However, a comment made by Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones after the news broke may raise even more eyebrows than the terms of the record-breaking contract itself.

Despite a potential financial windfall, there is a very strong argument to be made that Bayern Munich needs to keep Luis Díaz — and should not even consider a sale of the Colombian.
While there have been some rumors reporting Al-Hilal to have interest in the winger, Bayern Munich absolutely needs to keep Díaz for the next two seasons and capitalize on the insane chemistry that the attacker has with Harry Kane and Michael Olise.
The Colombian winger has already shown why he can be such an important piece of Vincent Kompany's team. Bayern Munich needs players who can create something out of nothing, stretch defenses, attack ***** e and provide another source of goals and ***** ists. Díaz brings all of those qualities.
In addition, Díaz brings insane production to the table as well. The 29-year-old had 26 goals and 23 ***** ists in 51 games across all competitions last season. His value goes beyond the numbers, too. Bayern Munich have several talented attacking players, but Díaz offers a different profile. José Urquidy made his third start for Charlotte since he was acquired from the Pittsburgh Pirates, allowing one run in his two frames on three hits while striking out three in the process. A pair of doubles in the second drove in the first run for the Bulls, but the Good Guys answered back in the bottom of the inning, tying the game at one on a solo shot from Korey Lee, his first of two batted in on the day. Nebraska is keeping things light as they head towards their season opener in a little less than a month, but one in-house moment has put Geep Wade's singing voice out there for the country to hear.
Wade is the Cornhuskers' offensive line coach, and grabbed the microphone to sing Morgan Wallen's "Sand in My Boots" in front of the entire team. Let's just say Wade is not going to be winning American Idol anytime soon, and the players let him know how rough his performance was.
Wade's boss, Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule, also didn't pull any punches when discussing Wade's lack of karaoke chops.

The Green Bay Packers worked out multiple receivers today and re-signed receiver Kisean Johnson after a tryout, following short-term injuries to receivers Matthew Golden and Jayden Reed. When the Packers announced their transactions after practice Sunday, which Johnson participated in, it was news that Green Bay waived two players, not one, while adding Johnson, giving the team an open roster spot on the 91-man roster. The players waived were cornerback Marlon Jones and safety Johnathan Baldwin, who both were given injury designations. They will revert to the Packers' injured reserve if they pass through waivers unclaimed. From there, Green Bay can decide whether to end their seasons by keeping them on the injured reserve or pay them out an injury settlement, which would make them free agents while they are rehabbing their injuries.

With strong pitching keeping the game close early, the Tigers used a 6-run seventh inning to pull away from the host San Francisco Giants and take a dominant 8-0 shutout victory on Saturday.
Jackson Jobe, making his first start since May 28 of last year, looked incredible on the mound. His first strikeout topped 100 mph on a fastball, and he added three more strikeouts in five innings of work. Allowing just one hit and one walk in his comeback from Tommy John surgery last summer, he was more than efficient.
Meanwhile, Giants starter Landen Roupp had his way in the first five innings, striking out three and allowing just two hits against a Tigers squad that looked to repeat Friday night's hitting struggles.
After five scoreless innings, Detroit finally broke through ... but in a very anti-climactic way. Every runner that got on base for the Tigers in top of the sixth was because of a walk, with Spencer Torkelson's five-pitch walk bringing in the first run of the game.
The Tigers went into the top of the seventh and took advantage of Trent Harris making his major-league debut for the Giants. Zach McKinstry, Kevin McGonigle, and Dillon Dingler hit back-to-back-to-back big hits, scoring two runs for Detroit and gave Harris his "welcome to the big leagues" moment.

Two Florida business owners have been charged with third-degree felonies after allegedly spreading about 1,500 "toxic" mothballs across a beach in hopes of keeping an "imperiled" bird species from nesting there.
If convicted, they could each face up to five years in prison, fines of up to $5,000 and up to five years of probation.

Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. is in a position where he could secure his future with the Nets given that he is eligible for a contract extension this summer. Brooklyn general manager Sean Marks and head coach Jordi Fernandez have made it clear that they want Porter around for the long time, but the Nets may not have much time left to figure this situation out.
"The upcoming season's deadline is expected to be Feb. 11. Due to the quirks of the CBA, that does make this Tuesday worth watching," Brian Lewis of the New York Post wrote on Saturday. Porter is coming off the best season of his career after being casted as the primary scorer for one of the youngest teams in the NBA, but Marks and the front office have to decide how much of their salary cap they want to dedicate to Porter.
"If Porter gets an extension — with a raise of 5 percent or more than two additional seasons — then he can't be traded for six months," Lewis continued. "And if the Nets renegotiate his contract, he also can't be moved for six months. That means if Marks plans to do either of those things with Porter, he'd either have to do them by Tuesday, otherwise the forward couldn't be traded until next summer."
As Lewis noted, if the Nets are going to trade Porter at some point between now and February, whether they extend them or rework his deal, they will have to do so by Tuesday for the move to be allowable under the CBA. Porter is eligible to sign an extension worth four years and $234 million and the question between now and Tuesday could be how much money Brooklyn is willing to pay him to keep him around.

Two weeks into 2026 training camp, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is moving closer to being ready to go five weeks from Monday night.
He continues to recover from a December 14 tear of the ACL and LCL in his left knee.
"It feels great," Mahomes said Friday, via Nate Taylor of ESPN. "When you're tired sometimes, you don't even think about [the knee]. I'm trying to protect it, but at the same time trying to push it and get myself ready to go for the season."
He's balancing getting himself ready with keeping his knee healthy.
"I try to be smart, but there's just sometimes where, in camp, you're trying to compete and practices are long," Mahomes said. "I mean, you want to win the rep. There's times where I do forget about it and just play football."

"It feels great," Mahomes said Friday, via Nate Taylor of ESPN. "When you're tired sometimes, you don't even think about [the knee]. I'm trying to protect it, but at the same time trying to push it and get myself ready to go for the season."
He's balancing getting himself ready with keeping his knee healthy.
"I try to be smart, but there's just sometimes where, in camp, you're trying to compete and practices are long," Mahomes said. "I mean, you want to win the rep. There's times where I do forget about it and just play football."

Manchester City have moved swiftly to reshape their goalkeeping department, agreeing a £1.7 million deal with Marseille for Geronimo Rulli.
According to Sky Sports, the 34 year old is set to sign a two year contract at the Etihad Stadium, providing experienced cover for Gianluigi Donnarumma next season.
