The Jacksonville Jaguars are hosting a month-long celebration for Hispanic Heritage Month throughout September, launching community outreach programs and student-athlete recognition under the banner "Somos DUUUVAL."
The initiative addresses the growth of the Hispanic and Latino community in Northeast Florida through youth sports, literacy outreach, and leadership initiatives.
Adriel Rocha, the Jaguars vice president of community impact and youth development, emphasized the initiative's focus on community service and culture. In an early offseason move, the Kansas City Chiefs shocked the football world when they traded away former All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams. After all, how could a Chiefs team, ostensibly in the middle of a Super Bowl window, trade away a 26-year-old cornerback entering his prime like McDuffie? Couldn't they have used him during monster matchups like their home date with the Denver Broncos on Monday night?
At face value, the move is honestly still kind of baffling from a Kansas City perspective, considering that older Chiefs veterans like Travis Kelce and Chris Jones aren't getting any younger. But as you watch the Chiefs' defense try to adjust without McDuffie, know that they did have a good reason for dealing one of their better young players.
As explained by ESPN's Nate Taylor, the Chiefs entered the 2026 offseason knowing they wanted a big draft haul so they could try to open a new Super Bowl window while their current core begins to age out of the NFL. After reviewing their best options, they eventually came to the conclusion that trading away McDuffie, a player they weren't too keen on giving a lucrative contract extension to, was their optimal path toward that goal.
I would say acquiring a first-round draft pick in 2026 (which became defensive tackle Peter Woods) and a host of other solid draft ****** ets for McDuffie was a pretty good deal for the team, with all things considered.

Sept 14 (Reuters) - Hollywood designer Bob Mackie, known for making stars such as Cher and ‌Elton John sparkle, died on Monday at ‌87, according to a post on his official Instagram account.
His career spanned five decades and included designing a Barbie doll clothes collection.
Born in 1939 into a middle-class family in Monterey Park, California, he was nominated for ‌more than 30 ⁠Emmys, winning nine. He received Academy Award nominations for costumes worn in ⁠the films "Lady Sings the Blues," "Funny Lady," and "Pennies From Heaven."
"His genius and extraordinary designs will live on forever, continuing to bring beauty into this world," his ‌team said in an Instagram post. His cause of death was not stated.
Mackie was known for sequins, rhinestones and glitter, but also humor. The highlight of his 11-year run for The Carol ‌Burnett Show was the "curtain dress" worn by Burnett in a sketch parodying 1939 film classic "Gone with the Wind." ‌The costume, now in the collection of the Smithsonian's American History Museum, included a brass curtain rod balanced on Burnett's shoulders and a bit ‌of valance worn as a hat.

Westwood football's Levon "Trey" Simmons III claimed TC Palm's August "Play of the Month" honors, narrowly edging out Martin County's fumble return touchdown with 55.6 percent of the vote.
On the play, Westwood quarterback Elize Pierre rolled out to his left and attempted to complete a pass to junior running back Najja Martin. The ball bounced off Martin's hands and up into the air after a collision with a Palm Beach Gardens defender.
Simmons swooped into grab the reception and got two feet in bounds before stepping out of play. Westwood went on to defeat Palm Beach Gardens 21-7 on Aug. 24.

Michigan State beat Eastern Michigan 35-7 on Saturday, but the Spartans went into halftime leading only 14-7 after giving up a 13-play, 78-yard touchdown drive to the Eagles in the second quarter. Pat Fitzgerald did not hide his frustration with it afterward, as he mentioned in a Michigan State Spartans press conference video.
"We've got to be better fundamentally in the second quarter. We weren't doing a great job of block destruction, we weren't fitting gaps right," Fitzgerald said. "The play they scored on we practiced. You know, there was a lot of not very happy people on our defensive headphones and defensive staff when we went in at halftime. Should have never happened."
The run defense is mostly to blame for the touchdown drive. Of the Eagles' 78 yards, 67 came on the ground. The touchdown came when Noah Kim faked the handoff to his running back and took it in himself from four yards out without being touched by a defender.
"I thought, you know, Nick (Sheridan) and Joe (Rossi) and LeVar (Woods) were right on at halftime," Fitzgerald said. "By the time I even got up in the locker room after doing a couple interviews on the field, they had already had the things that I expected I was going to say."
Once the Spartans got to halftime, the coaching staff quickly addressed the effort and made sure the players didn't make the easy mistakes that had left the field open for the Eagles. The defense locked in after the break, allowing under 70 yards across Eastern Michigan's four second-half possessions.

Dubbed the "Designer to the Stars," Mackie won nine Emmy Awards, a Tony Award and was nominated for three Oscars, including one for Barbra Streisand's "Funny Lady," in which she wore a sheer batwing gown. He was inducted into the Academy of Television Arts & Science's Hall of Fame in 2002.
He designed gowns for Madonna, Barbra Streisand, Sharon Stone, Diana Ross and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and concert costumes for Pink. When Marilyn Monroe delivered a breathy, seductive take on "Happy Birthday" at a fundraiser for President John F. Kennedy and the Democratic National Committee, she did it in a sheer, beaded gown that Mackie dreamed up in a sketch.
His influence can be seen in the styles of Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid. He spent part of the early 1960s working at the studio as an ****** istant designer under Ray Aghayan. He scored his first big break when Mitzi Gaynor hired him to create the costumes for her Las Vegas Revue. He continued to be a go-to collaborator for Gaynor over the years and raked in Emmys for his contributions to her 1976 and 1978 TV specials.
He became even more well-known in the Hollywood scene in the late 1960s and through the late 1970s for his work as the costume designer for "The Carol Burnett Show," which asked him to design upwards of 50 costumes a week. It was on the set of that iconic sketch variety series that Mackie met Cher. He went on to serve as the costume designer for "The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour" and continued to design pieces for the star in the decades that followed.

His death was announced on his Instagram page: "It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that Mr. Bob Mackie passed away today. He lived his 87 years to the fullest, fulfilling his dream of being a Fashion and Costume Designer, which is all he ever wanted to do. His genius and extraordinary designs will live on forever, continuing to bring beauty into this world."

Cathie Wood, head of Ark Investment Management, often buys her favorite tech stocks when she sees a new opportunity.
That's what she did last week, pouring $27.9 million into Meta Platforms (META) as the company pushes deeper into AI.
Last year, the flagship Ark Innovation ETF gained 35.49%, far outpacing the S&P 500's return of 17.88% in the same period. So far this year, Wood's flagship Ark Innovation ETF (ARKK) is up 8.66% as of writing, while the S&P 500 surged 11.85%, Yahoo Finance data shows.
Wood gained a reputation after the Ark Innovation ETF delivered a rosy 153% return in 2020. But her style also brings painful losses in bearish markets, as seen in 2022, when the ETF tumbled more than 60%.
Those swings have weighed on Wood's long-term gains. As of Sept. 11, her Ark Innovation ETF has delivered a five-year annualized return of -6.89%, while the S&P 500 has an annualized return of 11.42% over the same period, according to data from Morningstar.
