But, despite being drafted, you still have to earn a spot on the roster. And guess what? 8 of 9 Canes made their team's 53-man roster. EIGHT! And the ninth, Anez Cooper, was placed on injured reserve designated to return after a strong preseason. So, basically all nine made it. Even CJ Daniels, a Rams 7th round pick, made the team, who is the odds-on favorite to win it all this year.

On Aug. 15, the Milwaukee Brewers had lost four of five games on the West Coast and their lead in the National League Central Division was suddenly uncomfortable.
After being swept by the San Diego Padres and splitting the first two games with the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Brewers were only three games in front of the Chicago Cubs with seven games to be played between the two rivals. It appeared a legitimate race for the division ******* le in September was probable.
But the Brewers won the last two games against the Dodgers and haven't lost a series since, winning 10 of 14 games. The Cubs are 1-4 in their last five series and 5-9 overall in that stretch.

Another day, another suitor for Iliman Ndiaye. In today's version, it's Tottenham Hotspur who have reached an agreement in principle with Everton for the Senegal international for a fee of about £60 million.
In his comments yesterday after Spurs sunk to their second consecutive league defeat to start the season, Roberto De Zerbi indicated that Richarlison had asked to leave the club 'many times', and now that will be allowed with a move to the Toffees accepted for about £35 million.
There had been a hue and cry when Everton had been forced to sell Richarlison quickly to Spurs a few years ago for £60m to balance the books at the end of the financial year, when his performances saving Everton from relegation demanded more. Now it looks like the Toffees are selling another forward in his prime for lower than his market value, and to add insult to injury, are overpaying for the Brazilian to return too given how his career has tailed off with injuries and the like.
As of this afternoon the Toffees appear to still be working on a loan for Jack Grealish, close to making a move for right back Kenny Tete from Fulham, and also have an interest in USMNT striker Folarin Balogun. Beto appears to be headed to Fiorentina and Adam Aznou on loan to Malaga.
This latest round of transfer rumours basically indicates that Everton are shifting into "win now" mode with adding older, Premier League-proven players. The concern will be that at the end of the year with David Moyes' contract up, the next manager could get saddled with the debt.

California's "monumental problem" with rampant fraud is about to get significantly worse, according to Republican state ******* emblyman Carl DeMaio, after Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill that he warns will crack down on people investigating scammers.
Officially ******* led "Privacy for immigration support services providers," the new law creates privacy protections for immigration support service providers, employees and volunteers, including shielding their addresses and imposing penalties on those who publish their images on social media. DeMaio told Fox News Digital the bill amounts to criminalizing investigative journalism and works to "silence citizen journalists and shield taxpayer-funded organizations from public scrutiny."
"What does the Stop Nick Shirley Act do? It basically makes it illegal for a citizen journalist to document fraud of taxpayer money and post that on the internet in the form of an internet video," he said.
Newsom signed the bill into law last week, and it is set to take effect Oct. 1. DeMaio told Fox News Digital that he and a "coalition of civil liberty protectors" are prepared to file a lawsuit challenging the law.

The Commanders brought him in to leverage his pass catching prowess (89.1% career catch rate, 7.1 yards per catch) in an offense that has creative dreams and a limited RB1.
Jacory Corksey-Merritt's advanced profile is basically the bizzaro version of White: he was second best in 5+ yard carry rate but continued to be a non-factor in the pass game.

However, Strategy Inc (NASDAQ:MSTR) is not a simple leveraged Bitcoin fund. The company held 843,775 Bitcoin on July 26, sold 1,638 Bitcoin during July 27-August 2, and another 1,690 during August 3-9, leaving 840,447 Bitcoin. That position was worth approximately $57.5 billion at Wednesday's Bitcoin price, but the figure represents gross **** et value rather than value attributable to common shareholders.
Common issuance increases gross Bitcoin per share only when the Bitcoin acquired per incremental **** umed diluted share exceeds the existing ratio. Issuing above net **** et value alone is insufficient because the share denominator and use of proceeds determine the result. Strategy Inc (NASDAQ:MSTR) reported that its company-defined Bitcoin-per-share metric increased 5% during the second quarter to 210,824 satoshis.

This year, basically same hitting coaches and we aren't hitting at all. Did the coaches suddenly get stupid? Or are hitting coaches overrated. Would the Jays be any worse with me as hitting coach? Oh likely. But would any hitting coach cause the Jays to hit better? Is there words you could use to get Vlad, Springer, Clement (92 OPS+), Giménez, Okamoto (100 OPS+), Lukes, Straw hitting better?
Should hitting coaches be fired at the end of every season? Maybe players tend to turn off the same voices, saying the same things.

NEW DELHI: Anaya Bangar has responded to criticism from South Africa all-rounder Marizanne Kapp over her bid to return to competitive women's cricket, urging those opposed to her participation to "educate themselves" on the subject.

Kapp had strongly criticised Cricket Australia's decision to offer Anaya a pathway back into competitive women's cricket, calling it "absolutely ridiculous" and saying "this should not be allowed".

The comments came after Cricket Australia cleared Anaya, daughter of former India cricketer and coach Sanjay Bangar, for a pathway towards elite women's cricket under its Inclusion of Transgender and Gender Diverse Players in Elite Cricket Policy.

Anaya, who underwent gender-affirming surgery in March this year, is currently eligible to play community cricket in any state or territory of Australia. Her eligibility for elite cricket from March 2027 remains subject to the policy requirements.
Anaya's potential return has generated reactions on both sides, with the 25-year-old now responding directly to Kapp's criticism.

"I think people who want to raise their voice against it should actually educate themselves on this topic, and I've already provided the necessary information in terms of not having any unfair advantage, and also complying with the guidelines set by Cricket Australia.

"If anyone's personal opinion is in that sort of way, I hope they go and educate themselves," she said with a shrug while speaking to PTI.

Anaya is hoping to eventually pursue a pathway to the Women's Big Bash League, although she is yet to sign up with a local club. Her immediate focus is on playing at the community level and proving herself through her performances.
Anaya said she had spent a long period in "survival mode" and was only now beginning to process everything she had experienced during her transition and the long road back to cricket.

"...basically now, the next role is to go there and play club cricket and prove myself by my performances, and if I do well, I hopefully might have a chance to be picked for the Women's Big Bash League. So, baby steps from here, but the major part of having a place to play has been cleared," she said.

She is currently in talks with a few cricket clubs and is waiting to decide on the right one "to go there and start playing."

For Anaya, the CA decision represents a significant breakthrough after years away from competitive cricket. While she has been given a pathway, it does not guarantee selection in any team.

Anaya further added that the process was neither "automatic or informal", with CA considering her medical and surgical history, hormone and testosterone levels, cricketing background, playing footage and scientific and athletic performance work undertaken with Manchester Metropolitan University's Institute of Sport.

She also said her most recent blood test in July recorded total testosterone at 0.6 nanomoles, which she said was within the female reference rang

Going into 2026-27, Austin Reaves is the undisputed No. 2 option for the Los Angeles Lakers behind Luka Doncic, and that will change the expectations around him once again. He averaged 23.3 points, 5.5 ******* ists, and 4.7 rebounds last season while shooting 49.0% from the field, 36.0% from three, and 87.1% from the line, and those numbers don't really show how good he looked before injuries started derailing his season.

An All-Star appearance should be the first goal, but an NBA award isn't impossible either. MVP isn't happening with Doncic on the same roster, Defensive Player of the Year obviously isn't his game, and Sixth Man of the Year doesn't fit somebody getting paid more than $40.0 million per season to start. Most Improved Player and Clutch Player of the Year are much more interesting if Reaves jumps into the 26.0 or 27.0 PPG range, improves as a creator, and helps the Lakers finish at the top of the West.
Reaves also wouldn't be the first undrafted player to get some individual hardware. The list is actually pretty short, which shows how hard it is to go from being out of the league on draft night to becoming one of the best players in the NBA.
Already a known NBA player by the time he won Sixth Man of the Year, John Starks went undrafted in 1988 out of Oklahoma State, had a short first stint with the Warriors, and eventually earned his big chance with the Knicks. By the middle of the 1990s, he had already become an All-Star, an All-Defensive player, and one of the most important guards on a contender.

The reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks are not content to rest on their laurels.

The Seahawks clearly believe they can wring out another championship or two with the current make-up of their team (they are probably correct), because why else would they throw out $634 million in new contracts over the last calendar year? For the fun of it? C'mon now. By total guaranteed money, the recent extensions awarded over just the last several weeks to Williams, star cornerback Devon Witherspoon, and arguably the NFL's best receiver in Jaxon Smith-Njigba come out to over $273 million.
That's, uh, a lot of cheddar. Let's put it this way: If the Seahawks didn't think they could wrack up a dynasty of sorts, they wouldn't be handing out proverbial blank checks like this all at once. (Note: It would also be a lot harder to spend this money if quarterback Sam Darnold wasn't on such a team-friendly contract. But here we are!)

Torino have finally secured Lucas Perri from Leeds United on loan for €1m with option to buy for €14m, but Marcus Pedersen is heading to Olympiacos for a total €8m.
The deal for Perri seems to have dragged on for months, as the clubs had a basic agreement in place as far back as July.
However, Leeds did not give him permission to leave until they were first sure that his replacement was locked down and in place.

On August 13, StoneCo (NASDAQ:STNE) walked investors through a quarter that captures the central tension in its story right now: a credit business scaling faster than almost anyone expected, and a loan book showing real cracks under Brazil's stubbornly high interest rates. Revenue reached BRL 3.6 billion, up 2.5% year over year, but the more telling number sat inside the credit line, where the portfolio more than doubled to BRL 3.8 billion. That growth is exactly what management wants. What it costs is the story underneath.
StoneCo's credit portfolio doubling to BRL 3.8 billion year over year is the headline, but the composition matters just as much. Working capital solutions drove most of that expansion, and credit revenues jumped 153% to BRL 348.5 million as the book scaled and average rates rose. The company also began disbursing government-backed loans this quarter, which already total BRL 334.2 million. These carry lower risk and lower pricing because a government guarantee absorbs part of the loss on default, letting StoneCo price more aggressively for clients it once passed on.
Banking is building alongside credit. Retail deposits climbed 22.3% to BRL 10.8 billion, and that growth pushed funding costs down to roughly 85% of CDI, a direct benefit to margins. PIX QR code volume rose 44.3% to BRL 30.7 billion, outpacing card volumes and signaling where merchant transactions are headed. Meanwhile, the integration of Pagar.me into the core Stone platform folds online and physical sales into a single merchant account, the foundation for the company's new positioning as a bank for entrepreneurs rather than just a payments processor. On the shareholder side, BRL 3.0 billion in buybacks over the past year cut the share count by 40.3 million shares, which is why adjusted basic EPS rose 8.6% to BRL 2.40 even as net income slipped.
The credit expansion is not without cost. Cost of risk climbed to 21.5% from 20.2% a year earlier, and non-performing loans over 90 days nearly doubled to 8.60% from 4.67%, as loan vintages from late 2025 and early 2026 rolled forward into delinquency. Coverage fell to 203.6% from 279.9%, reflecting both a shift toward better-rated and government-backed loans and the mechanical lag between rising NPLs and write-offs.
The pain is concentrated at the high end. On the dedicated desk that serves larger clients, some defaults have come in above BRL 10 million, including an BRL 11 million default from a long-standing client that filed for bankruptcy protection and caught the company off guard. Management also flagged that a liquidated card issuer could require additional provisioning depending on how a pending litigation matter resolves.

Brian Austin Green is opening up about a frightening health crisis that changed nearly every part of his daily life. The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum says he once struggled to walk, speak, read and write. Green described the symptoms as neurological and "stroke-like."
During the Aug. 26 episode of Really Famous with Kara Mayer Robinson, Green revisited the health struggle he experienced more than a decade ago. "I ended up with this neurological thing, and it was, like, stroke-like symptoms," Green said.
The actor explained that the illness began when he was around 39 or 40. According to Green, the symptoms became so severe that he had to relearn basic skills. "I had to learn how to walk again, to talk again," he said. Green added that he could not read or write during the worst period.
The Beverly Hills 90210 star told Robinson that his brain and body felt completely disconnected. He estimated that his recovery took roughly four and a half years.
Green said doctors never reached a complete diagnosis for the neurological symptoms. However, he believes internal inflammation played a role. He also discussed diet and emotional stress as possible contributing factors.

Jamal Musiala is closing in on a return to action for Bayern Munich but will not be available for the Bundesliga season opener against VfB Stuttgart on Friday, coach Vincent Kompany said.
The 23-year-old collapsed due to absence seizures in two pre-season friendlies and is sitting out the start to the campaign while his medication is adjusted.
"Basically Jamal is doing relatively well," Kompany told a news conference on Thursday, adding that Musiala was set to take full part in Bayern's final training session. "But he will not yet be in the squad."
Musiala is still getting used "to the increase in medication." A decision on a match comeback would be made "hand in hand with the experts," Kompany said.
Winger Lennart Karl will be back in the Bayern squad for the first time since his muscle injury before the World Cup, having missed the 2-1 win against Borussia Dortmund in the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup last Saturday alongside Musiala.

"Basically, Jamal's doing pretty well. He'll take part in team training today. He won't be in the squad tomorrow. He's getting used to the increased dosage of medication. He will return to the squad at some point and we'll make the decision in close consultation with the experts. He's doing well," said Kompany.
