Joe Manganiello says Sofía Vergara refused to hug him when he pleaded for affection during his long health battle. According to PEOPLE's Oct. 7 report, he writes in his memoir that their marriage had "become devoid of any emotionality whatsoever."
The 49-year-old True Blood actor discusses that period in Bloodlines, his memoir arriving Oct. 13 from Avid Reader Press/Simon & Schuster.
Manganiello and Vergara married in November 2015, announced their separation in July 2023 and finalized their divorce in April 2024.
Vergara had not addressed the memoir allegations when Us Weekly published its Oct. 7 report. The outlet said it had contacted her for comment.
Manganiello says his symptoms began shortly after the wedding. Abdominal pain sometimes left him unable to walk, while digestive ulcers, fevers, blistering rashes, bleeding and exhaustion became recurring problems.
