The Boston Red Sox are adding a veteran reliever to their bullpen on Thursday.
According to a report from Christopher Smith of MassLive.com, the AL East club has selected the contract of right-hander Tommy Kahnle from Triple-A Worcester.
To open a 40-man roster spot for Kahnle, a former New York Yankees fan favorite who throws a hefty dose of changeups, the Red Sox will need to adjust.
Steve Adams of MLB Trade Rumors wrote Thursday that left-handed starting pitcher Garrett Crochet makes sense as someone who could be moved to the 60-day injured list.

Getting as much as possible out of Nick Woltemade has been debated on BBC Radio Newcastle, with the Germany international having been used as both a striker and an attacking midfielder in his debut Premier League season.
Magpies supporter Martin told Total Sport's Simon Pryde: "If I was in Eddie Howe's shoes, I would be looking at the fact that I've got a player there who is not particularly happy with the way I'm playing him and asking him where do you want to play.
"I'd be talking to Julian Nagelsmann, his Germany manager and his previous manager [Stuttgart boss Sebastian Hoeness]."
Woltemade scored 12 Bundesliga goals last season in his only campaign at Stuttgart before his move to St James' Park.
"Kevin Keegan built the team around Andy Cole when he first arrived - he played to Andy Cole's strengths, added Martin.

Over the past several days, Caitlin Clark has been in the headlines across the sports world after a heated exchange between Clark and Fever head coach Stephanie White went viral on social media. While Clark and White each received their fair share of criticism as a result of the incident, one sports personality is now taking that criticism directly to Clark’s fans.
Earlier this season, longtime sports journalist and personality Cari Champion criticized Clark a bit for what she believed to be constant complaints at or about the officials during games. Champion did not believe that the complaints to the referees worked out in her favor, and she criticized Clark for it – a legitimate basketball opinion.
Apparently, Clark supporters did not appreciate this criticism from Champion, sparking some strong reactions from her Clark’s fanbase. And it sounds like Champion was not a fan of her interactions with the Clark fans.
In the latest episode of the Flagrant and Funny with Cari Champion & Jemele Hill, Champion did not hold back as she offered a pretty strong opinion on Clark’s fanbase after the backlash she received from simply stating a basketball opinion.
“There is that vitriol that comes with her clan of people who support her that I can’t really get behind. I think that I understand if you’re upset and you don’t like her,” Champion said on the podcast. “It comes with all players, but it’s a layer of coded language that feels like racism, I’ve never been called so many n-words, and see you next Tuesdays and jealous.”

The NBA Finals get an attractive matchup this year, although remember, we dont need big markets for a good series, just see Game 1 of the Stanley Cup finals last night.
Two teams who many considered to be a year or two away from being in this position will tip off in San Antonio, with the Spurs hosting the New York Knicks tonight in Game 1.
Some good individual matchups will provide some nice betting options. We’ll start with New York and everything you need to know.

DUBLIN, Ohio — Jack Nicklaus never said he wanted the Memorial Tournament to be the “Masters of the North” when it began 50 years ago. The best sales pitch was to let others do the talking.
It never really came to that over the years, anyway, except it was clear Nicklaus found inspiration from the Masters, the major he won a record six times. It wasn’t about Muirfield Village trying to replicate Augusta National. It was more about the tournament experience unlike any other in the non-major division.
Never mind the caddies in white coverall tops or sandwiches in a green wrapper and coffee in green cups. His emphasis outside the ropes was on players being treated in such a way the Memorial stood out from other PGA Tour events.
But it’s getting harder to stand out in this era of big money and players getting pampered more than Nicklaus or anyone else could have imagined 50 years ago.
The $20 million purse at the Memorial is the same size as nine other tournaments, and that doesn’t include The Players Championship ($25 million), the majors or the Tour Championship, where the $40 million bonus is now official money.

Multiple outlets are reporting that Real Madrid are among the clubs interested in a deal for Inter wing-back Denzel Dumfries, which could have an impact on the increasingly competitive race to sign Marco Palestra from Atalanta.
Dumfries is among the players who could leave Inter this summer due to the fact that he has a €25m release clause in his contract. Reports indicate that this clause will be valid only for teams outside of Italy and that it will expire in mid-July.
According to the likes of Fabrizio Romano and Gianluca Di Marzio, Real Madrid are among the clubs interested in taking advantage of the release clause in Dumfries’s Nerazzurri contract. Di Marzio claims that there has been an initial approach from the 15-time Champions League winners.
Selling Dumfries this summer could help Inter towards coming up with the funds they need to land a deal for Italy talent Palestra, who is valued in the region of €50m.
Reports over the weekend claimed that Inter are ready to make Palestra their ‘priority’ signing this transfer window, although more recent updates suggest that they will face stiff competition from the Premier League from the likes of Manchester City, Newcastle United or potentially Champions League finalists **** nal.

Mirra Andreeva faces Sorana-Mihaela Cirstea in a battle of young versus old. It’s the 19-year-old Andreeva against the 36-year-old Cirstea. Cirstea is set to retire at the end of the season. That would make this her final French Open. Reports this week indicated that Cirstea has no plans to change her retirement decision and keep playing into 2027. It seems that the freedom of not having to play much longer is enabling Cirstea to produce her best tennis. She is relaxing more and worrying less. Cirstea has looked very strong in this tournament. Still, she’s facing a player, Andreeva, who has reached the French Open semifinals before and is very comfortable on clay after having a tough start to her 2026 season on hardcourt surfaces.
Best Bet to Make
Andreeva moneyline is priced at 1.56, just below the 1.60 threshold where a bet has reasonable enough value. So, we’re not going to recommend this as our single bet for the match. What you could do is put Andreeva moneyline into a parlay, but for a single bet, we will go with over 2.5 sets. Cirstea is in excellent form, probably good enough to win one set. Andreeva, though, looks so confident on clay. Also, Cirstea got very nervous near the end of her Round of 16 win over Xiyu **** , suggesting she will get nervous here. Andreeva will win at least one set. If Cirstea wins the first set, Andreeva should bounce back and win the second set. It’s only if Andreeva wins the first set and Cirstea quickly loses confidence that the over 2.5 sets is not likely to cash, but Cirstea is playing so well that she should be able to push this match into a third set if nothing else.

Stephen Curry signs 10 year contract that doesn't involve Warriors originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Steph Curry just finished his 17th season in the NBA.
He's established himself as one of the game's greats, and there's not much left for him to prove, as he's already built up a resume few can outdo.
Retirement might be around the corner for him, but that won't stop him from getting involved in other ventures.
NBA insider Shams Charania put out this statement Monday evening: "Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has signed a shoe endorsement contract with Chinese company Li-Ning -- a landmark 10-year deal, sources tell ESPN. Li-Ning extends his Curry Brand venture globally and encompasses basketball products, athleisure, the ability for Curry to sign athletes under his brand, and a full golf line."

Clemson football added another big piece to its 2027 recruiting class this weekend with four-star offensive lineman Luke Starcevic announcing his commitment to the Tigers.
The Kindred, North Dakota standout picked Clemson over a strong group of programs that included Notre Dame, Kansas State, and Oklahoma, giving Matt Luke and the Tigers another win on the recruiting trail. Starcevic was on campus for the big official visit weekend, and Clemson made the most of the opportunity.
Things moved quickly between Starcevic and the Tigers over the past few weeks. Clemson extended an offer during his unofficial visit in early May, and the relationship continued to build from there. By the end of the weekend, the Tigers had done enough to lock in another major addition to the class.
At 6-foot-5 and 260 pounds, Starcevic brings size, athleticism, and plenty of upside to Clemson’s offensive line group. While some schools recruited him as a tight end during the process, Clemson saw him as an offensive lineman from the start. He projects as a tackle at the next level and gives the Tigers another promising piece up front.
Starcevic becomes Clemson’s third offensive line commitment in the 2027 cycle, joining fellow four-stars Carter Jones and Elijah Morrison. Clemson’s momentum on the recruiting trail has been tough to miss lately, and the Tigers added to it again with another blue-chip pickup in the trenches.

NEW YORK (AP) — Getting to the NBA Finals proves that the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs have made plenty of smart moves along the way.
You need a star, like a Jalen Brunson or a Victor Wembanyama. They need some help. They need the right coach.
But this finals matchup, which starts Wednesday in San Antonio, also shows that there's no one way to get all those things done. Of the 10 players that the Spurs are most likely to have in the regular rotation for this series, six were drafted by San Antonio. Of the 10 most likely to appear for the Knicks, only one was drafted by New York.
It's Biggest Market vs. Smaller Market. Shopping vs. Drafting. Knicks vs. Spurs isn't just a clash for the NBA ***** le, it's a clash in styles as well — with Knicks President Leon Rose seeming to constantly tinker until finding the right mix, and the Spurs building through the draft instead.
“I’ve said it before, I’ll keep saying it: Leon and his staff have done a freaking fantastic, fantastic job,” Knicks coach Mike Brown said.

Former UFC two-division champion, BJ Penn, was ordered by Third Circuit Family Court to undergo a mental health evaluation before answering for multiple charges, including a pair of temporary restraining order (TRO) violations. The licensed psychologist responsible for administering the exam, Barbara Higa Rogers, found “The Prodigy” is mentally fit to stand trial.
She did however, diagnose him with “Cannabis Use Disorder.”
“I got examined by the top person over here, that’s what they really wanted me to do,” said the 47-year-old Penn. “No one can call me crazy now. It is what it is, I said what I said. This is still me — if I’m talking like that, this is still me. How do you know? Because the media and the news still talks bad about me. They only talk good about dead people. I gotta understand, this is just their job. It’s what they do. It’s not personal, it’s business. This is the worst nightmare of my life but it’s not personal, it’s just business.”
Penn was arrested for the sixth time within a six-month period back in November 2025.
“My TRO ends up 12:01 tonight and I came home, the back door was broken in, so I left the property,” Penn added. “I don’t know, I don’t know what’s going on. I don’t know nothing but, just wanna say I’m not suicidal, not anything. Just waiting. I know these guys can do whatever they want. So, you know, hopefully, the conversation can be had amongst themselves. Put yourself in my shoes. Whatever happened, happened. With my family, with the properties, with my money from fighting. Probably 50, 60, you know, how much is involved with, you know, financially, but it’s not what it’s about, it’s about staying alive. And that’s it. Thank you.”
