In the fast-paced world of Hollywood, fame can sometimes be fleeting, even for the biggest stars of the 2000s. Many celebrities who once dominated our screens have taken a step back from the limelight — some by choice, others by circumstance. From reality TV icons and chart-topping pop singers, to teen heartthrobs and comedic talents, these once-familiar faces have found new paths or disappeared entirely from the public eye. Here are the unforgettable stars whose names you still remember, but whose whereabouts might surprise you.
Known best for his roles in drama series, Shane West struck a chord with audiences seeking tender moments and underdog heroes. He played Landon Carter opposite Mandy Moore in the 2002 teen tearjerker A Walk to Remember. Despite his early promise and musical side gig with punk bands, including fronting the Germs on tour for nearly five years, Shane's career trajectory moved away from center stage. Nowadays, his public appearances are rare, making fans wonder if he may be plotting a comeback, or simply enjoying life out of the spotlight.
Cameron Diaz was once a Hollywood mainstay known for both comedic and dramatic chops, and for consistently drawing crowds at the box office. After a string of highly successful films and acclaimed performances, she decided to step back from acting to focus on her personal life and other ventures, famously calling her decade away "the best 10 years" of her life during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show. She also launched her own organic wine label, Avaline, in 2020. Diaz recently returned to acting in 2025's Back in Action.
Lauren Conrad helped define a generation's idea of celebrity. She first rose to prominence as one of the original cast members on Laguna Beach in 2004, then received her own spinoff series The Hills in 2006, which followed her life as she pursued a career in the fashion industry. After dominating the MTV era, she pivoted successfully to the fashion world, collaborating with Kohl's to launch LC Lauren Conrad in 2009, and branched into writing and philanthropy. While she still appears at charity events and in entrepreneurial circles, Conrad keeps a much lower public profile than in her reality TV heyday.
Ryan Cabrera captured the charts and viewers' hearts with his upbeat hit singles and TV-linked romances. His 2004 major-label debut album, Take It All Away, debuted at number eight on the Billboard 200 and was certified Platinum. Though his musical career flourished briefly, he eventually slid out of the Top 40 but never disappeared entirely. Devoted fans can sometimes spot him performing at festivals and nostalgic pop tours, per his website. These days, he lives for the stage, but far from the pop stardom frenzy of his early years.

Former FSU softball All-American Jaysoni Beachum surprisingly entered the transfer portal this offseason, and she is now visiting Florida State's biggest rival.
The third baseman posted a photo of herself in a Florida Gators uniform on social media as she looks for her new home in the portal. It would be a shocking move for Beachum, who not only played at FSU for three years, but is from Tallahassee.
Beachum is one of the most coveted players in the portal after her time with the Seminoles, where she was named the NFCA Division I Freshman of the Year, made multiple All-American teams, and All-ACC teams over three seasons in the program. She is ranked as the No. 3 overall player and No. 1 corner infielder in the transfer portal by Softball America.
She had an excellent junior season and is entering her final season of eligibility. She hit .406 with 10 home runs, 13 doubles, and 69 RBI. She was named First Team All-ACC and a Second Team All-American by Softball America.
Beachum ended her FSU career with a .375 batting average, 37 home runs, 35 doubles, 180 RBI, 158 runs scored, and 202 hits. She has a .654 slugging percentage and a .492 on-base percentage. She also plays excellent defense at third, where she has a career fielding percentage of .956.

Another busy weekend of official visits resulted in several high school football players on the USA TODAY Florida Network top 100 making college decisions.
Among the top commitments were North Miami Beach safety Andre Hyppolite (No. 32, Miami), Palm Beach Lakes athlete Turmarian Moreland (No. 43, Virginia Tech) and Lakeland edge rusher Drew Sapp (No. 59, Colorado).
The UCF Knights football program landed a pair of in-state commitments, while Wake Forest and Vanderbilt both added impact players to their secondaries.
USA TODAY Florida Network recruiting reporters Jon Santucci and Nick Wilson gave their takeaways from the second weekend in June:
Santucci: Miami. I absolutely love Andre Hyppolite's game. If the North Miami Beach safety was at another school in South Florida, everyone would know his name and his ability. He's long, rangy, physical and has the ability to add muscle to his 6-foot-1, 180-pound frame. This commitment wasn't a surprise as most expected Hyppolite to stay in Miami, but this still is a big win.

At $1 million, Sarasota delivers a comfortable coastal retirement while Naples leaves retirees house-rich, portfolio-light, and financially squeezed by hidden costs.
Naples retirees spend between $15,000 and $20,000 more annually than their Sarasota counterparts for a similar lifestyle, eliminating travel budgets and emergency reserves entirely.
Naples only becomes the smarter retirement choice at roughly $2.5 million in investable ****** ets, where insurance and lifestyle costs stop crowding out income.
Are you ahead, or behind on retirement? SmartAsset's free tool can match you with a financial advisor in minutes to help you answer that today. Each advisor has been carefully vetted, and must act in your best interests. Don't waste another minute; learn more here.
A couple in their mid-60s has done everything right. The mortgage is paid off, retirement accounts are healthy, and Social Security will cover a meaningful share of monthly expenses. Now comes the fun decision. They want Florida's Gulf Coast, warm winters, beaches, waterfront restaurants, and a place where the grandkids will actually want to visit. Two cities keep appearing on every retirement list: Sarasota and Naples.

Shinnecock is hosting the U.S. Open June 18-21, for the sixth time. James Foulis won the first one there in 1896. Other winners include Raymond Floyd (1986), Corey Pavin (1995), Retief Goosen (2004) and Brooks Koepka (2018).
Where's the U.S. Open heading next? Here's a look at the future U.S. Open venues:
Pebble Beach will host its seventh U.S. Open June 17-20, 2027. The six winners there are Jack Nicklaus (1972), Tom Watson (1982), Tom Kite (1992), Tiger Woods (2000), Graeme McDowell (2010), Gary Woodland (2019). U.S. Opens visited Pebble about every 10 years but there will be three in an 11-year span coming up.
The West Course, designed by A.W. Tillinghast, has been the site of six U.S. Opens, with Bob Jones (1929), Billy Casper (1959), Hale Irwin (1974), Fuzzy Zoeller (1984), Geoff Ogilvy (2006) and Bryson DeChambeau (2020) the past champions.
Donald Ross built the course in 1907, and 2029 will mark the fifth time for the U.S. Open to be played there. Pinehurst is an "anchor" host site. Bryson DeChambeau won his second U.S. Open at No. 2 in 2024. Payne Stewart made a memorable 18-foot par putt in 1999 to edge Phil Mickelson. Michael Campbell won there in 2005, while Martin Kaymer won it in 2014.

The Georgia Bulldogs lost out on a recruit to an ACC team with a lot of recruiting momentum. Three-star safety Turmarian Moreland committed to the Virginia Tech Hokies, according to Zach Blostein of 247Sports. He chose Virginia Tech over Georgia, Auburn, and Louisville.
Moreland is a three-star prospect from the class of 2027. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound safety plays high school football for Palm Beach High School in West Palm Beach, Florida. He is the No. 48 safety and No. 535 recruits in the nation.
Virginia Tech is gaining serious momentum in the recruiting trail. They're the No. 8 recruiting class in the nation and second in the ACC. The gem of their class is four-star quarterback Peter Bourque, who chose the Hokies over the Bulldogs. Bourque is the No. 6 quarterback recruit in the nation.
Georgia recently got their own gem at quarterback from the 2027 recruiting class. Four-star quarterback Colton Nussmeier, brother of former LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, is the No. 12 quarterback in this class.
Georgia has the No. 21 recruiting class in the nation. They got a jolt with four-star (nearly five-star) offensive tackle Kennedee Jackson flipping from Florida, but they're looking for their first defensive back recruit. They previously had a commitment from five-star Donte Wright, but he flipped to Miami.

Former Scotland international and RCD Mallorca defender Alan Hutton sat down with Get Spanish Football News to discuss his time in Spain with his former team.
Can you tell me a little bit about your time at Mallorca and any memories that really stand out for you?
The whole experience was absolutely brilliant. It’s something that I’d not gone through before. In terms of going to a different country and playing. It came out the blue from an agent I knew up in Scotland. It happened really quickly. In terms of experiences, it was like night and day from England or Scotland. Its culture was very different, where we’d go train with the team and then after that we’d go down to the beach and all sit and have a laugh. It was something I’ve never experienced. There wasn’t that pressure down on your shoulder where every day people are saying things to you in the press or the media, and it wasn’t like that; it was about enjoying your football. And to have the chance to go and play at some of the stadiums, Atlético de Madrid, it was obviously the old one [The Vicente Calderón Stadium] at the time, the Mestalla, going to the Bernabéu, the Nou Camp. All these things were just incredible for me. And also the overall look at football, even though we were a smaller team, it was go and play and go and attack. You were going to Real Madrid or Barcelona, and we want to play our game. Obviously, ultimately, we were playing against top opposition. But it was what we did. And I’ve never really come across that before, to go and attack those big teams. I thought the whole experience was brilliant, and ever since then, I always go back. My brother-in-law was there two weeks ago at a Mallorca game. It made an impression on us all. It was just a brilliant time for me.
You mentioned the move came about quite quickly. How did the move first materialise, and what were your initial thoughts?
I’m going to be brutally honest with you: I didn’t know Mallorca had a team. It was an agent that I knew from Glasgow, John Viola, it was kind of out of the blue. He said, ‘I’ve got this opportunity; would it be something you fancied?’ I needed to think about it. I wasn’t playing for Aston Villa at the time, and it was coming close to the end of the [transfer] window. I looked up the team and saw that Giovani Dos Santos was there, who I played with at Spurs. I was kind of like, ‘Alright, let’s just do it. I need to go and play. Let’s just do it. It’s something totally different.’ And it happened, really quickly after that. It was just get out here, fly over, and do everything we need to do. And as soon as I got there, I just felt at home. Everybody was really good around me. The staff that was looking after me. Everything was just perfect, and I felt that this was the place to be.

Bud Cauley's victory at the Canadian Open caps a long difficult road back from a life-threatening car accident that cost him more than three years of his career.
Cauley, who moved to Palm Beach Gardens more than a decade ago, won for the first time on the PGA Tour in his 239th start. The victory comes eight years after a car crash that left him with five broken ribs, a broken left leg and a collapsed lung.
A series of complications forced him to miss more than three years, much of it dealing with pain. He regained his PGA Tour card at The Players Championship in 2025 by finishing in a tie for sixth place.
More golf: Brooks Koepka withdraws from Canadian Open with mysterious hand injury
Cauley, whose highest finish in a PGA Tour event prior to winning the Canadian Open was third place four times, shot a 5-under 65 in the final round, finishing the tournament at 17-under, two shots ahead of North Palm Beach's Matt Fitzpatrick.

RRJOLL, Albania, June 13 (Reuters) - Some 200 protesters on Saturday tore down metal and razor wire fences surrounding a luxury development site on Albania's Adriatic coast, in another sign of growing anger against construction in environmentally sensitive areas.
Albanians have been protesting for weeks against a planned luxury resort backed by a company linked to Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of U.S. President Donald Trump, near Vlora, which is famed for its flamingos and a turtle nesting site.
On Saturday, villagers from Rrjoll, located in an area of sandy beaches and pine forests in northwestern Albania, protested against another project not linked to Kushner, saying it was being built on their confiscated land.
They waved Albanian national flags and shouted "Revolution" as they tore down the fences. Some scuffles with police broke out but the police did not stop them from removing the fencing.
"The protests will not stop until the residents of the village of Rrjoll are compensated. We are 200 families whose land has been seized," said Zeke Nikolle Shullani, 56, one of the landowners who have been protesting for several months.

TAICHUNG, Taiwan, June 9 (Reuters) - Taiwan's military simulated destroying an invading Chinese force in a coastal exercise on Tuesday, firing off rockets and artillery to stop an amphibious **** ault in what it described as a more realistic combat scenario with less preparation time.
China, which views democratically governed Taiwan as its own territory, has never renounced the use of force to bring the island under Beijing's control, and its warplanes and warships operate almost daily around the island.
The beaches and mud flats on Taiwan's west coast, directly facing China across the Taiwan Strait, are seen as the most likely location for an attempted landing by the Chinese military in the event of any invasion.
The drill was conducted simultaneously from eight positions across a 20 km (12 miles) stretch of coast around Taichung in central Taiwan.

Hulk Hogan's daughter is pointing out this crucial fact in the police process!
Brooke Hogan is rating the aftermath of investigations into her father's unsatisfactory, claiming that the cops practically shut her out of the entire process, which she tagged inconsistent.
Hulk Hogan passed away last July at his home in Clearwater Beach, Florida, and his death was determined to be caused by an acute myocardial infarction, known as a heart attack.
Brooke made it known that she was not on the same page with the officers at the Clearwater Police Department when it came to closing the book on investigations into her father's death.
According to the wrestler's daughter, she was surprised to hear that the officers from the department thanked her for cooperating with them when that was the opposite of what actually happened.

Lamar Jackson has already built one of the most unique quarterback résumés in NFL history, and the question entering the 2026 season is no longer whether the Baltimore Ravens star has the talent of a Hall of Famer. The question is whether his career has already reached a Hall of Fame trajectory.
The answer is yes.
Jackson is a two-time ******* ociated Press NFL MVP, a three-time first-team All-Pro, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, and one of the winningest quarterbacks of the modern era. He owns the most rushing yards by a quarterback in NFL history, has produced some of the most efficient passing performances the league has seen, and remains the centerpiece of a Ravens franchise that has been a consistent AFC contender since he became the starter.
That combination of individual honors, statistical innovation, team success, and historical significance gives Jackson a Hall of Fame foundation that few quarterbacks can match before turning 30.
Jackson's path to that point began long before the Ravens selected him with the No. 32 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. He emerged as one of the nation's premier dual-threat quarterback prospects at Boynton Beach High School in Florida, where his blend of arm talent, speed, and open-field creativity quickly made him one of the most recognizable players in the state. According to 247Sports, Jackson ranked as the No. 8 dual-threat quarterback nationally and the No. 31 overall prospect in Florida, while Scout.com listed him among the top players in the South Region.

Brandi Glanville is opening up about another painful chapter from her split with ex-husband Eddie Cibrian. The former "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star recently claimed she had to spend more than $10,000 in legal fees just to retrieve her own retirement money after their divorce, alleging the process dragged on for nearly a year. Glanville made the revelation during a recent episode of her podcast, "Brandi Glanville Unfiltered," while reflecting on the financial complications that followed her highly publicized split from the actor.
According to Glanville, tensions escalated when she attempted to retrieve her 401K during divorce proceedings. On her podcast, the reality star claimed she "had to hire a lawyer to get my own 401K back" from Cibrian, whom she divorced in 2010 after eight years of marriage.
Glanville alleged the "Sunset Beach" actor "was trying to keep it" and claimed he made the process far more difficult than expected. Speaking to co-host James Maas, Glanville said the ordeal ended up costing her more than $10,000 and took nearly a year to resolve. "He's like, get a lawyer, and so I did," Glanville said.
The reality star explained that she ultimately had to obtain a qualified domestic relations order (QDRO), a legal process used to determine how retirement accounts, pensions, and 401Ks are divided during a divorce.
Glanville also suggested she may soon be facing another legal dispute, hinting at an ongoing issue she expects could require hiring an attorney. "I'm going to have to get a lawyer to fight, which is so ridiculous. I don't want that for anyone," she said.

Odessa A'zion is a hugger. The 25-year-old springs from a sofa on the rooftop terrace of the Chopard Suite at the Hôtel Martinez for a welcome embrace amid a dizzying 24 hours at the Cannes Film Festival. The night before, A'zion made her Cannes debut by hitting the Palais red carpet to face a crush of photographers while standing alongside actor Connor Swindells, French legend Isabelle Huppert and Chopard's Caroline Scheufele. They then made their way to Carlton Beach for a late night Chopard Trophy ceremony during which A'zion and Swindells were honored by Huppert as next-generation talents in front of Demi Moore, Chloe Zhao, Stellan Skarsgard, Ruth Negga, James Franco, Riley Keough, Nicky Hilton, Xavier Dolan and others. A'zion gave a speech — describing the experience as "really weird, crazy and surreal" — stayed for dessert and ducked out for a cameo at the hottest party in Cannes for her I Love LA co-star Jordan Firstman's directorial debut Club Kid. Then it was time for bed to get few hours of rest ahead of a full day of Chopard press to honor the occasion, accessorized by sparkling diamonds and a breathtaking view of the French Riviera over her shoulder. Post hug, The Hollywood Reporter spent 20 minutes with the Marty Supreme star to talk about her Cannes adventure, how Josh Safdie's film changed her life, what she learned from the backlash surrounding her Deep Cuts casting and why she's fiercely protective of her personal life.
