally to be avoided. But AMC Entertainment, while definitely not a no-brainer, blue chip stock, is not a typical penny stock. Its market value was recently $2.4 billion, for example. Its last earnings report, for its second quarter, featured revenue of $1.6 billion, up 14% year over year.
So -- should you buy into AMC Entertainment? Here are some reasons you might:

John Cena vs Cody Rhodes headlined WrestleMania 41.
WWE's eclectic portfolio of partnerships doesn't get closer to he center of a Venn Diagram than its budding collaboration with Supercell's Clash of Clans. Already a ***** an in its own way, Clash of Clans has amassed over two billion lifetime downloads. The popular game was recently voted the Greatest Mobile Game of all Time by the followers of Pubity.
Now, in a follow-up to a successful partnership in 2025, Clash of Clans has teamed up with John Cena to turn his forever-memed "You Can't See Me" catchprase into a mobile gaming app. Starting this week, Cena's Clash character is virtually unsearchable. Over the next month, Cena will be waiting for Clash of Clans players to find him throughout the course of their daily raids. The more players raid, the higher the chance they find the living legend. To the victor goes the spoils of a rare Cody Rhodes statue for their village.
I spoke with John Cena in a phone interview about the partnership and how the 17-time world champion is brimming with wrestling-related ideas for his ongoing epilogue.

Reaction to Rutgers' 37-21 loss to UMass came from all quarters of the Internet Thursday night.
From the NFL Memes X/Twitter account to John Fanta to UConn fans, everybody had something to say.
Let's start with the fact that Rutgers paid UMass $1.55 million for the game and then proceeded to lose to a team on a 16-game losing streak, a team that hadn't won a game in 677 days.
Oh, and Rutgers lit off a pre-planned fireworks show after the game.
"Rutgers paying UMass $1.5M to play them Week 1 as 30-point favorites only to lose and then set off a pre-planned fireworks show postgame might be the single saddest thing l've ever seen," posted the NFL Memes account, which has 1.5M followers.

The anonymous leaker behind CyberLeek has reportedly pocketed roughly $350,000, according to on-chain ***** yst Conor Grogan. The funds allegedly came entirely from liquidity fees rather than direct sales.
The withdrawal coincided with a sharp price decline for the CYBERLEEK meme coin.
Grogan stated on September 1 that the person behind CyberLeek withdrew the funds through various OTC providers, a route that converts digital ***** ets into conventional money without requiring large open-market token sales.
That structure differs meaningfully from a typical launch-and-dump scheme. Rather than offloading large CYBERLEEK holdings directly, the wallet tied to the project reportedly profited by collecting fees whenever other traders transacted in its liquidity pool.

GameStop (GME) has more than a meme-stock reputation riding on its upcoming earnings report. The video game and collectibles retailer has been battling a shrinking core business, with sales declining in each of the past four fiscal years. At the same time, concerns about share dilution and the company's ability to drive sustainable retail growth have continued to weigh on investor sentiment. Still, GameStop's preliminary fiscal 2026 second-quarter results, released on Aug. 31, may have given investors something to watch.
The company expects quarterly net income of $290 million to $310 million, almost double the $168.6 million reported a year earlier. But there's a catch. The stronger bottom line isn't being driven by a rebound in game sales. Instead, investment gains, particularly from GameStop's stake in eBay (EBAY), are doing much of the heavy lifting, while quarterly sales are expected to decline to $780 million-$800 million from $972.2 million a year ago.

Conservative pundits Piers Morgan and Ben Shapiro's feud spun out into a days-long social media spat which descended into nasty name-calling, video rants and mocking memes this week.
While the two have been at odds over the Israel-Palestinian conflict for some time, Morgan practically begged for a blow-up when he asked fellow right-wing rabble-rouser Milo Yiannopoulos about Shapiro calling him "a decrepit pervert" and "scuzzbucket" in a rant about the Brit being abruptly deported from the U.S. last week.

When Yiannopoulos chalked The Daily Wire co-founder's comments up to jealousy during his Tuesday interview on "Piers Morgan Uncensored," Shapiro shot back with a testy X post.
"It remains a source of astonishment that in Piers Morgan's world, the defense to charges of moral turpitude is 'look how many clicks I get,'" he sneered.

Sam Altman said concerns about AI water use were overblown but hard to shake.
He said an average modern data center uses as much water as a large office building.
He also said ChatGPT queries use far less water than it takes to grow a single almond in California.
Sam Altman says concern about AI water usage is a "meme" that doesn't actually hold any water.
The OpenAI CEO was asked to respond to resistance to AI, including concerns about water consumption, on the premiere episode of the Sources podcast with Alex Heath, published Tuesday.

BRISBANE, Australia (AP) — It's no secret how the breaking news on Raygun unfolded at the Paris Olympics: the memes and the mockery came thick and fast.
The Australian breaker at the center of it all, Rachael Gunn, has told how she had an inkling of how it might go when she saw a therapist ahead of the 2024 Games.
The trailer for "Untold Raygun: Breaking Badly," a Netflix documentary launched this month, begins with Gunn recounting how she went to the therapist in a panic right before the Olympics and was asked what's the worst that could happen?
"The whole world could laugh at me," she recalled answering, before adding that the therapist responded: "Do you think that's reasonable?"
Cue clips and sounds of hysterical laughing in the wake of her now infamous and much-trolled performance when breaking made its Olympic debut in France.

Being in the midst of a sports reality show really isn't what you'd expect it to be. But then again, "Welcome to Wrexham" isn't like any other sports reality show, so I shouldn't be too surprised by how things turned out.
I ***** umed it would be an experience marked by intrusive camera crews recording our mundanity, which a melodramatic editing process would twist until everybody on the show was an embarrassing meme. Instead, it must be said that the camera crews are positively lovely, accepted within both the club and the town as friends, not an unfortunate necessity.
Rather than create shock value, the show is remarkably good at selecting people and themes. It reflects what I experience, both as a fan of the club and a resident of Wrexham. To illustrate this, consider the one moment in all five seasons which I felt was inauthentic. It came early on, when Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds' representative, Humphrey Ker, endured a disastrous introduction to the players and manager, Dean Keates.
• Wrexham targeting 'quality not quantity' as team boss addresses calls for attacking transfers
• Wrexham bid farewell to back-to-back promotion hero following record-breaking signing

More than anything to do with his expected performance on the field headed into Year 3 of his NFL career, the story of Jayden Daniels' offseason focused on a strange beef that became public with his college team.
The Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback for LSU, who is now the starting signal-caller for the Washington Commanders, sent his former university a cease-and-desist letter over the use of his name, image, and likeness after the Tigers gave his No. 5 jersey to cornerback DJ Pickett.
The story has already been memed to death, but it's apparently no laughing matter for Daniels, who refused to answer questions about it during a press scrum earlier this week.
"Nah, I posted a statement on Instagram and it said everything I needed to say. So, appreciate y'all," Daniels told reporters.
The reporter who asked the question was Nicki Jhabvala, who covers the Commanders for The Athletic. After the video of Daniels refusing to answer the question went viral on social media, some online took issue with asking Daniels about the situation at all.

At one point this offseason, it looked like Tua Tagovailoa might be the starting quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons.
After all, Tua was the only legitimate candidate while Michael Penix Jr. was out of practice for the vast majority of training camp as he continued to recover from a torn ACL.
But here we are a few weeks away from the start of the season and the Falcons still have not named Tua the starter. Meanwhile, Penix has returned to practice.
Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio is now wondering if Tua will even be on the team's roster after the cutdown deadline passes on Aug. 30.

Sometimes the internet reaches more than a decade into the past and pulls out a perfect reaction meme for the present.
That's what happened with an old red carpet clip of actress Zendaya smiling and laughing at the 2011 premiere of Justin Bieber's concert documentary film Never Say Never, which suddenly resurfaced in 2026 as a widely used reaction GIF and video.
Known as the "Zendaya Laughing" meme, the clip is typically used to represent carefree happiness, awkwardly laughing something off or finding humor in a stressful situation. The footage has also inspired green-screen edits, caption memes and more elaborate variations across X / Twitter and other sites.
So, where did the clip originally come from, and why did it suddenly become a meme 15 years later? Here's what you need to know.
The footage comes from the February 8th, 2011, premiere of the movie Justin Bieber: Never Say Never. Zendaya, who was still early in her career at the time, was filmed posing for photographers on the red carpet while smiling and laughing.

Love it or hate it, the world of reality TV has given us larger-than-life personalities who have become household names far outstripping the influence — or run — of the shows that made them famous. These breakout stars have leveraged their viral moments, relentless work ethic, and striking originality into sprawling empires, bestselling products, and global name recognition. Whether they became moguls, cultural icons, or meme supernovas, these reality stars proved that sometimes, fame itself becomes the star of the show.

Kim Kardashian went from reality TV to mogul status, turning her name into a billion-dollar empire. Globally recognized for her beauty, business, and pop culture dominance, she's managed to remain in the spotlight across platforms and through every career evolution. In 2018, she successfully petitioned the Trump administration to grant clemency to Alice Marie Johnson, a grandmother who had spent more than two decades behind bars on a drug conspiracy conviction, according to NBC News.

Jon Stewart recently compared the Obamas' time in the White House to President Donald Trump's.
"I imagine for you and your family that it's a surreal experience for you guys because of the effort that you put into building something up and to watch it be corrupted," Stewart, 63, remarked on the Wednesday, August 26 episode of Michelle Obama and her brother Craig Robinson's IMO podcast. "To have this perversion of leadership, I imagine, is especially difficult to digest. There's a surreal quality to it."
Stewart then pointed out that the former first lady, 62, and her husband, former President Barack Obama, "left money on the table," joking that she could have had "a Michelle meme coin."

Stewart then pointed out that the former first lady, 62, and her husband, former President Barack Obama, "left money on the table," joking that she could have had "a Michelle meme coin."

I recently reconnected with an administrator I met while I was in college. And what transpired was a conversation with a man who is living a wonderful philanthropic life.
Herb Yamanaka was an events manager at the University of Oregon back in the mid-1970s. He used to call me "Pineapple," an inside joke between two people from Hawaii. We'd ******* p into each other at the UO athletic department while I was a student volunteer and gofer and he was on the athletic staff.
It's not often one can chat with someone who was born before World War II, had relatives in internment camps, experienced racism for the first time in college, and was in college before Hawaii became a state.
Guess what, that man is still at UO — all 92 years young on Aug. 13 — as an ******* ociate athletic director focusing on major donor giving.
Yamanaka is gregarious, humble, benevolent and generous. The Army vet once rejected Nike founder Phil Knight's open checkbook offer for a memento and was the wingman for legendary former Oregon football coach and athletic director Len Casanova. He enjoys deep-sea fishing, going three times a year. In early August, he landed a bluefin tuna while angling in San Diego.

Moderna, the American pharma company that became popular for its COVID vaccine, has spent three days trading like a meme stock. Shares exploded 177% on Wednesday after its personalized mRNA cancer vaccine with Merck succeeded in a Phase 3 melanoma trial, adding roughly $30 billion in market value in a single session.
Heavy short covering helped turn a major clinical breakthrough into an extraordinary market move. Then came the whiplash. Moderna fell 23.6% on Thursday, before buyers rushed back on Friday.
Even after the violent pullback and another volatile session, Moderna was still up more than 140% for the week. BeInCrypto ******* ysts now looked at three other US stocks that could potentially have a similar setup.
Moderna's day began with a collapse and a recovery, and Intel has both, sinking to $21.81 before quadrupling to $92.80 in a year, even as chip leaders wobbled.
Its Q2 revenue grew 25.4%, the best in 15 years, and CEO Lip-Bu Tan just put $10 million into the stock at $95 per share.

Happy Birthday, John Stamos!
The handsome actor has shown plenty of skin throughout his incredible career. Audiences fell in love with him as the iconic Uncle Jesse Katsopolis on Full House, but OG fans have been crushing on the heartthrob since his debut on General Hospital in the 1980's.
Stamos was only 18 years old when he first graced everyone's screens, but his latest birthday post is still making heads turn all these years later. In a new photo posted to Instagram, the actor wears nothing in a ****** y mirror selfie in his bathroom. He kept the caption simple by simply putting his age in the bio: 63.
Fans flooded the comments with plenty of Uncle Jesse memes and iconic lines. One user even said, "I shouldn't be referring to you as UNCLE Jesse any longer with the thoughts going on in my head." Another commented, "You and Lenny Kravitz are raising the bar on how to age. Rock on!"
As if his Instagram post weren't hot enough, the talented star is turning up the heat at the perfect time as he's slated to join the steamy Netflix series Hunting Wives for its second season. He's also slated to star in a new political comedy sitcom created by Greg Garcia in the near future.

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Sparks and Atlanta Dream experienced a blast from the recent past during their matchup at Crypto.com Arena on Thursday night.
During the third quarter of the lopsided contest, a spectator hurled a green ****** toy onto the court, sparking flashbacks to last season's spate of projectiles. Angel Reese pointed out the perpetrator right away from her seat on the bench, and he was apprehended by arena security.
The middle of the 2025 WNBA season was marred by several instances of green toys being thrown onto the court during play. The incidents started in late July at a Dream game and continued through the following week, including once at a Sparks game. The trend died out soon afterward and was thought to be linked to a particular memecoin.
This story will be updated.

Nicole Kidman is known for her best films like Eyes Wide Shut, Moulin Rouge and The Hours but, in recent years, she has also become known for being memed on the internet. From her bizarre reaction to Tweety Bird being brought up on a podcast to her very earnest AMC commercials that have inspired Halloween costumes, Kidman is one of the internet's favorite reaction GIFs. Now. she's humorously discussing one of her most memed Oscars moments, and I love hearing her side of the story.
Kidman and Lioness co-star Zoe Saldaña recently sat down for a Lie Detector interview with Vanity Fair. While promoting the much-waited Lioness Season 3, the duo asked each other questions to get their full honest perspectives on their pop culture presences. Saldaña asked Kidman about the viral video of her awkwardly clapping at the Oscars, to which Kidman said she'd never used this popular clip in her own correspondence with her friends, yet did give some insight into why she was clapping like that. She said:
I've seen one where I was clapping at the Academy Awards like that and my hands were…. I've seen that and I was like, 'Why am I clapping like that?' But I had very expensive jewelry on and I didn't want to destroy it.
