Nathan Fielder's upcoming documentary on Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes has caused some strong reactions online, and now it's become one of the biggest meme formats of the year.
The memes are all about the people in our lives who swear they're not deceiving us when we know deep down that they are, and some of them hit a little too close to home.
So, what is the Elizabeth Holmes and Nathan Fielder "Why Would I Deceive You?" meme, and what is the context behind it? Here's what you need to know.
The teaser trailer for Nathan Fielder's documentary You Can See Everything was released on September 6th, 2026, and the documentary follows disgraced former Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes days before her arrest for fraud related to the company.
For those who don't know, Theranos claimed to have revolutionary blood-testing technology that, after investigations, did not do what it was advertised to do. In the years following the fraud exposure, the company was ultimately dissolved, and Holmes was convicted of defrauding investors.

Hickerson, 37, has spoken with the DEA, according to a report TMZ published on Thursday, September 10, citing sources with direct knowledge of the investigation. Local and federal authorities are focusing on identifying the person who may have supplied Panettiere, 36, with substances that could have contributed to her death, with one source explaining that investigators are "zeroing in on a potential drug dealer."
No arrests have been made, and investigators are still awaiting toxicology results that could determine Panettiere's official cause of death, according to the outlet.

Prosecutors in the 2Pac murder trial were asked this week whether they were now considering a potential criminal case against Diddy following the conviction of Duane "Keffe D" Davis.
As previously reported, Davis, 63, was found guilty in Las Vegas court at the top of this week of orchestrating Pac's 1996 drive-by shooting murder. Sentencing is slated for next month, with Davis potentially facing life behind bars.
Diddy, notably, has long denied having anything to do with Pac's murder. However, Davis famously alleged that the Bad Boy Records founder, currently serving out his own sentence at Fort Dix after being convicted on Mann Act violations in an unrelated case, once offered him $1 million to kill Pac. To be clear, he has not been formally accused of a crime in connection with the deadly shooting.

Asked about this at a press conference this week, Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson noted a lack of "sufficient evidence" to charge additional persons at this time, though he didn't totally shut down the possibility in the future.

The world is mourning the loss of Dolly Parton, but her death has hit goddaughter Miley Cyrus especially hard.
According to a new report from Rob Shuter's Naughty But Nice Substack published on Wednesday, August 26, the "Flowers" singer, 33, is having a tough time coming to grips with Parton's death.
"Miley needs time. This one is going to hurt for a very long time," a source told the gossip columnist, adding that while Miley "knew this day would eventually come," she still wasn't prepared for the reality of losing the Steel Magnolias star and is now "absolutely heartbroken."
"Miley is in a very dark place right now," the source continued. "This isn't Miley losing another music legend. This is Miley losing someone who helped raise her, guided her career and loved her unconditionally."
The Hannah Montana alum publicly addressed the devastating loss on Wednesday, and she admitted that some parts of her relationship with Parton were simply too personal to share with the public.

One of the strangest stories in NBA history involved a rumor about LeBron James getting livid about teammate Delonte West having a relationship with his mother in the late 2000s. The rumor mill of the time led to stories that LeBron partially left the Cleveland Cavaliers in free agency for the Miami Heat due to his anger over that situation. West and James have never been publicly linked since that time frame.
Despite never confirming the relationship, West randomly referenced still speaking with Gloria James via a Kick stream:
"A lot of those guys that I play with, LeBron, he's my 'him', and you know his family…called my mom all the time to make sure I'm okay. Miss James, Miss Gloria, she calls my mom, makes sure she's still the same. 'Tell your son I see him. He better get it together. Don't make me come check on him.'"
West framed the relationship as being wholesome and Gloria providing a motherly caring vibe in his life from afar. However, this in itself creates more questions about if a relationship truly happened all those years ago. Not even LeBron's close friends like Dwyane Wade or Chris Paul are casually name dropping his mother in interviews.
The end of the Cavaliers tenure confirmed that James was unhappy with something. Most ****** umed it was purely basketball since Cleveland failed to win a ****** le in that timeline and often fell short vs LeBron's rival Boston Celtics team of the era.
