Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) is expanding into Vietnam, establishing a local subsidiary authorized to import, distribute and sell vehicles as competition intensifies in neighboring China.
Tesla Motors Vietnam was registered in Ho Chi Minh City on Sept. 11 with roughly $3 million in charter capital, Reuters reported Monday. Tesla has not yet said when vehicle sales will begin.
Tesla's share of China's battery-electric vehicle market fell to 6.6% in the second quarter from more than 15% in 2020, according to Reuters.
Its China retail sales fell 12.4% year over year in August to 50,047 vehicles, while China's battery-electric vehicle sales edged 0.8% higher.

Lyft, Inc. (NASDAQ:LYFT) has begun offering Waymo's fully autonomous robotaxi rides directly through its app in Nashville, marking the first market where Waymo vehicles can be booked through both the Waymo and Lyft apps. Lyft users requesting Standard, Priority Pickup, Wait & Save, or Extra Comfort rides within the designated Nashville service area can be matched with a Waymo vehicle at no additional cost.
The rollout also gives Lyft a larger role in the autonomous-vehicle ecosystem through its Flexdrive subsidiary, which will manage charging, cleaning and maintenance for Waymo's fleet. Reuters previously reported that the Nashville partnership was intended to become Waymo's first commercial deployment through Lyft's ride-hailing network.
paul-hanaoka-D-qq7W751vs-unsplash
The partnership could strengthen Lyft, Inc. (NASDAQ:LYFT)'s long-term position in a ride-hailing industry that is increasingly moving toward autonomous vehicles. Rather than spending heavily to develop its own robotaxi technology, Lyft can leverage Waymo's autonomous-driving capabilities while providing the customer base, app infrastructure, and fleet-management services needed to put those vehicles to work. This ****** et-light approach could allow Lyft to participate in the growth of robotaxis without bearing the enormous technological costs and risks ****** ociated with developing a self-driving system internally.
The bigger opportunity is Flexdrive. Lyft is not simply sending customers to Waymo; its subsidiary is taking responsibility for keeping Waymo vehicles operational in Nashville. Lyft says its new 80,000-square-foot facility will support more than 70 full-time positions and help optimize vehicle availability. If this operating model proves successful, Lyft could potentially become a valuable infrastructure and fleet-management partner as Waymo expands into additional markets. That would give Lyft another potential revenue opportunity beyond traditional ride commissions.

Goldman Sachs raised its 2035 humanoid robot forecast nearly 5x to 6.5 million units, now valuing the market at $138 billion.
Each humanoid robot carries between $3,000 and $6,000 in semiconductor content, potentially generating up to $39 billion in annual chip demand at full scale.
Picks-and-shovels suppliers like semiconductor and automation companies offer a smarter entry than betting on which humanoid robot manufacturer wins.

Artificial intelligence is moving out of the data center and into the physical world. Autonomous vehicles, warehouse robots, and increasingly capable machines are giving AI a body, creating what Goldman Sachs calls "physical AI." The investment opportunity could be much larger than the market for humanoid robots themselves. Every machine needs processors, memory, sensors, motors, and software, creating a new demand stream for companies already supplying the AI economy.

General Motors is developing a domestic battery supply chain it expects to complete within two to three years, even as the company currently relies on some Chinese-sourced materials for its existing battery production.
Kurt Kelty, GM's vice president of battery and sustainability, told CNBC that the company's near-term goal is full domestic sourcing. "We're developing a supply chain such that, two years from now, three years from now, it will be domestic," Kelty said. "That's what we're aiming for — when we get into market, we've got a domestic source for that."
Kelty's comments center on sodium-ion battery cells that GM is developing with Denver-based startup Peak Energy for use in stationary energy storage systems for homes, businesses, and data centers. GM expects to reach commercial production of those cells around 2029, according to CNBC. A GM spokesperson confirmed to CNBC that the company would apply the same domestic sourcing priority to battery cells for future electric vehicles.
Unlike conventional lithium iron phosphate chemistry, sodium-ion cells are built around sodium from soda ash — a resource the U.S. holds in abundance — sidestepping the lithium and ferrous sulfate supply chains that China currently controls. Kelty added that sodium-ion cells handle a broader span of temperatures, which means they can function without the active thermal management that drives up the cost and complexity of stationary storage installations.
"The better thing to do is try to leapfrog, come up with a different technology that's actually better that we can actually source here," Kelty told CNBC.

Stellantis N.V. (NYSE:STLA)'s long-idled Belvidere ******* embly Plant in Illinois has been a case study for how a plant reopening can be pushed further into the future. The plant has been dormant since February 2023, when Stellantis N.V. (NYSE:STLA) ended the Jeep Cherokee production and laid off over 1,300 employees. A 2027 production target for Belvidere has now shifted, with Stellantis targeting pilot production of the next-generation Cherokee in the first half of 2028 and retail production in the second half of 2029, even as Stellantis portrays the news as a larger investment rather than a delay.
Stellantis N.V. (NYSE:STLA) announced an increase in its Belvidere investment to more than $800 million, up from a previous commitment of $600 million or more, and confirmed that the plant will produce the next-generation Jeep Cherokee on its new STLA One platform, the first vehicle built in the US on that modular design, which the company claims will improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce costs.
However, according to UAW Local 1268 president Matt Frantzen, citing internal records and talks with company executives, the updated schedule pushes pilot production into the first half of 2028, while retail production is not targeted to begin until the second half of 2029, roughly two years later than Stellantis' previous 2027 initial-production target.
The Belvidere news is a grave situation developing north of the border. Unifor, the Canadian union that represents Detroit Three autoworkers, stated that Stellantis N.V. (NYSE:STLA) has signed an MOU with Canadian armored-vehicle maker Roshel outlining a potential sale of its Brampton, Ontario ******* embly plant, which has been idle since 2023. According to union president Lana Payne, Stellantis N.V. (NYSE:STLA) has yet to provide the official year's notice required by the collective agreement. Payne described it as a "lose-lose scenario," claiming Stellantis' 2023 commitment to keep Brampton staffed had been broken.
The two stories are directly related. Brampton had been scheduled to build the Jeep Compass, with retooling beginning in early 2024 before Stellantis N.V. (NYSE:STLA) paused it in 2025 and then, that October, moved Compass manufacturing to the US completely, the same reassignment that sent the model to Belvidere.

Angel investor and All-In Podcast host Jason Calacanis warned that allowing Chinese electric vehicles into the U.S. could devastate domestic automakers even as their low prices attract consumers, reacting to Sen. Elissa Slotkin's (D-Mich.) claim that President Donald Trump could loosen barriers as part of a China deal.
"This would be the end of the US automotive industry — but consumers will love to buy these cars," Calacanis wrote in an X post on Wednesday. Affordability in a car market usually looks like a math problem. Every so often it turns out to be a permission problem.
Americans have spent four years watching window stickers climb and calling it inflation. The average new vehicle sold for $50,089 in August, the first month of 2026 that the industry average cleared $50,000, according to Kelley Blue Book.
Buyers feel it without reading the data.
"Many American households are under significant financial pressure," said Erin Keating, executive ***** yst at ***** Automotive, in comments published by Kelley Blue Book.
Electric cars sit higher up the ladder. The cheapest new EV on sale in the U.S. starts at $29,990 before destination, a price Nissan (NSANY) called "the lowest starting MSRP for any new EV currently on sale in the U.S.," according to Electrek.

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — More than half a million Russian troops have been killed in Ukraine since the start of Moscow's full-scale invasion in February 2022, a senior British defense official said Friday.
The dead are part of 1.5 million Russian casualties in Ukraine, Air Chief Marshall Sir Richard Knighton, Chief of the U.K's Defense Staff, said.
The U.K. figures roughly coincide with those published by the Ukrainian military. There was no immediate comment from Russian officials.
Moscow's bigger army is struggling to make headway on the battlefield. Western officials and ***** ysts say the Russian rate of advance has slowed significantly this year.
Russia's armed forces have also lost an "enormous" amount of military materiel, Knighton told reporters. That includes more than 10,000 armored and protected vehicles, close to 3,000 air defense and artillery systems, and over 370 aircraft and helicopters, Knighton said.

USA Rare Earth, Inc. (NASDAQ:USAR) announced on September 4 that it completed the Serra Verde acquisition one day earlier, paying $300 million in cash and issuing approximately 126.8 million common shares. The transaction adds Brazil's Pela Ema mine to Less Common Metals in the United Kingdom, the Stillwater, Oklahoma, magnet facility, and the Round Top project in Texas.
Serra Verde began production in January 2024 but is still completing optimization and commissioning. Stage 1 is expected to reach an annual run rate of approximately 4,000 metric tons of total rare-earth oxide, or TREO, by year-end 2026. Stage 2 construction targets average annual production of 6,400 metric tons, with commissioning expected to begin within 12 months.
Serra Verde had $425 million of principal outstanding under its U.S. International Development Finance Corporation loan at June 30. At closing, a $100 million tranche was extinguished after related warrants were exercised, leaving approximately $325 million of principal. The unaudited pro forma combined balance sheet reported a $304.1 million debt carrying value after discounts and issuance costs.
Serra Verde gives USA Rare Earth, Inc. (NASDAQ:USAR) a producing source of dysprosium, terbium, and other rare earths used in permanent magnets. Combining mining, metals, alloys, and magnet manufacturing could capture more of the value chain outside Asia.
The Phase 1 offtake agreement supports revenue visibility. It covers 100% of Pela Ema's Phase 1 products, subject to limited carve-outs, and includes escalating price floors annually. The counterparty is a special-purpose vehicle capitalized by the U.S. government and private investors. The arrangement provides contractual price protection, subject to the counterparty's performance.

Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) is moving further into the autonomous-driving market as it has started offering robotaxi rides using its Cybercab. The company hosted a Cybercab launch event in Austin on September 3.
Following the event, Goldman Sachs maintained a Neutral rating on Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA). The bank has a 12-month price target of $360 on the stock. The firm sees an illustrative upside scenario of about $500 and a downside scenario of roughly $150.
Goldman Sachs said the Cybercab could give the company a cost advantage in the autonomous-vehicle market. However, the firm believes the company's ability to scale its robotaxi business will depend more on software performance than on the cost of manufacturing the vehicle.
Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) said it has completed 1 million miles of unsupervised robotaxi operations. The company is also looking for operators interested in owning Cybercab fleets, running hubs and related infrastructure, or hosting robotaxi events.
Goldman Sachs highlighted the company's focus on developing a low-cost autonomous vehicle. The company's unboxed manufacturing approach and camera-only sensor system could help improve the economics of its robotaxi business. According to Goldman estimates, if Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) can achieve its targeted Cybercab cost of $20,000 to $30,000 at scale, it could have a potential $0.05 to $0.30 per-mile cost advantage over autonomous-vehicle competitors with upfront vehicle costs of $50,000 to $100,000.

A cryptocurrency ETF is an exchange-traded fund that gives investors exposure to cryptocurrency through a regular brokerage account with no crypto wallet, exchange, or private keys required. The most important type is the spot ETF, which holds the actual cryptocurrency (Bitcoin, Ether, etc.) in secure custody, so the fund's price tracks the real-time price of the coin. When you buy a share, you're getting direct exposure to the underlying **** et, wrapped in the familiar, regulated ETF structure. One technical note: U.S. spot crypto funds are structured as exchange-traded products — grantor trusts registered under the Securities Act of 1933 — rather than as 1940 Act ETFs, so they trade just like ETFs but do not carry all of the same investor protections.
This is a big deal because it removes the biggest barriers to crypto investing: custody risk, exchange hacks, and technical complexity. It also brings crypto into tax-advantaged accounts and lets investors hold it alongside their stocks and bonds in one place.
Spot Bitcoin ETFs launched in the U.S. in January 2024 and have become the fastest-growing ETF category ever. In 2026 they dominate the crypto ETF landscape.
IBIT (iShares Bitcoin Trust) was one of the first to market and is the runaway leader, with roughly $71 billion in **** ets — well over half of the entire spot Bitcoin ETF market. BlackRock's fund has become the default vehicle for institutional and retail Bitcoin exposure alike, prized for its deep liquidity and low cost. FBTC (Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund) is second with about $18 billion, and GBTC (Grayscale Bitcoin Trust), the converted legacy fund, holds around $15 billion despite its higher fee. For most investors seeking Bitcoin exposure, IBIT and FBTC are the go-to, low-cost choices.
Spot Ethereum ETFs followed in July 2024 and form the second pillar of the crypto ETF world. ETHA (iShares Ethereum Trust) leads with roughly $11 billion in **** ets, followed by FETH (Fidelity Ethereum Fund) at about $2.3 billion. Ethereum offers a different investment thesis than Bitcoin as it's the backbone of decentralized applications, smart contracts, and much of the tokenization trend. This means ether ETFs give investors exposure to a distinct part of the digital-asset ecosystem.

The competitive field to build out the tech infrastructure to ease the use of alternative investments in the wealth channel just got a little more crowded as New York-based fintech Aqua announced a $18.8 million Series A to back what it's calling a turnkey alternative investments platform.
The AI-native platform seeks to be a single solution that brings fund creation, operational workflows, investment lifecycle management, marketplace access, document intelligence and investor servicing into a single environment. In addition to managing off-the-shelf private market funds, advisors using Aqua can build special purpose vehicles, registered funds, fund of funds and feeder funds.
The $15 million Series A, led by Arthur Ventures with participation from Alumni Ventures, follows a 2021 $3.8 million seed round backed by Google's AI Fund, Y Combinator. It plans to use the funding to accelerate business and platform development, expand its engineering and partnership teams, and deepen integrations across custodians and fund sponsors. (The firm started as a team of six, but now has two dozen employees and it plans to continue to staff up as it onboards more advisors and fund managers.)
To be sure, Aqua is far from alone in attempting to streamline the alternative investments process. The **** e continues to be led by well-known players iCapital and CAIS, which service thousands of wealth firms through their marketplaces, and each has continued to add tech to support the lifecycle of alternative investments. Firms including SUBSCRIBE, Canoe, Gridline, Allocate, Alto, Arch, Opto, GLAS Funds, Altigo/SEI and Apex Alts also compete in the area, focusing on streamlining all aspects of the investment process. In addition, traditional TAMPs like InvestCloud, Envestnet, Orion, Addepar and Black Diamond have made enhancements to support private markets.

Ford Motor Company (F) is giving investors a fresh reason to revisit its electric vehicle (EV) strategy as the automaker prepares to launch the Fathom, an affordable electric pickup aimed squarely at the mass market. Ford reportedly wants to sell more than 100,000 Fathom trucks in its first year, a target that would put the model in rare company. That'd make it the first non-Tesla (TSLA) EV to cross the 100,000-unit mark for a single U.S. model in one year.
The Fathom is expected to start at $30,000, with customer orders opening in early 2027 and production beginning in the first quarter at Ford's Louisville, Kentucky, plant. Moreover, Ford is building the truck around a new Universal EV platform and a redesigned manufacturing process intended to dramatically lower costs. CEO Jim Farley has described the effort as a potential "Model T moment" for the company.

Investors love to check automakers' quarterly (or otherwise) delivery figures, especially when it comes to young electric vehicle (EV) makers that are surviving amid low volume and scale. Rivian's (NASDAQ: RIVN) R2 has been long-hyped, and on June 9, 2026, customers finally began receiving their prized ride. However, while Wall Street ****** ysts obsess over delivery charts and the smallest gains or losses, savvy investors know the R2 is about much more than increasing deliveries and revenue for the young EV maker. Here is one big development that's often forgotten.
One of Rivian's underappreciated strengths is its ability to bring in investment from larger companies that see value in Rivian's software technology or vehicles as a service. In this case, Rivian's mass-market R2 was a solid choice for Uber Technologies (NYSE: UBER) to add to its numerous investments for robotaxi joint ventures. Uber will invest up to $1.25 billion in Rivian through 2031, after it meets certain conditions and milestones, and the statement from Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi emphasizes Rivian's growing value with its vertical integration.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
"We're big believers in Rivian's approach -- designing the vehicle, compute platform, and software stack together, while maintaining end-to-end control of scaled manufacturing and supply in the U.S.," Khosrowshahi said in a press release.
Uber and Rivian expect to deploy 10,000 fully autonomous R2 robotaxis during their joint venture's first phase. San Francisco and Miami are circled in red to host the initial R2 robotaxi deployments in 2028, with the target of entering 25 additional cities by 2031. If all goes well for the joint venture, there's an option for the companies to negotiate the purchase of up to 40,000 additional R2 vehicles beginning in 2030.

49ers rookie De'Zhaun Stribling exits Rams game on cart in scary moment originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
It's always a scary thing when a player goes down during an NFL game, and that's especially the case when it's a rookie with a promising future in the league. Unfortunately, during the San Francisco 49ers' season opener against the Los Angeles Rams, one rookie's time on the field was cut short.
Wide receiver De'Zhaun Stribling exited the Rams game on a cart after suffering an ankle injury. He hurt his ankle earlier in the game but was able to come back into it not long after. However, the rookie wide receiver wasn't able to stay in and had to be carted out on a medical vehicle.
Nick Wagoner of ESPN reports that the player has been ruled out for the game.
The 49ers drafted Stribling in the second round of the 2026 NFL draft with the 33rd overall selection. He played at Ole Miss before heading to the pros.

China's largest new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer BYD Auto reported an 18% rise in global sales to 440,293 units in August 2026, marking the fourth consecutive month of growth for the company following eight months of declines. Last month's growth followed a 22% surge in July, as overseas sales continued to strengthen - offsetting continued weak demand and fast-rising competition in its home market.
Domestic sales fell by 14% year-on-year to 250,827 units in August, while overseas sales surged by 134% to 189,466 vehicles, accounting for 43% of the company's global sales.
In the first eight months of 2026, BYD sold a total of 2,668,015 vehicles globally, down by almost 7% from last year's 2,863,876 units, with domestic sales plunging by 33% to 1,505,755 units from 2,233,148 units in the same period last year. Overseas sales surged by 86% to 1,162,260 units year-to-date, after growing by 130% to 630,728 units previously.
BYD is in the process of switching its products to its second-generation Blade Battery, which features flash charging capabilities. The transition has caused some production bottlenecks in recent months, according to local reports. The company is also expanding its presence in the premium BEV segment, with the launch of the Dynasty Da Tang D-segment flagship SUV in July.
BYD has set a target of further increasing its overseas sales to 2.5 million vehicles in 2027, up from an expected 2.0 million units in 2026, helped by an expanded shipping fleet and rising production abroad, with the company's plant in Hungary scheduled to become operational in the fourth quarter of 2026.

SpaceX must pull off rocket reusability if the company is to reach a stratospheric market valuation in the not-too-distant future.
"A successful investment case in ****** eX at the current $2 trillion enterprise value rests almost entirely on a single admittedly massive engineering bottleneck: Starship reusability (i.e. 20-50 flights per Starship with relatively inexpensive and quick refurbishment/redeployment)," Pivotal Research Group ****** yst Jeffrey Wlodarczak wrote in a note on Tuesday. "If Elon Musk can solve for this fundamental issue it potentially drives down the cost of launches to ****** e to the equivalent of terrestrial freight opening up an unarguably massive opportunity."
Wlodarczak initiated coverage of ****** eX with a Buy rating and $220 price target.
That massive opportunity, Wlodarczak said, includes Starlink taking a material share of the wireless industry and serving as a ****** e monopoly, with others having to pay ****** eX for entry.
"In the end, investors are debating xAI, Colossus, and Starlink take-rates," Wlodarczak added. "Those matter only after Starship works. Our $220 target is a call on reuse 20–50 flights per vehicle, cheap refurb, fast turnaround. If that is solved, the rest of the model can happen. If it is not, SPCX is a different and much smaller company."

Blac Chyna has spent plenty of money on luxury over the years, but one purchase still tops them all. Surprisingly, her biggest splurge was not for herself. Instead, it was a six-figure gift for ex-fiancé Rob Kardashian.
Chyna revealed the eye-watering purchase during a new WatchGuys interview. While discussing expensive purchases, she said the most money she has ever spent at once was on a car. "I bought a car. Range Rover," Chyna recalled.
Then came the twist. "I actually bought it for Rob," she said, referring to Rob Kardashian. Chyna estimated that the Range Rover cost roughly $150,000. "That was when I was big ballin'," she joked.
The confession came during a conversation about luxury watches and high-end spending. Even then, Chyna pointed back to the Range Rover as the purchase that topped everything else. The Blac Chyna $150,000 car revelation brings back a memorable chapter from the former couple's relationship.
Chyna originally surprised Kardashian with a black Range Rover in December 2016. At the time, photos showed the vehicle topped with a large blue bow. According to Us Weekly, Kardashian thanked Chyna after receiving the extravagant gift.

In its early years, Chinese battery leader CATL focused on electric vehicles (EVs), riding the explosive growth of the global e-mobility market. The company has since taken a turn, aggressively expanding its energy storage business with a target for storage to generate 50% of its global sales by 2030.
Today, CATL stands as one of the world's largest grid storage suppliers, powering megaprojects such as Synergy's 2.4GW-hour (GWh) Collie Battery in Australia and the 1.4GWh Gemini Solar-Plus-Storage project in Nevada, US.
In an exclusive interview with Power Technology, CATL's managing director of Western Europe, Hank Zhao, and chief technology officer of AC (alternating current) systems, Bruce Li, share how they translate learnings from the company's automotive history to its stationary storage unit. They also discuss the operational realities of energy storage leadership, executive decision-making in a fast-changing industry, and bridging the gap between Chinese technology and European markets.
Hank Zhao (HZ): I joined the company's EV business in 2010 and stayed there for 11 years before moving to the energy storage unit in mid-2021.
When the company was founded, it started with e-mobility and stationary storage as its two main business directions. But I think before 2020, the business scale of storage was much smaller than for EVs, and we didn't see as many opportunities. Then from 2021, there was a rapid boom in demand for energy storage, especially in markets like the US and China.

Rivian Automotive, Inc. (NASDAQ:RIVN) Chief Financial Officer Claire McDonough is stepping down at the end of October to join GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE:GEV) in the same role, Reuters reported on August 27, just as Rivian ramps up production of its cheaper R2 SUV amid fragile U.S. EV demand.
McDonough will formally take the GE Vernova CFO seat on January 1, 2027, succeeding the retiring Ken Parks. Rivian said her exit is "not the result of any disagreement" and that she is relocating to the East Coast to be closer to family. McDonough joined Rivian in January 2021, led the company through its $13.7 billion IPO later that year, and helped structure its $5.8 billion Volkswagen Group joint venture. Derek Mulvey, Rivian's vice president of finance, will serve as interim CFO starting October 30 while the company runs a search for a permanent replacement. The news lands as Rivian scales the R2, its $45,000-to-$58,000 SUV that began customer deliveries in June, with the stock trading near $17, down more than 75% from its IPO price.
Rivian Automotive, Inc. (NASDAQ:RIVN) keeps improving its business as it enters the next phase of its growth strategy. The company has started R2 deliveries, and management raised its annual delivery forecast last month as customers showed stronger interest in the lower-priced SUV. Rivian also continues to pursue profitability while growing its vehicle lineup. This is giving the company an opportunity to build a larger customer base through a more affordable model.
Rivian also has an experienced finance team that can maintain continuity after Claire McDonough's departure. McDonough will remain at Rivian through the end of October and help with the transition, while Vice President of Finance Derek Mulvey will take over as interim CFO. That arrangement gives Rivian time to search for a permanent replacement without forcing the company to manage an abrupt leadership gap during the R2 rollout.
GE Vernova Inc. (NYSE:GEV) gains a finance chief with experience in capital-intensive businesses, fundraising and cost management. McDonough helped Rivian take its business public, lead cost-cutting efforts and raise capital during its expansion. Those skills could benefit GE Vernova as the company expands its Power and Electrification businesses and manages rising demand for energy infrastructure.

Lucid Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:LCID) is recalling 27,185 of its Air luxury sedans in the U.S. because an exterior lighting circuit could overheat and raise the risk of fire, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on August 28.
NHTSA told owners to park outside and away from structures until a fix is deployed and warned the overheating circuit could also knock out exterior lighting, raising crash risk too. Lucid already released a free over-the-air software update, and NHTSA said 20,719 of the affected vehicles had received it before the announcement.
The recall is Lucid's largest ever, covering more cars than it delivered in all of 2025, when it handed over 15,841 vehicles. It follows a May recall of 2,039 vehicles over lost drive power and a January recall of more than 10,000 vehicles over rearview camera problems.
Lucid Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:LCID)'s top line continues to grow despite its operational challenges, as second-quarter revenue jumped 56% year over year to about $405 million and 44% sequentially. The growth was helped by higher deliveries, a better product mix, a 3.7% increase in average selling price, and $25 million in additional regulatory credit sales. This growth gives Lucid a stronger revenue base as management works to improve the firm's basic economics.
New CEO Silvio Napoli has also introduced a specific turnaround plan with measurable targets. His operational reset plans to generate $1.4 billion in cash-flow improvements this year. It directly addresses problems such as premature product launches, inadequate service investment, and slow responses to quality issues. A more disciplined approach could help Lucid reduce execution problems and rebuild investor confidence.

General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) reached a tentative three-year labor deal with Unifor that Canadian workers ratified on August 29 and 30, securing more than C$1 billion ($791 million) in new and previously announced investment across Ontario, covering over 4,600 workers.
GM will spend C$144 million to bring next-generation Heavy-Duty GMC Sierra production to Oshawa, adding to a previously committed C$343 million there. At St. Catharines, GM will invest C$215 million in a new transmission program starting late 2029, on top of a previously announced C$691 million for V8 engine production. GM also pledged not to immediately sell or close its CAMI plant in Ingersoll while it studies alternatives, including possible defense work if it lands a Canadian Armed Forces contract. The deal lands as Canada's auto sector faces 25% U.S. tariffs, with Trump threatening to double that to 50% on January 1, 2027, and U.S. and Canada trade talks still stalled.
General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) enters this deal from a position of financial strength. GM beat second-quarter expectations with adjusted earnings per share of $3.57 versus the $3.18 estimate and revenue of $48 billion versus the $46.99 billion forecast. The company also raised its full-year guidance for the second time this year, while adjusted automotive free cash flow reached $5 billion, up $2.2 billion year over year. That cash generation gives GM room to fund its Canadian commitments without putting significant pressure on its balance sheet.
The tariff environment has also become more favorable for GM. After the Supreme Court invalidated tariffs imposed under emergency powers, GM lowered its full-year gross tariff-cost estimate to $2.5 billion-$3.5 billion from $3 billion-$4 billion. Protecting Canadian production now could reduce the risk of costly disruptions as GM adjusts its North American manufacturing footprint and responds to changing trade policies.
The agreement also protects GM's pickup and SUV business, which generates some of the company's highest margins. CEO Mary Barra said North American demand remains strong for these vehicles, while the return of Heavy-Duty Sierra production to Oshawa will give GM additional North American capacity for a key product line. Producing more trucks within the region could also help GM reduce its exposure to cross-border tariff costs.

Airing a Super Bowl is a bit like a presidential election.
It might come around every four years, but candidates – in this case, the four networks with the privilege and pockets to be in the broadcast rotation – are constantly jockeying and positioning themselves, especially as their turn nears.
That makes CBS' conundrum with Tony Romo even more precarious. Super Bowl 61 will return to ABC/ESPN for the first time in two decades to end the 2026 season on Feb. 14, 2027, but then CBS will officially be on the clock for February 2028, when it will host its first Super-Bowl broadcast since 2023.
Romo, the network's No. 1 game ****** yst who partners with Jim Nantz, was arrested on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI) and pleaded no contest Sept. 2 to three charges he faced from the incident, which occurred while in his native Wisconsin on July 23. The subsequent police officer bodycam footage became Internet fodder, as Romo failed his field sobriety test, told the officer who pulled him over he was "going to see grandma and grandpa" (his own parents) and had an open container in the passenger seat.
In his first public comment since the arrest, Romo said via a Sept. 1 statement posted to his Instagram account, "I own this completely." He also noted an over-reliance on alcohol stemming from a dependence on pain medication following his playing career.

BEIJING, Sept 8 (Reuters) - Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD expects overseas shipments to exceed 2.5 million vehicles in ‌2027, two major brokerages said on Tuesday, citing a ‌group meeting with company management.
BYD did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
• The export target is underpinned by continued market-share gains overseas, an expanding fleet of dedicated car carriers and a growing local manufacturing footprint, Deutsche Bank said in a note.
• BYD management guided ‌overseas shipments to reach 1.9 million to 2 million vehicles in 2026, nearly double last year's level, Deutsche Bank said. Management indicated that shipping constraints limited overseas sales this year and that export volumes could otherwise have been higher.
• BYD's Hungary plant is expected to start ******* embly in November or December. Management is also ‌evaluating additional overseas manufacturing locations, according to Deutsche Bank.

Federal regulators said the two crew members aboard the Amazon cargo jet that crashed at Miami International Airport on Sunday survived the accident.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) provided the update during a Sunday press conference after officials said the cargo plane overran the runway and caught fire while landing. The crash killed five people and injured five others, authorities said Sunday.
The jet collided with two vehicles carrying at least eight occupants, according to NTSB Chairwoman Jennifer Homendy.
Seven of the victims were in a van that was struck and "torn apart" on airport grounds, Homendy said. The 2012 white Ford Econoline van was owned by Ocean Service Corporation, a contract cleaning company that provides services for airlines, she said.

MOSCOW, Sept 7 (Reuters) - North Korea and Russia opened their first road bridge on Monday in a carefully choreographed display of friendship, a structure which spans the Tumen river and which both sides cast as an important milestone ‌in their deepening strategic partnership.
The first flag-adorned trucks trundled across the 1 km (0.6 mile) long two-lane bridge as Russian Prime ‌Minister Mikhail Mishustin and North Korea's Premier Pak Thae Song tuned in by video link to address workers and government officials from both countries.
Construction of the new bridge, which had been under discussion for years, began in April last year after the project was agreed during a visit by President Vladimir Putin to North Korea in 2024. There are already direct air and rail links between Moscow and Pyongyang, but until Monday there had not been a proper road link. Instead, since 1959 and by special arrangement, planks had been placed on the nearby rail bridge - for decades the sole border crossing point - ‌in order to move vehicles across the border between the two countries.
"I am convinced that the expansion of cross-border transport infrastructure will provide a powerful impetus for the further development of trade, economic, scientific, technological and cultural cooperation," said Mishustin, who said ties between Moscow and Pyongyang were "at an unprecedented high level" and called the opening of the bridge "a genuinely historic event."

Institutional investors are beginning to allocate capital to "evergreen" private market funds that Blackstone Inc. (NYSE:BX) and KKR & Co. Inc. (NYSE:KKR) originally built for wealthy individuals, the Financial Times reported.
Evergreen funds let investors access capital at set intervals rather than locking it up for a decade-long private equity fund life. Blackstone's wealth business has seen institutions begin allocating to its evergreen products, though they currently make up "only a small proportion of the capital raised," said Joan Solotar, who leads that business. KKR has separately raised the share of deals its evergreen K-Series funds can take from a longstanding 7.5% cap to as much as 20% in some cases, the FT reported.
Institutional investors are validating years of investment by Blackstone Inc. (NYSE:BX) and KKR & Co. Inc. (NYSE:KKR) in wealth-focused products. Both firms, along with Apollo, have expanded evergreen vehicles for individual investors, and institutions now choosing these funds provide another source of sophisticated capital for the products. That adoption could help Blackstone and KKR expand their wealth-management businesses beyond traditional individual investors.
KKR's renegotiated deal-allocation terms provide another sign of growing demand for its evergreen funds. KKR & Co. Inc. (NYSE:KKR) increased the co-investment cap for its K-Series funds from 7.5% to as much as 20% in vehicles such as its $8 billion European Fund VI. The larger allocation gives KKR's wealth-focused funds access to more investment opportunities and could help the company grow ****** ets and fee revenue from this channel.
Evergreen structures solve a current problem for institutional investors, not just individuals. Many institutions have grown more cautious about committing to traditional private equity as managers have struggled to exit investments and return capital. Evergreen funds' greater liquidity gives institutions an alternative way to stay invested without that same lockup risk.
