Egyptian teenager Hamza Abdelkarim will sign a new contract with Barcelona next week that runs until 2030, the club said on Friday.
The 18-year-old joined Barcelona on loan from Cairo giants Al Ahly in February before making a permanent switch in the summer, having featured at the World Cup.
He became the youngest player to represent Egypt at the World Cup, where he appeared in four of the team's five games.
Abdelkarim impressed in pre-season for Barca with four goals in five matches and made his competitive debut for the Spanish champions as a late substitute in last month's 5-2 win over Rayo Vallecano in La Liga.
He is due to sign his contract extension on Tuesday, the club said.

It's year two for K.C. Keeler at Temple. He went 5-7 in his first year in Philadelphia. What do you make of his fit at Temple and what are expectations for the Owls the rest of this season?
K.C. Keeler has already proven to be an excellent fit at Temple. His résumé speaks for itself, and he is a proven winner even with a lack of resources. He won FCS national championships at both Delaware and Sam Houston, but his 10-win season at Sam Houston in year two of FBS membership might be his magnum opus. Additionally, he's a great fit since he has publicly declared this will be his final job, which promises Temple players and staffers a sense of stability.
Keeler walked into Philadelphia last year and immediately turned Temple into a 5-win team, after the Owls hadn't won more than three games in the entire 2020s. Temple fell one point short of both service academies, and flipping either result would have pushed the program into the postseason.
Temple played incredibly sound football in Keeler's first season, only losing four turnovers the entire year. The Owls should have lofty expectations considering they didn't lose a single starter to the transfer portal. However, they lack experience at quarterback and replacing Evan Simon is no easy task, which could present some challenges offensively. I would label bowl eligibility as a reasonable and attainable goal for this 2026 team.

Texas A&M football's toughest non-conference game is here, as Arizona State visits Saturday in a clash between the Southeastern Conference and the Big 12.
The Aggies got off to a slow start in Week 1 before demolishing the Missouri State Bears 50-0. A&M quarterback Marcel Reed threw for 233 yards and two touchdowns on 21-of-30 passing, while the defense forced three fumbles and gave up 67 yards of offense.

The Sun Devils should be a much bigger challenge. Head coach Kenny Dillingham has led his alma mater to a 19-8 record over the past two seasons, including a College Football Playoff appearance in 2024. BEIJING/SINGAPORE, Sept 10 (Reuters) - China ‌bought 14 to 15 cargoes ‌of U.S. soybeans this week, or around 1 million metric tons, four traders told Reuters, as the world's top oilseed buyer steps up purchases ‌ahead of ⁠Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Washington later this month.
The ⁠purchases take China's total U.S. soybean buying to nearly half of the 25 million tons the White House ‌said Beijing had committed to annually through 2028.
Chinese state stockpiler Sinograin booked the cargoes for shipment from U.S. Gulf terminals between December and February, ‌traders said.
Sinograin did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment.

The Green Bay Packers have become the NFC's Baltimore Ravens under head coach Matt LaFleur. They've found a way to stack winning regular seasons around an electric quarterback. Then, they crumble into powder in the postseason.
LaFleur is 76-40-1 in Weeks 1-18 and 3-6 in win-or-go-home playoff games. Jordan Love has advanced beyond the Wild Card round only once. His most recent postseason start saw a 21-3 halftime lead become a 31-27 Chicago Bears victory.

The sarcophagus of Grand Prince Dmitry Donskoy, who died in 1389 and is revered by Russian nationalists for defeating the Mongol Golden Horde at ‌the 1380 Battle of Kulikovo, was uncovered this summer during restoration work at Moscow's Cathedral of the Archangel inside the Kremlin.
Putin personally inspected what experts said were the prince's well-preserved remains in August, hailing them as "an absolutely unique and marvellous discovery" which reinforced the foundations of Russian history.

Eli Lilly (LLY) stock has gained about 56% over the past year, moving from $722.65 to $1,123.91. Before that run the company was doing something strange. It was deliberately selling less medicine than people wanted to buy, and it kept saying so out loud.
In early February 2025 the CEO said the capacity Lilly had already built was not enough to meet global demand, and that the company was still gating promotion and gating launches around the world. That is a company telling you its reported revenue understates what its products could sell.
The build was landing. Lilly produced more than 1.6 times as many salable incretin doses in the first half of 2025 as it had made in the first half of 2024. The rationed business was already lucrative: trailing-twelve-month operating margin as of fiscal Q2 2025 ran at 42.1%, against its own three-year average of 32.7%. A business earning that much with the tap half closed has an obvious next chapter.
Four weeks before the run began, the CFO was specific about where. Commercial activity behind the recent launches in Brazil, China, India, and Mexico was being kept deliberately measured, so that demand would not outrun supply.
Then look at where the growth landed a year later. In the second quarter of 2026, China revenue grew 93% in constant currency, and rest-of-world revenue grew 136% in constant currency, driven by Mounjaro, primarily in Latin America and Asia. China is on both lists; Latin America and Asia cover the rest. The volume was waiting.

Four years after plying their trade in the semi-professional fourth division of German football, newly promoted SV Elversberg welcome defending Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich on Sunday.
Elversberg, a village with a population of just 13,000 and no train station, became the smallest in German league history to host a top-flight side this season.
The minnows have not been awed by the bright lights, either. Elversberg have won two from two this season, including a 3-2 win over 2023-24 double winners Bayer Leverkusen to open their maiden top-flight campaign.
Club technical director Josef Welzmueller credited hard work rather than wizardry for their achievement.
"I know that it sounds like magic or like a fairytale," Welzmueller told AFP this month, "(but) we did it step by step, and it didn't feel like a fairytale, to be honest."

Sean McVay has taken responsibility for the Los Angeles Rams' 27-7 defeat to the San Francisco 49ers, admitting the loss was a humbling experience for his team.
The Rams led 7-3 early in the second quarter after Kyren Williams scored a five-yard rushing touchdown. However, San Francisco responded with 24 unanswered points to secure a convincing victory in Melbourne.
Brock Purdy threw three touchdown passes as the 49ers pulled away after half-time. Matthew Stafford completed 15 of 25 passes for 155 yards and an interception before Stetson Bennett replaced him late in the fourth quarter.

Saturday isn't just another game for the Oregon Ducks. A couple of milestones are attached as the boys in green and white travel down to Stillwater to face the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
For starters, Dan Lanning has something on the line this week against the Cowboys. With a victory, the Ducks' 40-year-old head coach will celebrate his 50th career win at Oregon, which would put him in an elite club in program history.
That milestone may not come with a banner or a trophy, but it puts him in rarefied air in Eugene; the last Oregon coach to cross 50 wins was Mike Bellotti, back in 2001, his seventh year at the helm.
Since Bellotti, coaches like Chip Kelly, Mark Helfrich, Willie Taggart, and Mario Cristobal have all fallen short of the mark that Lanning is about to hit in his fifth season. In Oregon history, only three other coaches have crossed the 50-win mark: Bellotti, Rich Brooks, and Len Casanova.
Chip Kelly notably had 46 wins in four seasons as the Ducks' head coach.

Take a moment to picture the goal you would most like to score if you were a footballer. Your first thought is probably the right one: a goal from the halfway line. Perhaps even on the volley. Now imagine not merely dreaming of it, but actually doing it. And then doing it again in a Champions League quarter-final. This is no dream. This is Dejan Stankovic.
And yet, on reflection, perhaps there was no single position in which Dejan Stankovic was irreplaceable. He could play anywhere in a flat 4-4-2 or a midfield diamond. Look at it just as objectively, however, and it becomes impossible to leave the Serbian midfielder out of any all-time Inter XI. Indeed, he is almost always there. Unlike many of his players, Michael Carrick has personal experience of the special nights at Old Trafford in the Champions League. This was scarcely one of them, but if Carrick had compiled a list of things he wanted from the evening, this must have ticked nearly every box. A perfect night? "Yeah, I think so," he said.

In a sense, though, the most meaningful goal came from Bruno Fernandes. The captain was nominated for the Ballon d'Or even after a campaign when United were not in any continental competition. He showed a loyalty to United during their European exile. More than any other player, he dragged them back into the Champions League. It was fitting he scored on their return. Fernandes being Fernandes, it was also typical he was not among the rested or the removed.
Carrick has rarely needed to rotate since he took charge. Given this season's greater workload, this was something of a learning exercise. Patrick Dorgu played left-back for the first time under Carrick, excelled in attack and played a part in the first two goals, but revealed defensive deficiencies. Noussair Mazraoui, brought back in for Diogo Dalot, seemed to have a point to prove and looked lively going forward. A fit-again Mason Mount made a belated first appearance of the campaign in the second half. Andrey Santos, dropped after his ill-fated debut at Hull, got the final half-hour. The youngsters Harry Amass and Shea Lacey appeared for the last 20 minutes.

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Myles Garrett finally acknowledged his knee injury is more serious than he had been letting on after his quiet debut for the Los Angeles Rams in their season-opening defeat in Australia.
The reigning AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year made zero tackles and no impact on the game during the Rams' 27-7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Friday.
Although Garrett missed much of training camp and the Rams' recent weeks of practices to rest his knee, the superstar and the Rams had not floated the possibility he would be unable to play at his best when he began his 10th NFL season. Before his 15-hour flight back to LA, Garrett finally acknowledged he isn't at 100% health.
"This was the worst version of myself that I've put out there, and I've got to be better," Garrett said at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. "I've got to find a way to recover and get back to the player I know I can be and I've shown that I've been before."
Garrett didn't want to discuss details of his knee or his overall health after finishing without a tackle for only the fourth time in 135 career NFL games. He wouldn't even say which knee is injured.

The Los Angeles Rams stumbled in the worst way against the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night, losing their season opener, 27-7. It was one of the worst losses in Sean McVay's tenure, making the long flight back to Southern California feel that much longer after a defeat like that.
Three players stood out in a positive way for the Rams, but many of their biggest stars were disappointments in Melbourne.
It's hard to find very many bright spots from this loss, but Corum was one of them. He rushed 10 times for 54 yards, with a long of 13 yards. At one point in the second quarter, he racked up 34 yards on four straight carries, looking quick and explosive through the line of scrimmage.
Some will make the case that he should be the Rams' No. 1 running back, and while we're not quite at that point yet, he did look like the bigger playmaker on the field Thursday.
From the very beginning of the game, Stafford didn't look comfortable. He was holding the ball a second longer than usual, whether it was because receivers weren't getting open or he wasn't trusting what he was seeing. He completed just 15 of 25 passes for 155 yards and no touchdowns with one bad interception when the Rams were in field goal range.

The San Francisco 49ers came out firing on every cylinder to deliver a 27-7 beatdown Down Under of the Los Angeles Rams. From the decision to arrive early to their piling on late scoring, how well did Brock Purdy, Kyle Shanahan and the crew do in upsetting the Super Bowl favorites to start the season?
Offense: A-
The old guys ruled. And that Kaelon Black kid wasn't too shabby. A 30-something (Demarcus Robinson, Mike Evans, Deebo Samuel) accounted for their three TDs and an almost 40-something, Trent Williams, was the best of the bunch, because you and I had as many tackles, QB hits and sacks as Rams' All-Universe pass rusher Myles Garrett. Less happily, De'Zhaun Stribling and Jake Tonges were carted away in the second quarter. George Kittle was a rumor. Yet Brock Purdy didn't notice. Outside of a horrific interception, Purdy was terrific with his arm, legs and swaggy first-down celebrations. Does Christian McCaffrey finally have a caddy? Yes. Rookie Black looked excellent in a real game after resembling a third-round find in the spring and summer.
Defense: A+
Raheem Morris in 2028? The well-respected new defensive coordinator looked like Bill Belichick (the pre-2022 version) while his unit made the reigning NFL MVP Matthew Stafford look ordinary. Sorry, correction: not just ordinary, but awful. Having Nick Bosa, Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw (combined games played for 49ers in 2025: 9) back together did give Morris some added IQ points. The LB duo turned out the lights on the Rams when Greenlaw held up Tyler Higbee and Warner peanut-punched the ball out. The 49ers didn't have a sack, but they made Stafford unsettled. Osa Odighizuwa had four of their eight QB hits, including a pressure that led to Stafford's INT.

WATERBURY - High school football's double-wing offense is affectionately known by smashmouth running game enthusiasts as the "hammer."
Naugatuck was down 14 points in its season opener against Holy Cross on Thursday night at Municipal Stadium's Ray Snyder Sr. Field, but that changed once the visitors went to the hammer offense.
The Greyhounds scored three unanswered touchdowns, the last two runs of 15 and 4 yards by Brandon Andoh behind a monster offensive line, to stun the Crusaders 27-20.
Andoh's 4-yard score with 33.4 seconds left in the game and Gabriel Bello's third extra point in four attempts gave Naugatuck a 7-point lead, its first of the game.
The Greyhounds' defense made sure a last-ditch Hail Mary pass from Crusaders quarterback Brady Lombardo came up short of the end zone. That set off a massive celebration by Naugatuck and its student section.

Glamorgan head coach Richard Dawson labelled his side's performance as "unacceptable" after they suffered a heavy defeat by Warwickshire in Cardiff.
The Welsh County were skittled for just 65 in their second innings in Cardiff as they were crushed by 257 runs and an innings in a dismal afternoon for the home side.
Despite Glamorgan's eye-catching start to life back in the Rothesay County Championship Division One, they have now lost three out of their last four games and could now face what previously seemed an inconceivable relegation.
"There's no hiding away from it. In front of our home fans, on our own pitch, that is unacceptable. I can't say any more than that really," said Dawson.
"The frustration is repeating mistakes, not just from the first innings but probably over the last few games as well. If you want to learn in any walk of life, you've got to be honest with yourself and look in the mirror."

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — No. 7 Miami set a school record for yards and tied the mark for points in a game, with quarterbacks Darian Mensah and Luke Nickel each throwing three touchdown passes in a 77-7 victory over lower-division Florida A&M on Thursday night.
The Hurricanes finished with 856 yards, breaking the mark of 750 against Ball State in 2024. Miami had 77 points in a game twice previously, both against Savannah State. And the game was so one-sided that the teams agreed to shave five minutes off the fourth quarter, setting the clock for 10 minutes instead of the standard 15.
By then, it was 77-0. The Hurricanes (2-0) finished with 42 first downs — another school record.
"Pretty ridiculous," Mensah said when asked about a Miami offense that has scored 122 points in the season's first two games. "It's just a testament to the guys up front."
Florida A&M (1-2) scored on a 72-yard fumble return by Caleb McKenzie with 6:40 left.

The No. 7 Miami Hurricanes showed some mercy to the FAMU Rattlers after overwhelming them throughout the course of the 77-7 blowout win on Thursday night.
Miami has high expectations this season following their remarkable tournament run in the 2025 campaign. They got to the national championship game before losing to Indiana, setting a winning standard they wish to achieve this time around.
The Hurricanes have been on fire to start the year, scoring 122 total points after two games. This includes 77 points against FAMU, scoring all of them in the first three quarters. The contest was so overwhelming for the Rattlers that both teams agreed to cut the fourth quarter down to 10 minutes.

Why It Matters: For years, the 49ers have steadfastly refused to utilize a second running back in any meaningful way when Christian McCaffrey has been available. On Thursday, they did just that, giving the rookie 14 rushing attempts -- that was four more than McCaffrey, and five more than last year's RB2 Brian Robinson had in any game. Black delivered, too, running hard and posting a healthy 4.6 yards per carry. You never want to read too much into Week 1, and there were extenuating circumstances with the game taking place in Australia, but Black did enough to warrant adding off waivers if he's out there.

He said they're going to make an immense amount of money in artificial intelligence. They were going to profit from their gigantic commitment to data centers and next year will be huge for the compute sales. Well, I think it's being pulled forward. I think it may already be huge right now. I also remember Andy talking about the $50 billion semiconductor business that's buried in the company. I like the healthcare initiatives... Alright, what can I say? All this for a stock that's up just 12% for the year; that's wrong. Amazon's balance sheet isn't as good as it was a year ago; enough already. What if Amazon Web Services is able to make four times what it just paid for 2 million GPUs from NVIDIA? That ratio, by the way, is what NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang told me companies can expect to get when they buy NVIDIA chips. That makes me think that Amazon is cheap. We've all kind of forgotten that there's a reason why a smart executive like Andy Jassy is willing to wreck Amazon's balance sheet like the old days. It's because they're going to make fortunes with the money they spend. And we are getting closer and closer to seeing huge profits for investments that the Street has hated. You can't wait until next year to buy the stock of Amazon. And that's why it is a screaming buy with the stock trading at about 20 times this year's earnings. That's wrong.
Amazon Web Services remains the primary profit engine for the company. In the second quarter, AWS revenue surged 37% year over year to reach $42.2 billion, putting its annual run rate at roughly $169 billion. Operating income for the cloud unit jumped to $16.6 billion. Companies shifting their operations to handle AI and heavy workloads are turning those massive data center investments into high-margin profits. Aside from basic cloud hosting, Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) is leaning into its own custom chips, like Trainium and Graviton, and growing adoption of the Bedrock platform to keep its revenue streams strong and diversified.
Not everyone on Wall Street shares Cramer's enthusiasm, as it could be pointed out that Amazon.com, Inc.'s (NASDAQ:AMZN) balance sheet is noticeably weaker than it was a year ago as its long-term debt increased from nearly $66 billion at the end of 2025 to nearly $129 billion by mid-2026. Heavy capital commitments and soaring data center expenses, with full-year capital expenditure guidance climbing around $220 billion, have strained cash flow flexibility. The Charlotte Knights stumbled to an 11-4 loss to the Buffalo Bisons in a game that remained competitive for five innings before spiraling wildly out of control.
Adisyn Coffey took the mound as an opener for Charlotte, making just his third start of the season. It quickly became the Lenyn Sosa revenge game. The former White Sox infielder greeted Coffey with a leadoff solo shot in the top of the third. Coffey retired the next two hitters, but a single and an RBI double followed, giving Buffalo a 2-0 edge.
The Knights answered in the bottom half of the inning. Rikuu Nishida drew a two-out walk, and Riley Unroe brought him home with a triple to trim the deficit to one.
After Peyton Pallette got the final out of the third inning, Huascar Brazobán followed Coffey and turned in a successful inning of rehab work, surrendering only one hit in a scoreless fourth. Tanner McDougal took over in the fifth and faced the minimum, setting the stage for Charlotte to pull even in the bottom half when Junior Perez launched a solo shot to knot the score at 2-2.
Unfortunately, that was as good as the night would get for the Knights.
