The Cowboys spent their mini-bye week promising changes aplenty, and several were obvious as Sunday's Week 6 contest got underway: Mike Pettine as a senior defensive ***** istant, Malachi Lawrence announced pregame as a starter over Donovan Ezeiruaku, Brevyn Spann-Ford getting at least the ceremonial intro-yourself-on-TV first-snap nod over Jake Ferguson.
But literally starting with the opening kick, it was just more of the same for the free-falling Cowboys... only worse. The Cowboys dropped the game by a 23-13 score that was never really that close and saw their season record sink to 2-4, a mark that on paper gives them far more respectability than they deserve.
With Christian Parker still on the sidelines but Pettine observing from the coaches' booth (on his sixth day on the job), the unit seemed to show a bit more hustle and fire, but the Cowboys' defensive results nevertheless looked awfully similar to their first five games.
In a dominant first half that was enough to decide the night, Green Bay handily won the time of possession battle, racked up 15 first downs, converted nine of their 10 third-down plays, didn't punt at all, and amassed 225 yards of offense, at a clip of almost six yards per snap.
The Packers held onto the ball for 6:30 on their opening possession, a 14-play drive that actually covered 105 yards and landed in the end zone. A 15-play drive going for 83 yards and eating up 8:17 would soon follow, further continuing a trend of the Dallas defense being unable to get themselves off the field. Along the way, they allowed Green Bay to convert to a pair of 3rd-and-13s, a pair of 3rd-and-8s, and a pair of 3rd-and-6s.

Dallas Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb had nine receptions for 70 yards in a Week 6 matchup with the Green Bay Packers. Lamb was targeted a game-high 18 times.
SOURCE: USA TODAY
Why It Matters: Lamb was given no shortage of opportunities to make plays against the Packers with his 18 targets dwarfing second-place George Pickens, who had 11. He did almost nothing in terms of explosiveness, however, averaging 7.8 yards per catch with his longest reception covering just 17 yards. It's a disappointing trend for Lamb, who has averaged fewer than 10 yards per reception in half of his six games thus far in 2026. Despite that, fantasy owners know how high Lamb's ceiling is, so he should remain locked in your lineup as a solid WR1.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — When J.J. McCarthy was thrust onto the field Sunday, he had never thrown a live pass to New York Giants teammate Malik Nabers.
He had never thrown more than a sideline or warmup ball to tight end Isaiah Likely.
Three weeks ago, McCarthy had never even heard a Giants play-call.
So when he took his first snap under center with 11:25 to play in the fourth quarter, the Giants trailing by 24 thanks in large part to three turnovers, McCarthy seemed more likely to continue the hole-digging than reverse trend.
An interception on his fourth pass furthered that theory.

I'm living proof of the saying that "kids keep you young." My wife and I don't need social media. We've got multiple social barometers living in our house. But my usual reaction to every new trend or slang that enters their lexicon ("cooked" and "tuff" have been the new favorites) is skepticism. Before I try to figure out how much attention I need to put into what has them hyped, I try to figure out how serious they are about their enthusiasm.
Sunday's fantasy football action left me in a similar spot. We didn't get many massive box score performances from our stars. Instead, Week 6 was about our mid- and late-round picks or waiver-wire acquisitions. And with some giving us repeat results, the storylines coming out of Sunday should have us adjusting how we approach fantasy free agency on Tuesday.
Both Trevor Lawrence and C.J. Stroud were hooping all morning. They were the perfect pivot from whatever we had to watch on TNF. But as I was watching the Texans offense, a couple of things stood out.
what a throw from Stroud, too. pic.twitter.com/fz4EbOAKvT https://t.co/2MaTqWpPgd
First, Stroud's command of the offense was at an all-time high. Jacksonville came into the game with the 12th-highest pressure rate. Houston had a twofold response. It used an extra lineman on 35.6% of its plays (a season-high), and Stroud was getting rid of the football in 2.31 seconds (a season-low). The result was not only his lowest pressure rate (8.6%) but also his highest EPA per dropback (0.35). More importantly, the Jaguars' defensive measures, which included blitzing Stroud on 31.4% of his dropbacks, didn't stop him from throwing the ball.

For an average single person planning to stop working at 64, a $1.2 million 401(k) account and $2,800 Social Security benefit could provide enough income to make ends meet during retirement. Widely used guidelines suggest your annual income may be around $81,600, which may or may not be more than your annual expenses. Much depends on individual circumstances, including the kind of retirement lifestyle you desire, your location and future trends of inflation, taxes and investment returns. To get a comprehensive workup of your retirement budget, take the question to a financial advisor.
Income and expenses represent the two sides of your retirement budget. Both are equally important and decisions you make regarding either can affect the overall accuracy and dependability of the budget.
You can estimate expenses by using averages for typical retirees or by considering specifics of your situation with estimate for categories such as housing, healthcare and taxes. Similarly, you can estimate future income with general guidelines or by accounting for specifics such as your personal investment preferences.
In your case, we'll start with income since we have information about that. Despite the possibility that Social Security benefits will be cut by about 20% after 2035, your $2,800 Social Security benefit can probably be relied upon. And benefits are indexed to a cost-of-living benchmark, providing protection against inflation.
Note, however, that if you wait to claim benefits, your monthly amount will increase every year until you are 70. By claiming at age 64 rather than waiting until your full retirement age of 67, you are receiving 20% less. If you wait until age 70, you'll get 24% more than at 67. And you'll receive the higher amount, adjusted annually for cost of living, as long as you live.

We now have a better idea of exactly who the biggest creators are on social media. ESHAP and What's Trending have partnered to unveil the second annual Creator Map, a guide to the biggest creators by platform. And TheWrap has your first look at their findings.
The Creator Map will be unveiled later today at the first Jupiter Festival Miami, which is sponsored by YouTube. Evan Shapiro, media cartographer and ESHAP founder and CEO; Shira Lazar, What's Trending founder and CEO; and Jon Goss, CEO of the Lighthouse will unveil the project on the main stage of the event.
Described as the "definitive visual guide to the creator ecosphere," the Creator Map offers a data-informed view of the creator economy, an industry that can often feel confusing and chaotic from an outsider perspective. For the first time, the top 200 creators across Instagram, YouTube and TikTok will have both their follower counts and Affinity Quotient scores published on the map. Sponsored by Whalar Group and with data powered by Whalar's creator operating system Foam, the Affinity Quotient measures the depth of audience engagement and places a greater emphasis on active signals such as shares and saves than on passive interactions. That's an important insight as engagement rather than follower count has become the top metric in the creator economy. The Creator Affinity 100 list was first presented at this this year's IBC and identified 100 creators generating the greatest affinity among their audiences.
The map also identifies top creators across Snap, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Twitch, Pinterest and Rumble, along with the top Substack publishers and podcasters. Additionally, it identifies some of the top agencies, studios, technology tools, payment platforms and other companies powering the creator ecosystem. Check it out below:

Americans are falling behind on their mortgages and are increasingly having their homes repossessed, a new report has found.
New data from real estate data firm ATTOM's August 2026 U.S. Foreclosure Market Report showed lenders repossessed 5,794 U.S. properties in August through completed foreclosures (REOs), an increase of a whopping 42 percent from a year earlier, and 22 percent from the previous month.
Texas was the hardest-hit state, with 1,835 REOs, followed by California (589 REOs), North Carolina (356 REOs), Arizona (296 REOs) and Alabama (286 REOs).
The report also showed a total of 40,277 U.S. properties with foreclosure filings – default notices, scheduled auctions or bank repossessions – a 13 percent increase from a year ago and up 1 percent from a month ago.

It's common for new investors to want to hit home runs in their first at-bats. That situation is arguably amplified at a time when major equity indexes are regularly hitting record highs.

Louis Vuitton presented its Spring 2027 collection, designed by Nicolas Ghesquière, at the Cour Carrée du Louvre in Paris, and as always, I noticed a few trends in the front row.
Emma Stone and Ana de Armas tend to play it relatively safe with their Louis Vuitton front row looks, so both were welcome surprises. Emma's electric-blue tailoring had a stronger silhouette than we usually see from her, while Ana went tougher in black leather with cut-outs and buckled detailing. Two welcome changes of pace. Did either woman pull her look off for you?
The front row had plenty of New York representation, with Jennifer Connelly joining Keri Russell, Chloë Sevigny and the Haim sisters.
There's a lot going on with Jennifer Connelly's look, including some seriously divisive lace-up boots, but on Jennifer it works. It always works. She has never played it safe with Louis Vuitton, and I don't ever want her to.
Keri Russell will always serve up a sophisticated, sculptural point of view, and she found the perfect Louis Vuitton look. The only thing not working for me is the monogram bag. I wish it had been black.

You can always rely on Fashion Month to churn out the trends, not just for apparel, but for hair, too. Over the last few weeks, the runway has given us sculptural frizz, combover-esque bangs, creative crimping, and countless other looks that make you wonder whether all of the lead hairstylists have colluded to make your morning routine a little more difficult. But behold: the trend we didn't see coming… back. In the ultimate model-off-duty moment, Gigi Hadid was seen wearing a humble zig-zag headband—the quintessential late-'90s and early-2000s hair accessory.
After walking in Miu Miu's Spring/Summer 2027 show on October 4, Hadid was spotted leaving the venue with her long, blonde hair pushed back by a tortoiseshell scalloped headband. Also known as a shark-tooth or comb headband (depending on who you ask, where they grew up, and how old they are), the style has those unmistakable wavy teeth that grip the hair while keeping the face free of any stray tendrils.
Hadid wore it with an otherwise wonderfully uncomplicated look: a loose, white **** on-down left open over a white bra, jeans cinched with a brown leather belt, and white mesh ballet flats decorated with tiny floral embroidery. She carried a brown Miu Miu bag, making the whole thing feel less like a carefully engineered Paris Fashion Week outfit and more like someone running errands after class in 2002—if that person happened to be a supermodel.

Natasha Lyonne was yet another celebrity who took the runway this fashion week, trying her hand at modeling on Vivienne Westwood's spring 2027 show held on Oct. 3 in Paris. Much like Olivia Colman for Miu Miu's spring 2027 show, Lyonne embodied the brand's spirit, clad in the designer's pieces from head to heel. The "Poker Face" star's look, which came straight from the mind of the brand's Creative Director Andreas Kronthaler, featured a glitzy pair of gladiator-style shoes. The silhouette, which brought back the trend of years gone by, was equipped with a panel on the front adorned with floral motifs, pearls and vines, all in gold that, from afar, looked like sequins. The designer footwear was mixed with something akin to a clog, since the platform base was wooden. Each shoe also featured peep toes and wooden heels that jutted towards the soles. The hybrid style seemed to be a centerpiece of the collection, seen on a slew of

Gray hair is gorgeous, and many famous women are increasingly rocking their silver crowns with pride. Many celebrities look stunning with gray hair, and it's so inspiring to see them embrace this natural part of aging. But another trend is popping up that we love even more: celebrity women over 50 who are wearing their hair long! So often, society pressures mature women to chop their hair once they reach a certain age (on top of the pressure to cover up their gray, too), so seeing these celebs rock both gray and long hair is truly beautiful.
Olivia Colman debuted long gray curls at the Zurich Film Festival on September 28, 2026. "The Crown" actor's gorgeous tresses fell long past her shoulders. Since Colman previously had a pixie cut, her stylist, Inanch Emir, helped her create the look with extensions. "We weren't trying to hide her grey hair — we wanted to celebrate it," Emir told InStyle in September 2026, adding that her extensions were a combination of four different shades of gray "to create depth and dimension and to work harmoniously with Olivia's own hair." The result was so incredibly natural-looking and so pretty on her.
Colman's hair is part of a growing trend of celebrity women who are both embracing gray and wearing their hair long at the same time. We are huge fans of women who defy social expectations with their beauty like this — and look so good doing it!

JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. — Vice President JD Vance acknowledged Thursday that Republicans face an “uphill climb” in next month’s midterm elections — and that the results may be a data point he reviews as he decides whether to run for president in 2028.
“Historically there’s always a bit of an uphill climb, and I think you definitely sense that,” Vance said in an interview with NBC News. “I also think you can sense a sense of cautious optimism, in the sense that, you know, people feel like the numbers are sort of moving, maybe in our direction.”
He added: “Politically, there’s just a recognition that it’s always going to be hard to win a midterm when you have the White House, the Senate and the House.”
Vance spoke aboard Air Force Two shortly after it landed on a return trip from Lakeland, Florida, where he campaigned for Sen. Ashley Moody and Rep. Byron Donalds, the Republican nominee for governor. It was his latest headlining gig at a rally meant to boost support for the party’s candidates in what is expected to be a challenging year for the GOP.
Aside from the historical trends Vance mentioned, polls have shown President Donald Trump and the war in Iran highly unpopular among voters. A related rise in gas prices has added to a cascade of affordability concerns. And Americans are growing more skeptical of artificial intelligence and the large, power-hungry data centers being built to accommodate the technology. All of those issues could factor into voters’ choices in this fall’s key races for the House, the Senate and governor.

Coat season is here, and while autumn may have some reaching for their trench coats, Kylie Jenner just put her stamp of approval on another trending outerwear style: the car coat.
The it-girl approved staple has been having quite a moment. With its easy, light fit, mid-length design, and sleek silhouette, it makes for a totally versatile piece that goes well with just about anything. The style was born in the 1900s, and its name came as it was designed to allow easy movement for its wearer while driving or using transportation.
Now, decades later, the car coat has found its way to the hottest runways: Prada, Dries Van Noten, Lemaire, Meryll Rogge, and Tory Burch, to name a few. Even Burberry, best known for its polished khaki trenches, has reimagined the car coat with funky prints for the modern It girl (or It boy).
All this to say that Jenner's seemingly trivial outerwear choice—for her girls' night with Stas Karanikolaou at Sushi Park in Los Angeles—actually has a long and rich fashion history behind it. (Her sister Kendall Jenner is also a fan of the staple.)
The Khy founder styled her sharp beige car coat with a little white tee and straight-leg blue jeans in a light wash. For footwear, she traded her go-to thong sandals for a pair of strappy black heels. And to match, she carried a slouchy black leather tote. Rosy blush, paired with a bronze eye and lip, completed her effortless look.

Election Day is still a month away, but more than 700,000 Americans have already voted across at least 30 states. There are signs emerging of the advantage Democrats have in motivating their voters – a trend that’s played out in polling all summer long.
In several states with key Senate or governor races this fall, Democrats make up a larger share of voters requesting ballots so far than they did at this point in 2024.
What early voting data is showing ahead of the 2026 midterms
In Iowa, Democrats have made 67% of ballot requests, up from 54% at this point in 2024. In Pennsylvania, it’s 66%, up from 62%, and in Maine it’s 57%, up from 53%. And according to data from the North Carolina State Board of Elections, 42% of ballot requests are from Democrats, up from 36% at this point two years ago.
It’s worth noting that in all of those states except for Iowa, ballot requests at this point in 2022 were more Democratic than they are now.

Awards show red carpets may be the perfect place to scout the latest formal fashion trends, but they're also major predictors of jewelry fads. We can tell a lot about what accessories might be coming back into fashion based on what ice the A-listers adorn themselves with, and at the 2026 Emmys, a few jewelry trends were abundantly clear. Being a distinguished and prestigious event, the Emmys naturally attracted high-end jewelry style made up of diamonds, other rare gems, and curated pieces from the world's top jewelry houses.
Necklaces are often the first accessory to catch the eye, and this year's show was full of loud, bold, and over-the-top designs that brought all the drama and then some. The common thread through all of 2026's jewelry trends is clear: Quiet luxury is out, and celebrities have taken note. TV stars like Nicole Kidman, Sarah Pidgeon, and Lisa Rinna had all eyes (and camera lenses) on them as they graced the carpet in eye-catching pieces that made it their business to be unforgettable. The Emmys also saw the return of a few more vintage-coded jewelry trends that are perfect for older women in 2026, from classic earring styles to long-adored gemstones straight from the sea.
Many of the biggest stars on the red carpet demonstrated their style expertise by flawlessly rocking more than one of these jewelry trends at once. With these pieces showing up on multiple famous faces — and sometimes layered with each other to create the ultimate style moment— there's no doubt that they're officially the trendiest high-end jewelry movements of the year.

On September 9, 2026, Jersey Mike's Subs Inc. (NYSE:JMKE) reported its first quarterly results as a public company, with total revenue up 10% year over year to $208 million and same-store sales accelerating to 2.3% growth from 1.7% in the prior quarter. It was primarily driven by transaction growth even as the restaurant industry faced weak traffic trends. Net income fell to $37 million from $59 million a year earlier. It showed non-routine expenses, advertising fund timing, and higher interest costs following the company's July initial public offering, partially offset by a $14 million gain on the sale of corporate-owned stores.
Jersey Mike's Subs Inc. (NYSE:JMKE) is gaining customers while its brand remains a major competitive advantage. The firm added 83 stores in the second quarter. It grew its customer base and increased systemwide sales 10% to $1.21 billion. Jersey Mike's also earned the No. 1 ranking among U.S. quick-service restaurant brands in the 2026 American Customer Satisfaction Index, surpassing Chick-fil-A after 11 consecutive years at the top. It gives the newly public company a strong foundation for continued customer and franchisee growth.
The business has substantial whitespace for long-term unit growth. Jersey Mike's ended the quarter with 3,378 locations and maintains a domestic development pipeline of more than 1,600 stores, with more than 90% of that pipeline coming from existing franchisees. Management estimates that the U.S. market could eventually support roughly 7,500 locations and sees potential to reach approximately 15,000 stores globally. It gives the business a long runway for franchise-led revenue and royalty growth.
Digital engagement and transaction growth give Jersey Mike's more avenues to increase sales. Digital sales represented 43% of systemwide sales in the second quarter, up from 41% a year earlier. Same-store sales increased 2.3% mainly because customers placed more transactions. Jersey Mike's also had more than 12.5 million active MyMike's loyalty members in 2025. It provides the company with a large customer database that it can use to increase frequency and personalize marketing as it expands.
Jersey Mike's Subs Inc. (NYSE:JMKE) still faces a significant profitability challenge despite its revenue growth. Second-quarter revenue jumped 10% to $208 million. However, net income fell 37% to $37 million from $59 million a year earlier. Management attributed part of the decline to advertising-fund timing and higher interest expense. It shows that revenue growth has not yet translated into comparable bottom-line growth for shareholders.

On September 3, 2026, lululemon athletica inc. (NASDAQ:LULU) reported second-quarter fiscal 2026 results for the period ended August 2, 2026. Net revenue fell 4% to $2.4 billion, missing the $2.46 billion ****** ysts expected, and comparable sales dropped 10% on a constant dollar basis. Management cut full-year revenue guidance to a decline of 5% to 7%, down from a prior forecast of flat to down 1%, and lowered full-year earnings per share guidance to $9.48 to $9.73 from its prior forecast of $10.95 to $11.15, compared with $13.26 earned in fiscal 2025. Shares fell about 18% in extended trading. Incoming CEO Heidi O'Neill was set to start the following week.

Citi's cut to $117 from $130 came with a Neutral rating and the observation that the stock's risk-reward is "slightly more favorable" after the selloff, even though the firm called fiscal 2027 visibility "very unclear." The operational bright spots are real.
lululemon athletica inc. (NASDAQ:LULU) increased its chase volume, the supply chain capability that lets it reorder fast-moving styles quickly, by about 20% this year, and away-from-body styles including the Groove Wide-Leg, Align Foldover Jogger, Breezily, and an updated Dance Studio Pant are trending well as shoppers shift from tight-fitting leggings. The brand's community pull held up too.
The SeaWheeze Half Marathon and Festival returned in August for the first time since 2019, drawing nearly 10,000 runners from 24 countries and roughly 14,000 festival attendees, while more than 85,000 people from 120 countries joined the companion Strava challenge, strong enough that Lululemon already committed to bringing the event back next summer. Rest of World revenue, spanning EMEA and APAC, grew 5% on a reported basis, and the company ended the quarter with $1.4 billion in cash and no outstanding borrowings.
