Express rides the nostalgia wave with 'Archives' menswear reissues
Express, which launched in the 1980s, peaked earlier this century and remains a mall fixture, is the latest apparel retailer to tap into consumers' affinity for nostalgia and vintage finds. The company has reissued designs first introduced in the 1990s and early 2000s, including some from its now-defunct Structure menswear brand, featuring "relaxed proportions, bold graphics, utility details and bootcut denim."

After watching home prices explode during the pandemic, one recent buyer has a question that probably sounds familiar to anyone who has looked at real estate lately: How can this possibly continue?
The buyer, who recently purchased a home in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, asked Reddit's r/RealEstate community where the ceiling is if home prices keep appreciating while incomes struggle to keep pace.
"At some point don't we just reach a point where no one can afford a home?" they asked. They were even worried that continued appreciation could eventually make their own home difficult to sell because there wouldn't be enough buyers who could afford it.

On August 5, Cirrus Logic (NASDAQ:CRUS) reported record first-quarter revenue of $459.7 million, up 13% year over year, alongside non-GAAP earnings per share of $1.84, a June quarter record for the company. Smartphone component demand carried the print, and executives struck a confident tone about content growth across cameras, batteries and power circuits. But that optimism sat next to a quieter admission: the company's PC segment outlook for fiscal 2027 just got smaller, and the reasons behind that cut matter for anyone weighing this stock's next chapter.
High-performance mixed-signal revenue climbed 26% year over year to $210.7 million, as Cirrus Logic expanded its footprint across camera, battery, and power applications inside smartphones. CEO John Forsyth pointed to a multi-generation collaboration with the company's largest customer on camera controllers, plus continued work on a Smart Power IC for 3D sensing that stayed on schedule through the quarter. Audio, the company's flagship business, still grew 3.7% to $249.0 million on demand for custom boosted amplifiers and smart codecs, and Forsyth said those parts should keep shipping across multiple future product generations.
The company is also pushing past smartphones. During the quarter, Cirrus Logic taped out a new family of ******* og front-end components aimed at smart meters, with sampling expected in the September quarter and potential spillover into EV charging, data center metrology and grid monitoring. On the PC side, a new low-power smart codec built for always-on wake word detection drew strong customer interest, and products using Nvidia's RTX Spark platform are expected to ship later in 2026 carrying Cirrus Logic amplifiers and codecs. A fresh wafer supply agreement with GlobalFoundries locks in capacity and pricing through calendar 2028 and advances a shift toward domestic manufacturing in Malta, New York. Underneath it all sits $1.2 billion in cash and investments, no debt, and $598.6 million in trailing 12-month operating cash flow, funding $34.5 million in share buybacks during the quarter and another $50.5 million afterward.
The company trimmed its fiscal 2027 PC segment outlook, and Forsyth laid out three specific culprits: constrained supply of a key industry platform, memory and component shortages pressuring pricing across the PC market, and OEMs responding by delaying new model launches and stretching the life of older platforms. Those delayed models typically carry higher content and higher volume for Cirrus Logic, so Forsyth said the slippage "pushes out some of the growth we would otherwise have seen in our PC business this year."

Hiring by private-sector employers fell short of expectations last month, according to payroll processor ADP.
Private employers added 38,000 jobs in August. Economists polled by Bloomberg had been expecting a gain of 47,000 jobs. July's job gains were revised up slightly to 46,000.
The education and healthcare sectors were responsible for the bulk of new jobs, while manufacturing and business and professional services both saw job losses.
Job switchers saw their base wages increase by 4.7% year-over-year, while wages for those who stayed put rose by 3%.
There is "still some opportunity to boost wages by changing jobs, even in this low fire, low hire job market." ADP chief economist Nela Richardson said.

Good morning. Stocks slipped in early trading on Tuesday as long-dated bond yields rose and speculation of a rate hike this year grew.
Oil prices (CL=F) jumped after President Trump vowed to hit Iran "hard," stoking fears that above-target inflation will follow on the heels of a strong earnings season and prompt Federal Reserve officials to tighten monetary policy.
The 10-year Treasury (^TNX) yield hit its highest level since January 2025.
Here's a check of the markets in the first few minutes of trading on the first trading day of September, based on a heat map powered by Yahoo Finance AlphaSpace data.
Though September is historically the weakest month for stocks, software enters it on the heels of recent momentum, while much of the physical AI trade appears to be on the defensive.

OSI Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:OSIS) ended fiscal 2026 with record operating cash flow and backlog, but its fourth-quarter revenue result was materially below expectations. Revenue declined 4% to $484.1 million, approximately $45.6 million below the $529.7 million consensus estimate. Full-year revenue of $1.786 billion also finished about $39 million below the $1.825 billion floor of the company's prior guidance. Company-defined non-GAAP diluted EPS of $3.78 was essentially in line with the $3.77 consensus estimate.
Shares closed lower following the revenue miss, Middle Eastern delivery delays, and fiscal 2027 guidance. The central question is whether the delayed sales represent a temporary shift or evidence that the record backlog will convert unevenly.
Fiscal 2026 GAAP diluted EPS increased 3% to $8.95, while company-defined non-GAAP diluted EPS rose 11% to $10.35. The non-GAAP measure excludes impairment, restructuring, and other charges, acquired-intangible amortization, a $4.359 million former-CEO retirement expense, related tax effects, and discrete tax items.
Management said Middle Eastern conflicts and site-access constraints shifted approximately $50 million of planned Security deliveries beyond June 30. OSI Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:OSIS) said the orders were deferred rather than lost and remain in backlog under revised delivery schedules.
Backlog increased to approximately $1.9 billion from $1.8 billion a year earlier. Fiscal 2027 guidance calls for revenue of $1.875 billion to $1.930 billion, representing growth of 5% to 8.1%. Company-defined non-GAAP diluted EPS is expected between $11.13 and $11.49, implying growth of 7.5% to 11%.

On August 14, 2026, Reuters reported that Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) disclosed that its stake in ******* e Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX) was worth about $94 billion as of June 30, 2026, more than 100 times its original $900 million investment from 2015. It is making Alphabet by far ******* eX's largest single institutional shareholder following the company's June initial public offering.
Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL)'s ******* eX stake is now one of the most lucrative early-stage bets in tech history. A $900 million check from 2015 is worth roughly $94 billion, a gain that dwarfs Alphabet's next-largest disclosed rival holder, Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, whose 154.1 million shares were worth $26.3 billion at the same date. That scale validates Alphabet's willingness to make patient, outsized bets outside its core search business, a track record that could matter the next time Alphabet weighs a similarly bold bet.
Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ:SPCX)'s trading action suggests institutional demand is holding up despite the pullback. The stock got "a fresh jolt of buying" when fears about its first lockup expiry proved unfounded, Interactive Brokers strategist Steve Sosnick told Reuters. It remains one of the most actively traded names among the firm's customers. That kind of resilience right after a lockup, often a moment when early holders dump shares, signals ******* eX's shareholder base isn't rushing for the exits.
SpaceX's ownership base extends well beyond Alphabet, which reduces reliance on any single backer's continued conviction. Reuters' filing review found Fidelity, Saudi Arabia's PIF, Hancock Prospecting, Brookfield, and other major institutions all disclosing sizable stakes. That breadth shows professional investors broadly, not just Alphabet, are underwriting ******* eX's valuation.
Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOGL)'s headline number is already stale and shrinking. The stake would be worth about $77.9 billion at ******* eX's August 13 price, Reuters reported, roughly $16 billion below the June 30 figure used in the disclosure, since regulatory filings run on a 45-day lag. Now that ******* eX is public, Alphabet's stake must be marked to market. It means ******* eX's own stock swings could show up as real volatility in Alphabet's reported earnings going forward, a new risk that did not exist while the investment sat private.

Pfizer (NYSE: PFE) has an attractive 6.4% dividend yield. That compares to 1% for the S&P 500 index (SNPINDEX: ^GSPC) and 1.4% for the average pharmaceutical stock. Despite the outsize yield, the company is sticking by the dividend payment. That's great, but why is the yield so high? An examination of the business through 2030 will explain the problem.
From a big picture perspective, Pfizer sells pharmaceuticals. Only the drugs it sells don't appear out of thin air. It has to develop them or buy them before it can market them. That's an expensive, often time-consuming, and difficult process. This is why drug companies are afforded a limited, patent-protected window of exclusivity to sell their drugs. Drug companies like Pfizer can generate substantial revenue from patent-protected drugs.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
There's just one small problem: revenues tend to fall dramatically after a drug loses patent protections. Complicating this is that developing new drugs doesn't follow a set timeline, unlike patent expirations. So sometimes there's a mismatch that puts pressure on a company's top and bottom lines.
That's what Pfizer is dealing with right now. In 2027, oncology drugs Ibrance and Xtandi are set to lose patent protection. In 2028, the cardiovascular drug Eliquis will lose patent protection. Pfizer is working hard to find drugs to replace revenue lost from these patent expirations, but investors are clearly worried that it won't be able to. It doesn't help any that the company suffered a material black eye when it had to drop its internally developed GLP-1 weight-loss drug candidate in 2025.

On August 6, Nature's Sunshine Products (NASDAQ:NATR) held its second-quarter earnings call, and the numbers told two very different stories at once. Net sales hit $117 million, the strongest second quarter in the company's history. Gross margin climbed to 73.7%, the highest level in over four years. Yet management also cut its full-year sales and profit guidance, pointing to currency swings and a sudden reversal in China. The tension between a record quarter and a lowered forecast defines where this stock stands today.
North America digital sales grew 26% year-over-year in the quarter, and new customers acquired through the digital channel rose by the same amount. Autoship subscriptions made up 36% of website orders, while the newer social commerce channel jumped 177%, with autoship accounting for 60% of that revenue. Management noted that subscription customers carry a lifetime value more than three times higher than other buyers. The digital business overall is on pace to reach $50 million in sales by the end of 2026, just five years after it launched.
Growth outside China held up too. ****** an sales jumped 50%, and the company's Synergy Eagle system, which operates in ****** an, Taiwan and Korea, grew sales 11% with China excluded from the Asia Pacific total. Europe sales rose 4% to $26.7 million. The company also strengthened its leadership bench, naming Ruth Perkins, a finance veteran of Ford, Estee Lauder and PepsiCo, as CFO effective September 1, and Janine Weber, who helped build Rodan + Fields into a $1 billion skin care brand, as President of North America effective August 10.
China sales fell 20% in the quarter, a sharp reversal from growth that had exceeded 30% over the prior year, which management attributed to unspecified operational issues. That slowdown, combined with currency headwinds, pushed the company to lower its full-year net sales guidance to a range of $490 million to $500 million, down from $500 million to $515 million, and to cut its EBITDA guidance to $48 million to $52 million from $50 million to $54 million. SG&A expenses rose to $44.9 million from $43.7 million a year earlier, and management expects that figure to run between $45 million and $47 million for the rest of the year as growth investments ramp up. Volume incentives climbed to 30.6% of net sales from 29.9%.
The company also spent part of the quarter without a permanent CFO after Shane Jones departed in June, and executives acknowledged that the North American direct selling business has been under pressure for some time, with a planned overhaul not arriving until early 2027.

Rigetti Computing Inc (NASDAQ:RGTI) stock is clearing a trendline with historically bullish implications. The trendline in question is the stock's 50-day moving average. Per Schaeffer's Senior Quantitative ***** yst Rocky White, this "crossover" event happened nine other times in the last 10 years, after which the equity was higher 56% of the time, averaging a 19.19% gain.
The shares are pacing for their third straight daily win, continuing uphill and away from late-July lows. Plus, the 19.3% of Rigetti's available float sold short leaves plenty of room for short covering should the stock's momentum continue.
Rigetti sports a 50-day call/put volume ratio of 4.09 on the International Securities Exchange (ISE), Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), and NASDAQ OMX PHLX (PHLX). This ratio stands higher than 98% of all other readings from the past year, hinting at strong bullish sentiment from long-term traders.
Options are incredibly affordable, per RGTI's Schaeffer's Volatility Index (SVI) of 82%, which stands higher than just 2% of all other readings from the past year, implying that near-term option traders are pricing in relatively low volatility expectations.

Apple has accused an OpenAI employee of taking pictures of its secret product plans as part of a legal battle between the two companies.
In an update to its lawsuit against the ChatGPT maker, Apple said that a member of its staff "took screenshots of confidential Apple documents relating to an unannounced Apple product before an interview at OpenAI".
The US tech giant is seeking to force the former employee, who now works at OpenAI, to testify as part of its lawsuit against the AI company.
Apple sued OpenAI last month, claiming that former staff had stolen trade secrets and taken them to the ChatGPT maker, in some cases continuing to access the iPhone maker's IT systems after leaving the company.
OpenAI is developing an AI device in collaboration with Sir Jony Ive, the former Apple design chief, which could compete with future Apple products.

Bitcoin's (CRYPTO: BTC) average spot trading volume fell to roughly $2.2 billion in July, according to K33 Research. That marked the token's weakest trading volume since Nov. 2023.
That chilly sentiment wasn't surprising, since fears of interest rate hikes and other macro headwinds had chilled the broader cryptocurrency market this year. Bitcoin currently trades at about $65,000, which is well below its all-time high of more than $126,000 in Oct. 2025.
Continue »
Some investors might think that sluggish trading indicates Bitcoin's best days are over. However, I'm not too concerned about the top cryptocurrency's future -- and I believe it will heat up again and set fresh highs once the macroeconomic environment stabilizes.
In Nov. 2021, Bitcoin hit $69,000 amid the buying frenzy in meme stocks, cryptocurrencies, and other speculative investments. But in 2022 and 2023, the Fed's 11 consecutive rate hikes ended that rally, chilled the crypto market, and drove investors to more conservative investments.

US tech stocks regained their footing on Tuesday as a sell-off in chip stocks underscored concerns about AI circular financing deals, countering a drop in oil prices and earnings optimism.
The Nasdaq Composite (^IXIC) bounced back from earlier losses to hover near the flat line. The S&P 500 (^GSPC) rose nearly 0.4%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI) climbed 1.2% as investors weighed the latest quarterly results.
Stocks generally moved higher as the earnings deluge continued. Boeing (BA), Ford (F), PayPal (PYPL), and Coca-Cola (KO) all rose after reporting results, with Coca-Cola stock on track for its best day since 2009. Investors will be watching SK Hynix's results due around 8 p.m. ET for insight into the memory trade as AI worries swirl.
That helped offset souring sentiment in the chip sector amid reports that Nvidia (NVDA) is exploring a $250 billion funding backstop for OpenAI (OPAI.PVT), further intertwining the two companies and heightening worries about circular financing. Tech traders also grew nervous that Chinese competition is narrowing the AI gap with US companies, undermining prospects for a payoff.
Oil prices, meanwhile, continued to retreat after the US and Iran halted active fighting and President Trump said the two sides were in diplomatic talks. "There's a good chance that something could happen, and if it does, good," Trump said aboard Air Force One on Monday. "If it doesn't, we go back to doing what we were doing."

Bitcoin remains dominant, but that ETF demand has become more selective toward the lowest-cost products.
Hyperliquid ETFs show that investors still reward differentiated use cases, flexibility, and credible growth narratives.
Active multi-token ETFs can provide a nimble solution to combat the dynamic nature of the crypto market.
The crypto market has entered a more selective phase. Financial institutions continue to explore practical concepts like tokenization, stablecoins, and incorporating crypto trading alongside equities on their platforms. This momentum persists even as broader enthusiasm for cryptocurrencies has cooled. And in the background, regulatory progress continues to evolve as the CLARITY Act nears the finish line, providing tailwinds for the long term.

One of the fastest-growing brands in the American dairy aisle just went dark, and a cyberattack is the reason.
In a securities filing on July 16, 2026, Coca-Cola (NYSE:KO) disclosed that its Fairlife dairy subsidiary was hit by a ransomware attack that breached its IT systems, including production-related systems. Fairlife's U.S. production operations are "temporarily suspended," though Canadian operations are unaffected. The Fairlife hack is now rippling toward grocery shelves, and the Coca-Cola ransomware disclosure leaves the key question unanswered: when production comes back.

IESC's backlog surged 62% to $3.86B and PWR hit a record $48.47B backlog as AI infrastructure spending accelerates both stocks.
Sterling Infrastructure's E-Infrastructure revenue surged 174%, and CEO Joe Cutillo says labor shortages are the only constraint on faster growth, not a lack of demand.

NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang has a way of turning things to gold. He has spent much of 2026 explaining that the AI buildout needs hands, not just chips. On a recent The Shawn Ryan Show podcast, the host put trade guru Mike Rowe on the spot: "Jensen Huang keeps saying the tradesman is going to be the next millionaire class … Do you think there's truth to that?" Rowe's answer cut to the point: "I know there's truth to it … I have a thousand success stories to back it up."
The NVIDIA CEO's thesis is that AI factories, semiconductor fabs, and the grid to power them require electricians, pipefitters, and HVAC crews at a scale the U.S. has not seen in a generation. Earl Duke Austin, CEO of specialty contractor Quanta, already attached a number on the opportunity: a $2.4 trillion total addressable market through 2030 from converging utility, generation, and large-load demand.

Summary: Openbank — the online division of Santander, a bank founded in 1857 and based in Spain — launched in the U.S. in 2024. It offers FDIC-insured high-yield savings accounts and currently serves more than 100,000 customers nationwide.
Currently, the high-yield savings account is Openbank's only offering. It's a solid option for customers seeking a high interest rate on their savings balance with minimal fees. In fact, Openbank currently offers an interest rate that's nine times higher than the national average for savings accounts.
The biggest downside for Openbank's high-yield savings account is that it requires a $500 minimum opening deposit.
Additionally, it's important to note that overdrafts are not permitted on this account, and as such, any transactions that overdraw this account will generally be returned. In the event the account does become overdrawn, no overdraft fees will be charged.

Buy now, pay later juggernaut Klarna is banking on delivering more financial services.
To that end, the company that grew up in Sweden applied with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. and Utah's Department of Financial Institutions on Monday for a charter to run an industrial bank.
Klarna already operates as a bank in Europe, under a license it has had since 2017, but in the U.S. it has partnered with financial institutions, often WebBank, to offer some of its array of financial services.
A spokesperson for Klarna declined to comment on other bank partners or intermediaries.

IWM has surged 21.6% YTD, more than doubling SPY's 9% gain, as Warsh's inflation-peaked signal at Sintra removes the threat of a summer rate shock.
Unemployment has quietly drifted from 3.5% to 4.2% since early 2023, a slow grind Zervos warns gets ignored until it suddenly dominates every conversation.

Kevin Warsh went to Sintra and said what bond traders have been waiting to hear all summer. Inflation looks like it has peaked. Oil is cooperating. The tail risk of a July or August rate shock, the one quietly haunting every duration-heavy portfolio in America, just got a lot less scary.
That was the read from David Zervos, Chief Market Strategist at Jefferies, on CNBC's Morning Call Sheet Thursday. He was recapping Warsh's remarks at the ECB conference in Sintra, where the Fed Chair delivered what amounts to a green light for the second-half rally thesis. Markets do not care what you meant.
