On September 11, Elastic (NYSE:ESTC) rolled out Elasticsearch Vector Database, a new serverless offering the company says lets developers ship large-scale vector search and AI applications without stitching together the usual pile of infrastructure themselves. The launch landed less than three weeks after Elastic posted first-quarter fiscal 2027 results on August 27, for the period ended July 31, giving investors a fresh product story to weigh against a quarter that already showed accelerating growth.
The new database automates what used to require manual **** embly: chunking documents, hosting embedding and reranking models, configuring indexes, and wiring query-time retrieval. Elastic built in expert-tuned defaults, a single field type that handles indexing, embeddings, and chunking together, and hybrid search that combines full-text and vector retrieval in one query. The system scales to hundreds of billions of vectors using Elastic's Better Binary Quantization, which the company says shrinks vector memory by up to 32 times while keeping recall high, and pricing is based on data and search capacity rather than the opaque compute units the company says define most pure-play vector database pricing.
That product push follows a quarter that was already running hot. Total revenue reached $478 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2027, up 15% year over year, while current remaining performance obligations grew 21% and remaining performance obligations grew 27%. Sales-led subscription revenue, which strips out Monthly Elastic Cloud, grew 18% year over year to $399 million, outpacing the company's overall subscription growth.
Elastic added more customers with annual contract value above $100,000 than in any prior quarter, pushing that cohort past 1,800 from over 1,720 in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026 and over 1,550 a year earlier. Net expansion rate held around 111%, and the company generated $143 million in adjusted free cash flow during the quarter. Guidance for the second quarter of fiscal 2027, ending October 31, calls for revenue of $486 million to $487 million and a swing to positive GAAP operating margin, with full fiscal 2027 non-GAAP operating margin guided to roughly 19.4%, up from 16.2% in the quarter just reported.
Growth came with a reminder that Elastic has not fully crossed into GAAP profitability. The company posted a GAAP operating loss of $24 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2027, a -5% operating margin, and a GAAP net loss per share of $0.16. Non-GAAP figures told a healthier story, with $77 million in non-GAAP operating income and $0.70 in non-GAAP diluted earnings per share, but the gap between the two measures shows how much of Elastic's reported profitability still depends on excluding real costs like stock-based compensation.

Amanda Seyfried captured a cool, off-duty Italian summer vibe in a sheer cardigan and micro shorts, completing her look with a Miu Miu bag. On September 6, the "Jennifer's Body" star was spotted leaving Harry's Bar in Venice with a friend during the Venice International Film Festival.
For her nighttime outing in Paris, Amanda Seyfried wore a lightweight, sheer knit cardigan ****** oned up over a crisp white layer. The cardigan featured vertical ribbing and a cropped length, which revealed a sliver of her toned midriff. Below them, she wore high-waisted denim cutoff shorts with raw, frayed hems, giving the outfit an easygoing, laid-back edge. The shorts put her long legs on full display.
Styled by longtime collaborator Elizabeth Stewart, "The Housemaid" star brought an elevated, high-fashion polish to the casual outfit. She carried a chic black Miu Miu Shiny Leather Bag. The structured bag featured short top handles, a glossy sheen, and signature gold-tone hardware. Its reflective finish created a sharp, sophisticated contrast against the casual denim and soft knit texture of her top.
On her feet, she kept things comfortably cool with a pair of Miu Miu Satin Ballerinas in black. The shoes featured a dainty bow on the toe and a branded elastic strap across the instep. Further, she kept her beauty styling simple for the night out. Her soft, natural blonde hair tumbled over her shoulders. Meanwhile, her makeup featured glowing skin and a berry lip.
Earlier that day, Seyfried paired the same shoes and bag with a Miu Miu poplin mini dress. The cornflower blue dress featured a romantic off-the-shoulder neckline. Short, puffy cap sleeves framed the elasticized neckline, adding a bit of sweet, retro flair. She completed her look with Tiffany & Co. earrings and Miu Miu Ciel sunglasses with pink lenses.

Elastic N.V. (NYSE:ESTC) delivered a quarter that should have won over Wall Street. An earnings beat, growing enterprise adoption of its AI-powered search and cloud platform, and guidance pointing to continued revenue growth through fiscal 2027.
The AI-fueled beat led shares spiking more than 15% in after-hours trading, but DA Davidson chose to remain Neutral on the stock. On August 28, the firm raised its price target on Elastic NV (NYSE:ESTC) shares to $100 from $80 while maintaining a Neutral rating.
For first quarter of fiscal 2027 ending July 31, 2026, the Search AI Company announced total revenues of $478 million, an increase of 15% year-over-year. Total subscription revenue also rose by the same percentage year-over-year to $449 million. Sales-led subscription revenue was $399 million, an increase of 18% year-over-year.
Sales-led subscription revenue is a reflection of Elastic's progress with its larger customers, a segment management is explicitly focused on to improve for achieving its long-term financial and product milestones. The company also reported adding more than 80 customers with annual contract value above $100,000, bringing the total to over 1,800.
Firm Da Davidson particularly mentioned the company's improving demand for Elastic's Security solution backed by a heightened threat landscape.

The stock market saw solid gains for the major indexes, rebounding off their 21-day moving averages, though small caps fell slightly toward their 50-day line. Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh leaned hawkish in his Jackson Hole speech, and markets generally seemed to like it. Nvidia (NVDA) surged on booming earnings and blowout guidance, but many chip and AI hardware plays struggled. Negative earnings reactions to Marvell (MRVL) and Everpure (P) didn't help. Meanwhile, Salesforce (CRM), CrowdStrike (CRWD), Okta (OKTA) and Elastic (ESTC) were big software earnings winners, fueling a bisector move. Youth apparel retailer Abercrombie & Fitch (ANF) skyrocketed while ****** 's Sporting Goods (DKS) dived.
The major indexes rose solidly off their 21-day moving averages, not far from record highs, though small caps retreated toward their 50-day line. Fed Chief Kevin Warsh's Jackson Hole speech got a generally positive reaction. Nvidia (NVDA), Salesforce (CRM), CrowdStrike (CRWD), Okta (OKTA), Elastic (ESTC) and Abercrombie & Fitch (ANF) were among the notable earnings winners. Crude oil prices and the 10-year Treasury yield fell, though they came off weekly lows.
Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh, coming off his July 29 news conference that left Wall Street doubting his inflation-fighting credibility, turned the page with Friday's address at the annual Jackson Hole, Wyo., monetary policy conference. Warsh said his perception is that the economy has strengthened, allowing the Fed to focus on achieving its 2% inflation target. Citing strong business capital spending and strong profit growth, with the exceptions of housing and agriculture, Warsh said he would be "hard pressed to describe broad financial conditions as restrictive." Reaction to his address lifted odds of a Sept. 16 Fed rate hike to 56% from around 35% on Thursday, according to CME Group's FedWatch tool.
The latest inflation data may have added to pressure on Fed Chair Warsh to set a hawkish tone on Friday. The PCE (personal consumption expenditures) price index topped forecasts with a 0.2% rise that kept the 12-month headline inflation rate at 3.7%. Core inflation held at 3.3%, though the figure was 3.344% when unrounded to the nearest tenth of a percent. Q2 GDP growth was unrevised at an unimpressive 1.5%, but the underlying measure of growth was revised to a sizzling 4.2% from 3.9% initially. That reflects final real sales to private domestic purchasers. The Bureau of Labor Statistics said it expects to revise payroll growth in the year through March down by 79,000 overall and 178,000 for the private sector. That would leave 12-month gains of 195,000 overall and 321,000 for private employers.
AI chip leader Nvidia (NVDA) posted a beat-and-raise fiscal second-quarter report and gave a bullish forecast for next year. Nvidia stock jumped on the news. Adjusted earnings surged 112% year over year. Sales soared 106% to $96.2 billion, the fourth straight quarter of accelerating revenue g

Langdon Partners' Q2 2026 investor letter for the Langdon Global Smaller Companies Strategy revealed a 9.4% return, lagging behind the MSCI World Small Cap Net Index's 17.0% gain, with a year-to-date return of -10.7% versus the index's 35.3%. A copy of the letter can be downloaded here. Despite the improvement, the seven-percentage point lag behind the benchmark is considered disappointing, and year-to-date performance is still below long-term expectations. The market sends signals through share prices, where rising prices indicate improvement and falling prices suggest decline. However, blindly following these signals can be misleading. The portfolio's performance reflected this, with technology lagging and consumer discretionary stocks performing well. The quarter emphasized that market expectations can shift quickly, demanding careful ***** sment of a business's long-term earning potential. Also, check the fund's top five holdings to see its best picks in 2026.
In its Q2 2026 investor letter, Langdon Global Smaller Companies Strategy highlighted YETI Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:YETI). YETI Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:YETI) is a US-based outdoor products company known for coolers, drinkware, and gear. On August 26, 2026, YETI Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:YETI) closed at $41.78 per share, reflecting a market capitalization of $3.05 billion. YETI Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:YETI) posted a one‑month return of -15.18%, while its shares gained 20.78% over the past 52 weeks.
Langdon Global Smaller Companies Strategy stated the following regarding YETI Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:YETI) in its Q2 2026 investor letter:
"Elsewhere, portfolio performance was considerably stronger. Consumer discretionary holdings contributed 4.0%, outperforming the benchmark sector by approximately 2.7 percentage points, while financial holdings also added positively on both an absolute and relative basis. Watches of Switzerland was the largest individual contributor, followed by YETI Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:YETI) and DO & CO. Goosehead Insurance, L1 Group and several other holdings also made meaningful positive contributions.
Markets are forward-looking, but their horizon is elastic. When uncertainty rises, the market's gaze into the future shortens. Investors begin to demand immediate clarity, effectively penalizing long-duration ***** ets. By compressing its time horizon, the market discounts far-off cash flows at a much higher rate. This change in investor behaviour can produce a significant decline in a share price, even when the business's long-term earning power has changed relatively little. For long-term investors, these moments of shortened market duration deserve intense attention.

When the Tennessee **** ans took the practice field on Aug. 15 just a shade before 2:30 p.m., the AccuWeather "RealFeel" was 110 degrees and the heat index was a much-milder 104 in Nashville. So let's start off **** ans observations by highlighting the real heroes of the day: the hydration squad.
By The Tennessean's count, the **** ans had at least a dozen water runners on the field at all times. After practice, one of the staffers estimated for The Tennessean that they went through the equivalent of 20-30 bags of ice to make everything work. This is part of an **** embly-line process wherein the water runners bring caddies of four-to-six squeeze-top water bottles over to a golf cart with three multi-gallon coolers filled with ice water and a big green ladle. Some of the squeeze bottles are marked off with tape or elastic wristbands to signify they're the ones to be spiked with electrolyte powders and packets from companies like LMNT (specifically the raspberry flavor) and DripDrop. The cart is also stocked with dozens of fresh towels and mini bottles of Gatorade on ice to be used as needed.
During the 10 minutes of the opening team period alone, staffers refilled 29 water bottles.
The all-hands-on-deck mentality was evident. One staffer joking asked media in the middle of practice to hop over the ropes and help "water the players." The **** ans even took a 10-minute halftime in practice so players could go into the cold room and cool off.
"You acclimate yourself to this weather," coach Robert Saleh said. "The first couple of weeks of September you don't know what the heck you're going to get. It could be 93 degrees with 90% humidity or it could be a cool fall day in the upper Midwest. You just don't know."

EDITOR'S NOTE: Featuring the good, the bad and the ugly, 'Look of the Week' is a regular series dedicated to unpacking the most talked about outfit of the last seven days.
In a post-Rihanna world, we all like to talk about how maternity wear — or at least the expectations of how pregnant women should dress — is forever changed. Rihanna, after all, when carrying each of her three children wore exactly what she might have done were she not pregnant at all: rather than elasticated waistbands and drab smocks, she was seen in lace bodysuits, corsets, crop tops and mini-skirts.

Meanwhile, shopping habits are changing. Lyst data suggested that searches for maternity clothes have dropped by as much as 45%. Brittany Mahomes brought her signature sporty style to a family day out, enjoying some quality time with husband Patrick Mahomes and their three children. The 30-year-old shared a carousel of heartwarming snaps from the outing on Instagram, with the family proudly showing off their Kansas City Chiefs spirit as they spent time together outdoors.
While the occasion was casual, Brittany still found a way to turn heads with a standout fashion moment, incorporating an Adidas touch and a stylish micro mini skirt into her sporty-inspired look.
For the outing, Mahomes slipped into a fitted white Adidas crop top featuring the brand's signature three black stripes along the sleeves. She teamed it with the Adidas Originals "Reconstructed Adibreak Mini Skirt," which retails for $70.
The black micro miniskirt put Mahomes' toned legs firmly on display, sitting high on her thighs as she posed alongside her family. Rather than a traditional straight-cut mini, the reconstructed design features an asymmetrical finish made up of overlapping panels. White three-stripe detailing runs vertically across the skirt, while Adidas logo patches add to its sporty, streetwear-inspired feel.
According to the product description, the skirt takes inspiration from the "energy and style of Mexico and New York" and combines a flexible elastic waistband. The unconventional construction gave Mahomes' simple game-day look more edge.

Usha Vance is not breaking the bank with her maternity wear.
After The New York Times published a story ******* led "The Politics and Power of the Pregnancy Image," in which fashion critic Vanessa Friedman ******* yzed how pregnant women in President Donald Trump's administration present themselves, the second lady, 40 — married to Vice President JD Vance — sent a clear message that she doesn't put much stock in what she's wearing.
"Now that we know the political significance of my $8.75 coral maternity dress from Old Navy, can't wait to hear what the New York Times has to say about my elastic-waistband pants and compression socks!" Usha wrote on X. "In the meantime, enjoy my pregnancy fashion (or lack thereof) and a good story with your kids on Storytime with the Second Lady."
Usha followed up by sharing a screenshot of the receipt for the purchase, confirming the garment was on sale for $12.49, down from $49.99, and she only paid $8.75 because she had a discount.
Usha wore the dress in the special Father's Day episode of her Storytime with the Second Lady podcast, where JD, 41, joined her to read the children's classic Winnie-the-Pooh.
