Microsoft, Meta, and Qualcomm will kick off a parade of tech earnings after the bell on Wednesday, as Wall Street continues to question the validity of the broader AI trade that is sending chip stocks south.
Memory chip maker SK Hynix reported its results late Tuesday evening, with operating profit climbing a wild 557%. But even that wasn't enough to satisfy investors.
All eyes will be on capital expenditures numbers from Microsoft, Meta, and Amazon, which reports Thursday, after Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) increased capex guidance spooked investors.
Meta, meanwhile, announced that it is entering into a $14 billion agreement with BlackRock to build a 1-gigawatt data center in Texas.
Apple, which has benefited thanks to its more restrained spending, saw its market capitalization briefly surpass the $5 trillion mark on Tuesday, making it just the second company to do so.

IfJay Shetty was going to level up his podcast, he figured he needed to upgrade the studio in which he records it. So before his seven-year-old show, On Purpose, relaunched this month on Netflix, the 38-year-old self-help guru says he spent around $500,000 to renovate the ****** e with specific colors and custom artwork (such asincluding a piece of glass covered in bubble wrap) to evoke the kind of vulnerability and fragility he hopes to encourage from his guests.
Sitting inside his sprawling Hollywood Hills home, worth an estimated $8 million, Shetty's digs are a far cry from the Hindu monk principles of humble detachment he once practiced and has encouraged to display. But for a star in media's hottest category—who recently signed a new podcast deal with Spotify and Netflix that will pay him a combined $100 million over the next three years—the studio and residence are fitting.
"I mean, I'm not a monk anymore," Shetty tells Forbes. "Today I consider myself an entrepreneur and a leader in this ****** e, and that allows me to have the ability to use money as a resource to do good in the world and create impact in the way that we've chosen to do that."
For top podcasters like Shetty, the money has also never been better. The entry of video platforms such as Netflix, Hulu and Tubi into a still-frothy marketplace of audio distributors (including Spotify, SiriusXM and Amazon) have pushed paydays into territory once reserved for movie stars. Shetty earned an estimated $21 million over the past 12 months from his previous podcast distribution and ad sales agreement with iHeart Media (before paying taxes and fees to agents and managers) and he i's in line to make far more from his new deal.
He is pouring those earnings into an expanding business portfolio, investing in the Austin-based blood testing company Function Health and founding his own sparkling tea brand, Juni. He also has a production company, Perfect Strangers, which produces the podcast Friends Keep Secrets and has a handful of TV projects in development. The goal, Shetty says, is to build a "conscious empire" of content and products promoting physical and mental health.

When one considers the investment case for Tesla (TSLA), one hears about electric vehicles, autonomous vehicles, Optimus humanoid robots, and energy storage. The company's "Megapod" business is not something that is discussed in the annals of Tesla folklore frequently.
But in the company's latest earnings call, CEO Elon Musk explained how it can aid its AI ambitions. Describing it as a data center hardware system to be used for heavy AI compute, Musk commented, "This allows us to scale AI compute with aggregated electricity production. We can place Megapods at Superchargers and have distributed AI."

As of 11:38 AM ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJINDICES:^DJI) is up 0.13% to 52,017.19, while the S&P 500 (SNPINDEX:^GSPC) is down 0.33% to 7,387.76, and the Nasdaq Composite (NASDAQINDEX:^IXIC) has slipped 0.44% to 24,840.43 as tech pressure offsets optimism from cooling geopolitical tensions.
Gold is up 0.45% to $4,074.30, and the 10-Year Treasury yield is down 0.03% to 4.65%. Communications and consumer defensive stocks are this morning's top-performing sectors while technology and energy sectors are in the red.
RTX Corp climbed 2.61% to $218.28 on strong Q2 earnings. SAP surged 7.4% to $171.79, extending last week's gains after the software company beat earnings expectations. Conversely, Nvidia is trading lower amid concerns about Chinese competition. Reddit is up 6.7% to 171.79 on optimism about its upcoming earnings.
Oil prices fell this morning on news of a pause in strikes between the U.S. and Iran. WTI crude oil fell almost 7% to $83.15 a barrel, boosting market sentiment and lifting the Dow slightly. However, investors are braced for further volatility and will be watching the Federal Reserve meeting this week. The Fed is widely expected to leave rates unchanged in July, but inflationary pressures caused by ongoing tensions in the Middle East and high spending by tech companies could prompt it to raise rates before the end of the year.
On the other side, renewed artificial intelligence (AI) valuation concerns weighed on markets. This week will bring earnings from Microsoft, Meta Platforms, Apple, and Amazon, and investors will be paying close attention to capital expenditure plans. The high concentration in the Nasdaq and the S&P 500 means any drop in their share prices will have an outsized impact on these major indexes.

Hyliion Holdings (HYLN) develops modular power generation systems designed to run on a variety of fuel sources. After spending years under the radar, Hyliion has been attracting fresh investor attention in 2026 as its commercial strategy begins to gain traction. The company has been making headlines for advancing deployments of its KARNO generators, a technology built to deliver reliable, low-emission power across multiple fuel types.
That growing momentum received a major boost this week after Hyliion landed a $41.7 million contract from the United States Office of Naval Research to design, develop, build, test, and deliver 2-megawatt and 3-megawatt KARNO power generation systems. Beyond the immediate revenue opportunity, the award serves as a meaningful endorsement of the company's technology by a key U.S. government agency, potentially opening the door to additional defense and commercial opportunities.

Every major AI chip story seems to lead back to Arm Holdings (ARM) as the industry's biggest players rely on the company's architecture to build their processors. As ARM gears up for its fiscal Q1 earnings on July 29, investors are eager to see if the company can continue to translate strong demand into sustained growth needed to justify its premium valuation.
Valued at $277.7 billion, Arm Holdings develops the processor technology that powers billions of chips globally, licenses that technology to semiconductor firms, and gets royalties on each chip shipped. If you own Teradyne (TER) stock, or you're thinking about buying it, the last week of July could be critical. Teradyne, the company behind the machines that test AI chips, memory, and networking gear, is about to show investors whether its blistering growth pace from earlier this year can continue. And based on what management has said in recent weeks, there's a lot riding on the answer.
Teradyne has quietly become one of the more interesting AI plays on Wall Street, given it manufactures the equipment that proves AI chips work before they are shipped to data centers. As AI hardware gets more complex, that job is getting bigger and more expensive for customers to skip.

U.S. stock futures moved higher on Monday as investors welcomed signs of a pause in hostilities between the United States and Iran, helping to ease pressure on energy markets ahead of a crucial week for corporate earnings and central bank decisions.
By 05:49 GMT, Dow Jones futures had gained 398 points, or 0.8%, while S&P 500 futures were up 66 points, or 0.9%. Nasdaq 100 futures led the advance, climbing 406 points, or 1.4%.
Wall Street ended last week on a mixed note as rising oil prices and geopolitical uncertainty weighed on investor sentiment. However, indications that the White House is seeking to avoid a broader military escalation have improved market confidence, pushing oil prices lower while supporting both equities and bond markets.
Investors are now turning their attention to one of the busiest weeks of the earnings season, with around one-third of S&P 500 companies scheduled to publish quarterly results. Overall earnings are forecast to increase by approximately 26.5% compared with the same period last year.
Several of the world's largest technology companies are due to report this week, including Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN), Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META), Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL). Their results are expected to provide fresh insight into whether the rapid pace of investment in artificial intelligence infrastructure can continue, as markets increasingly debate the long-term profitability of AI-related spending.

Earnings from four of the "Magnificent Seven" Big Tech leaders headline the week: Microsoft (MSFT) and Meta (META) on Wednesday, then Apple (AAPL) and Amazon.com (AMZN) on Thursday.
As was true for earnings last week from Alphabet and Tesla, there's one big question looming over the Magnificent Seven's second quarter reports: How much are you spending, and, crucially, what are you getting for it? Can you show real return on investment?
But it's not all about the Magnificent Seven as investors step into the busiest week of the quarter.

MercadoLibre (NASDAQ: MELI) stock has fallen by 31% from its previous peak as Wall Street focuses on near-term margin pressure and intensifying competition. Yet the business continues to expand rapidly in Latin America's e-commerce market, potentially setting the stage for market-beating returns in the next five years.
Its lower margins are not a result of competition, but rather of its higher near-term spending on infrastructure to support growth. This makes the stock a compelling buy for patient investors.
Missed Nvidia in 2009? This Rare Signal Is Flashing Again. In 2009, a "Double Down" signal flashed for a little-known chipmaker called Nvidia. For the first time in years, that same "Total Conviction" signal is flashing for a company 1/100th the size of Nvidia. Continue »
Similar to Amazon in the U.S., MercadoLibre has a structural advantage in Latin America's e-commerce market. It continues to invest in logistics infrastructure to build the most efficient delivery network in one of the world's fastest-growing e-commerce markets.
The growth it continues to report shows a huge opportunity ahead. The number of unique active buyers grew 26% year over year in the first quarter. Gross merchandise volume increased by 36%, with the number of items sold rising by 47%. It does face increasing competition from Asian e-commerce companies like Temu and Shopee, but these numbers show that MercadoLibre's investments to expand free shipping offers and other services are protecting its competitive position.

Our ******* ysts just identified a stock with the potential to be the next Nvidia. Tell us how you invest and we'll show you why it's our #1 pick. Tap here.
On one hand, UPS beat on everything that mattered this quarter. EPS of $1.76 against $1.66 expected, revenue of $22.8 billion against $21.81 billion expected, and raised full-year guidance on top of it. On the other hand, the stock fell 8% anyway, because Wall Street also got to see UPS' third-quarter outlook.
The best line of the whole call, though, came from CEO Carol Tomé, who said, "if you ignore Amazon and the volume that we intentionally made available to the market, we actually grew our volume in the second quarter." Which, sure, if you ignore the baseball playing, the Mets look great this year. Half the companies in America would probably love the chance to report earnings with an asterisk that says "excluding our biggest, most demanding customer, everything here looks fantastic." Tomé is just the one honest enough to say it out loud on a recorded call.
The Amazon divorce is real, though, and mostly finished. UPS has cut roughly 2 million pieces a day of what it calls "lower quality Amazon volume," stripping out about $4.5 billion in related costs so far, on purpose, in exchange for a leaner network it insists will pay off as volume grows elsewhere. Domestic revenue rose 6% on higher revenue per piece, international jumped 12.5%, and healthcare logistics cleared $3 billion for a second straight quarter, with Tomé bragging UPS is the only carrier offering true end-to-end healthcare delivery on its own ******* ets.
One stock. Nvidia-level potential. 30M+ investors trust Moby to find it first. Get the pick. Tap here.

Three cryptocurrency investors filed a federal lawsuit against Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) on July 24. They allege they lost a combined $1.8 million in Bitcoin through a fake wallet app listed on the App Store.
The complaint was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. It accuses Apple of failing to adequately review and monitor apps distributed through its platform.
Apple recently overtook Nvidia to become the world's largest public company by market capitalization. Its valuation stood at about $4.989 trillion at the time of writing.

The plaintiffs said they trusted the fake app because Apple markets the App Store as:

19th-century Parisian Opera crowds were so notoriously hard to please that companies hired paid sycophants, known as claqueurs, to clap, hoot and holler. AI hyperscalers might want to revive the tradition.
Last week, Alphabet reported the biggest quarterly profit in its history, with the $112.1 billion take almost quadrupling what it made a year earlier. The company's shares fell more than 7%: Investors, racked by anxiety over the company's massive capital expenditure plans, paid more mind to the Google parent hiking its 2026 spending forecast by $15 billion. These are unprecedented times, with companies pumping hundreds of billions of dollars into capital expenditures -- data centers, GPUs, and other infrastructure for artificial intelligence (AI). It's an arms race of sorts, and companies are spending first and asking questions later in fear of missing out on their share of AI adoption.
Two groups of AI stocks have formed within this capex boom. On one side are the AI hyperscalers, big tech companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Meta Platforms, and Alphabet. On the other side are neoclouds, companies such as CoreWeave (NASDAQ: CRWV) and Nebius Group (NASDAQ: NBIS), that build specialized GPU data centers and sell the computing power.

Knowing which group actually wins in the big picture is crucial to deciding where to invest your dollars.
Neocloud companies build specialized GPU data centers, engineered from the ground up for AI workloads. That specialization gives them cost advantages over hyperscalers building more generalized data centers for a broader range of applications. The rampant demand for AI compute is fueling blistering growth at neocloud companies such as CoreWeave and Nebius, where ***** ysts expect revenue to multiply over the next couple of years.

Tadej Pogacar won a record-equalling fifth Tour de France over the weekend. What better time, then, to read this 2013 memoir by a cyclist who won precisely nothing?
Cycling teams are built around ensuring one rider wins; teammates ride in front of the star for slipstreaming, set the pace on climbs, or even give up bike parts in case of a breakdown. Wegelius was one such "domestique." It is a "must-read," says the biking blog Velominati, and "it is a pleasure to read a book about modern cycling that is not a drug exposé." Amazon (AMZN) has been one of the market's strongest large-cap technology stocks in 2026, helped by rapid growth in Amazon Web Services (AWS), advertising, and artificial intelligence. The company also delivered an impressive first quarter, beating Wall Street estimates.
But the story has recently shifted. Recently, Bloomberg reported that Senate investigators are examining allegations of Chinese influence over Amazon's third-party marketplace, sending AMZN shares down about 4% in a single session.

Artificial intelligence has become a market that rewards execution, not promises. Investors have poured hundreds of billions of dollars into companies building AI infrastructure, yet leadership can change quickly when technology shifts or customers choose different suppliers. That makes earnings season especially important because it separates companies making real progress from those still telling turnaround stories.
Intel's (INTC) latest quarterly results showed meaningful progress across the businesses that matter most for AI, helping explain why the stock has climbed 322% over the past year even after retreating 27% from the all-time high it reached last month. Even so, the numbers suggest investors may still find better opportunities elsewhere in the AI ecosystem.
